\"Mountain view\" means able to see the mountains from the porch, not directly from the window unfortunately. Still a great view.

This place is great for the price. If youre the type that needs a bed and a shower and thats it, stay here. Its clean enough, nothing fancy. Comfy bed, tv with lots of channels. The restaurant is good too! Chipotle chicken sandwich is delicious, would eat there even if i wasnt already staying.
Super convenient spot, no freeway noise either. Not many rooms so few parking spots.
Be aware of local wildlife!

Cute and peaceful. Our room faced the meadow and low mountain beyond so we heard the chirping of frogs all evening. The owners are clearly catching up on deferred maintenance but our room was in perfect shape. The staff were attentive and friendly. We will come back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Sierra Woods Lodge. The place was clean, peaceful, and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the location was perfect close to nature but still accessible. Highly recommend for families and couples looking for quiet getaway. Special mention to The Rustic Table Restaurant. They serve tasty food at reasonable price.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was nice and warm, so we had a very comfortable stay. The attached restaurant was also quite good and the food was delicious. The only downsides were that the smell of the cleaning products in the bathroom was quite strong and the ventilation fan was very loud, but overall we had a good experience.

Stayed here basically bc I was too tired to keep driving. I arrived late, rang the bell and quickly checked in. While the room is small, it was spotless, with a great shower! The bed was also very comfortable. The next morning, I had a fantastic breakfast at the on-site restaurant/coffee shop. The staff at the hotel and at breakfast were amazing. At the tail end of my breakfast, they had started their (impromptu?) local church service in the coffee bar area. I stayed and sang along a few hymns.

A convenient and affordable stop on the way to Tahoe. Quaint lodge in a lovely natural setting. The roooms are small a little dated; carpet could be cleaned or replaced. But the bed was comfortable and the shower huge with good water pressure. The breakfast (paid) at the restaurant was very good. Downside: the restaurant was airing a Christian missionary talk at high volume which did not make for a quiet meal. Note, this is hotel is a treatment center for recovering addicts, run by a faith-based organization out of Monterey County (which explains the missionary talk). A worthy cause and a place worth staying.

We stayed in the basement room (1 queen and bunkbed) which was perfect for our family of 4 with a dog. The room opens up to a big outdoor area, so it's extremely easy to to take the dog out. There was a small fridge and microwave so we had everything we needed for a night's stay. The only thing to know is that you have to go down two flights of stairs to access the room which may be an issue for some. Would definitely stay here again!

The lodge was overall okay. It was clean and had a great backyard space to relax in. There is also a restaurant barracked to the lodge which is convenient and a little postal office/convenience store. The bed was squeaky, the sound of the freeway was noticeable, and there was no AC (just fans) but good price/value.

Had a nice stay here over the weekend! The staff is very friendly and quickly accommodating to any needs. The lodge is tucked away in a quiet, but not too secluded spot, so it’s very easy to find, yet is in a safe area & away from any busy traffic. The highway is just up the road, but the road noise gets muffled a bit by the forest between - very nice! I’ll stay here again for sure if I’m in the area.

Expedia got 4/30/25 reservation wrong/ FAILED TO LIST MY TWO SMALL DOGS. Hotel staff were able to fix my need & put me in pet friendly room, thankfully since th e y had no vacancies yesterday! Pet area badly represented by add..down a very steep flight of stairs or by side of building down inclined slippery slope. Both dangerous at night for my 71 yr old self & my small dogs. Nice area when you finally reach area. Window by bed was open & i couldnt get it closed. Stuffed a pillow in it due to temp drop overnight. Couldnt find any way to turn on heat.

We've stayed here a few times and it's a cute lodge and convenient for our trip. Nothing special and low frills. The past 2 times we stayed, we were in a different room. This time the room was definitely older and needed repair. The ceiling fan had layers of dust on it and the paint and sheetrock was bubbled and needed painting badly.

This lodge is close to the freeway, so you hear the trucks. and it is noisy. Running a fan and white noise on my phone helped. No air conditioner. The restaurant was great. Good food and service. The coffee bar was also excellent. The bed was not as firm as I would have liked, but we slept well. The shower was large and better than most. Very friendly staff!

The office was closed early so we had to wait to check in for our reservation. It was an acceptable place to sleep. The room is tiny and cramped. The sink drain was clogged and there was no way to get help. That’s not acceptable because it was hard to use. The room was lacking some of the usual things that we normally expect like hair dryer, iron, coffee maker, refrigerator.
The attached restaurant closed earlier than the posted hour so we couldn’t get anything to eat.

The only thing I would suggest would be clear signage for the office for check-in but otherwise, it was a great place to stay for the price. It was clean, plenty of towels, and the staff was friendly. And my kids got to play in the snow right outside our room. Hope to return in the summer to enjoy the firepit and outdoor areas. The restaurant was also super convenient.

We enjoyed our stay. We traveled from SF with 2 small kids under 3 and had some time in the snow. It was a 15 min distance from soda spring Borreal which was amazing since the traveling from the city can be exhausting. The property looked decent with its attached Rustic Diner. The Rustic Turkey sandwich was really good my kids loved it. The front desk was very easy, friendly and small talk. The employees were attentive. We didn’t want to go to Reno or pay so much money for 1 night. This was a very lucky place we were able to stay. Auburn is 30 mins away which made it super convenient if needing anything.

As we left this morning we had forgotten our headphones and they called us to inform us we left them. They were able to mail it back but just the consideration of them calling us was very kind.

So if you want a place to stay for snow or just being in the area definitely a place I would recommend.

The building seemed a little old so there are some minor things that the property needs for updates in the room but wouldn’t give it any less.

Not perfect but worth it

Traveling with my family of 4 and arrived on a Tuesday @ 8:30p. Check in was pleasant but our room with 2 queen beds was not made. The guys at the front desk apologized and addressed it, while my boys played in the snow outside a bit, marveled at the boar’s head, and attempted to convince me to buy candy from the small store area next to the checkin counter. Room was made in ~25min and they offered a couple breakfast vouchers which was a nice gesture. The room smelled strong of air freshener, bed was comfortable, overall a quiet overnight stay.

At some point of the stay my husband made the observation “this place is run by dudes.” Turns out it is a Christian-based men’s rehabilitation program. We used our breakfast vouchers early next morning for to go items. Was it a perfect stay? No. Would we stay there again? Absolutely yes would support these men.

Perfectly nice for what it is

I needed a place to crash after a ski day. This is essentially a motel. It's not at all fancy but the beds are clean and comfortable, the small shower was hot and had good pressure and the attached restaurant makes a very good burger and milkshake (and breakfast). One warning - no liquor license. If you are looking for a quaint mountain retreat this is not the place. If you are looking for a comfortable base while skiing or exploring this places is solid.

We had room 10 with a \"mountain view\" - it was on the back, with less traffic noise, but the way the room was set up made it only convenient for one person. The queen bed was very close to the wall on one side - hard to get into on that side and what was worse, it had NO bedside table, not even a shelf for glasses or water, no light on that side, etc. Also none of the usual amenities - coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave - so a bit overpriced for what it offered. On the good side, it was very clean (although the odor of the cleaning products was a bit overwhelming and windows had to be left open) and the staff was friendly -

Best Get-away for a single woman (me) or a family

Sierra Woods Lodge is not just a lovely, forested place to dine and spend the night in a comfy, clean room, it is also a non-profit for a very, very good cause. I didn't know that when I booked my stay, but now I do know, I'll be even more inclined to come back.

The food at the \"Rustic Cafe\" was so, so good. The grounds were lovely, lots of places to sit and view nature. My room was scrupulously clean.

The staff was beyond helpful! They super accommodating when I made a mistake with my booking dates, helped us with late check in, and helped us print some documents we needed for our vacation. It was so easy to get to the hotel and the bed was incredible comfortable. There’s a cute little cafe attached to the hotel and the free coffee for hotel guests was a nice touch!

We stayed here for my husbands work trip and brought both our kids, this lodge has a beautiful backyard area and view, and this place is also attached to a restaurant serving homemade and delicious food. The bedding and pillows are so comfortable, and the shower was nice! Some of the smaller rooms don’t have a fridge and that was my only complaint. Above all the employees here are so kind and accommodating! As we were on my husbands work trip he needed his work clothes washed, although they don’t have a laundry service the gentleman there were willing to help me out so I didn’t have to take my kids with me and drive 40 minutes one way to a laundromat! Seriously a lifesaver.
I absolutely would rec this lodge for anyone passing through town and even for a week long trip as long as you don’t require your own kitchen.

It was very hot outside and the rooms aren’t air conditioned, but they called me in advance and offered me a full refund if I wanted to cancel. I didn’t cancel and they provided me with a second fan and I was comfortable. I would stay here again.

PRO: Smooth check-in, parking directly in front of room, restaurant is close to room, wifi actually works. The area behind the lodge has a nice view of the mountains. Food took a long time, but was delicious. Shower was nice and big. Bed had a nice, thick blanket.

CON: I was in room #1, which shares a wall with the kitchen. The restaurant closes at 9pm, but I got to listen to pots and pans banging and things being slammed against the wall until about 11pm. When the staff finally finished cleaning up the kitchen, I thought I’d have some peace. Unfortunately, they decided to stand around for another 90 minutes, talking loudly right outside my room. In addition, there is no AC in the room, no fridge, no microwave, no ice bucket (because there is no ice) and no vending machines in the premises. The room had this larger than necessary closet area that was totally empty and going to waste. It didn’t even have sockets to plug anything in. Looked like maybe they were in the process of upgrading things.

Coming from Kansas, it's a nice sight to be in the mountains. I also had a very long trailer of course. They were very kind about helping me out and parking it to not be too in their way. Staff in general was overall very nice and polite.

The showers are one of the most beautiful and genuinely relaxing things I have ever experienced. The last simple thing I ever thought I would receive peace from way over delivered. Especially after driving 12 hours. I had the rest of my 32 hour journey to go, but that one shower genuinely made my whole trip so much better. It was basically a massive floor of polished rocks and sheets of rock on the wall, but it was just so peaceful for once. I would love to put one in my house when I build one finally.

The beds were extremely nice and comfortable. While the rooms were small, it was very pleasant. The scenery out back was very very nice as well and refreshing. This lodge really earns the name of lodge. I wish every state had a similar lodge, but I guess it wouldn't be unique then. The food was also pretty good.

Highly recommended. I never felt so willing to write a review about a hotel or place to sleep for the night, if that tells you how amazing this place was.

If I ever end up back in California, I will absolutely be making a diversion to end back up at this lodge.

Hidden Gem Sierra Woods Hotel

The Sierra Woods hotel was a perfect little place for us to stop for a night so we could go snowboarding at Boreal the next day. The staff was friendly, a Christian-based group. The prices were really reasonable - at the hotel and restaurant. And the onsite restaurant was delicious with generously sized meals.
Even though we got there right at dusk, my two boys played in the snow and had a lot of fun before bed. The room was small but the beds were comfortable, and the heater was strong. There is a nice area in front of our room where we could leave our sleds and snow boots. I even got to prank the kids and freeze their underwear overnight… good times!
Ten out of ten for this hidden gem.

I would like to connect with the Manager of the property, my stay was great the staff In the lobby was professional and respectful, and everything was fine until this morning when I went to the restaurant the employee who was working that morning at 7:15 am, is disrespectful and rude and I will like to give you more details about my experience

Staffs are very friendly. It's really convenient to have restaurant/coffee shop in the same property. We enjoyed sledding and playing with the snow in the backyard.

Horrible noisy stay

Very basic room and not safe. Safety latch on door broken. Heater is very noisy and kept me up all night. Carpet mat at front door is damaged and corners so gets stuck under the door.

I woke up to ice in the toilet!. No coffee maker or microwave provided. There wasn't even a luggage rack for my suitcase!. Was told there was complimentary coffee in the office, but when I got tried to get a cup the office was locked even though the sign said open. Stay anywhere else!
