The hotel was excellent. The reception and welcome superb. Sadly the rooftop bar was full and the other hotel bar was operated by two people who were not particularly friendly or efficient until it came to payment / tip.

A wonderful hotel with fabulous views of the sea. Huge rooms with big, comfy beds and large balconies overlooking the sea. The rooftop infinity pool, hot tub and sauna is wonderful also; there is free access to the clifftop natural pools too. The food is exceptional of fine dining quality and the half board option is excellent value, not too be missed! All of the staff are friendly, kind and helpful, they really care and want to ensure you have a great stay. Highly recommended!

Hotel is situated on a shore of the ocean, so through bedroom windows and balcony we saw only ocean, waves and had magnificent view. Food was excellent in the restaurant, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was spotles. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!

After a big day hiking and sightseeing, we relaxed in the hotel and took in the spectacular view. We had half board so dinner was at the Beer House and it was really good with a great selection on the menu

This is the most amazing property with views from everywhere, even the jacuzzi. The staff was very friendly and provided a welcome drink, coupons for the natural pools, and information as needed. The bedrooms were good enough with a very large comfortable bed. Laundry came back a little damp with a strong detergent smell and I expect it's because they hang dry everything in Europe. There was construction going on and the closet didn't allow for a long dress to hang. None of this mattered because the views were so good. The weather was a bit cold and even that didn't matter. I would love to stay here again. I highly recommend it.

We stayed for a week in this perfect hotel. The location is amazing. Staying with our teenage/early 20's children, we took 3 rooms - 105, 106 and 112.
Each room has its own balcony with table and chairs to enjoy the view along with a little pull out drying rack.
105 being the smallest of the 3 rooms has a shower room with the best view of the ocean! 112 has a different view onto the ocean with a beautiful Mountain View combined. All rooms have a minibar.

Towels are provided for the pool areas just remember to obtain a complimentary entrance ticket from reception before you go as the natural pools are actually run by a different company.

The hotel is perfectly positioned about the natural pools and we had a lovely 6 night stay here, using it as a base to explore the island.
Our room looked out over the ocean with fantastic views from the balcony. Housekeeping was very efficient and our room very clean and comfortable.
We booked our stay on a HB basis and as an anniversary treat. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of choice.
Dinner could be taken at the rooftop restaurant or at the seaview restaurant. We preferred Seaview.
However, we arrived to discover extensive renovations right next door to the hotel ..we assumed it was another Business until we called by reception to advise our bookings at Seaview could not be honoured as it was closing to allow kitchen equipment to be transported and installed ' next door' at the hotels new premises!! For the next few days breakfast was served at the rooftop restaurant, which had no means to keep hot food hot and only approx 10/12 tables were undercover and protected from the elements

I didnt realize this was on the other side of the island. I am happy we stayed here. Very quiet at night and everything you need right there. Be sure to rent a car if staying here. It cost 90 Euros from the airport to the hotel by taxi.

This hotel is situated in a very nice location facing the lava pools.The beds were comfortable, the balcony was spacious with a beautiful view of the ocean and the buffet breakfast was good. It is within walking distance to all sights in Porto Moniz . There is lots of parking available. Staff were friendly and efficient. We appreciated the thoughtful welcome and departure gifts.

A unique gem of a hotel. The views & sounds of being so close to the sea is incredible. Rooms are clean & modern, dining options, particularly the rooftop restaurant are superb. You definitely will need a hire car if you want to explore the local area, as porto moniz is quite small with just a handful of places to go.

Nicely situated on the sea front with rooms looking out onto the bathing pools below. The hotel has extra parking a few minutes walk away accessible with the room card. The staff were all friendly and helpful and breakfast was very nice with a good selection but seemed to be lacking a toaster. The room was comfortable and well maintained but smaller than we thought and was rather musty on arrival which cleared quickly once the windows were opened. We spent just a few nights here and I’m not sure if there was enough to do beyond that even though we had a car, very limited eating options in the resort but the restaurant at the hotel was very good. The resort lacked any nice little bars to stroll out to in the evening. Overall a nice short stay.

Fantastic experience and perfect base to explore the island if your interests run more towards hiking and exploring than shopping and beaches. The stay was a romantic getaway. The hotel has a great location I would definitely go back but only in the summer time. The biggest attraction are the natural pools which were closed due to weather. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly but it’s super outdated and the food options were not great

This hotel is very far from Punchal airport, but it was listed on Expedia as a choice foyer for Funchal. The roads to get there are very dangerous, especially at night. The pools were so cool. There were fish swimming in them and it was fun to watch the waves crashing into them at high tide. We had a balcony directly over the sea looking out to the cliffs over the ocean. It was so serene to be able to just sit and listen to the waves. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Really splendid staff who did everything to make our stay pleasant. Room was unusually clean and well decorated but not large. Watching the waves break from our balcony was amazing. We had half board, breakfast was excellent and dinner from the half board menu was pretty ok. The food was very nicely cooked and presented for me they could do with keeping it simpler with less decoration and fewer flavours on a single plate. Overall our stay was a great experience.

The staff was amazing, and so responsive to any question I had or anything that I needed. I loved the property. It was beautiful with stunning views of the water and the natural pools. Every room is ocean front in the views were amazing my favorite part of the trip was the incredible breakfast Buffet each morning, the amount type and quality of food that was served was unmatched. I just can’t talk about the breakfast enough lol. I also had a spa service which was so relaxing and felt so good and the prices can’t be beat. the food at the hotel in the restaurant was truly incredible. I didn’t feel that I was missing out on anything by not staying in the city and visiting other restaurants and tourist spots, it was such a relaxing solo trip and I felt completely safe at all times I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again

I highly recommend this hotel, it really exceeded my expectations. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. The views from the room are amazing. Really clean and beautiful hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff were gracious and welcoming. Check-in was seamless. The room was clean, spacious and the view was just amazing. Both of the on-site restaurants were top notch with excellent food, beautiful presentation and friendly service. The breakfast buffet was fresh, varied and delicious. The hotel is about an hour from Funchal and public transportation is limited so you will need a car. But well worth it!

A really great hotel, stunning clifftop location, very kind and helpful staff, amazing food in the restaurant (definitely go half board of you can its very much worth it!!) and free access to the amazing sea water pools and beautiful rooftop hot tub and sauna! Stunning sunsets from the balcony or even better the rooftop hot tub which you can book for free! Excellent value, I'll definitely be back! Highly recommended!!

LOVED the view from our room. Our room was on the first floor and we had a great view of the natural pools. I was a little worried about being right next to the spa, but it was quiet all day and if the staff went out on the balcony while our curtains were open, they were really respectful of our privacy and space. We had the half-board and breakfast and dinner restaurant options were great. The staff was lovely and helpful, especially in helping us schedule tests to return home. The only negative was the water-pressure for the shower was lacking a bit. But we understand the concept of water preservation, etc. Would definitely return!
