Spectacular location right at the Kochelsee, overlooking the lake, with a nice terrace for a cool beer or outdoors dining, and stylish restaurant and common areas with lots of decorum, reminiscing of times past when travel in luxury was the thing. I would love to give 5 stars, but my just below the roof room with lots of stairs and no elevator requires a little impact. 4 ½ would have been fairest. For fellow travelers : there are only 2 such rooms, so you may be lucky.

A very pleasant room in an old period building full of character. The room was clean, welll maintained and very comfortable. The area is very beautiful and alive with wildlife. The restaurant served an excellent dinner and breakfast. In conclusion this is a lovely place to be if you like the countryside and the beautiful lake.

Lovely hotel next to Kochel see. .

We booked this hotel for its proximity to the Franz Marc Museum. It's a lovely hotel, and you can swim in the lake from steps down from the hotel's wellness centre. We also visited the Walchensee Museum which has over 300 drawings by Corinth and other less well known but excellent women artists. We ate twice in the restaurant which had a great menu with regional dishes - including fish from the lake.

Nice hotel, but plan ahead

2 hours before we left the States, our flight was cancelled. I immediately contacted the hotel to change our reservation, as we would be arriving a day later. The hotel explained that we would have to take a different price room as that was the only one available. I agreed, assuming we would get the other room cancelled. When we returned Stateside, the hotel charged us for both rooms. and refused to consider a refund, even though we had no control over the situation. The food, rooms and service were excellent, but the poor customer relations that the hotel showed toward International travellers gets it 1 rating.
If you want to stay there, book it after you arrive in country and save yourself some money.

Disappointed in our basement room

I booked a \"Double Room, Lakeside\" that was described as having a balcony with lake views. We were shown to a room in basement that walked out to a small patio that looked at a hedge and what may have been a private dining area. We could, technically, glimpse the lake from the patio. If I had known there was even a REMOTE possibility that we'd have a room in a basement, I NEVER would have booked this hotel.

Oh, and if that wasn't enough, I couldn't spend more than 3 minutes in the bathroom without stuffing up. Given that there weren't a lot of grass & trees in the bathroom, there must have been mould or something in there to cause the allergic reaction. It smelled incredibly musty, too.

Also, we could only get a signal for the WiFi in one half of our room. And of the three codes we were given to access WiFi, only two worked.

Great location off the beaten track, but still reasonably close to the autobahn and Garmisch. The breakfast buffet was one of the better ones (selection) that I've seen in Europe and the evening meal (venison) was outstanding!

Rooms are quite basic. We had booked our room in advance and were guided to a small dark room under the roof. The hotel was pretty empty but they did not give us another room, at lower level. Staff was friendly but rather inflexible.

Wonderful place for a short getaway. Easy to access and lots to do in the area. They had a rowboat to loan out on the lake. Service was exemplary - food at the restaurant was great. Room could have had fewer cobwebs, but with the older building and high ceilings understandable - has been renovated, and I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a quick trip to southern Germany!

Most friendly place I have visited in quite some time. Right on the lake, Fantastic view, great restaurant - HUGE PORTIONS!!! very tasty food, One of the best breakfasts we've had. The last day we had to leave early so I excused myself for not cpming for breakfast. Right away we were offered a meal that awaited us bright and early! HIGHLY RECOMENDED!Bathroom could be a bit more accomodating Beds are outstandingly comfortable.

Great hotel at the great location

The hotel has got a gread location right by the lake and the main road. There's a free parking outside the hotel. Restaurant has got a beautiful view on the lake, that made our complementary breakfast unforgettable. Near by is the museum with the old traditional houses that shows how the local people used to live there, that is worth to see. Over all I was satisfied with my stay here and I would stay here again.

Nice hotel in a scenic location

The Seehotel is a nice hotel in the Garmisch region of Germany. While we used it as an alternative to staying in pricier Garmisch, it was fine for us as it was still on the way to our final destination in Italy. The lakeside location is beautiful anytime of the year with the view from the dining area being especially pretty. It was nicely decorated for the Christmas holiday, thus making for a memorable visit. Ask for a lakeside room, if possible!

Excellent, friendly hotel

Really enjoyed our 3-night stay in Kochel. Hotel was excellent; really friendly and helpful staff. Sadly the resident masseuse, Irmi was recovering from an accident so we had to do without any treatments but the Wellness Centre was good (if the steam-room was slightly tepid). A separate bar area (from the restaurant) is always our preference but doesn't seem to be de rigeur throughout Kochel.

Altes, klassisches Seehotel aus der \"guten alten Zeit\". Sehr gepflegt und stilvoll. Nicht das modernste Hotel, aber das weiß man vorher, oder? Extrem nettes und zuvorkommendes Personal. Ein Platz um im Kopf zur Ruhe zu kommen und sich eine Auszeit zu nehmen. Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer zur Straße. Nicht 100% optimal, da sehr viel Verkehr (auch Teilweise nachts). Aber trotzdem gemütlich und ich konnte sehr gut entspannen.

Das Hotel ist zwar schon in die Jahre gekommen, dennoch wird es sehr sauber gehalten. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Zum Frühstück gab es jeden Tag die beste Auswahl, reichlich von allem. Stets frisches Obst, auch schon als Obstsalat zubereitet.
Nur einen kleinen Minuspunkt gibt es dafür, dass das Hotel keine kleine Aufmerksamkeit zu meinem Geburtstag übrig hatte, den ich während des Aufenthalts hatte. Schade

Die Angestellten waren alle sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, das Zimmer war super, sauber und schön gelegen. Schön war die Möglichkeit sich in der Lounge einen Tee zu machen und den Kühlschrank zu nutzen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war super und das Abendessen auch. Die Portionen für das Abendessen waren sehr üppig und es bestand die Möglichkeit sich ein Gericht zu teilen.

Das Hotel ist familiengeführt und der Service ist wirklich mehr als hervorragend. Wir leben vegan und es wurde, ohne Anfrage, extra Käse, Joghurt und Milch gekauft. Für unsere kleine Tochter wurde immer mit gedeckt und alle sind wirklich lieb mit ihr umgegangen.

Das Bad war sehr klein und leider immer kalt. Es war etwas unangenehm aus dem warmen Bett in ein kaltes Bad zu müssen. Zudem waren die Federkernmatratzen sehr hart und man hat die Federn gemerkt :/

Gleichzeitig kann man sonst an nichts klagen und wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Das Hotel liegt etwas außerhalb von Kochel, jedoch ist man bereits nach einem kurzen Spaziergang von etwa 15 Minuten im Zentrum.
Wir wurden sehr nett begrüßt und hatten ein wunderbares Zimmer mit Balkon in Richtung See, was ich jedem empfehlen würde, die Aussicht ist einfach traumhaft!
Auch würde ich erwarten, dass die Zimmer, die richtung Straße/ Berg liegen, doch etwas Verkehrslärm abbekommen. Im Zimmer zum See haben wir davon überhautp nichts mitbekommen.

Im Nebenhaus gibt es ebenfalls einen sehr schönen Gemeinschaftsraum, in dem man gemeinsam Sitzen kann, gemütlich Lesen kann (hier gibt es ein Großes Bücherregal, Wasserkocher für Tee, eine kleine Stereoanlage für Musik :)....).

Das Frühstück war sehr sehr lecker, sehr gute Tees, sehr gute Auswahl und Leckereien.

Auch die Sauna hat mir sehr gut gefallen, man kann direkt von der Sauna durch den Ruheraum direkt in den Kochel-See, hier gibt es einen schönen flachen Einstieg zum Erfrischen und eine tolle Terrasse zum Abkühlen nach der Sauna.

Alles in allem würden wir hier auf jeden Fall wieder bleiben.

Was soll ich sagen.

Das Hotel fand es nicht nötig die Anfahrt zum Hotel zu räumen, so dass wir trotz Winterreifen erst wieder von der Ausfahrt fahren konnten als wir SELBST den Weg frei geschaufelt haben. Geschneit hatte es 2 Tage zuvor.

Wir : \"Wir kommen nicht heraus weil sie die Einfahrt und Ausfahrt nicht geräumt haben\".
Hotel : \"Wir haben ja auch noch nicht offen.\"
Wir : \"Wie konnten wir dann buchen.\"
Hotel : - keine Antwort
Wir : \"Könnte dann jemand helfen die Ausfahrt so freizuschaufeln, dass wir wieder herauskommen.\"
Hotel : Rezeptionistin dreht sich um und ignoriert uns.

Als ich dann fast 20 Minuten schaufelte kam eine unfreundliche Dame die wohl im Hotel arbeite und fragte : was machen sie da?
Ich : Den weg freischaufeln weil sie Ihre Einfahrt nicht räumten - aber keiner des Hotels helfen will.
Frau geht wieder weg.

Zu den Zimmern : Muffig. Gestank. Kalter Rauch.

Essen im Restaurant war gut.
Frühstück war gut und ausreichende Auswahl

Insgesamt hält das Personal nicht viel von Service.

Vorneweg: Abendessen, Frühstück und der Service ist Spitzenklasse! Leider sind die Zimmern sowie das Klo/Badezimmer extrem klein. Der Wellnessbereich ist ok. Ein bisschen veraltet. Ferner muss man für das Whirlbad extra bezahlen.
