The bar was wonderful - loved the jazz band that was there on Sunday! The staff are attentive and helpful. Parking is great. And the hotel style is a great mix of cool and charming. It’s a great location to walk to restaurants and shopping, and because of that it can be noisy in the evenings especially on weekends - but it does quiet down and is just part of being in the middle of everything. Not a deterrent at all, but just something to be aware of (the hotel provides ear plugs, which work great!). I’ve stayed here three times now while visiting my daughter who goes to college in Bellingham, and I’m looking forward to staying there again!

Beware of the \"historic room.\" It was not anything like the photo presented in the reservation page. Extremely old and in need of remodeling. It was a very small room, with an air condition box that actually blocked the way to the bed and very loud. The bathroom had yellow mold in the walls and ceiling. Poorly cleaned room. They should not offer this room to anybody. Check in was at 4:00 pm and they didn't have a room till 4:45 pm. Very deceiving the photo in the Expedia page.

This is a beautiful, well-maintained hotel with an incredible atmosphere and genuinely happy staff. I was in town for a meeting and presentation, and at the last minute, our original meeting space was canceled.

The team here stepped in without hesitation and made sure we had a place for our group of 12—no questions asked. That level of service and willingness to help truly stood out.

The rooms are clean, smell great, and the entire property has character, history, and a welcoming feel. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do, and it shows in every interaction.

Highly recommend—this is a place that truly cares about its guests.

Beautifully restored historic space within walking distance to all major downtown spot. We stayed for a weekend getaway and thought the location was perfect. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. The bartender at the hotel bar was extremely talented we have a great conversation for our night cap.

The only thing I had an issue with was the thermostat and it took us a bit to get the hang of it cuz we didn't realize it was a remote control with a HVAC unit mounted to the wall. I feel it would have been good if they prepped us for that. And a real coffee maker would have been nice in the room... But we still had a great time.

Helpful hint: if you arrive before check-in, you can grab a parking spot (get a card for your dashboard from reception) and explore the area on foot. There are amazing restaurants and shops close by. I was in town for a concert at the Mount Baker Theater (MBT), less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

We always enjoy staying at Hotel Leo when visiting Bellingham. The location is fantastic and centrally located near many of our favorite breweries and restaurants, which makes it easy to walk around and explore downtown. The bed was incredibly comfortable with great pillows, so we slept really well. We also love having Amendment 21 Bar downstairs — the drinks are great and the staff is always friendly. Overall it’s a great spot for a fun and relaxing stay in Bellingham.

Hotel Leo was exactly what I was looking for. By the way, this is voice text so excuse my poor literature skills.Lol. It was great. It was a great location. It was tastefully remodeled it was an old historic building. It had a really cool little restaurant bar with great cocktails great food. I actually had fresh made chocolate chip cookies and coffee when I checked in, which was a nice touch. I liked the little library and pool area even though I didn’t use the pool table, but it was still a really cool area. They have like this little social lounge which nobody was in, but it was still cool. The one thing that threw me off a tiny little bit was at the lobby area smelled like sunscreen. I don’t know how else to describe it except to reminding me of Hawaiian tropic sunscreen. Everything was great though definitely a great place to stay and it was pretty affordable and it was exactly what I was looking for. Oh yeah, the bed was super comfy and it was quiet. There was a train that went by a couple times, but it was not a big deal and it was really quiet and the room was great. There were a lot of homeless people around out front but I guess that’s downtown Bellingham for you. My truck was safe under the covered parking. Looks like limited spots, but I guess I got lucky. Oh yeah, on a whim I found a awesome little hot yoga studio around the corner. It has a hot water steamer, I brought my own French press so that worked out well. I hate instant coffee cheers hotel Leo!

Stayed just one night after a concert. Clean and comfortable room. The hotel is beautiful and I love the fact that so much history has been preserved. The location is excellent, beautiful view of the port from our room (Angeles in the mountain suites), easy walking distance to just about anywhere. Friendly and accommodating staff. The hotel bar and restaurant being open until midnight was a treat for a nightcap after our show. Mossy makes THE BEST whiskey sour I’ve ever had!!!

We only stayed for one night in one of the studio rooms. There are a number of multicultural restaurants on the same block so dining options are great. Nice big comfortable shower, but it has no \"grab bars\" -as shown on the web site. No complaints here, we would suggest either shading or reducing the light output rating of the bulbs in the nightstands. The \"vintage filament\" look is great in a magazine, but in use they were quite blinding. I'd stay here again

Very nice stay overall. Very clean room, bed rather low and softer mattress but it was quiet and we slept well. Reception staff exceptionally nice and helpful. Instant coffee in room was wonderful! Room was cold and took quite a while to heat up. Room needed some art on walls, extra blanket in closet and more counter space in bathroom (realize this is not an easy fix).

I was very disappointed in the value for money at Hotel Leo. Staff and public spaces are good, but room itself was horrible for $371. Old stuffy carpet, white walls with black painted wall heaters and an ultra soft platform bed straight from Ikea. Horrible use of money. The bathroom had a nice tile shower but discoloration in the grout in areas. Decor was bare and minimal. We ended up leaving and not staying the night. I will give it to Hotel Leo, they did give a small compensation which I was pleasantly surprised. With listening to the train periodically and listening to the homeless fighting, I did not care for the experience at all. I would not recommend staying here.

The room and hotel in general was fantastic. It’s absolutely beautiful. The photos do not do the rooms justice, it was extremely spacious (king sized bed, sofa bed w/ kitchen) and meticulously maintained. The hotel staff even sent me a text the day prior to ask if I would need anything or if they could make up the sofa bed for me. I have traveled pretty extensively for someone my age and I have never had that happen before- even from very expensive hotel chains. My overall word for this experience and place, would be charming. Absolutely loved our stay for a girls night out, and if we plan to do it again this will be my first choice to stay! Thank you!

Pretty, historic hotel. Clean. Comfy bed. The basement has a library, theatre, laundry, and shuffle board (all in separate rooms). Friendly staff. Warm cookies at the front desk.
On a Thursday night there was a book signing event and live music in the bar. The cocktails were great. Lots of restuarants and shops within walking distance. Relaxed, friendly vibe. We would stay here everytime. I wish more hotels were this great.

The staff are lovely and the room clean and tidy, and I love the retro feel and lower cost of the \"historical\" wing of accommodations.
Notes: It's 2026 and even every flophouse motel now has a charger brick with USB B & C for our precious phones - this is a must. The pointy edges of the bed's platform are a major bruising hazard. The naked lightbulbs in the bedside lamps are hard on the eyes - if you're going shadeless, use a kinder bulb. Otherwise everything's very nice even at this most \"budget\" level the Leo offers!

The bed was comfortable, but sat way too low for my wife and I, both in our sixties. The only way to heat the bathroom was the run the shower on hottest setting 15 mins before stepping into it. The heating unit did not distribute heat throughout the room. We had to be in close proximity to get the benefit.

It was noisy, from the train, people coming and going to the bars/restaurants nearby and the hotel hallway. We knew something was up when we saw that there were earplugs in the room.

The parking at this hotel is not great. Spots are not clearly marked for Hotel Leo guests and it made for a very stressful experience. The room was updated and modern however it smelled old and like smoke. The staff were great. Amenities were average. This markets like a luxury boutique hotel, but for the money I spent for the night it’s not. This wouldn’t be my first choice. I only stayed here because of an event that took place.
