The room was okay in and of itself. People that run it were very nice. Three major problems. First the main heating unit didn't work
They had a very small heater that sucked. I had to go out and buy one. Secondly, the power kept going out. I couldn't use two heaters and watch TV at the same time. Power went out five times. I had to settle for not being able to watch TV or freeze my butt off. Third problem was that the toilet became stopped up and I couldn't get it unclogged with the plunger that was in the room.
Bottom line is that they should have offered me another room. There were more empty rooms available but they didn't mention moving me to one that at least had heat. Before I would stay there again I would make sure that the room was properly heated and that I could watch TV and not have to worry about the power going out

When I first pulled in, the hotel itself gave off bad vibes, doors opening directly outdoors, each room having an outside chair and a small bucket for cigarettes (I don't smoke for the record) and it just looked like one of those cheap motels people might stay in for an extended period when they don't have a lot of options. When I first got into my room, I was nervous about what I was going to see. But it was clean, the WiFi was strong, TV had plenty of channels, it had a large refrigerator, the bed was comfortable, this was a great room! The only downside was the breakfast options. Because the tables were right up against the windows, I decided to take what I wanted back to my room, rather than sit where I'd exposed to the sun's heat. Not too bad of a place

Adequate for the price for unassuming guests

Because of the nature of our trip and it was just myself and my husband, it was adequate, but if we had had our family with us we would have looked for somewhere else. It was a place that offered long term stay for workers and families so we don’t feel it was family oriented, but like I said the nature of our trip and being away from the Inn quite a bit it was adequate and affordable and a place to sleep for for the nights.

First there was trash all over outside the facility as well as cans overflowing. Our door lock....no chain and the deadbolt didn't work. The lady provided us a medium size bag of ice, instead of allowing us to get our own. The room was clean and we couldn't hear the neighbors when the door was closed. Location wasn't bad for one night but we will not be returning. During check-in, she couldn't find my reservation and asked me if I had already paid. I could have lied but didn't and made sure I paid her.

This hotel needs a lot of work if not a complete renovation. It smells like fish likely from the sitting water in the pool. The bathtubs are dirty, stained, and peeling. There is paint splatter for the layered paint. Smells like mildew. If it wasn’t so late I would have requested a refund and moved somewhere else. We booked two nights but only stayed one. There was no real breakfast just coffee and a muffin, there was only two muffins the few times I checked. Sadly not even worth the low budget price you pay.

Won't go there again.

The first room had 2 beds first one I looked at had sheets that had hair on them and looked dirty. The front desk lady brought more sheets but as she was gone I discovered the 2nd bedding was also not up to my comfort so she took us to a different room that looked a little better but there was stains on the carpet that looked like blood. After I Lysoled the whole room we did finally sleep but just didn't feel at ease or comfortable there. Didn't like the kids touching anything. I just had a bad feeling lots of bad things have happened there for some reason and didn't like having my grandkids there. It was supposed to have free breakfast but there was no coffee out, and only 2 xsmall (tiny) muffins and a small honey bun and that was it. Just didn't feel good.

The room was absolutely horrible, it smelt like smoke. It was very dirty. There was urine all on the toilet there was stuff all over the walls. The pillows were like airplane pillows, so tiny, and there wasn’t even a real blankets on the bed. There was stuff all over the floor. The air conditioning barely worked. The bathtub was disgusting. Even the smoke detector didn’t have batteries in it. It was left open. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody especially families with children.

What not to get in a hotel room!!

There were several folks in residence, personal bbq grills and lawn furniture in front of several doors. The rooms smelled of smoke, one of the shower stalls was covered in black dye and I was afraid to walk on the carpet. Told my adult children that we’re never staying there again. The rooms were designed to promote tourism, you sure didn’t want to stay in the rooms. All in all, not so good.

Upon arriving, they couldn’t get to hotels .com web site to get me checked in, took 20 minutes and three people then they found their log on pass word.

My room door had a 2 inch gap at the bottom

Breakfast is my worst ever.

With all the rooms available they put at 2:30am loud people next to my room.

Clerk was inept and incompetent regarding Expedia reservations. His attitude was poor. He needed another person to assist him and that person asked the same questions the first clerk asked. It took over a half hour to complete registration. I found several bugs in the tub in the ankle deep water after my shower. It took 45 minutes for the tub to drain. Internet service was unavailable after almost 2 hours of trying to connect. I will not return to this property again!!!!

Liked the proximity to restaurants and the theme park we're going to tomorrow. Decent rates. Pleasant staff. We could have used more pillows and blankets, but it was comfortable. Beds comfortable. TV selection was great for the 4 kids i had with me. My check in through Orbitz got complicated somehow, but i think that was just the computers having issues between the website & the hotel computer. Id recommend it to friends and will stay here again if available when i make this annual trip with my son & grandkids.

I really like the location and the staff.... Travelocity promised me an early check-in with no additional cost but there was an additional day added to my bill for checking in a few hours early... I had 2 rooms so it was an unexpected expenses for just being ahead of schedule a few hours to get in a empty room I had already reserved...

This place is a dump. I have stayed at this place 3 times in the last 4 years, all as overnights between daily visits to Holiday World. In the past, it has met my expectations for simply a clean place to take a shower and lay my head down at night. This year was horrible. I believe the place has recently changed hands, and the condition is just deteriorating. The paint is bubbling and flaking off the walls and ceilings. The shower curtain was torn. They do not have a good supply of linens in case you need a few extra towels or sheets. Another person in my party found mouse droppings in her bed....and she hadn't even had food in her room. The pool was green and out of order, but managed to become a habitat for numerous frogs who kept others in my party up at night. It is no longer worth the value. I will stay somewhere else during my next visit to the area.

This was awful. This is the third time in four years I have stayed at this place. It only keeps getting worse! I have stayed there all three times as overnights between days at nearby Holiday World, so I was basically staying for just a clean bed and shower. It doesn't even suffice for those purposes anymore. The motel is in deteriorating condition. The pool was green and not open. Another person in my party found mouse turds in their bed. Paint was bubbling and flaking off the walls. There were not enough clean linens to go around. It certainly was not worth the $65/night that I paid. The place is an absolute dump and I will never stay there again!

Don't waste your time or money

Booked hotel for the weekend only stayed 1 night! Hotel needs to be tore down a rebuilt. Pool was green it didn't look like it had been opened in years! Room appeared to be clean trash was under the bed and all the linen was dingy. If you are African American don't stay in this area PERIOD unless you want to get starred at the entire time.

GO To Holiday Inn Express.

Terrible completly trashy. the pictures on this site are VERY outdated. Room smelled like old smoke something was biting my feet. The toilet seat was complete dry rotted. GROSS Pretty certain drugs are main source of income for people that live there .luckily found a room at the holiday inn. We never stayed in the room but was checked in for 2 hrs. could only get 1/2 my money.

Budget Hotel near Holiday World

I wanted a place to stay for one night that was cheap and close to Holiday World. Mission accomplished.
Positives - the bed was comfortable, there was a fridge, shower was nice with hot water for all 4 of my family, staff was friendly, location to fast food and Wal-Mart were extremely convenient
Negatives - there was no soap in the room, breakfast was on the skimpy side, room and bathroom needed TLC even for a budget hotel

This was a working trip of 10 days. When I got to the hotel and checked in the floor of my room was soaking wet. The a/c was leaking on the floor. The maintenance man fixed it but 5 days later it started doing it again. The wifi did not work at all anywhere on the property.

Office and pool are the only thing I can say is OK about this hotel.
The rooms have just been let go for a long time, bathroom sink was stopped up, tub was badly stained
and shower just let out a trickle of water. toliet was very slow. Bed was OK and air condition was good.

The Days Inn Hotel in Tell City is not a high class hotel but it is definitely well worth the expense as opposed to other hotels in the area. The staff was extremely nice. I am a local here and I had my girlfriend stay in the hotel. The room I was booked for was upgraded to a 2 bed because the air conditioner was out in the old room. Graciously and quickly I was upgraded. I was very very pleased to that. The room is a little old. It could use a little updating like the TV. Also another thing is the wifi was a bit hectic, but if they ever see this it should be an easy fix. Tell city has many things to offer that are scenic, such as the Ohio river, eagles bluff, plenty of restaurants. I will say that some of the locals here kind of hang around in this area so the hotel kind of gets a bad reputation. I know that from personal experience and being a person who actually stayed in the hotel it isn't as bad as what they say. The hotel might not have everything you need, but the customer service is extremely nice and well mannered. It is something you would expect from a small town.

The staff was nice and helpful.

The location was convenient for my family's getaway, only 30 minutes to Holiday World. It was also nicely located close to a Mexican restaurant, a couple of fast food restaurants, and a small strip mall for eventual last minute purchases.

The rooms used to be for smokers and one could tell. The stool had issues flushing and needed extra attendance. The door locks took several long winded tries before they worked.

The pool was somewhat clean and separate towels were available.

It was ok to stay a night, maybe two, but no longer.

We first checked in had a room that smelled like pure smoke; which we reserved a non-smoking room. They switch rooms with no problems. All of the rooms are outdated, but for $56 a night what would you expect. Great location; close to food, gas, and a Wal-Mart & Dollar Tree which is always a plus.

The reviews didn't look too terrible so I decided it was cheap and I'd stay. Next time I'll not be a cheapskate. It was dirty and disgusting. Not to mention I didn't feel safe for a second. Being a single mom it was scary, especially with the fist fight outside my room from the bar that was located basically on the front lawn. Then at 12:30 am someone best on my door and woke me and the kids up, some nasty looking woman standing there that I had to tell to go away. I called the front desk and was told that I should call the police. Luckily she left and I didn't have to call.

The hotel, of course, is in the heart of a small, rural town. The employees of the hotel were as friendly as you could expect based on the surrounding for that community. Overall, my stay was acceptable and met my expectations based on the pictures from the site. The continental breakfast was just cold cereal, toast and juice which was actually good, but the size of the breakfast area is not met to accommodate large groups of people due to the fact that they only have one or two tables for you to sit. The room, I must say, was not worth the nightly rate I paid but I hind sight is always 20/20. I will be staying at the Ramada Limited next year, if at all possible.

Took a family trip to Holiday World after coming from the park that night got to the room to discover the air stopped working. It was late that night and no maintenance person was on duty. Ask for towels had to wait until housekeeping reported to work the next day then we were told they only had pool towels available but we never received those.

Good rooms for price

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in

The light bulb was burnt out (my husband changed it) We went to breakfast and everything was empty coffee, milk only one slice of bread and one bagel left. The front desk clerk (Beth) was sitting in her chair didn't stand up and greet us when we walked in the lobby she didn't get up and restock the breakfast items. There was trash all over the floor. Other guest were coming in to eat and left because there was nothing left. When we went back to the room to take our showers it didn't turn on so I called the front desk and Beth told me to turn the knob---wow I should have thought of that---needless to say we didn't get to take our showers--we weren't offered another room or have maintenance come to see if he could fix it---terrible customer service. This hotel looks very outdated. We were put in a row of rooms not attached to the hotel itself -- dirty hallways and old tables stacked in the hall -- entrance doors very dirty with cob webs.

Marginal at best

For being advertised as renovated in 2011 this hotel was a major disappointment. The decor was reminiscent of the late 1990s, the continental breakfast was always out of food, and the bathroom was in disrepair. On top of all of that, the hotel staff has been less than helpful retrieving some forgotten property. The only real thing going for it, it is relatively close to Holiday World. However, I would not stay there again, even if I had to drive further.

Also wasn't aware that our room would be right next to a bar entrance where they were making noise most of the night. Worst hotel I ever stayed at!

We went with a large group of people to Holiday World. This hotel did not place us anywhere near each other. Our rooms were dirty and smelled like a smoking room, although it was in non-smoking section. It was dirty and part of the floors were wet. We coykd hear our neighbors talking next door through the thin walls. The fridge in the room went off in the middle of the night, like making a strange very loud noise. I was scared for bed bugs!
The most infuriating part was the \"breakfast\". There was literally one bagel, no plates, cups, utensils, ... Napkins... Nothing. We asked the girl sitting at the desk and she came and restocked the plates and such but she said it will be about 30 minutes until her coworker can come with more bagels. What? They should calculate that beforehand. Based on the number of people in the rooms, there should be food stocked accordingly. We paid $90/night for a terrible experience. Overpriced and doesn't deliver.

Great hotel and good pool

We like it the staff was good room was ok but the problem was the floor stuff on it and I found prices of glass on the floor but I pick it up and throw away. But my being there was fun and I would probly use it again thank you for letting me get it.

not worth the money. room want Ready when we got there. run down. the beds kept sliding of the box springs. the room was very old and run down. the only good thing was the kids liked the pool. more like a 38 dollar a night place, then 73.

LOTS OF KIDS ON FRI-SAT...

...THE PROXIMITY TO HOLIDAY WORLD AND THE POOL MEANS YOU WANT TO TRY TO GET A ROOM AWAY FROM THE POOL (AND PARTICULARLY THE STAIRS). THE STAFF WAS CONGENIAL, BUT AS A SMALLER ESTABLISHMENT'S ECONOMICS DICTATE, CERTAIN LEVELS OF SERVICE WERE A TAD HAPHAZARD. ALL THINGS CONSIDERED FOR WHAT I NEEDED, I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN.

NICE FOR THE PRICE.

JUST WANTED A CHEAP HOTEL NEAR HOLIDAY WORLD. THIS IS COMFORTABLE. CLEAN. THE PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE WERE NICE AND HELPFUL. WHEN WE CAME IN TO REGISTER THERE WAS FRUIT IN A BOWL THAT WE COULD HAVE. NICE CHANGE FROM MINTS. GAVE US COUPONS FOR NEXT STAY. IT IS OLD BUT KEEPED UP. THANKS FOR THE STAY.

An unusual bad experience

I always stay here when i am in the area, and i often am. The staff is always very friendly and helpful, the location is better than that of other Tell City hotels, and the rooms have always been clean and servicable.
This visit was worse than any before, for a couple of big plumbing-related reasons. Maybe it was because of he location of the room, but water took forever to get hot. In the sink, (which didn't drain, or all practical purposes), it never got hot. I had to run the shower for a full ten minutes before any warm water came along. Then it got worse. When the water was finally hot enough, the shower wouldn'twork. Not at all. I took a camp-style shower, standing in the tub and dousing myself with water from the little Days Inn coffee cup. As i checked out, i reported that to the (otherwise very helpful) desk clerk, who said he would have \"maintenance\" look at it. But he offered me no price adjustment or other relief. Sure, the Days Inn is a budget-friendly place. But i never would pay that price for a room without a shower. And the room was not as clean as i have come to expect.
I have always liked staying here and wish i could give a better review.

Days Inn - Tell City, Indiana

We were conveniently located near the front of the hotel..thus near the office. All was well except the wireless connection. We had to go outside to connect. Hotel is close to Holiday World and reasonably priced...also near lots of fast food and shopping places. Overall, stay was enjoyable and we will probably stay there again due to the low cost and convenience to other places.

At least it's cheap.

Kind of a dump, but $40 cheaper than any other hotels in the area.
If you're staying one night to go to Holiday World like we did, it's tolerable.
If you're staying longer, try something else.
