Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is, without question, the best hotel I have ever experienced in terms of natural beauty, setting, and design. The property blends seamlessly into its lush Balinese surroundings while offering refined, modern Western luxury. Every detail—from the architecture to the decor—feels intentional, serene, and deeply connected to nature.

The service is absolutely top-notch. The entire staff is a true joy to be around: warm, attentive, genuinely happy, and always willing to help. Each guest is assigned a personal butler, which elevates the experience even further. Our butler, Agung, was exceptional—thoughtful, proactive, and incredibly kind—making our stay effortless and memorable.

This was my second time staying at Mandapa, and it certainly will not be my last. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all my family and friends. You truly do not need to leave the property to have a perfect vacation.

Mandapa offers everything on-site: immersive nature experiences, a beautiful temple, rice fields, outstanding restaurants and bars, a world-class spa, a fully equipped gym, and endless opportunities to relax and reconnect. It is the kind of destination where the vacation is simply being there.

I can’t say enough good things about Mandapa. We have travelled all over the world and stayed in world class hotels, and this is amongst the best of them. The service, cuisine, accommodation, and setting were the true epitome of luxury. Our rice terrace villa was absolutely sublime. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to disconnect and experience the interior of Bali.

Wow!!! We are lost for words at how much we fell in love with this place from the view, rooms, pools, spa, food in each restaurant and mostly the staff. It was truly memorable for us and we've already decided we will come back next year with our family. Tapsir our private butler was beyond incredible and went above and beyond to look after our needs. My partner smashed his phone in the gym. Tapsir took it away, had it fixed and back within a day. Thank you so much and you have stolen our hearts for our rerun and Bali. This resort is a 7 star property and in my opinion a must stay property in Ubud. It's all about the service and how they make you feel. It all starts with a warm welcome with your butler , the manager , and rest of the welcome team.
Everything was perfect! Our patih, Louis, made sure of it. We had a wonderful full day excursion, where Gudse took us to many unique places you would never find yourself. After day 1, the team at Sawah Terrace knew my order before i placed it.
Warning: you will be spoilt! One of our favorite activities was the Connect to reconnect, Dinar and Pragynaan were so knowledgeable , when we did the BalineseHerbal Healing.
The only other properties I find comparable are the Royal Mansour and Udaivillas.

Mandapa is a beautiful property with the highest level of service. They also pay attention to the small details like providing extra complimentary items for those celebrating a special occasion and providing complimentary amenities above and beyond what I would expect. On top of that, Mandapa organizes a huge range activities for guests. They have a ton of relationships with local vendors so you’ll receive special attention around town as a Mandapa guest. Justine, Dina, and Gus De made our stay extra special. If you’re wondering whether the splurge is worth it, it is!

Gorgeous views over there Ayung river valley and tropical forests, you really feel at one with Mother Nature! Perfect for a romantic holiday!!

This is a wonderful hotel and a beautiful property. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was incredibly welcoming. Unfortunately, while we were there, we did experience some issues, which I would not expect from a 5 star (and expensive) resort, but the manager and staff went above and beyond to make up for it.

There was construction on the property that is right in your sightline if you are sitting anywhere at the main pool area. Also, during our short stay (2 nights), they lost power for about 2 hours during dinner time while we were eating on property at Kubu, and lost Wi-Fi and television access from about 6 pm until almost noon the next day. That being said our breakfast every morning was amazing, and dinner at Kubu was delicious. We did acupuncture at the spa, which was enjoyable as well. I guess at this price point, I was hoping for a flawless experience and we did not have that.

Heaven on earth.

I have been fortunate enough to stay at some wonderful hotels all over the world, but this place is really the most memorable I’ve visited.

Where to start is the problem! We had a one-bedroom suite which was spacious and very stylishly decorated, situated on the side of a hill with the most wonderful views over a river and terraced rice fields.

The food was delicious, creative and cbeautifully presented and comprising the very freshest ingredients, particularly in their fine dining restaurant, Kubu which is really spectacular.

The service was next to none. All the staff were beautifully trained, extremely friendly and willing and really seemed to want the guests to have the best experience possible.

They never missed a thing - for instance I was sitting outside at dinner one evening and felt slightly chilly and the next thing I knew, someone had placed a pashmina around my shoulders - without me saying a word! That really sums up the atmosphere of this stunningly beautiful place.

I can’t rate this hotel too highly and just hope I will be able to return one day.

There really is a heaven

My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at this hotel over New Year’s eve this year. We are both experienced luxury travelers and have been all over the world, usually opting for Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton properties. This was the fourth and final property we stayed at in Bali after visiting both Four Seasons hotels as well as the Katamama. This property was above and beyond anything we could have ever imagined. I am certain if we had come here first we would have never gone anywhere else. It’s hard to put into words how absolutely breathtaking the property is, or how accommodating and wonderful the staff is. If you’re looking for a true luxury experience like no other this is the place you’ll find it. I highly recommend taking their signature VW tour, it was an amazing experience. We simply can’t wait to visit again.

Sublime Luxury In Ubud

The Mendapa is a stunning property sitting in a valley on the Arung River. Standard rooms offer spectacular views of the entire landscaped property dotted by rice paddies and lush tropical plants and trees. Staff is excellent with service that’s meant to surprise and delight. Our butler Diane found guava for my husband, and the breakfast staff picked fresh jackfruit for us to try. We even had cold towels waiting for us in our room after a morning trek to the Nungnung Waterfalls. Food is organic and delicious. Spa is one of the best I’ve experienced anywhere with gorgeous facilities, good choice of options with a local twist (try the Padi Massage for 90 minutes), and a post treatment relaxation room that lets you contemplate nature as you listen to the river while sipping tea. Your personal butler can create itineraries based on your interests. I recommend the Vintage Tour in a traditional VW with a picnic at the end. Rooms themselves are extremely spacious, tastefully decorated with touches of Balinese style, equipped with every amenity including a Japanese toilet. Property is a fair distance from Ubud Center but easy to access by car. Do expect to pay the luxury hotel margins for any tour or service booked through the property.

No complaint at all for honeymooners!

Hotel is very new with great people and facilities. You will never get bored throughout your stay if you want to join their daily activities including village walking tour, yoga, cultural learning, etc. We feel the great nature in the hotel including rice field, river, etc!

People who work in the hotel are so nice and friendly so we feel like home.

The only cons was that at random we met with the unfriendly hotel Italian chef and the Indian F&B manager who were quite rude when talking with the guests in the restaurant.

Absolutely magical!!

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the General Manager and our Butler, to the breathtaking pool villa, the grounds, the pool, everything it was amazing!!! I can't say enough about this very special place except that I highly recommend it. We have stayed at a lot of four seasons over the years and was blown away by this experience at the Ritz Reserve. The rooms are new, clean, the bed is so comfortable and they don't put sheets on the comforter, they actually put a real duvet cover, which has always been my pet peeve about other hotels. The pool in the room is huge. The main pool is gorgeous, perfect temperature, never many people by the pool so always really quiet. There would be a fair amount of people at breakfast and then just my husband and I by the pool all day, it was so nice. The butler service is great and the barbeque dinner in the rice fields for just us was truly amazing and breathtaking!! Overall the food in the resort was great, sadly the only meal we didn't like was at their signature restaurant Kudu, food was just whatever. But, room service was so beautiful and tasty, I have never seen food so beautifully displayed in room service. The spa services were some of the best we have ever had in the world and the yoga classes by the river were amazing. Overall, we had not a complaint and highly recommend this place!!!

We've been fortunate to have stayed at dozens of luxury hotels and resorts, but nothing has been comparable to our experience at Mandapa. From the moment you arrive in the breathtaking open air lobby, you are personally greeted and treated like royalty. The riverside pool villa was luxuriously appointed, spacious and featured a spectacular view of the river and surrounding tropical jungle. Many thoughtful little details were included, such as providing sunscreen, insect repellent, sun hats, and sarongs for visiting the temples. Our personal butler, Beni, was extremely gracious and helpful throughout our stay. We didn't take advantage of any of the various free classes and tours, but we used the spa and fitness center which was very well equipped. We're both serious foodies and were very impressed with almost all our meals at the different restaurants. The only slight disappointment was the restaurant, Kubu, where we found the food to be somewhat mediocre, although the setting was spectacular. The hotel seemed to be somewhat crowded at the time, only based on the number of people we saw at breakfast, but when we were in our villa we felt like we were the only ones staying at the resort!
The Mandapa was by far the most incredible experience we have ever had in a hotel or resort and is absolutely worth every penny. We can't wait to return.

Stayed 3 nights with our 4-year old daughter and stayed at Villa 12 (overlooking rice paddy). Room is just perfect. A lot of attention to detail. Service was outstanding. We were brought in breakfast every day to the living room in the Villa. Our daughter loved her private pool and also used the children’s center one day (with activities and animals). We loved the outdoor shower in our villa. Also, the Spa was incredible. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you really want to relax, disconnect and be pampered.

What an amazing hotel and stay! I have stayed in many luxury hotels around the world including quite a few Ritz Carlton's, but have yet to come across such high standards and service as found in the Mandapa hotel.

We felt we were being constantly pampered by the staff, everyone was always greeting us wherever we went, and always taking care of us and making sure every request is being answered. I have never came across such a professional group of people.

Special thanks goes to our Butler Niti who made sure this vacation was nothing other than perfect, we really fell in love with her. A huge thank you goes out to Anush the manager for taking such good care of us and for giving us an offer to upgrade we just couldn't refuse...

TL:DR => If you are looking to just \"be\" and \"exist\", Mandapa is a place for you. It offers a luxurious isolated village-esque stay where time seems to slow down and all the worries that you had prior are paused as soon as the lei of yellow flowers are put around your neck.

Long Review:

There is no proper way to explain or where to begin this amazing end of the summer stay we had at this beautiful secluded masterpiece. We were greeted by the ever so gracious Ana and her equally as friendly colleague. We were just coming from a month of traveling all over Asia so this relaxing stay was the best way to end all the hectic traveling.

We opted for a Villa (which if you can afford I highly recommend) next to the river. Although we were fatigued, we decided to join the yoga session (which in my opinion was the best way to start our stay), followed by cocktails and a nice dinner in one of the pods in the riverside restaurant. I knew from there, this stay was going to be everything I needed before headed back into the city for all the hustle and bustle. All the caretakers of the reserve were quite friendly with us and made us feel so welcome.

Important:
We were going to explore Ubud and rent a moped, however the draw of staying in our magical villa was stronger. We only went out to get a kimono and try a duck dish as recommended by DENDI (I hope you see this Dendi <3).

All in all, my wife and I recommend this and hope to come back soon (villa 19 we love you)

From the moment we arrived at Mandapa, it was a magical experience – escaping the frenetic street down a quiet alleyway to the dramatic stone courtyard of Mandapa set the stage for a memorable stay. We were greeted by name by numerous staff and given a welcome drink to enjoy on the veranda overlooking the truly amazing grounds of Mandapa, cascading naturally down the canyon towards the Ayung River. After finishing our welcome drinks, our personal butler (thank you everything, Octa) transported us by “buggy” (an expanded electric golf cart) to our room. She provided more explanation and description of the property along the way, as the it is quite extensive and deserving of mention, and was also available to answer any questions or book any services for us at all times.

The property is divided into suites and villas. Our suite was the top, right-hand corner in the right-side building (looking towards the river). Speechless is the best way to describe our reaction: the dramatic room is oversized and laid out like a small home, complete with foyer, walk-in closet, expanded luxury bath with two person tub, living room, bedroom, soaring ceilings and top-of-the line amenities and gadgetry, all opening to expanded luxury bath with two person tub, living room, bedroom, soaring ceilings and top-of-the line amenities and gadgetry, all opening to a large private terrace overlooking the Mandapa grounds.

Closest thing to perfection we've ever experienced

Just book it. If you've made it this far to find out more about Mandapa all we can say is just book it. The reviews we read before staying at Mandapa were all glowing, but nothing compares to the mystical grandeur of the place until you are welcomed standing atop the Wantilan looking over the entire Reserve.

Mandapa truly have thought of everything. Every member of staff would greet us by name, they would remember our coffee and tea orders at breakfast, and someone always asked what help we needed that evening getting to dinner either outside of the Reserve or making reservations within Mandapa. The level of personalised service and quality of food and beverage options across the Reserve never ceased to surprise and delight us. We were looked after, fondly, all hours of the day.

And the location? This has to be the most beautiful resort we have ever stayed at. We have never felt compelled to leave reviews on travel sites until now. Thank you Ana, Bagus, Kelvin and everyone who looked after us during our stay. We will be back again.

An Oasis in Ubud

As a Director of Sales for another major hotel chain, I'm fairly well travelled and not often blown away like I was here. Ritz Carlton truly has something special at the Ritz Carlton Mandapa (1 of 3 Ritz Reserve properties). It's unlike anything I've ever experienced. Below is a full breakdown. But, the short and quick is stay here - you won't regret it.

Location - Located about a 10 minute drive from Ubud center. Very convenient

Property - The hotel is beautiful. It's built on a piece of land literally carved out of the jungle. The sense of arrival is lovely, featuring an open air lobby that has stunning views of the entire property. On the property are a total of 60 suites/villas, a beautiful spa, resort style infinity pool, 4 restaurants, and functioning rice paddies.

Rooms - The guest rooms are wonderful! Our suite featured beautiful views, a balcony, a very large soaking tub, walk-in closet, and essentially every amenity you could possibly wish for. I'm underselling the rooms, they are superb.

Staff - This was what made the stay so special to us. The staff's treatment of us was consistently VIP. We were greeted by name everywhere we went, without ever telling our names. Our butler, Dinna, is an exceptionally sweet person and went above and beyond. Anuj, Rafael, and Opa were also all wonderful! The staff is genuinely caring and will make you feel like royalty.

F&B - Have dinner in one of the cocoon's by the river. It was outstanding!
