Room was nice. Room was clean. Shower designed poorly. No shower lip. Water all over floor. Bed not super comfortable. Mine was up against wall so the only side gets used is the side entered. Mattress has never been flipped. Hangs to the floor on that one side. There is no elevator! We had huge bags. And a 24 pack of water! Refrigerator is a plus. Coffee in room too. Not great, but coffee! Looked like a fun place. We just slept there.
It was a place to sleep.

The Grand Basin National Park is really remote. There are not many accommodations near the park entrance. The Border Inn was clean but very worn and dated.
The air conditioner was very noisy. A few minutes after we ran it the duct tape wore out and the front of it opened up. The restaurant and bar had good fairly priced food. The drinks at the bar was cheap also
The problem was breakfast was in a dark bar. When we checked in the cook had on a T-shirt that said Chicken Fingers, a picture of a chicken flying both fingers. I know it was in the middle of nowhere but a little tacky. The only TV around is in the bar. I did get to see Monday Night Football. Since this is one of the few places to stay for the National Park, Many of the people we see hiking in the park were also at this Inn. The stay was memorable and the rates were cheap.

The Border Inn is on the Nevada-Utah border, with the casino (about 20 gaming machines) and restaurant in Nevada, gas station and rooms in Utah. It’s miles from anywhere; the only town nearby is Baker, Nevada, which has a population of a few hundred. The main nearby attraction is Great Basin NP.
The staff was friendly, but the rooms very basic. WIFI is sporadic. There are no TVs in the rooms. They provide what food and drinks they can, considering the isolated location. I have no specific complaints, but don’t expect a modern motel room.

Stayed there 2 nights. Room was quiet even though it was on a major road and there was truck traffic. There was NO deadbolt or door chain. Furniture was too big for the small room and was in poor shape. Dresser was not fully accessible due to oversized chairs. The available electric outlets had seen lots of action over time as the plugs would not stay in and often fell out. No Coffee pot in the room. Coffee was only available at the office/store/casino. Wifi was ok.

The Border Inn is truly on the border of Nevada and Utah. The welcome sign for Utah is in the parking lot. When we checked in, it was in the store/kitchen which was connected to the casino. The smell of cigarettes was so overwhelming. The restaurant was connected to the casino by an open door. No way we could eat in there. We ordered our food and ate it on our bed (no other place to eat) in our very strong pinesol smelling room. Our room was clean, minus a few ants in the bathroom and the staff were very friendly. The Border Inn is the only option for a place to stay if you have been in Great Basin National Park unless you want to drive for hours.

The man at the desk was rude. This hotel was literally in the middle of nowhere, about 10 miles from Baker, which wasn’t made clear online. I had to answer some questions about paying for damages done to property, the door/lock/key worked poorly, no deadbolt or chain, the shower dripped loudly all night and the AC was very loud. Worst of all it had NO TV!!!! I’m surprised Expedia would list such a place!!

Title: Extremely Disappointing – Poor Service and Refund Nightmare

When we arrived at the Border Inn, our room had clearly not been cleaned after the previous guest — dirty sheets, trash left behind, and an overall unsanitary state. We immediately informed the front desk and were told we would receive a refund. Unfortunately, that’s where the problems got worse.

Despite never staying in the room, the hotel has insisted that we did, and the refund process has been an absolute nightmare. Communication has been poor, accountability nonexistent, and the lack of professionalism is deeply frustrating.

I would strongly advise avoiding this property. If something goes wrong with your stay, don’t expect them to make it right.

1970 paneling and furniture. No ice bucket or ice machine on property although they would fill our mugs one at a time at the office. We passed, not wanting someone to handle our personal drink mugs in a back room. Paid $5.00 for a bag of ice from the machine. Restaurant was okay.

If you are visiting great basin national Park, there are limited options for places to stay close to the park. I checked into this motel and saw my room and could not get out fast enough. Blistering hot with an ancient wall unit AC, the furniture and decor were ancient, dated and there was a heavy musty smell. I will say that the manager who checked me in was 100% correct when he told me that their cook makes incredible food. I had the best steak burrito of my life and couldn’t finish it because it was so big. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, understanding, and helpful. The property offers, gas pumps, a casino slot machines, a mini mart, a bar, laundry and amazing takeout food where you can sit at the bar.

5 star review, not a five star hotel

Given the location of this property on the loneliest highway in America, the property was sufficient for the night. The place is dated and could use a makeover. However, the beds were good, the room was clean, the location was quiet. Access to Great Basin National Park was good. The parking lot was well lit, which allowed me to turn off the headlights in the middle of the night to not bother other guests.

Compared to all the other options in Baker, I would choose this motel again.

We stayed here to visit the national Park. It is not fancy but clean enough and has a little grocery market and restaurant and some entertainment as well. Casino and cowboy games. The location is super cool. You are right on the border and the time on your cell phone keep on switching back-and-forth. Really quick experience super close to the national park so very convenient. I do recommend it

This place is really rough, I suggest staying elsewhere.

I know what you’re thinking… how bad can it be, I just need a bed for the night!

Truth is I’ve slept more comfortably in a tent on gravel surrounded by RV generators. I’d call it a roach motel but even they seem to know better.

I honestly don’t think a dollar has been put into the place since it was built, which i’m guessing was in the 70s based on the wood paneling and peeling bathroom wallpaper. The beds were metal frames with squeaky lumpy spring mattresses. The AC was a loud window unit, turning off and on all night, but very hot and muggy in between running, and the carpet had questionable stains.
In the bathroom there were mold stains, both soap dispensers were broken, the exhaust fan didn’t work at all, and CFL lights flickered constantly.

to top things off there’s no tv or coffee maker, which I thought were basic amenities at this point.. but i was offered the password for their wifi (which didn’t actually connect to the internet)

I let the staff know of the disrepair, but they seemed puzzled (or perhaps offended) and offered another room which turned out identical if not worse. Exhausted and not wanting to travel any longer, we all took melatonin and slept as best as we could until ~6am after jokingly calling it “glamping”

Nice place to stay for visiting the national park. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but has a convenient store and restaurant close by, so good for a night stay. Property is old and you can see some cracking on the walls and some furnitures are delicate, but in general not expecting too much considering it’s location.

I prepaid on Expedia for two rooms for one night. They charged me again when I checked for both rooms. When I told the cashier that I had prepaid on Expedia, she assured me she was getting my card information for incidentals. But my bank account shows that I was charged again by the hotel for both rooms. When I followed up, she told me to take it up with my bank.
If you stay there, don’t prepay.

If the room was $50 dollars a night I wouldn't say anything is wrong with it but it is NOT worth anything more than that! The only thing it has going for it is that it is literally one of like two hotels within miles! The beds are small and uncomfortable. There are NO amenities, the fridge in the room doesnt get cold at all, no tv in room, not even a dresser. The staff were good and the bathroom was clean but the place hasn't seen a new look in like 40 years. Very minimal and low quality. Overall, not recommended!

When i requested help, my request was completely ignored. The room i rented was called deluxe but there wasn't even a TV. Money should be refunded.

Look, it's an older building that shows its age. There was a microwave and a tiny fridge that worked. The room was clean and the sheets and blanket were so soft! The ac was as cold as we wanted it. Was there a TV? No. Was the electricity iffy? Kinda. But, the staff were helpful. For the middle of nowhere it was great. For a place to lay your head at the cusp of Great Basin National Park and Lehman Caves it was perfect.
