It was a nice break from the heat when staying on the river. You can also pay by credit card which is nice because most backpackers on the river are low on cash since most places do not take cards. Spent one night - took the Garífuna cultural tour in the AM out of the tiny Dibasei office down the street- and now checking out for a 2:30 boat back to the river. Great clean rooms with AC

About the only decent accomodation in Livingston.
Quiet!, great garden area, big pool, small private beach, cleam rooms with balcony and views, nice restaurant and friendly service. After staying at a very mediocre place, this one is a breath of fresh air.

Place was really clean and staff was amazing. My daughter had left her AirPods and realized once we had arrived in Rio Dulce. I called to ask in case they found them if they could ship them as we would be in another town for the next few days. We had a call later that day saying they had found the AirPods and sent them via local mail the very next day.

P.S the Piña Colada at the hotel is expensive but great. It’s a must try.

Villa Caribe is a nice hotel in a central location in the town of Livingston. We stayed in a standard room with a balcony overlooking the pool and water. It was clean and well taken care of. The shelves in the room are very convenient for travelers' items. The breakfast was excellent. We loved the little bar at the entrance of the hotel and spent a lot of time there - hi to Hazel and Tamara!! All the staff at the hotel were excellent. There is a big pool at the hotel and a small beach area with hammocks. There could be more shade at the pool area as the sun is very hot. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

We stayed here before and had a great time. This time was a bit disappointing. We were greeted with the notice that there was no hot water because of some glitch. No accommodations were offered for that. However, the next morning I asked if breakfast would be provided to compensate for the lack of hot water, and the front desk person quickly agreed.

This property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. The pool was clean and refreshing. The restaurant on property was excellent! Our room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. What made the trip most memorable was the entire staff from the front desk to the restaurant to the cleaning and maintenance service. Everyone was kind helpful. Always giving us a cheerful start to our day! Merlin, Olvi, Javier to name a few went out of there way to be helpful. The bird song symphony in the morning was delightful. We loved every minute. Thank you everyone!

We flew a red eye, plus domestic flight and a boat to drag our tired dirty into the lobby at noon. We’re hoping for early check in, initially Denied but staff got things sorted and even upgraded us to a bungalow. The cold towel & welcome juice was everything in that moment :-) bungalow had a deck, view of ocean and was really comfortable. The hammocks on the grass are so relaxing & big cool pool. Didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant but lovely space & design. Would def stay here again.

I actually felt like a queen.

Our room was a bungalow,. the canopy and conch shell lamps ..... superb decorations. The balcony over the Rio Dulce and the ocean was breath taking. The beds are firm which is what I prefer for my back. We didn't eat there but have in the past. That is very nice also. They didn't speak much english to me but then again I didn't need anything much. The pool towels were so soft. The AC was wonderful.

Best hotel in Livingston. There may smaller botique hotels that would be just as good for a better rate, but they're difficult to find online and are usually full on the day you arrive. Villa Caribe is pleasant and clean, good view, pool and restaurant. Beds were clean but three star comfort.

We had the worst room full of mosquitos and one of the French guides that work with the hotel took a bag by mistaque in playa blanca and we fond out and ran to the person already in the bout living the place and trow the bag in to the water so we can reachited and because all the commotion we lost my passport.

This is by far the nicest hotel in the city of Livingston. Not only does this place have an awesome pool to lounge by, it also has its own private sand beach with plenty of hammocks. Other than this private beach, we were not able to find any areas to swim in the ocean in Livingston. The next closest place to find a sand beach was Playa Blanca, which requires a 30 minute boat ride to even get to (so you have to pay for the boat plus a 20Q admission fee to use Playa Blanca).

If you want comfort and relaxation, this is your place.

Great choice for Livingston overall

This was our second stay at Villa Caribe. On the whole this is the best hotel in Livingston. The staff are great, the view incredible, the grounds nicely done. You pay a bit than other local hotels but you are assured of an overall positive experience.

Having said that, there are two issues that for the price should be rectified:
1) The beds are single beds that are put together to form larger beds. For $120US a night the hotel could invest in toppers to negate the divide in the middle;
2) There is no good excuse for not having hot water at this price point. Warm is better than cold but a dribble of warm water does not replace a hot shower.

Despite these two points if you are willing to pay the price this is one of the nicest places you will find to stay in Livingston.

We have a nice stay at this hotel, all the staff is excellent we received very good service every body is willing to help you all the time. Restaurant service was good, we ordered a la carte and the food was deliciuos. I think they have a good opportunity to improve the breakfast, I would not call it a buffet, it is very limited and the quality is low. We stayed three days and we had a very good experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Caribe! We actually added an extra night which they were nice enough to offer us a discounted rate. The grounds are beautiful and the people are courteous and very friendly! The restaurant is gorgeous and the all the food was good!

If you are staying....

this is your only option. Being in Livingston without air is not an option with small children or if you want relief from the oppressive heat. The rooms are well maintained, functional, decorative without a fuss and the water is hot. The restaurant has the most delicious food and the flora and fauna don't creep up into your room. The downside for guests there are no phones in the room so if you want something you have to go get it ugh especially when you want to stay in the air. The pool well what can I say my husband who never swims swam everyday. They can arrange tours for you and a taxi anywhere on the island to villa is close to nothing. Enjoy your stay....I would shoot for a bungalow we stayed in Buga.

Hotel Villa Caribe - Unexpected Pleasure!

Just had a lovely stay at the Hotel Villa Caribe in Livingston, Guatemala. The entire staff, and especially the Desk Manager, Manfred did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The restaurant was beautiful and a dining exprience not to be missed. The staff in the dining room were most accommodating. Location could not be beat - right across the Immigration Office where everyone must stop anyway. The rooms were very large and nicely appointed and the view from the balcony was simply breathtaking. I cannot wait to return!

Un hôtel situé à 3 mn de l’embarcadère, certes un peu vieillot mais avec beaucoup de charme et qui colle parfaitement avec la vie à Livingston.
Une vue magnifique sur la baie du restaurant et de la chambre ( demander le 2eme étage !).
Chambre simple mais confortable avec un coffre-fort à l’ancienne et un balcon bien agréable ainsi qu’une salle de bain complète avec eau chaude.
Les jardins de l’hotel descendent jusqu’à la mer avec un très grande piscine agréable.
Petit déjeuner et dîner corrects.
Service impeccable.
Au final un excellent souvenir de Livingston.

Alles lief reibungslos. Villa Caribe ist eine Oase. Der sehr kleine Strandbereich ist schön und gepflegt. Rasenarbeiten wurden nach Bitte um Ruhe unterbrochen. Danke dafür! Der Pool ist ebenfalls gut (haben wir aber nicht genutzt - warum Pool, wenn man die Karibik hat?) Zimmer sauber, Dusche gut. Schöner Balkon mit Blick auf’s Meer. Wir glauben, dass Villa Caribe der beste Deal in Livingston ist. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Danke.
