The place is a bit dated but very well kept, staff is super friendly, educated and helpful (5 stars to the staff ) my next door neighbors where really loud, music until 4am but nothing that can’t be fixed if you call the front desk.The green areas are beautiful, sunsets are spectacular!! breakfasts are delicious. I would come back, and yes I recommend.

Pros: it is a nice property with many amenities. My favorites, AC, pool, easy parking and a boat deck. A restaurant.

Cons: (we went in June, so it may change depending on the season)

Way too many no-see-ums, I had at least 200 bites, that caused me and allergic reaction. My eyes were swollen.

The 2 restaurants had the same menu, and the food was a bit bland. The menu is limited too.

They said they offer room service but it took so long to get just coffee.

The kids pool was dirty and looked outdated.

The private beach had feces.

The property does have a fridge, microwave and stove which was convenient, though we only used the fride.

During our stay we had to call someone to fix the AC once.

We stay here quite often, its a place to go relax. My tip is to take bug spray since there are a lot of mosquitos. Also, in my opinion they need a jacuzzi or a heated pool for days where it is cloudy since the pool water is extremely cold.

The staff are excellent.
Very helpful and accomadting. Had issue with expedia booking and hotel called expedia to resolve. The team goes above and beyond for customer satisfaction. They have a massage therapist on staff with extensive expierience and does excellent work for us middle age people!
Definately reccomend the hotel for families or a couples getaway

Tucked away far from the bustling heart of Puerto Barrios, this charming property offers a serene retreat for those seeking to unwind. While it is an older property, it is impressively well-maintained, with a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and having a young lady on the team who spoke English fluently was a tremendous help for our limited Spanish skills. The on-site restaurant, Mangoes, was a standout, serving delicious meals at very reasonable prices—an absolute highlight of our stay. Although the bed was a bit firm and the linens (both towels and sheets) showed their age, these minor details did not detract from the overall experience. This hotel is a delightful choice for travelers looking for peaceful surroundings, good food, and warm hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would gladly return!

Our group of four arrived a bit early. No early check-in available, that’s ok. But the staff also didn’t share or offer us the use of hotel or amenities (hold luggage, restaurant, attractions, and such) while we waited. Almost like we weren’t valuable until check in time. Another guest shared the lay of the land with us. We ended up leaving the premises and returning at check-in time.

At check in time, the front desk was apathetic towards check in process - mechanical and still no real sharing of where amenities or points of attraction.

I paid under $80/night for a simple double room for me and my 9 year old son and it was worth it. The pool and restaurant were a comfortable place to relax, cocktails were good and the service was friendly. The gardens and grounds were well kept. Some of the structures had a little wear and tear but it's to be expected given the climate. The kiddie pool area had a lot of debris in it (twigs, leaves, grass), but the grown up pool, with a swim up bar was very clean. The hotel is just 15 minutes from the airport and the municipal docks in the center of town so if you want to take a boat or eat elsewhere it's easy to do though taxis will gouge you! Q100 per trip. The food at the restaurant was just ok, the seafood was good but everything else was subpar. The breakfast buffet on Sunday was nice, great price, with a separate price for kids, but the coffee terrible. There is lots to do on the resort, it's an easy place to come with your kids and let them run around. It was clean, convenient, good service, I would recommend!

Es un bonito lugar de Izabal, bastante grande, con mucho espacio para caminar. El parqueo es bastante amplio. Quizás sea el mejor hotel de Puerto Barrios. También probé la comida del restaurante y estaba bastante bien. No está céntrico, ya que está a unos 15-20 minutos del centro de Puerto Barrios. Las instalaciones estaban un poco descuidadas en algunos puntos y el servicio de recepción fue algo lento, pero por lo demás todo bien.

If you are okay with a lot of people and lines for activities then maybe this is a good destination for you.
We choose to go to this place non-weekend. Activity options are reduced. People are compressed in dining room for dinner on a Sunday for benefit of servers we were told. Guests continue to come for dinner but they are cutting the staff still present.
No pollo for quesadillas, but there is a “chef”. Do not try to customize the entrees since they are already prepared and leftovers from the busy weekend.
No wave runner available.
No tours.
No private dinner location as mentioned in the website description. We must sit next to drunk people in pool for dinner.
Kayak area is small with fence in the water. Don’t count on adventuring out.
Safe in room does not function.
I asked manager to cancel our last night because activities are very limited during the week and I will go some where else. He said ok but it is a problem for Expedia. I contacted Expedia and they called him and he refused because Angelina told him to deny it. Ok the truth was not told face to face.
It is on a private beach.
Hot water is good for shower.
Toilet handle chain broke.
Not many mosquitos but many small sand flee bites from sitting in restaurant area by the pool.

My sink was clogged, I asked to have it fixed the day I arrived, they told me they fixed it but in fact it remained clogged my entire 3|day/2night stay. I also dont understand why the Hotel put my group of four Billas in sepárate locations. The Hotel was less than half full but they decided to put us in 4 separate buildings. They had the option to put my group in 2 buildings(2 Villas/building) but we ended up being very far away from each other and sharing anVill with strangers. Does not make sense.

Really a great hidden resort. The staff were very accommodating, given it was a weekday stay in what I think was the off-season. With that said, it was a great experience and the facilities were perfect for a family. Food was pretty good-nothing gourmet, but I wouldn’t complain about it. Rooms were fine, but the mattresses weren’t great. However, for the room rate, the place is absolutely fantastic. If I find myself in puerto barrios again, I’m definitely staying there.

This site is out of town of Puerto Barrios and a fairly long drive from the boat dock or airport so it isn’t so great for one night stay, but the romos in bungalows have full kitchens and would be great for families with young children for a weekend getaway as they have a big pool area and other activities - The area can be a bit buggy as it’s surrounded by swampland

On a beautiful bay. No shuttle from airport. The main things to visit was Up the river and their concierge service was very limited. There’s hotel us run down and our air conditioner quit working. However very nice pool and slides for children.
