Poor room conditions and staff were not trained for a 5-star hotel. The hotel refused to accommodate a date change while the hotel was almost empty !
Staff were not properly trained to treat customers professionally, and many struggled to speak basic English.
Gym was in bad condition. Broken equipments, damaged floors and leaking roofs
The experience was like a 3.5-star hotel.

We have stayed at the Po hotel a few times before. Its location is excellent and all the staff are lovely. It’s the same problems as last time: it’s just a bit run down these days. The shower head wall holder was broken, the shower head itself squirted most of the water out the side, and the towels were still pretty old and threadbare.

Some new towels and some minor renovation (new shower heads which cost pennies) would transform the hotel back to its former glory. If the management do read this review, please do try and get this little things fixed.

The last issue is that the fire detectors flash a bright green light every few seconds. Fine in the daytime to check they are working but at night it’s like a strobe light right in your face. I am sure these don’t need to be like this.

A couple of small issues that actually mean the stay is disappointing. Hopefully these will be rectified before we come back again next year. 🙏🙏

The Po hotel is great, in an amazing location above the mall. The staff are lovely and the hotel itself is really nice. Beds are so, so comfy.

But ….

The towels are old and threadbare, and the AC doesn’t get the room cold. I turned it to 16C and full fan, but the room was still like a furnace. The corridors and public areas were lovely and cool, but rooms were so hot.

This could be an amazing hotel, just needs these two minor things fixed

Should not call itself a 5 star property. Some staff tried to be helpful, but if AC is barely functioning, bed sheets have stains and the fridge don’t work may as well be camping. I’ve stayed at much better for much less.

The bathroom fixtures were falling apart. No hot water in the faucets. Called the servicing team, and they had to wait 30 minutes by letting water flow to activate the geyser- very disappointing. There were broken tiles, mold in the sink, rusty mirror glass.

Large, clean hotel in a good location. On-site food options are absolutely terrible. The Gris restaurant is honestly the worst restaurant I have been to in Semarang by a long shot. The Christmas meal special was simply an absolute mess. All meats served by the barbecue chef were undercooked (chicken pink inside), the beef wellington was cold and soggy, and the buffet selection was truly pathetic. For a five-star hotel, I and my guest expected better.

Overall the hotel is good. However the carpet looks old, wifi is slow, and the faucet is hard and leaking.

I never been a hotel with such a bad service!

Check-in time is 2pm, but can only get the room after 5:30pm. They keep asking me to wait, and ruin my whole afternoon. My feet got cut at the swimming pool as the wooden staircase is loosen and cut my feet. I got double charge my restaurant for my breakfast, and wait at the checkout counter for 20 mins for them to fix while I’m rushing to pack and leave. They then forget to count the last night of my stay and need me to settle the different again after settled the master bill! I never been to a hotel with such a bad service!

Non-smoking rooms only on \"best-effort\" basis

When checking into this establishment, the hotel tried to blame me for not indicating my preference for a \"non-smoking room\" despite clear indication on my booking confirmation for just that. When confronted on the lie, the hotel indicated that \"non-smoking room\" preferences are facilitated only on a best-effort basis.

Seems like the very basic health of a non-smoker is treated as a \"best-effort\" matter despite the world-renown effects of second-hand smoke. Kudos to Po Hotel for the hardly restful night in an ash-scented room.

The biggest problem with this place is its location. It’s connected to a huge mall which is always crowded and the only way to get to the hotel is to pass the mall. The traffic is absolutely terrible and you cannot get in or out of the place without getting stuck in traffic.

Smoking rooms are a health hazard

As a non-smoking room wasn't available, we booked a smoking room thinking it would compare to other smoking rooms we had previously stayed in, with only a mild scent of tobacco. But stepping out of the elevator on the 9th floor there was already a strong smell of smoke. Inside the room it was overwhelming. Knowing how bad it was, they had placed a large portable air purifier in the room. This was comical as they could have added nine more and it would have had no effect. Instead, they should be regularly deep cleaning the carpet, drapes, upholstery, etc. which clearly they don't do.

We spoke to the evening manager working on the 14th and asked for a non-smoking room which he refused to give without us paying an upgrade charge of an additional IDR 1,500,000 / $115. They know how bad these rooms are but still required us to pay. So we stayed in our original room and I woke up with a headache which I'm certain was caused by the air in the room.

On a positive note, other than this, the rooms, pool, gym, and hotel overall are great. The staff are amazing. If you can get a non-smoking room, I'd recommend the hotel. But until they start regularly deep cleaning the smoking rooms, for your health I'd avoid those.

Wonderful hotel in Semarang

We were in Semarang over the Easter weekend and had a great time! Staying in Crowne Plaza certainly enhanced our experience; it was nice coming back to a strong hot shower and comfortable bed. The reception was always smiles and accommodated our request for late check out. Location was ok, you can get to places by taxi cheaply. Would highly recommend!

Good Hotel, Nice accommodating staff. First room given was very nice with nice view, but faced the mosque which turned out to pipe a chirping noise until late in the night. This noise was quite apparent in the room. We called thinking it was something in the room, but were informed it was the mosque sound system. They offered a new room right away. Would stay here again.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Semarang for 10 nights. This has been my first stay in Indonesia and in a Crowne Plaza hotel, both of which I really enjoyed.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the Paragon mall, which has lots of restaurants, shops and other amenities. I found the staff at the hotel very kind and helpful, even helping on where I could go to get flowers!

I would definitely recommend this hotel, and if I am in Semarang again, will certainly book here again.

Stayed there for 2 nights. Room was spacious and comfortable and has open concept design, which is very refreshing.
Location is quite convenient since the hotel is on top of shopping mall, so you can get almost anything in a very short distance. Very suitable for someone who just wants to relax. On the downside, room is not really soundproof, so you can hear loud noises when your neighbor decides to talk a little bit louder. Due to this, I didn't give full point on Room Comfort

Front desk staff was ok, but please don't ever visit the spa. Suppose to massage for 1hr and they finished it in 40mins and say its done. Worst part, you have sit up for them to massage your shoulder, and the bed is making way too much noise.

I stayed in this hotel with my family. What I loved the most staying in Crowne Plaza Hotel Semarang was the fact that it is in the same building with Paragon Mall. So anytime I needed something (coffee, snacks, etc), I could just easily went to the mall. Easy to check-in, to check-out, to get taxi to go anywhere you want. Wort every single Rupiah I paid.

My first ever trip to Semarang was supposed to be me and my family, meeting my to-be in-laws for the first time. And I could not ask for a more suitable place to mark one of my life's precious moment at. Crowne Plaza was everything that I had in mind. Great overall ambience. Warm and friendly staffs. Room was impeccable, food ordered via room service was \"MasterChef\" worthy, nice plush beds and pillows. Location was spot-on; Paragon Mall connect via the lower floors of the hotel and other places to visit, explore and eat was just a stone's throw away. Wi-fi was consistently good. Other amenities including the pool, gym and restaurant was surprisingly above standard.
The hotel has its own persona and charm which leaves a lingering \"I wanna come back\" vibe.

I spent 6 nights here in total and from the moment you arrive, the service is impeccable; polite, courteous and attentive. Rooms are big and fully equipped, as you would expect from a genuine 5* hotel. My only gripe about the room would be that the luxurious duvets are a little on the warm side..

Strong wifi, excellent service and the complimentary drinks/food in the business lounge were much appreciated.

Gym has all the machines you need for a full work out and the adjacent pool is half in the sun and half undercover which keeps the water lovely and cool.

Breakfast buffet is huge, high quality and fresh. The head chef even wanders around the food display to meet guests and explain his dishes.

The staff take the time to remember your name to make the stay even more personal. Nothing is too much trouble.

Another positive is the location; 5 minutes from the main Simpang Lima area by taxi and there is a door linking the Crowne Plaza to the Paragon Shopping Mall. Here you can find plenty of food, drink, clothes and there is even a multi screen cinema.

You won't be disappointed
