Deer were in back of property. Maggie and the owner were both very nice, friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and heat took a while to warm up though we slept warm. Hot chocolate was really good. Also, both the Scottish breakfast and the pancake breakfast were good.

Enjoyed the feel of the place. Service was very quick and staff friendly. Food excellent. Room was very adequate and had an abundance of tea and coffee sachets especially the milk portions. Unfortunately there was no teaspoons. This is the only let down but it was no hardship.... we improvised. Would stay again.

Check in was great, felt very welcome.
It’s an old house, quirky.
On way up to room could definitely feel the odd sunken floorboard
Brushed against the wooden radiator cover on the landing and it promptly came away from the wall with us scrabbling to catch it.
The room wasn’t huge, but had 2 chairs so that was a bonus.
The floor slopes from the door to the window, quit a bit. Enough for a 4x4 wooden plank to be put under one side of the bed to make it level.
The bed, although only a double, was actually wry comfortable.
The shower room was pretty small, that’s ok but the actual shower was tiny. My hubby could hardly get in the doors, once he was in, he filled the space, could hardly turn round and had no chance of retrieving the soap when he dropped it LOL
The bar area was good and a great view of the garden.
Breakfast. Well, the tea and toast was good. I don’t recommend getting the scrambled egg and salmon, think the whole lot was microwaved together, it was still in the shape of the bowl when on th plate.
My hubby had full breakfast, the bacon tasted microwaved too and the rest tasted bland.
All in all its needs updating and someone who can cook breakfast.
The staff were friendly and helpful but we definitely don’t think it was value for money, we’ve stayed in far better places for a lot less.

Nice hotel in scenic location

In many ways more like B&B rather than hotel. Public bar downstairs. Breakfast very nice and owner friendly and helpful. Set in a small village with very nice surrounding countryside. My only criticism would be that it was quite expensive for a B&B.

Fabulous stay

Had a lovely stay. Rooms are comfortable, shower good. Hotel slightly dated and could do with refurbishment in the bathrooms but staff and food are absolutely second to none, best breakfast we have ever had. Lovely walks close by, beautiful gardens to sit in, small shop nearby, great bar. Would definitely go back for the breakfast and lovely staff alone, will book a king size bed next time though.

Best place on our highlands tour

This was the best place we stayed at on our tour of the Scottish Highlands. It’s family-run, comfortable and clean. And the food was amazing! It is out of the way from the most common attractions, but it is worth the trip, because it is a wonderful little place located in a quiet part of the highlands.

Great place.

We booked last minute and super late, we call the place and the lady was super nice leaving the keys on a safe spot for us to pick when we arrived past midnight, we are super grateful with her, then we woke up and they made us an amazing breakfast, super friendly people.
We ended it ip here by mistake but we are Happy about this mistake, loved the place and will definitely go back.

I a lovely hotel in the emote banks of Lcoh Shiel. Lovel food and the best night's sleep I've had for ages - it's so quiet. The hotel is very dog friendly with lots of local walks. Good food in the restaurant.

Out in the middle of nowhere within easy walking distance of Loch Shiel. Only dining option is the hotel itself, but the cuisine was tasty. They packed a breakfast for me when I had to leave very early in the morning by bus. Check-in was rather late, so had to wait around for awhile to get my belongings in out of the rain!

Highly recommended. Very comfortable and the staff are welcoming and excellent. The food is fresh, very good and local. Get outdoors when you are here because the portions are big, you'll need an appetite. Warm comfortable rooms. Piping hot water in a powerful shower. Dog friendly! and that doesn't mean 'wet dog smell' either. Great place in a beautiful part of the world.

First stay in a dog friendly hotel and everything went well. I would say it would have been good to have been told up front there was a £10 surcharge for the dog but it wasn't a big problem, happy to pay that. Nice dinner the night we arrived and the room and bed was clean and comfortable. Lovely area and I'd go back again.

No shower

Nice setting and comfortable room but couldn't take shower - only got very got water. Rules about table service at bar were confused and there seemed to be little adherence to wearing masks when not seated.

Potentially much better.

Two main observations. Firstly, the hotel is very tired snd needs a good spruce up. The entrance is very uninviting, drab decor and lacking a welcome. Weeds at the door step would be easily removed. This theme is repeated throughout, and although the room was acceptable, again there are many little things which could be easily rectified - hook on back of shower room door, waterproof seal at the front of the shower, door that doesnt close properly. A handyman / gardener for 2 or 3 dats a week would make a big difference.
On the other hand, the food was excellent, especially the seafood - langoustines, scallops to due for, and very tasty kippers for breakfast.
Covid has obviously made things difficult, but this hotel, in the centre of magnificent and interesting landscapes has the potential to be something far more special.

First the good bits - food was really good, staff were lovely and it’s in a great location for the North part of Ardnamurchan.

Hotel needs some work, bed had no valance sheet, room door stuck, shower was scalding hot, kettle in room was broken, served cold tea with breakfast, one socket in the room, room was unbearably hot with heating on.

Certainly not worth the room rate and way behind some of the B&B’s

Hidden gem Highland Hotel

Small local run privately owned hotel - currently coping with COVID restrictions, as a consequence it has lost some of its soul, however, the owner is very committed and has plans to remedy that very soon. Staff are brilliant, locals are fantastic and great base to explore area.
