Went to celebrate my birthday and what a week. The room was very clean and spacious,the staff was amazing, always greeting us with a smile. Thank you for making my birthday special by gifting me a birthday cake/song at breakfast, you made my day. The breakfast was delicious with a variety of food and lots of options but the fruit station was by far my favourite.
Will definitely recommend and return to this hotel

I absolutely loved everything about this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised with a birthday celebration at breakfast. This place is amazing. I will definitely stay here again. The ocean view from the patio was a great touch each morning and the sounds of waves to help me sleep at night. A great experience highly recommended.

It is a drive from the airport and over the mountain which can be inconvenient if you don't have a car. My room was a mountain view (still stunning) and parking lot, but the balcony door would not seal, and let out the air conditioning. And the air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool. Over very satisfied, good staff, good food.

The room was clean, the breakfast buffet was great, and the hotel’s beachfront location couldn’t have been better. The staff even came around with cooling towels to give to guests on the beach. The only small downside was some renovation noise near the lobby and pool, but overall I was very happy with my stay. I also had dinner on the property; although the staff were quite busy and meals came out at different times, they stayed attentive and checked in regularly to make sure everything was okay. This is a story about a hotel or management GREED get a hotel located beautifully….but terrible place to stay. If you plan to come here and relax….you are wrong. The hotel management let people who don’t stay at the hotel come to pool restaurant and use the pool all day. The only thing they have to do is to buy a pizza and have a lot of noisy kids destroy your relaxing day at the pool. 2 adults person with 7/8 kids each were entire day in the pool and extremely loud. It became literally like kindergarten…They needed only to buy few pizzas and drinks to use the pool. It didn’t matter for the hotel management that we paid very high price for our stay… but we were forced to leave the pool area because of all loud noise. I saw multiple hotel guests who were staying at the hotel leaving the pool area. This is how greed for extra income makes a hotel look terrible !!!

The staff were very friendly and even upgraded our room for free, which we really appreciated. The room was clean, the breakfast buffet was great, and the hotel is right by the beach. They also kept our luggage after checkout, which was very convenient. The only downside was some renovation noise in the lobby area, but overall we were very satisfied with our stay.

Good Service Amidst Renovation Challenges

We recently stayed at the hotel and had a mixed experience due to some unforeseen circumstances, but we still appreciated the efforts of the hotel staff to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

When we arrived, we had booked an oceanfront room with two twin beds through Expedia. Unfortunately, the hotel was undergoing renovations, and none of the oceanfront twin rooms were available. In fact, there were no twin rooms available at all. As a result, we were given a partial ocean view room with one bed, and a movable bed was added to the already tight space, which made the room feel quite cramped.

That said, the staff at the hotel were genuinely attentive and did their best to resolve the situation. Chamara, the hotel manager, offered us complimentary breakfast for most of our stay as a gesture of goodwill. Additionally, Sakura, who was at the front desk, was particularly helpful and understanding. She listened to our concerns and helped coordinate our room move. On the last day of our trip, we were finally moved to an oceanfront room, albeit a single bedroom, which was a great way to end our stay.

While our room situation was less than ideal, the service provided by the staff made a significant difference, and we are grateful for their efforts. If you are planning to stay here during the renovation period, just be aware that room availability may not be as expected.

Great Value but Not Luxurious

Coral Strand is one of the only hotels that truly is on the beach. The hotel in general needs updating badly but the amenities served their purpose fine. We asked for well-blended piña coladas, but the staff did not understand how tourists prefer their drinks. Mahek restaurant is the best for lamb curry. Find other food elsewhere.

On September 19, 2024. Air Seychelles cancelled/changed our flight from Mauritius to Seychelles due to depart on September 23, 2024, to depart on September 25,2024. As a result, we were unable to travel to Seychelles and immediately contacted Expedia to cancel our paid resonations with Coral Strand for September 23-25, 2024, advising of the situation with Air Seychelles however, Coral Strand refuse to refund our payment stating that the reservations should have been cancelled by September 18,2024.I strongly suggest not to pay in advance if you are attempting to use this hotel that management cannot use their discretion when their domestic/ local Airline cancel flights for days when the guest is no longer able to visit the island at no fault of theirs. So DISSAPOINTED. .

As a result we were waiting the entire afternoon in the lobby being told repeatedly “sorry we are having no room.” There seemed to be a hope but then again “sorry we have no room.” Extremely suffering. Finally they got us a room newly renovated with bathroom leaking.

Lovely location, easy walk along the beach and to local restaurants. Staff were very helpful and friendly, allowed us to access to business lounge when we arrived early and allowed late checkout and use of facilities while we waited for our departing flight. The hotel is in a perfect location right on the beach and just a few minutes walk from supermarkets and restaurants. The hotel has great facilities but is looking a little tired hence the refurbishment of one section of the hotel. There are building works going on 7 days per week but they operate after 9am and finish about 5pm. This didnt impact our stay as we were out during these times. The staff are amazing so helpful and friendly especially Kylie and 2 gentleman in Housekeeping. Really had a lovely time and would definitely return to this hotel

Things you should know from Hotels.com

Three things put the dampers on this hotel. Firstly, it would have been nice to know with the present conflicts that the hotel is Russian owned. There are all nationalities on holiday here and it didn't cause any conflict but it would have be good to have been given the knowledge prior to booking. Secondly, it would have been good to know that part of the hotel was being extensively refurbished creating noise throughout the day. This wasn't noticeable by the pool etc but could be heard in your room during the day, which isn't ideal if you like to retire from the midday sun. Not my idea of paradise. Thirdly, the hotel is very dated. It may have been a 3 start plus 15-20 years ago but the place is very dated, particularly the bedrooms.
On the plus side the staff are excellent. I was traveling solo and it's really great when they take the time to say hello and ask how you are etc. They are a credit to the hotel and island. The rooms and hotel are cleaned regularly to a good standard. Breakfast is a bit random self service where every nationality is being attempted to cater for but not quite achieving it. I heard from guests on half board basis that the evening meals were a lot better standard. The restaurant is a great location onto the front so you can see and hear the waves as they lap up less than 3 meters away. Why spoil that in a morning by playing recorded piano music i don't know. For me, it doesn't make the hotel restaurant sophisticated but like an elevator to escape

We had the best holiday. The hotel is right on the beach and also has a pool. We stayed on an half board basis so had to buy water which was expensive. Food is great each night was a different theme in the buffet. You also have the option to eat in the sushi and Indian restaurants on site.

It was the second stay since 2014. The staff was always gentle and kind too much. Explain all things about the hotel and environments of Seychelles. The wedding ceremony was held on it Saturday. The parking lot was too crowded, but the staff of the parking place helped me kindly. The room has some smells like burnt Indian scent sticks. But Location, Price, and Kindness could cover that smell. The breakfast in the Buffet restaurant was good. I strongly recommend this hotel. I will use it again when I revisit it.

Proximity to beach and nearby restaurants is a plus. Hotel has to provide reserved room type. I reserved sea view room but was initially offered a room without it. Had to refuse the offered room to be assigned a sea view room. It is no fun when you have to wait over an hour until the room is ready. That is very frustrating especially after long hours of flight.

I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews, but the reality was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is from the 1970s, I didn't expect that everything is new. It is not, but it seems to be continuously repaired and updated. Our ocean-view room was spacious, recently painted with a well-working A/C, new furniture, a fridge, and a new model of LG TV. The beds were comfortable. Room service as well as all the staff was excellent. The location can't be beaten - we have traveled around the island and couldn't find a better one. The breakfast and dinner were very good. The hotel (similar to some other real estate in Seychelles) is owned by Russians and the clientele is partly Russian, too.

After check out they let us use hotel facilities like the pool and parking lot and they let us use the shower and changing room before going to the airport.

The Coral Strand is ideally located on Beau Vallon Beach and is probably the best located hotel on the island. It is however very dated and needs a major investment in order to update the rooms and facilities. This however is reflected in the price and represents excellent value for money relative to other hotels on the island. The staff were very good as was the food both at breakfast and in the evening. Located nearby was a range of street food sellers offering wonderful food at cheap prices. Worth staying at especially if on a tight budget.

Is advertised as a 4 star but really is 2 star with no customer service. All other hotels gave us a welcome drink this one didn't. Hotel was built in 70s and decor in room was still the same. I asked several times for a late check out and was happy to pay for it. They wouldn't give an answer until last morning which was no.Then argued that check out time was 10 am rather than 11am that I booked. Eventually agreed to give us till 12. Is lots of choice at breakfast.

The only thing positive about this hotel was the location on the most beautiful beach. Check in was scheduled at 2pm but at 3pm at least 5 other rooms plus mine were still not ready until asking for the manager then suddenly it was ready. If you want a chair on the beach, you best put a towel on it to claim it for the day before 8am as there aren’t nearly enough. The hotel restaurant requires payment for each order with no option to charge to your room which is not explained at check in and very odd. It seems that most guests here are smokers and they literally smoke everywhere…the beach, restaurant, pool, lobby, rooms, you name it! The room walls are so thin the smoke even comes into the room. Lastly, the shower was so tiny you could barely turn around in it while the door was closed. This is really a shame considering the absolute amazing location and staff!

The hotel is in definite need of updating. The general cost of Seychelles is very expensive; however, the value for this facility was not there. The location is really the only benefit, but if I knew beaches were truly public I would've stayed a little farther away.
Initially we received a room that had a very strong odour of mold. The staff were good to show us another room, but it had a similar smell so we had to go to a third room. The staff try to keep the facilities clean, but it really needs to be renovated.

Very nicely situated on Beau Vallon. Property is a little dated but very clean and well maintained. I was very disappointed to see that there are several large tortoises caged in a cement enclosure on the property. This is very inhumane. The Aldabra Tortoise can live over 100 years. This is a shame that these beautiful creatures are being kept in such a small unnatural habitat. I would love to see the hotel transfer these tortoises to Curieuse Island where they can live in the wild.

Location of hotel on the beach was wonderful. Friendly staff and manager Austin's response to our feedback was prompt and showed great qservice recovery- thank you! Nonetheless, condition of hotel room (avoid rm 201 despite prime location to beach) left much to be desired. Chipped tiles, stained walls and shower stall and black grouting, scruffy and worn furniture. Certainly not the 4-star it is advertised to be.

We'd booked a Superior Room with an ocean view for 4 nights along with another couple with the same booking. Arriving late in the evening we went to our rooms and thought there had been a mistake but too late to complain. When we checked with staff in the morning it was found that the rooms we had been sold were in fact a Classic Room with an Ocean View. The photos on the site are of the penthouse specifically beside the description of Superior Room, Ocean View. We were not happy as they could not accommodate these rooms. Deceptive advertising.They offered to move us to the Savoy next door for an additional 50 Euro a night. Best decision ever! Both hotels are in a great location yet the Savoy is far superior. The Coral Strand is a basic 70's style hotel on a good beach. There is no privacy on the balconies and the bathroom is old. The Savoy is set back a little from the beach but 2 minutes from our room. It felt like going from a 3 star hotel to a plush 5 star!

We were married at the Coral Strand 30 years ago. It was a beautiful hotel with fantastic service and we were very well looked after so we always vowed to return. We did return and were very disappointed. The first room we were given stank of cats pee, the shower squirted more water on the ceiling than on me, sink taps weren't attached properly, the bathroom door was mouldy as were the curtains. We complained and were immediately moved to another room which was a big improvement. We met two other couples there that had exactly the same problems (cat pee smell etc) and had to be moved. Some staff couldn't be nicer and yet some others were quite sullen. The food was average, the main lift only worked sometimes and when we checked out nobody offered to help with our baggage and, guess what, the lift wasn't working so we had to carry them on our own down three floors. Overall we thought the hotel was looking very tired. The location is fantastic!

We stayed at coral strand for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay! You cannot beat the proximaty to the beach and the views from the buffet restaurant. We did the half board (free breakfast and dinner) and enjoyed our meals but thought it may get redundant if we stayed at the hotel for several more nights.

Outside bar has great service and food. There are giant tortoises on site by the parking lot!

Rooms were slightly dated and stuffy which is understandable given the heat and humidity.

The staff was excellent and were very helpful when scheduling excursions. We recommend doing a guided hike or the giant tortoise/snorkeling excursion! Please know that you are responsible for being in the lobby and getting in the right car/bus for your excursion (we missed our bus and had to take a cab to our excursion point).

Definitely schedule round trip car service beforehand to make your life easily and remember that water is not included in the half board!

Overall would recommend!

The real benefit of this hotel is the location. Immediate access to the beach and easy reach of some good restaurants. However, this is really a three star hotel at best. The reason for this is simply the building itself; a 1970's build that now requires significant expenditure. The staff are excellent but they are struggling to compensate for the infrastructure. The equation is not that simple - renovate and lose beach frontage, or continue as is and lose visitors.

From my Seychelles experience, this is the worst hotel there is. Do not book there in December. The staff cannot handle the amount of people they accomodate. It took us about an hour to be cjecked into a room. They have loud music functions that go on until the early morning hours, and they dont inform you when you book or check in. The rooms are old and some of them smell really bad. Moreover, you do not get value for your money here, its a terrible place.

Coral Strand Hotel had its own beach access in addition to an outdoor pool, allowing guest relax and have fun at the popular Beau Vallon beach on Mahe Island. The facilities were functional, clean and the location is generally safe for a holiday. The hotel staff (Aisha, Stella, Ivan, Yogi, Helan, Chamara, Sheryl) were very courteous and always willing to help ensure visitors get a fantastic time in Seychelles. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

Nice low cost hotel on the beach. Checking in took a long time and there was confusion about trying to charge drinks and meals to the room. The breakfast buffet was nice, but I would not recommend the sushi restaurant. No problems with the food, but it was only so so.

Great location and staff: real value for money

Location is perfect. Hotel is decent and clean, almost all rooms have sea view. And it is the only one right on the beach. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful - unheard of. Restaurants nearby all serve quality food, enough variety for your stay.

Nice hotel within a good budget price. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff. Had an issue with a party next door and loud music but that was not the hotel's fault and they tried to negotiate the noise issue. Ended by 10.30 pm. Overall, a good hotel on a nice beach.

Concrete jungle throwback from 80s

The hotel us on the beach with sea view rooms and mountain view rooms. The sea view rooms are in a horseshoe format. The hotel reminds me of hotels in the 80a. All close balcony and ugly. The rooms have after and the full hotel needs a refresh. Definitely not my idea of a beach hotel in the seychelles. We paid for a sea view room and got a room side on to the sea therefore to see the ocean we would have to lean out the balcony and crook our neck. After 3 trips to reception our room was changed to a sea view room. I would definitely not return to this hotel.

Nice hotel. The only one in the area right on the beach. Good pool. Room overlooked pool and ocean. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Nice breakfast in restaurant overlooking beach and ocean. Not much to do in the area but there are restaurants nearby. Most seem to close around 10pm. Would recommend Gecko Bar at the Savoy (about 2 mins walk from the hotel). Nice food or just have a drink plus you get a 10% discount for being Coral Strand resident. Wednesday evening the \"strip\" livens up with music and food stalls otherwise very quiet. The Boathouse Bar is best for just having a drink and that's less than 10 min walk away. Overall very nice if you're ok with quiet life and beach holiday. Would recommend Teddy's Glass Bottom Boat trip to St Anne's Island for snorkelling island tour. Great boat crew and really nice lunch. One of our best days out. You can book at hotel or from one of the many vendors on the strip.

Lovely hotel with lovely people running it!

Nice hotel and lovely location. The beau vallon beach is one of the best I have been. The staff was super courteous and smiling. The front reception and desk staff were extremely kind and friendly esp. Mr Chamara and Ms. Stella. Great job.... keep it up!

Nice hotel but unfriendly staff

Nice hotel on Beau Vallon beach. There were a few issues with the room but to the staff’s credit they did resolve it quickly. However the staff was very unfriendly. When you are paying $300 a night I expect better service. At breakfast every morning we were grunted at and asked our room number without any greeting. Every guest is provided with a band to identify that they are staying at the resort, however in one day we got asked by 3 different people which room number we were in. Compared to this we stayed t the Royal mirage in Dubai which was similarly priced and got the best service.
