The staff was amazing—super detailed, friendly, and incredibly helpful. The hotel was under construction during my stay, but it didn’t bother me at all since I wasn’t there in the mornings, and construction stopped by 2 p.m.

As for the room, I loved that everything was thoughtfully provided—even a humidifier, which was a great touch. There was a slight musty smell initially, but once we turned on the humidifier, it completely went away. I assume this may be part of why the rooms are being renovated.

Breakfast was outstanding—truly one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. It was buffet-style, and whoever the chefs are, wow.

Overall, this hotel was top-notch, and I would absolutely stay here again.

Property may show a little age but the service is exceptional. The staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect. They were super helpful and accommodating and they were some of the most thoughtful and polite people we encountered in Japan! Our room was always pristine and our amenities like slippers and sleeping shirts were always refilled and fresh! Though the hotel was busy it was very quiet and calm there. All the restaurants we tried were excellent! It’s not far from the subway/trains or bus stops but we ended up using the GO taxi app to get most places because they are cheaper and more numerous than Uber there.

I loved my stay in the hotel, it went beyond my expectations, the lobby and design is beautiful. and the staff is warm and kind. They offer 3 different types of restaurants, the breakfast is very good and I was only saddened to find out that the rooftop restaurant is closed in winter. They also have a shuttle to and from the train station, which is a wonderful service. The hotel is also in a good location with a bus stop nearby and the beautiful temple Nishi Hongan-ji, which I recomend visiting. Overall me and my family were extremely happy with our stay.

Outstanding hotel. I haven't been to all hotels in Kyoto but this hotel was by far the best one i have been to. Even though it is located in downtown Kyoto it has a very tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. It is quiet in the room which is good when you want to sleep. Breakfast is great and the lounge is nice. It is a good place where you can relax in the evenings.

The hotel is very nice and the staff is attentive and nice. The rooms are clean and bright. Everyone on staff greets you as you pass them. If you have any questions they are there to assist. I had a very good stay. The only advice I have is if to make dinner plans ahead of time because some places close early or fill up quickly and you don’t want to scramble to find dinner.

Breakfast was the same as people that paid for the lowest price room. I expected some fruits or welcome hors d’oeuvres but there was none. No lotion or bath salt/ bubble bath available from the room and when we requested for it only lotion was available.

We stayed at Tokyu Hotel in Kyoto and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel was great—very clean, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The food was good and satisfying. Our only observation is about the location: with kids, it’s not ideal since the nearest subway station requires a bit of a walk. That said, taxis were always available, and Kyoto is not a large city, so getting around was still easy. Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the service I have received at Kyoto Tokyu hotel. I have stayed in other hotels in Japan, but this is one hotel where I felt really welcome, taken care of, and safe as a single woman traveller. The service staff have excellent \"omotenashi\" skills and are very generous, and I felt very comfortable communicating with them. Although the room was a basic standard room, the faciliites were nothing short of excellent. It was very easy for me to visit the top locations in Kyoto by commuting by bus near the hotel. Most hotels allow for check-in at 3 p.m. and check-out at 10 a.m., but at Tokyu, you can check-in at 2 p.m. and check-out at 11 a.m. I thought this was really great. Overall, it was very much worth every yen I spent on the room. I will definitely stay at this hotel when I return to Kyoto, and will for sure recommend their services to people I know. Thank you very much, Hotel Tokyu! (P.S. I thought it was really cool that they had the option to play the radio in the room, and the lady staff who helped me out in the room was really kind!)

The hotel rooms are ok. The staff I spoke with for check in/check out were ok.

However, there were a number of issues which left me deeply disappointed.

First, the hotel claims to run a convenient shuttle between the hotel and Kyoto station. The management of this shuttle is terrible. We once tried to take the shuttle from the station. As we came up, the shuttle left before scheduled departure time. I ran to catch up and get the driver’s attention. He saw me, waved me off, and drove away. On another day, we tried to take the shuttle from the hotel. Because it was raining, the shuttle filled and we weren’t able to get a spot. Instead of providing a second shuttle, they told us to get a taxi. They care about being able to say they run a shuttle but not about actually making things convenient.

The bigger issue came after. (Please bear with me. This is not about the hotel, but it is relevant) The hotel set us up with a taxi to the station. We asked to go to the front of the station. The driver decided to take us to the BACK because there is a clearer Shinkansen entrance there. When I saw he was going the wrong direction, I told him we needed to go to the front. He dismissed me. When we arrived, he kept the meter running as he unloaded. Very scammy.

Since the hotel probably contracts with cabs, I wrote to the hotel with the name of the driver and told them what happened. They wrote back saying it was reasonable for the driver to ignore our instructions. Disgusting!

The premium rooms are spacious for Japan and stylish. Beds are comfortable and Tempur pillows were good.

Gorgeous hotel near Kyoto Station. The Complimentary shuttle was so helpful. Also close to bus stops, and walkable. We loved the restaurant in the Lobby, went three times. Kid friendly. They loved the spaghetti. Also a vegetarian friendly option. A Lawson across the street for beauty and snacks. Staff was helpful and kind. Gorgeous Zen water space. Would definitely stay here again.

My partner and I came here on our honeymoon and felt incredibly looked after by the team. It was a massive plus having a decent sized premium room, a free shuttle bus to the train station and early luggage drop offs. We highly recommend booking a premium room, as we had access to a special premium lounge which had daily afternoon tea, snacks and alcohol readily available to unwind after a long day

Room is clean, nice and quiet. Beds are comfortable. Hotel provides nice toiletries, including nice toothpaste, comb, slippers, and a free and complete set of facial care products. Complimentary breakfast has a delicious variety of Asian and Western items. Free bottled mineral waters are provided everyday as well. Hotel personnel’s are very polite and helpful to give instructions and help out with luggages. The doormen promptly help you to find taxi drivers. Hotel has free shuttle to and from Kyoto station.
