Located in the scenic Kirishima region, Sakura Sakura Onsen is a traditional Japanese inn offering a tranquil retreat. Just one criticism. Our balcony wall was so high that we could not see the sea or pool when sitting on it. Other balconies were lower or the top part had a railing and you could see around that. We could have been sitting anywhere miles from the sea for all we could see.

Telephone and one wall socket were both without power on arrival. After we reported it both were fixed. The kitchen in the apartment was excellent with fridge freezer micro and washing machine. One of the best. Apart from maybe the bright orange counters. Like an \" easyJet\" kitchen. ;-)

Cons:There are no Elevators and quite a lot of stairs. Even to access the apartments on the main floor there are three small flights of stairs so quite difficult to carry luggage to the second and third floors, especially for the seniors.
There is a daily surcharge of 2 euros per person for a pool towel which can be costly for families and a daily surcharge of 5 euros per person for the indoor pool.

We have stayed here on numerous occasions, and each time we arrive we remember why. The rooms are well equipped, with a clear drive towards recycling and sustainability. The hotel staff could not be more friendly, and the hotel facilities are great, with indoor and outdoor pool amongst the main attractions. There is lots to in the surrounding area, with numerous great restaurants and bars on the doorstep. A fantastic place to stay.

Having srayed at the Sarah Sunset numerous times, this visit we were placed in a block of apartments outside of the main complex. Although a good size apartment the location wasnt great. The view out of our bedroom window was an area with broken furniture and sofas. Wasnt the best. Shame as the staff are good and the restaurant is great.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the apartment spacious and the kitchen well equipped. Our daughter really enjoyed the kids' club - which doesn't have activities every day though, so check the schedule before making plans if you want to use it. The only downside was the loud traffic right outside our otherwise really nice and big balcony (we were on the ground floor and often had to pause the conversation while cars passed by).

Highly recommend for family stay
Stayed with 2 young toddlers for a week and highly recommend. The 1-bed apartment was bigger than any other apartment we stayed in before, there was so much room for kids to play and run around. Bed and sofabed were very comfy. Aircon in entire apartment was handy. Two ceiling fans in bedroom and sitting area were ideal at night as we didnt even need to use aircon at night. Place was spotless. The kiddies pool was very big and plenty of beds around. There are 2 other bigger pools which we also used with the kids no problem. Pools had lifeguard too. Pool beds cant be reserved and not used or lifeguard will remove towels. Restaurant on site was fine for convenience but plenty of restaurants nearby anyway. Staff were all so friendly and very helpful. We loved the fact you have a whatsapp with reception so can just text anything you need and they were very prompt with providing. Location was perfecr for us, the marina was a nice 25min walk, bus stop across the road to fungerola/malaga etc, beach literally across the road too. We will definitely be returning.

I was left with watching the iPad at night which wasn’t ideal. Staff at reception were great and speedy when booking taxis. Check in was slow and could be improved.

It was an easy 1 block walk to the beach although we had to rent chairs at the beach as the hotel does not have its own beach area. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance. It was about a 15-20 minute drive to get to old town Malaga.

If you like self catering, you will love this. Every conceivable thing you need is to hand, even an oven...plus all the little touches. Loads of extras. Great rooms, super comfortable bed and filtered tap water you can drink. No more lugging huge bottles back from the store. The only complaint was building work ongoing for 1 whole day, creating a lot of noise and dust. We had to go and sit inside ( The website stated work ongoing this year) . Apartments are amazing . Very spacious , filtered water on tap , tv has English channels including Disney Channel. Full kitchen with washing machine , dishwasher microwave coffee maker etc. balcony has large table and chairs and private Sunbed’s . Location is perfect , right in middle of Benalmadena coast . Marina is a nice stroll away . They have 2 pools and an indoor pool . Sunbed’s can only be reserved for one hour so there was beds available at Al times of day and this was start of July when apartments was full . Couldn’t fault it . I have stayed in loads of different apartments but these are by far the best .

We only stayed one night on our way to the airport for our journey home as a family of four. Everything was perfect with regards to location and accommodation. Easy walk to the beach and lovely promenade; marina; restaurants and nearby park. Our two-bed accommodation (OEG) was of a very good standard, fully equipped (nothing additional required) and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds and lounge area. TV had four UK channels. Lovely large walk-in shower with great water pressure. Patio area was sunny and spacious, being just to the end of the pool area it felt private. The patio furniture is some of the best we have used when staying in comparable resorts in other locations - super comfortable mattresses on the sun loungers! Loved the sun awning which could be rolled in/out for sun/shade to enable sitting out in the sun without getting too hot or needing to sit inside the apartment to escape the intensity of the sun. Great little on-site supermarket. Our guest experience at check-in was outstanding. We arrived early and then asked for a late check-out due to our flight time home - Thank you all for your assistance and the accommodations you made to enable our request, please know we were very appreciative of your actions. WhatsApp messaging is a great idea also! The excellent, friendly and funny customer service experience on check-in will definitely impact our future decision on where to stay when we are next in this area. Memorable - Highly recommend.

We had a 3 night stay in a 2 bed apartment. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable for 4 adults. The drinking water filtered tap in the kitchen was great and saved the need for buying bottled water! The location is fantastic being only a short walk from the beach and a main road full of restaurants, bars and shops. Onsite we also enjoyed a bit of table tennis and mini golf as well jumoing in the two pools to cool off! Would definitely recommend this property to anyone!

Wanted some late sun and found it in Benalmadeana. Stayed at the Sahara Sunset. Great accommodation and very friendly staff from reception to cleaners. All very helpful. If I had to pick at something it would be main pool very squashed in and had to move with the sun and drinks at the bar higher than other local bars and hotels. All in all great place to say and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
