Charming stay at a traditional hotel

The staff were wonderful and very helpful, Clarinet the cat - who I suspect is the real Maitre d'hotel - frequently welcomed us at reception, which was delightful.

As a warning, the hotel is not really accessible. Many stairs and steps before you reach the elevator, which will be difficult for those with limited mobility or unwieldy luggage.

Our room was small and quite hot and humid. No air con in the room, but a fan kept the air moving. Bathroom was good.

The whole property is from a bygone age, which will delight some and frustrate others. The decor is a little tired.

Location is good, very close to the Metro and plenty of good restaurant options within a few minutes (if you like Asian cuisine, the Brigade du Tigre is wonderful and a short walk away). We didn't have breakfast.

This hotel is V Parisienne and v old and quirky. No aircon but a fan. A good breakfast. The bathroom was ok with a fab view over the rooftops of Paris but the handheld shower was awkward. The location is good. The staff are helpful and friendly. I enjoyed staying here. A true local.

We were very happy at Hôtel Chopin for our first trip to Paris! The room was cozy and clean, and fit our needs: somewhere simple, clean, and safe to sleep for a fair price. The front desk staff were all pleasant, polite, and helpful. Breakfast was also very good (continental, so nothing cooked, but the croissants were amazing).

The entrance is down Passage Jouffroy, which was very fun to walk down each day! (Passage Jouffroy is secured at night - use the buzzer by the gate to call the front desk if after 9:00pm.) It is less than half a block to the Grands Boulevards Metro station (follow signs to Musée Grévin) which made it convenient to everywhere in Paris. There are also many restaurants and cafés within an easy walk, and we felt safe on the street, even late at night.

The room did not have air conditioning, (nowhere in Paris does), but they provided a fan, and the room cross-ventilated nicely so it was cool enough to sleep at night.

We would stay here again.

Love this little Gem!

This is a lovely little hotel in one of the historic Paris passages. It is wonderfully located for all the major attractions of Paris. The hotel is comfortable and kept very clean. The staff were all unfailingly cordial and helpful - especially when my misplaced glasses needed to be shipped home to me. Oh, and Clarinette the hotel cat kept us all in line!

Loved the old style charm of the hotel and our windows opened to a nice view of Paris rooftops. Basic room but had everything we needed. Front desk supplied hairdryer and kettle on request. Our room had a fridge which was a bonus. Easy area to walk and Metro very close by. Only issue are the stairs from the front desk are a bit tricky with luggage and the lift is very small. Loads of places to eat - would definately stay again!

Although the receptionist explained that the hotel would be locked after 21.30, she didn’t make it clear that there was no direct access at all.
There needs to be a small card or guide which is issued to every guest as they arrive which explains that, after 21.30 the whole boulevard is chained and locked and that you have to walk right around the block to find the entry gate and even then you have to press the buzzer and wait for access.
Finding yourself locked out of your hotel is not what you need after a long and tiring day!

This is a lovely boutique hotel, reasonably priced in a trendy area with lots of restaurant options. Handicap access has some challenges with several stairs to get to elevator. Also the entrance to the bathroom was a little tight... Probably my size not the hotel's fault.

Very unique property that we enjoyed. People with accessibility issues would need to steer clear—steps to front door, inside lobby, even up to the tiny elevator that is not big enough for a wheelchair! However, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the breakfast (10 euro extra per day) was delicious, and the whole area was charming. Easy access to two metro lines and many places to eat. We had a back room without a view (except top of the passageway and roofs) but that made it super quiet!

This hotel opened in 1846 and it is in great shape in a true Parisian neighborhood in the center of a passage of shops and cafes. My room had bedroom and bathroom windows that opened to the roof tops of Paris and the glass roof of the Passage Jouffroy that glowed pink at night; such a great view! I didn't pay for hotel breakfast as there are plenty of cafes and restaurants outside the door and in the neighborhood offering a variety of cultures of food. Close to bus lines or 20 minute walk to Gare du Nord central train station. I am older solo female and felt safe in hotel neighborhood but always careful around any central train station for pick pockets, etc

Hotel Chopin was a lovely stay. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Especially as I left one of my belongings there as I was leaving, they helped return it to the UK.

The hotel itself its in Jouffrey passage with independent coffee shops and gifts stores etc so there is a lot to do. Its right in the centre with Gare du Nord being a short taxi ride away.

The room was clean and had everything that was needed for a basic stay. Small hotel, but great value for money.

We reserved the budget friendly room for one night. We knew it would be small, but it was filthy. Carpets, walls and hallways were disgusting. I have pictures if needed. The bathroom had been remodeled, but we couldn’t even stand up in shower due to the dormer. Breakfast was ok with fresh squeezed orange juice. Room 413 is an abomination.

Beautiful hotel with lots of character. Great for the price. Superb location in one of Paris' premier passages. Would benefit from a little maintenance in shower so head doesn't need holding. We chose the hotel based on a glowing review in an Australian newspaper without researching any other options . Staff were fantastic. Room good although hot. Electric fan but didn’t help in excessive heat. Bathroom no fan which I thought odd. Bathroom small. Shower needs larger shelve for toiletries. No hairdryer in room. Needs redecorating and modernising. Decorators were onsite decorating public areas. Overall a great location to key attractions with very good staff. Refurbishment and sorting out proper air con would improve my ratings

Great neighborhood, quaint historic hotel

The Hotel Chopin is a charming, historic hotel at the end of an indoor passage full of shops and a restaurant. The location is GREAT for exploring Paris on foot, taking the metro, etc. The neighborhood around the hotel is full of shops, cafes, and amazing restaurants. There is always a lot of activity near by. We loved the area, and we always felt very safe there (especially since the passageway is gated & locked at night, and you have to be buzzed in).

The room itself was TINY, and very hot (we were on the top floor). There is no AC (it's an old building!) and we were there during a heat wave. We requested 2 twin beds since we were friends (not a couple) traveling together. However, the room is so small, the beds were pushed together so it was like one bed. This may be uncomfortable for some. The bathroom did not have a shower. Just a tub, with a moveable spray handle for washing hair. It was not possible to shower standing up due to the length of the sprayer and the slanted roof. We made this work (for 14 nights!). But I can see how this would be challenging for some.

Again, this is a historic hotel. There is a tiny lift (elevator), but you have to access it by stairs first. If you are on the 4th floor, there will be some more stairs after the lift. Consider this if you have mobility issues. It worked for us, and was only a little challenging at check in/check out when we had to haul all our luggage up and down some stairs.

The staff is helpful and kind.

If you want big rooms with air conditioning and all the amenities, this place isn't for you. If you want clean and well maintained, but quant with tiny elevators, half flight stairs everywhere, pets in the lobby, located on internal pedestrian passage (mall), etc. than this is the place. Not cheap but what in Paris is.

This hotel is in a very urban area, it is very close to public transportation and the staff is very polite. However you are at the end of a mall, there are no green spaces around and there was construction going on while we were there. The rooms are very small, you have to carry your luggage up two flights of stairs just to get to the elevator. There is no air conditioning though you are provided with a small fan, which was not helpful during the heat wave.

I would describe Hotel Chopin as quaint with friendly and helpful staff. We had a room on 3rd floor overlooking the rooftops and it was, for me, a wonderful view. The room was very small, not much space to walk comfortably round the bed but that is to be expected from hotels in Paris. The bathroom was airy and light but we had a deep bathtub with a shower overhead. I prefer a walk in shower as it is difficult to get in and out of the bath. The hotel is in one of the \"passages\", which fascinate me with their eclectic mix of shops, and it also meant that we were unaware of the street noise, which can be overwhelming at night. Breakfast, at 10€ was lovely, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. There was plenty of choice and I found it good value. Great central location for those who don't like using the metro as lots of tourist sights are within walking distance. Grands Boulevards metro station is also practically on the doorstep.
Lots of restaurants and cafés nearby, including Le Chartier, which must be on every tourist's list of places to eat, just for the experience.
A good place to stay, reasonably priced for the location. I would be happy to stay there again.

Me and my parents had an excellent stay at hotel Chopin. Hotel is uniquely located in historic Passage in the Grands Boulevards District. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants and walking distance from few of major city landmarks. Have good size rooms, Small lift and good breakfast for £8 per person.
We arrived almost 2 hours before check in time and receptionist Matilda managed a room for us with a very welcoming manner. Anastasia, another Receptionist was very sweet too, gave me a helpful tips and info, also had a very positive and welcoming manner, invited me to an event they have of film release of \"A Letter through the Parisian Years\" which was beautifully managed and organised by hotel staff. Night guy Sami was helpful too.
In addition they also have a lovely cat and dog to add more good vibe.
Overall had a great experience, It was short stay but will deff return in future for longer stay.

Ideally located within walking distance of major attractions, this charming hotel is very welcoming. We asked for a room on 3rd or 4th floor to get a view of the roof tops and although we only had a hand shower over the bath it was more than adequate. Our room 310 had a double and single bed so was quite roomy. It was clean and bright, the breakfast was typical continental but tasty and the staff were delightful, as was Clarinet the resident cat.

Strong Option for a Budget Hotel

The hotel is reasonably pleasant and good value for central Paris, at its price point. The room was dead quiet at night with no traffic noise, though I could hear neighbours at other times of the day (fortunately they were not night owls). The room and bathroom were small--typical of central Paris in lower-priced hotels. Likewise the breakfast room was sometimes cramped if busy. The breakfast is good value. The hotel lobby is charming, as is its location in the Passage Jouffroy, which connects readily with two other attractive Passages (glass-covered historic alleys with interesting shops, cafes, and restaurants along them). Near the hotel in the Passage Jouffroy is the excellent Le Valentin patisserie/cafe, another great asset. And the hotel is near a number of subway stops for very useful lines, that make cross-Paris travel easy, as well as the fabulous Galleries Lafayette department store. Would I stay at the Chopin again? It is an excellent option if you're on any kind of budget, so yes, in that circumstance. I stayed in March, so I have not idea what the hotel is like in summer heat. It was comfortably heated, with a radiator that had adjustable temperature, and there was plenty of hot water. No bathtub in my room, just a good shower in a recently renovated bathroom.

This was the 2nd time we've stay at Hotel Chopin. We love its location in a beautiful arcade with lovely shops and a sumptuous cafe and just down the street from the Galerie Lafayette. Staff are very nice. I love the orange juice making machine... a bit like the game 'mouse trap'. It has old world charm and thankfully a elevator. Great value!

Lovely old hotel in the quaint Passage Jouffroy

One of the oldest hotels in Paris so facilities are limited but this is part of it's charm. 20min walk to Montmartre and about the same down towards the Seine.
Very quiet location, lots of good restaurants and cafes nearby.

Quaint & quirky hotel in the Montmartre District

Overnight stay in Paris to sightsee and visit Giverny - Gare St-Lazarre was walking distance from our hotel

Good hotel for the money!

Good hotel for the money.It is located on a great Area,with walking distance to the metro and many great sites,, like the opera house.The staff is incredible nice! good restaurants around the area.The hotel is an older hotel but it is timeless with lots of charm.

Old world charm

Stayed here for two nights and staff were great, the Arcade is great for shopping, food ,coffee or browsing. Best of all when closed you push a button at the gate for a secure entrance. Great selection of food nearby plus metro 100 mts away.

The hotel has great staff starting with Sofia who was efficient and helpful. Location of hotel in the arcade is fantastic with great shops and places to eat. Top location.

We saw this hotel many years ago and dreamed of staying here one day. It did not disappoint. A friendly welcoming staff in a quirky old fashioned hotel. Rooms basic and storage adequate for our three night stay. No views but certainly quiet.

Hotel Chopin -- A Treasure In A Passage

Tucked into the 19th Century glass covered Passage Jouffroy which runs off the Boulevard Montmartre in the Grand Boulevard area of the 9th arrondissement, the Hotel Chopin modestly but effectively offers every hotel amenity for a completely comfortable and convenient stay in Paris. The rooms are fresh and bright, the breakfasts all one could want, the Metro four minutes from the door, the Louvre a fifteen minute walk. For questions, directions or helpful suggestions there is always someone at the large desk in the small lobby to send the guest to the right destination. We have found our hotel in Paris at the Chopin and will happily return every time we visit.

One word sums it up, WOW:-) For years I have wanted to stay at Hotel Chopin, however, always booked. What a gem of a hotel in terms of location, room comfort, friendliness of staff.
