The location is fantastic. Lots of dining options and the Village of Oak Creek shops to explore. Very close to some great hiking (Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock). Downtown/Uptown Sedona is not far to drive. My only issue would be the sleeper sofa. Great for the option but old and uncomfortable to just use as a small sofa. Shower was great. Clean, new, plenty of hot water. Location really makes this work.

Unfortunately once we entered our hotel room the excitement was gone. The room had a terrible smell. We ended up buying fragrance candles to help with the smell.
The bed was so uncomfortable. The mattress was hard and you could feel the coil springs. The sheets and duvet had a terrible smell and felt like sandpaper.
The bathroom area where the toilet and shower were was extremely small. The door had been modified to allow it to clear the toilet so it could be opened and closed.
Electrical outlet near the bed was hanging out of the wall. Carpet was dirty and smelled.

Breakfast at Firecreek Coffee next door was pleasant, but the real prize was the three pound sticky bun from the Red Rock Cafe nearby. Verde Canyon railway is relatively close and worth your time. Definitely recommend staying here if you are traveling in the area.

We checked out at 6:30 AM, still waiting on the receipt. Called to ask and they said they had to wait for cleaning staff to clear the room. The owner and I had a long conversation about the area and the property. The rooms are comfortable and clean but somewhat dated. The owner is gradually updating the rooms. The property is in a safe area and very conveniently located near some really good restaurants, etc. It is a short drive to downtown Sedona so you can easily visit and take in the sights without being in the middle of a lot of activity when you're ready to rest.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Desert Quail Inn. The rooms are a good size, and the location was great! My only slight disappointment was that the bed was a little too hard for me, but that's a personal preference.

I was in the Sedona area for a hiking trip, traveling solo. The Desert Quail was clean, safe, and in a great area close to the trails I wanted to hike. Would much rather stay here in Oak Creek than in crazy busy downtown Sedona. Great food within walking distance as well. I'd stay here again.
