Waiting 15 minutes for someone to check us in. Walked into the room and noticed right away it wasn’t very clean just by the smell of stale air and mildew. In the bathroom the shower head was covered in mildew, hair all over shower walls, around the toilet was disgusting and moldy, dropped something on the floor and looked up while under the sink and it’s full of mold. Main room was too bad at first. Found trash and someone wallet full of money (turned into front desk) under the beds, pulled sheets back and the fitted sheet was filthy and had dried boogers on it. Thankfully we always bring our own just incase. The heater smelled like it was on fire everytime it kicked on. Tried to turn the fan on so it would drown out noise to sleep and it screeched and smelled so we turned it off completely. The fridge made a loud clicking noise every 10-15 seconds all night. You could hear every noise in hallways and from other rooms. I heard someone knocked on the door every hour all night long. Checkout was at 11, at 930 housekeeping walked into our room even after we yelled 3 times no thank you. Was just overall the worst hotel we have ever stayed at.

Front desk clerk had to be called to the front desk by using a phone on the front desk. Came to desk in flip flops and a cordless phone with major bed head. Will never stay at another Days Inn. The room was not cleaned properly, when entering the room there was a dirty sock under the edge of the bed. In further looking under the bed another sock was found that didn’t match the first sock as well as a dental pick.Only 1 channel worked on tv. The sheets on bed had ripped edges.
Breakfast cereal was stale.
Front desk was not attended, always had to call for someone to come help.

The room was filthy. The floors had dried on food - I hope it was food. It wasn't just that one cleaning missed some things. It was so bad we slept in our clothes on top of the blankets and made sure our feet didn't touch the floor. We didn't shower because the bathroom was so dirty.

The bathtub leaked hot water all night, the toilet leaked as well when ever you flushed it. There was only one towel for 2 of us. They originally put us in a room with 2 dogs next to us. We were only there a few minutes and they were barking constantly, no one in the room to even attempt to shut them up. We asked to be moved and lost our already paid for king bed.

This used to be my go to hotel when visiting family. Breakfast was almost non-existent with only waffles, bread, and orange juice. There was cereal but no milk. No plates except tiny ones that the waffles did not fit on. Coffee was gone and apple juice was empty. This was 8am on a Saturday. The room was not very clean. We had double beds for 4 guests, but there were only 2 towles and 3 pillows so we had to ask for more.

*The hotel smells so bad of marijuana first of all. I almost felt like I was going to get a contact high.
*The pool area is in serious need of a scrubbing. If they had better ventilation it wouldn’t be this bad with the mold, mildew and rust. If you are needing the handicapped lift for the pool you might want to think again. It’s rusted and I wouldn’t trust it at all.
*The elevator has broken floor tile, and tape over some of the buttons like they broke.
*The room itself looks to be updated but they didn’t clean up the construction dust. The air conditioner unit is so full of white construction debris.
*We didn’t make it to breakfast as it was already cleaned up at 930am on a Sunday. I thought it was open till 10 on weekends. Oh well

Overall I would “splurge” on a different hotel in Hays instead of this one in Ellis.
For $89 a night it’s not worth it to have the awful smell of marijuana in the hotel and stuck in the bedding and towels.

Parking area was fine. The guest laundry has a single washer and dryer. Cheap. Two and a quarter to wash and dry a load. Facility was clean and comfortable. Breakfast features waffles, yogurt, sugared cereal, oatmeal, boiled egg, bagels, etc. No sausage and eggs in a warming tray. All was fine but for the constantly blaring television.

It was convenient for me to get this hotel. Just be aware, you get what you pay for. Got the hotel for a discount of 80$, but when I arrived in the room, I checked the restroom and the toilet was dirty. Elevator buttons broken. Thin walls( could hear the next person snoring). And didn’t feel safe there. I had to keep watch out the window for my car. No security. It’s nice for the convenience but in Kansas, one night is all you need. Again, you get what you pay for

We arrived late at night, since we just needed a place to get some solid sleep on our road trip. The guy that checked us is was friendly. But then it quickly started to go downhill. Firstly, there was a bright light on the wall that lit up the entire room, even when all the lights were out. (It's the thermostat) Then the refrigerator was making loud noises on and off all night. At 9:AM there was the knock on the door and a lady entered, waking us both up. I had gotten maybe 4 hours sleep by then. Then again, as we were actually waking up, another knock and enter by the housekeeper. Mind you, the do not disturb sign is on the door.

Someone tried to enter my room at 9:15am in the morning. Thankfully I had the main lock on so it stopped them from opening the door all the way. No one knocked, and it shouldn’t have been housekeeping since nothing was said before hand and check out is stated as 11am.
Not safe for solo travelers / women traveling alone.
I want my money back…. Its terrifying that someone was able to just enter my room like that

The carpet on the second floor adjacent to the elevator was absolutely filthy! The toilet has water stains. It looks disgusting! The caulking is missing around the shower valve! I have a picture to prove it. There are several damaged tiles on the floor in front of the elevator on the second floor, which is where my room was! My room was in the worst possible part of the hotel facing a truck-stop! The entire area is surrounded by large 18 wheel trucks! They were teenager kids running around in the hotel because of graduation day from high school. These kids were very loud. I will never stay at any property that that Hotel operator owns. I will never book another hotel. Stay on Expedia ever again.!

Cost is always a criteria for me. Motels in Hays that were safe, inexpensive, (less than $100) and clean were over $200 this weekend because of graduations. I was forced to travel 22 miles to Ellis to find an affordable room. The only drawback, the shower didn't drain. Other than that, it was convenient to the interstate and fast food. I will stay again, I think I will no longer stay in Hays. Hays has become too crowded and busy.

When I checked into my room at 7:30 pm on what had been an 80° day, my room's air conditioner had not been on & the thermostat read 86°. It was HOT in there. I immediately called down to request another room, but none were available. He said it would only take 15 mins to cool down. No apology. It took 2 hours until I wasn't sweating. Also, there were ugly stains in the toilet. He said it was from the cleaner. Again no apology. The sheets were bleached so much, they felt rough. The breakfast was toast, yogurt, or you could make a funnel cake thing. No tea, fruit, or protein. I used to stop at this hotel twice a year 9 - 13 years ago and it was wonderful. Never again.

It’s truly astonishing that this place hasn’t been shut down. The filth is profound. The bed was stained; the floors are covered in dust, crumbs, and dead bugs; the outside of the toilet bowl was drenched in urine, as seen with a black light; and there are razor-sharp metal sheets in and around the elevator, which a child could very easily slice their finger on. The absolute worst thing is the shower/bathtub, which had massive amounts of thick, visible black scum. With a tissue, it was able to start coming off, so it’s definitely not a stain. I can’t even imagine how long you’d have to go without cleaning the tub for it to get that abysmal. The lobby and elevator were such a uniquely awful, intense smell that I thought I would vomit passing through them. The pillows smell as well. I see the issue of cleanliness has come up in other reviews, and the owner likes to respond with “it’s a budget hotel,” but being a budget hotel is not an invitation to break health code. If they want to save money, perhaps they shouldn’t be leaving the AC at 45 degrees, which mine was set to upon arrival. Other concerns include that it seems there’s never anyone at the check-in desk. There’s a sign pointing to a phone that it says to use to call for someone, but the phone appeared to be disconnected upon arrival. And the dryer in the second floor laundry room sounds like a rusty old swing that you can hear all the way down the hall, making it impossible to sleep at night.
