Generally very good stay. Initially we were not totally impressed with the room allocated: the 'canal view' was more petrol station view and the bathroom was tired. Fortunately, another room was available with a better view and a much better bathroom.
Small issue with allergen advice at breakfast with staff needing a little more awareness and understanding of the severity of not giving the correct information the first time; all resolved in the end.

Quiet location in Oud-Zuid away from crowds. Appreciated being able to check in early. Smart room, I liked the colourful decor and well-equipped (but only one armchair in double room). Canal view recommended. Bathroom clean with good shower (over bath). Only problem was heating which was far too hot, couldn’t turn radiator off or temperature down, real issue at night and will probably stop me visiting again which is a shame.

Just spent a fabulous 3 night stay here and cant fault it, so clean ,room was spacious and lots of choices at breakfast. Never heard a thing at night ,so slept all night.a short walk to tram stop or metro. It was my birthday on Saturday, we never told the staff,but on returning to our room ,there was a large chocolate brownie,with happy birthday written on the plate, they must have noticed my dat of birth on my passport, a great gesture from the Appolo hotel highly recommended.

We were in town for one night on an unexpected layover. The staff were very helpful in giving us some pointers on where to go. The hotel was an easy walk to restaurants and not too far from the Rijksmuseum. Even had a nice view of the canals from our room too.

It’s a nice hotel with great walkability-close to lots of dining options and good shopping. Hotel bed is comfy and having a coffee maker and a bathtub is always welcome. Closet is a good size and the blackout drapes were very effective. There are a couple of tram stops nearby that you can use to get around the city. Uber is quite pricey in Amsterdam and a multi day public transportation pass is easy to pick up at Amsterdam Centraal. €21.50 for three days per person. The longer the stay the better the deal.

The location allows you to experience a neighborhood feel rather than the busier areas in the Center, while still being walkable to sites or metro. Loved the interior design in both the room and common spaces. Hardly ever eat at hotel restaurants but this one was so nice we did (and could see locals were also doing so - it was packed). Good and quiet but a little too dark.

The hotel was reasonably priced and in a quiet neighborhood which I liked. It is a bit of a walk from the center of the action, though. The rooms are a little bit tired looking, but the shower was nice and hot. The cafe and restaurant are very pretty. The service was really excellent. Nice soaking tubs too.

The place is quiet and good, the only down is that some of the parts in the room is starting to wear and tear. Other than that is perfect if you want a quiet hotel, that isnt in the central Amsterdam area. The plus is that Amsterdam Zuid station is very close to this hotel and its convenient to other cities in Netherlands, and also Brussels in Belgium

It’s right by one of the many canals in Amsterdam. The staff was amazing from check in to check out. The cafe as well as the restaurant had many options to choose from. The restaurant is higher end and a bit spendy but the food is great! It’s within walking distance to the train where you can get around town. I would definitely stay here again!

This is a beautiful hotel make no mistake about it. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is really great. The dinner menu is OK. What’s a little weird is I asked for a room with two beds and I basically got a room with two twin beds next to each other like right next to each other, they don’t have the concept of separate beds that are far apart in one room or even suites with a bed in one room and a bed and another maybe it’s a European thing? I’m also not a fan of the fake plants in the hallway in the lobby

Great location next to the Eiffel Tower and close to the Metro. We stayed five nights. Staff was very helpful in answering questions. We had a \"garden view\" and had to walk outside to see the tower. Carpet in room was old but the room was spacious and bathtub was deep albeit short. Overall, a good experience but very pricy - perhaps because we booked through a third party.

This hotel was a recommendation from a friend and on a 3 city tour between Paris, London, and Amsterdam, this was the worst hotel. I stayed with my mother in a room with double beds and it was canal facing, but the view was nothing special since I think we were on the 2nd floor. The paint was peeling in the bathroom and dropping onto things like the bath towels. Also the lighting in our room was very poor. It was one of those bathrooms where the shower blends into the toilet area and there is no separation - terrible design. It is apparently close to the artsy areas but not close to the center. The front desk staff always looked bothered when you approached. Would not recommend this property.

Very nice hotel. We were told our room was upgraded. We stayed on the first floor. It was a nice room, really clean and a nice bathroom and shower. The room was still quite small. Excellent service. We had food delivered one night which was allowed. We also used the concierge to store our bags before leaving. They offer a 5 euro voucher to use in 'The Living Room' café/restaurant, for every day you don't get your room serviced so you put a tag on your door for the day. You can't use this voucher on room service though, you have to be in the café/restaurant to use it. Its a 13 minute walk to the nearest tram into town. Good when it's dry, not so much when it's raining.

Apollo has been my favorite place in Amsterdam for the past 10 years or so. Recently, it has become very expensive, just like everything else, so I can't complain. When it comes to the price, it's always worth paying more to stay in a canal view room, but it's a bit of a lottery, as rooms with a very limited view of the canal are still considered canal view.

Another issue is the city tax, which is charged during check-in, but sometimes they also ask for it during check-out, so make sure to get a receipt if you pay the tax during check-in. Also, check your credit card statement to see if you've received the security deposit back. If not, you may need to make a call.

During my 5-night stay when it was very hot, the bedding was not changed, which is unusual for this hotel. The hotel doesn't have enough room service staff, so you might see one middle-aged lady responsible for cleaning an entire floor in just a few hours. Therefore, be kind to them and leave something nice or a tip in the room.

There are some low-quality fittings and fixtures, so be sure to report them when you check-in. If you don't feel safe, don't hesitate to change rooms. Enough with the negatives, let me tell you why I always go back to Apollo. The smell... this hotel smells amazing. As they say, love enters through the nose. We were thoroughly disappointed by the housekeeping. No clean sheets during our 5 nights stay, hardly any attempt to vacuum. No extra towels when we asked. My husband worked in the hotelroom for 2 days but he left when housekeeping came and asked for certain things and were then not left. The fact that we were in no way compensated by the hotel management was beyond comprehension. A 'sorry about that' at check out and 'we will discuss with housekeeping' was all. And we paid up to 300 euros per night.

The positives of the hotel however are plentiful. Great location. Amsterdam South is wonderfully quiet and has a great vibe. Breakfast was great as is the Harbour club restaurant. The rooms spacious, light (we had a view of the canal) and cool during the heat.

Too bad we got so disappointed by the service, otherwise we would have booked again in the future.

The Apollo Hotel was a beautiful hotel with fun décor. A few of the front desk clerks were great and very helpful, however, there were several that had bad attitudes and appeared to be annoyed by our requests. One such experience, we requested additional toilet paper when our room was not cleaned and he never had it sent up. When I went down to the front desk there was a female desk clerk and she was pleasant and took care of the matter immediately.
