A nice set-up for a ski-in/ski-out resort. My kids also had great lessons with an English instructor. Getting to Appi Kogen was also quite easy with the buses from Morioka Station. We were also bumped up to a larger room, which was very comfortable, especially by Japanese standards. That was also great. However…..

The only drawback was the very limited food options, especially for dinner with young kids, who don’t eat very much anyway. We live in Japan, so we’re accustomed to Japanese portions, local izakayas, bentos, etc. But this was challenging. It was either spend 20,000¥-30,000¥ for a mediocre buffet, where the kids just wanted a few bites of the simplest food. Or a yakiniku restaurant that would’ve been 30,000¥ - 40,000¥ for a family of 4. High-end sushi spot that would’ve been even more pricey. (The room service menu is quite sad, and again would be close to 20,000¥)

Or, you’re left with getting instant Nissin ramen cups at the convene, which is what we ended up doing the last night. (Breakfast, again, pay steep prices at the buffet, or wait till the bakery opens at the comically late hour of 10:00am, when you of course want to be on the slopes.)

Anyway, I’d suggest packing some of your own bentos, or be prepared to pay. ¥¥¥¥¥¥

This was our last stop on a 4 week snowboarding trip in Japan. The hotel was the nicest of the 4 other places we stayed but it’s a pretty crowded place, the hotel and the mountain. APPI is a great mountain but it’s pretty busy (for Japan standards) and also very exposed to the wind. We were there for 1 week and all but lower lifts were closed 2 times due to high winds and the gondola operated on and off 2 other times. Great place, just not for us

The front desk staff were inattentive and lack proper knowledge and training. For example, I called to cancel a dinner reservation, and I believe they misunderstood me and took it as a reservation request, despite me asking them to confirm that it was a cancellation I wanted. As I expected, they called me later asking why I wasn't as dinner after the reservation. I also asked about snow shoeing, but the front desk staff did not even bother checking and just told me that there are no such activity at the resort. I even showed him photos of the activity but he maintained his reply. Turns out that within your hotel is a store called Appi Explore that offers this activity, albeit it was too early for it. The dinner options are severely lacking. All options are high-priced ones - imagine staying there for a week having to eat only fancy food. A range with different price points would help.

I recommend APPI.

Unexpectedly, we were upgraded and provided with a suite. Four beds were excessive for an elderly couple, but we gratefully accepted the kind gesture. Thank you. Joking, we said it must have been a status match since we hold lifetime platinum in the Marriott programme. We have stayed at this hotel over fifty times in the past thirty years.The guests were predominantly of Chinese descent, mostly Taiwanese, so it wasn't noisy. The only disappointment was that the air conditioning in the main room was faulty, necessitating the use of an extra blanket.

ここ数年連続で「プレミアムスイート、64m2」に宿泊している者です。
施設はしっかり古さを感じますが、
自然が多く、大人から子供まで楽しめるので
何泊しても楽しめると思います。

ただ、例年は気になりませんが、
今回は、部屋の衛生面が酷くて
退室しようか家族で相談したほどでした。

2泊しましたが、清掃してもらっても、
しばらく洗ってなかったのか部屋着が臭くて着用できなかったり、
ソファの下に自分たちの物でない輪ゴム、
カーテンの下にはミニカー、
挙げ句の果てには、部屋の浴槽が気持ち悪いほど汚れており、フロントに電話して清掃してもらったほどです。

このランクの部屋だったからガサツに掃除されたのかはわかりませんが、ここ数年気に入って利用していただけに残念です。
辛口かもしれませんが、事実しか書いていませんので、参考になればと思います。

We had a beautiful mountain view of the slopes. The room seemed old and ready for a renovation. We went on a Japanese holiday so all the restaurants we wanted to eat at had no availability, and neither did the kids daycare service.

Great for families!

Our overall impression of the hotel was good. The skiing was great and ski runs meticulously groomed. There was a good range of choices for food. The food court offered a reasonable choice of food at affordable prices. The Japanese restaurant Nanashigure was the best restaurant we ate at catering to our group of 14 which included 4 young children. Arlberg Restaurant was great for breakfast buffets. We were disappointed with Brisa and Richoen and Bireika was meh!
Our rooms were clean but felt overheated and the temperature could not be regulated except by opening a tiny window for the duration of our stay!
The ski school for children is a great resource for young families who want to introduce skiing to their kids early. The three year olds in our family thoroughly enjoyed their lessons.

APPI Grand is perfect if you want to hit the slopes. The Gondola and Quad lift are just in front of the hotel, and the hotel has plenty of lockers and excellent ski and snowboard rental service with good quality equipment.
The Wifi is free but gets very slow towards the evening.
The onsen inside the hotel is ok, the included onsen 5 minutes away is great. Sad that you have to pay for the Gym and the Pool (even as hotel guests).
There are many restaurants and a food court - however, none of them is suitable for vegetarians. There is a nearby (30min on foot) Lawson convenience store, if everything else fails.

Excellent service but room is average

Hotel service staff is very friendly from driver, reception to dining. The free spa nearby is superb! 1st week of Dec is already snowing with thick fluffy snow for skiing. Overall enjoy the stay at grand appi main building except the furniture is outdated with lots of stains on sofa & carpet.

A bit stuck in the 80s..but not the prices!

It is a pretty dated hotel with nothing around. The staff try really hard but seem worn and jaded. The service is excellent despite that and they will literally move mountains for you if you asked for it. The suite we stayed in had a foul smell coming from the drainhole of the second shower. Otherwise the furniture is old and a little worn out.
The public onsen is OK with good water and facilities but the private onsen is not of acceptable quality. The walls and ceiling are black with mold and water damage everywhere.The garden it faces is sparse and almost dead. I don't mean hibernate for winter dead but more like withered and desiccated dead.
Meals are OK with a decent selection. The soft serve is shamefully poor quality for being in Japan and the scrambled eggs are powdered eggs. Bear in mind there are no other meal options in the immediate vicinity and they know it too.Meals can be ruinously expensive. Overall for the price you pay I struggle to see the value if compared with other resorts in Japan. The snowboarding and the mountain is fantastic if your timing is right but everything else is mediocre in the extreme.

Reminds me of 80s in an American College

The hotel feels like American Colleges built in the 80s, complete with piped in 80s music and cafeteria trays. If you get a room slope side, you can see skiers etc, but honestly who stays in the room in a ski resort. Take the room that faces the carpark much more spacious for about the same price. The public bath within the hotel is always crowded and has lots of stray hair on the floor (and you can't wear footwear in the dressing room area ewwww). Take the shuttle to the outdoor onsen, it's about 3 minutes on the bus. Super convenient, and you'll have a much better experience. Hotel staff are always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. For families, the buffet is the best way to go for dinner; we tried the korean bbq recommended by many travelers, and it was disappointing. The meat was good, but you'll have to pay to top up lettuce and sauce (who does that in a korean restaurant?). And the portion is quite small, not enough to share if you have kids with you. we ended up ordering meals for the kids, which is exorbitantly priced (any ala carte is for this hotel), so it was quite a pain. Breakfast was great; we usually fill up and skip lunch.

概ね快適に過ごせます

10年ぐらい前から利用しているホテルで、その間に何回か経営が変わってますが、ANAの傘下になってホスピタリティがより良くなるかと期待しましたが、前の前の経営の時の方が良かった。
日本での普通のビジネスホテル並みのサービスは受けられるという印象です。リゾートでリラックスしに来た気分では物足りない印象です。
赤坂のANAホテルで受けられたサービスとはホテルのランクが違うので仕方ないのかもしれませんが。
大浴場のロッカーなど施設の整備と部屋のバスルームのアメニティは良くなってました。
窓からの眺めは雄大な自然が楽しめますが、窓ガラスにクリームがついた指で触ったような指紋の汚れがありました。

朝夕のビュッフェがおいしかったです。部屋のアロマを選べるのも良かったです。送迎で行く白樺の湯も露天風呂に色々種類があり、また白樺の林の中でいやされました。翌朝は大浴場を使いましたが、こちらも良かったです。

夕食のバイキングで、すしコーナーにチケット購入必要の掲示が分かりにくく（事前の説明も聞いていなかった）
今回の2ｗの旅行で『すし』が別料金は初めてでした。
他のメニューの内容が良かっただけに別料金は残念。

正月2泊3日本館7F露天風呂付きメゾネットにお世話になりました。フカフカのバスタオル、畳のベッド、露天風呂はあいにくの天気でしたが、スキー・ボードの前後で気持ち良くつかることができました。
シャトルバスで白樺の湯を1回だけ利用しましたが、部屋の露天風呂で充分！
部屋やトイレまわりは清掃が行き届いてます。

食事は、夕朝食付きプラン。夕飯は焼き肉と和食をチョイス。小学生男子も大満足で美味しくいただきました。朝食はアルベルクの大きな窓で景色をみながらオムレツ、スムージー、花巻納豆はタレではなく豆の味がおいしく、きんぴら、安比高原ヨーグルトのソース、何よりお米が美味しく食べ過ぎてしまいました。

ビュッフェスタイルの食事と毎年恒例のカウントダウン打上げ花火で楽しい新年を迎えることができました。
一点残念だったのは、設備の故障なのかどなたかが水を入れたのか分かりませんが、大浴場のお湯が緩く、体が温まらないので部屋で入り直しました。
スタッフは親切丁寧な素晴らしい対応でした。

チェックイン時に、夕食と朝食の時間を聞いて待ち時間を無くすようにしてもらいたいです。朝食時は、混雑して静かに食べる事出来ませんでした。せっかくのロケーションも台無しですねぇ。

悪くないのですが

友人達と三人で１泊しました。
クラウンプラザにリブランドするらしいですが、
今はバブル時代に建った二昔前のホテルという感じです。
ATMの置き方や場所、ホテル内の売店んもお土産屋さんも、どこか古臭い。。。。
朝食時のレストランはまずまず整った感じですが、海外のクラウンプラザに比べると、狭いし、食材も少ない感じです。

まあ、これからIHGがテコ入れするでしょう

夏は人手不足かも

部屋に着いたらベビースターラーメンが絨毯に落ちてました。冷蔵庫のスイッチが抜かれ扉は開いてました。三人なのに洗面所のコップは二つでした。朝行ったら車にすごい傷がついてました。
ロビーの人は頑張っていましたが人手不足でした。

一泊する夕食のレストラン予約の日にちが次の日になっていた。前日に予約連絡を入れ確認したものの、当日チェックインしてびっくり。ホテルのフロントで確認していただかなかったら大変でした。その後、調整してもらい夕食時間も希望時間通りで楽しく過ごせました。

ホテルはきれいで良かったのですが、大浴場の脱衣所の洗面台に、アルコール消毒液だけで、石けん（ハンドソープ）が、無かった。女性は、ドライヤーをかける時に、ヘアークリームを付けたり、メイクしたりするので、ぜひ置いてほしいと思いました。

全体的に良かったです。子供も楽しんでいました。問題があるなら２つ。チェックイン後、部屋のバスルームを見たら誰かの毛が落ちていました。部屋でのシャワーは使用せず、温泉に入りました。もう一つはジムで働いている中年女性が怖かったです。言い方なんでしょうけども、とても強い口調でした。

改善して頂ければまた行きたいです。

以前は清潔で衛生的で快適したが、今回は残念ながら、お部屋や大浴場の更衣室やトイレに改善して頂きたい箇所がありました。
お部屋のインフォメーションのファイルの裏側とファイルが置かれていたラックにお菓子の食べかすがベッタリついてました。
大浴場の更衣室の冷水機が故障中だったのですが、冷水機から漏れた水が、ござのような素材の床に浸みてカビが生えてる箇所がありました。
フロントから１番近い洋式トイレの便座除菌スプレーが全部故障していて、調整中と貼り紙がされてて使用できませんでした。
コロナウイルスの影響で滞在者の人数が少なかったので、不衛生な箇所を避ける事もできましたが、トイレの便座除菌スプレーはコロナウイルスの影響も考えて整備して頂きたいと思いました。
