Breakfast was more complete and generous than I expected. Surprisingly good selection of fruit for this hotel's location at the extreme northern tip of Norway.
(We stayed just one night here; after breakfast we embarked on a Huritgruten ship/ferry for the southbound Coastal Exprerss.)

The breakfast was one of the best hotel buffets we have ever encountered - lots of variety with everything fresh and delicious.
There was an odd discrepancy in the dates of our booking, but fortunately I had printed out the original confirmation e-mail, so it was eventually straightened out.
The room was very nice. We basically liked everything about this hotel.

Breakfast was amazing.Well stocked, all the variety you could imagine. Truly a huge Norwegian spread. Good self serve coffee options. Carpets in hallways could use replacing and there is the smell of mold in some places. Headboard was not firmly affixed and cracked and rattled with every subtle movement. Sauna and pool were lovely.

The hotel overall is a bit dated and that was fine. When we checked in, there were 2 rooms that are not ready yet. We appreciate the reception staff expediting the rooms for us.

However, for one of the room, it was not throughly cleaned as there were bits of paper on the floor. There were no towels provided for another room, which we have to request from reception.

Other than the small issues mentioned, the stay was pleasant.

The room was fine for one night, but our toilet didn’t flush and the bathroom was smelly as soon as we checked into the room.

The hotel was really busy, but the guy at the front desk was great and really friendly.

We were on the 5th floor so glad the lift worked, although it could take a while.

The pool and sauna were nice, but the steam room was out of order. We arrived on Sunday so not much was open.

Liked the hotel. We ate at the hotel restaurant. My wife ordered the prawns and pasta dish. The prawns were tiny shrimp, not prawns and were overcooked and rubbery. We informed the waiter and he apologized and removed the dish from our bill. We had just eaten prawns on a Hurtigruten cruise. Quite a difference. The Smash burger and fries however were awesome. Suggest you change the name of this pasta dish to Shrimp and Pasta as using prawns is misleading

We arrived in the morning, so were not expecting our room to be ready as advertised. However we were offered an immediate room for an extra payment of 200 NOK. If a room was available why couldn''t we have it then?
The gentlemen on reception were efficient without being particularly friendly. The lady who dealt with the bar and restaurant was lovely

We took 2 bikes to tour the town and one had no brakes fortunately we did not injure ourselves and had to walk instead!!

Generally staff were attentive and friendly. Restaurant staff were super friendly and efficient the gentleman from Hungary and young girl from Ukraine.

Rooms were clean and comfortable.Wifi worked well. Car parking was free and convenient. All in all an excellent hotel.

Perfect place to stay before catching our cruise. The front desk man was very nice and helpful. The hotel is in the city center and is close to several restaurants and a small grocery store. There is a restaurant that had a wonderful breakfast. The room had blackout curtains which helped darken the room during the midnight sun. The room was a little warm but we opened the window. You can walk to the ferry port, but a taxi is much easier.

It was a rare hot day and 5th floor room was too hot to sleep for a long rime. The window opened but no way to get the cool air in. A simple small fan added to the room to place by the window would have made all the difference. I realize no need for A/C here.

This hotel was a clean, warm choice for our one-night stop. Our flight arrived at 8.30pm, so the 9pm restaurant closing time was a little tight (and other dining options were limited), but thankfully the helpful staff were able to squeeze in a meal for us at the last-minute.

Great place to stay in Kirkenes. We arrived in the morning from the port so dropped our luggage in their large and secure luggage room and set off exploring. Check in was easy, staff were friendly. Fantastic room, very large and spacious, so much so we had to check if we had been upgraded! Large bathroom as well, with heated floor which was fantastic in February. We made use of the pool and sauna as well, just have to get a key card from reception to access.

Comfortable and clean room. Pool n sauna but didn't use them.Delicious breakfast with lots of choices in a comfortable dining area. Bus to airport out side and if coming from cruise terminal costs 70nok . . Walkable distance but cumbersome with luggage.150 nok to airport.Check time as it runs a few times per day only. Hotel has a shuttle if u arrange with them for a fee. Chef was very helpful. Assisted with our luggage when we arrived!V. convenient location. N pick up for snow hotel excursions. A must!

Unhelpful hotel with dishonest staff

I will never come back to this hotel!! Firstly, we had to wait for about 20-25mins for someone to attend to us for check in. Next, the hotel staff wasn’t helpful when I called to check on lost and found as I accidentally left it in the room when I checked out. They simply said the next guest could have taken it as there’s nothing in lost and found sept. How could the next guest have taken it when the housekeeper will be the 1st to enter the room to have it cleaned!! Definitely not a safe hotel.

Last day in northern part of Norway before returning to Oslo. The hotel is located at the entrance of the town, 20 mn from the airport. Very convenient. Near to gas station , convenient to fill up the car before returning it at the airport. Free parking available in front of the hotel.
People were helpful.
A little noisy because of the town celebration. But this is once a year.

We arrived early but were told we could not get access to the room until 3pm. While this was their listed time, most hotels will let weary travellers into their booked room earlier if it has been prepared. Not Kirkenes Scandic! To the dot we and others had to congregate in the lobby and wait.

Quiet, clean room with good views over the small town. It snowed while we were here. We know next to nothing about snow ( it's rare in Australia!) but the staff described it as \"crunchy not slippery\", which was correct. We were grateful for their care of us as rather elderly travellers.
Ps, have the fish soup. Its name doesn't do it justice. It's delicious

I would rate this as a 3 star hotel. The rooms need to be remodeled and it could be cleaner. Great location for wandering around downtown. Walking distance to the WW2 bomb shelter. Easy walk down to the water where there are less lights and its easier to see the Northern Lights with less lights.

Stayed one night at the Scandinavian in Kirkenes while waiting to get on the Hurtigruten the next day. Hotel is fine for a place to stay, it was clean and provided for the basic essentials. Missing things like wash clothes and tissue in the bathroom. Rooms are incredibly warm and could not find a way to adjust the heat; had the window open all night and it was still warm. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, except for one women when checking in who wasn’t, but maybe she was having a bad day.
