My boyfriend and I recently spent the weekend at the Heritage House Resort & Spa, and \"incredible\" doesn't even begin to cover it. If you are looking for a place where luxury meets the raw beauty of the Pacific, this is it. From the moment you arrive, the views are simply breathtaking. The resort is perched right on the cliffs, offering panoramic vistas of the ocean that feel like something out of a movie. Waking up to the sound of the waves and the sight of the rugged coastline was the highlight of the trip. What truly sets this property apart is the full-service experience. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure every detail is perfect. We felt completely taken care of from check-in to check-out—the service is polished, professional, and genuinely warm. The breakfast was exceptional and exactly what we needed to fuel up for a long day of adventures. It provided the perfect \"set-off\" for exploring the nearby hiking trails and coastal scenery. Whether you're celebrating a milestone birthday or just need to disappear into the Redwoods and sea mist for a few days, this is the spot. It is a true sanctuary. I cannot wait to come back!

Absolutely lovely! Our room was great very spacious and right outside plenty of grass area for our dog to run around. Has many Perfect spots to view the sunsets and access to private beach. We enjoyed our stay so much that we added another night. The staff were very friendly and super nice, they made our stay even better. Looking forward to returning again!

Absolutely lovely stay!! Hubby and I really enjoyed the stunning views, the beautiful rooms and the awesome breakfast. We also took a little adventure to the private beach access from the property. We already can’t wait to come back. Perfect getaway. What a gem.
Also the food an cocktails at the restaurant were delicious.

I love that the resort is a mixture of different cottages/buildings. I was assigned to a duplex with a partial ocean-view. The room was clean and tidy, inviting, and offered all the amenities one would expect from a hotel resort. The shampoo, conditioner, and lotion smelled wonderful! And the rain shower head was an experience in itself.

I was pleased that the pillows actually supported my head and neck. Along with the comfortable bed and winter temperature, I could have easily slept all morning.

This resort is a nature reserve on its own with a private beach access. The grounds are well-maintained and I thoroughly enjoyed walking all around the resort. The warm cookies upon check-in is a nice touch as well! Overall an excellent stay! Highly recommended and worth going back to again someday.

If you want the rudest, most unhelpful staff/ employees, this is the place for you. Especially lovely was the manager who threatened us with arrest after we complained about no heat in our room, which went down to 59 degrees.
Let’s not forget the $ 35 per night “resort fee” for parki, free cookies and yoga which only happens on Saturdays. Horrible experience

We stayed in a lovely private cabin in the woods. Two of the bedrooms were very nice, and the bunk room was very rustic with a strong odor. The staff was very attentive to the issues that came up during our stay, but unfortunately, they were unable to fix our WiFi. It wasn’t functional for much of our stay. We were disappointed with the dining options in and around the hotel, finding the dinner restaurant expensive and the food not as good as we were expecting. The breakfast room was lovely, and the view made up for the slightly disappointing breakfast food. Overall this was a lovely hotel in a beautiful location with friendly, attentive staff, but not a food destination, or a place to work with steady WiFi.

The location of this property is amazing. Our room had a deck that had an unobstructed ocean view. The room itself was cute but was in need of repair. I would expect for the price of the room that the interior should be at a higher level. The toilet seat was broken, the cabinets were very worn and rug and furnishings looked very used. Overall we did enjoy our stay though and will return.

Gorgeous property, but be aware that rooms vary quite a bit in appearance, and representative photos for a room type may look literally nothing like your room. We had a 2 bedroom deluxe room, which we picked as the photo showed a nice lounge area with couch and table that we wanted to socialize in with our friends, who were also staying at the hotel. Our unit indeed had 2 bedrooms but NO lounge area, which was really disappointing. Also be aware that there does not appear to be any backup generators- we lost power due to a storm, which means we lost WiFi and the ability to text and call (only Verizon has service in the area, so for many folks, you have no texting or calling ability when the power/wifi is down). We would definitely stay again as the location is gorgeous and staff is very nice, but we will be more cautious in choosing our room type and not travel during the winter to avoid storms.

Our third Christmas stay. The reason we came back was because the first two times was ideal. The location, the proximity to Mendocino, for walk around and diner was so very enjoyable. This year due to winter storms, within hours of check in, the resort lost electrical power. So no on site meals, hot water ran out after a day and no day hikes along the coast. Why were we disappointed, was not necessarily the loss of power, etc, it was that there was no effort to direct us to anywhere to dine or any real concern, about being literally in the dark. On top of that, the cost of nearly 2000 for three nights, was idiotic. Next year will stay home and donate the cash to somewhere it will do some good.

The Heritage House experience is unique and being there to take in the whole property really should be the goal.
The rooms are all great (been many times) and the staff super friendly and welcoming. The bedding is luxurious and the beds are “clouds!” Everything is well maintained and even the coffee is terrific!

First thing, the staff is absolutely wonderful. They made our Thanksgiving week an incredible holiday experience. Lovely folks from reception to the restaurant and cleaning staff. Our room was modern and very clean. The grounds and view are spectacular. We did not want to leave and neither did our beagle. We plan to come back in the spring.

We recently stayed at the Heritage House, and overall the property itself is beautiful — the grounds are stunning, the ocean views are incredible, and the location feels peaceful and relaxing.

That said, the room experience didn’t quite match the charm of the property. The room was fairly basic compared to the premium setting, and we were surprised to learn that cleanings aren’t automatic; you have to specifically request them. Not a big deal in theory, but it’s one more thing to remember on vacation.

We also ran into a couple of maintenance issues: the TV didn’t work, and neither did the in-room telephone. We ended up spending more time than we wanted troubleshooting things that should have just worked. Individually these are small inconveniences, but they added up and took away from the otherwise great environment.

Heritage House has a lot of potential and a truly beautiful setting — with a bit more attention to room functionality and guest convenience, it could easily be a five-star stay.

Great place, great rooms, great setting. I had one of the higher end rooms and was frustrated by penny pinching measures such as food not being available on location at least during reasonable hours, or ordering breakfast à la carte and paying for it xtra.

These seem to be reasonable expectations for a high end, largish resort, and even profitable if done right.

The staff is great and they are genuinely pet friendly, although the pet fee was not at least clearly delineated by Orbitz.

I actually regret changing hotels mid way through my stay.

The cabins have been well renovated with comfortable beds, stylish furnishings and a large walk-in shower. It’s hard to beat the views from their extensive seacliff property. We waked the property every day and descended the stairs to their small beach at low tide. Their breakfast is generous and tasty, though they could improve their dinner selection. At night we thoroughly enjoyed cocktails at the bar for jazz cello and guitar (fabulous!) and piano on the other night.

We stayed at the Heritage House last weekend. The property itself is in a beautiful location, but it could benefit from some updates and maintenance. From our room’s deck, the view of the ocean was partially impacted by visible septic tank manholes and a leach field, and one of the cottages on the property appeared boarded up. Inside the room, we noticed a couple of chips in the flooring, worn baseboards, and cabinets that showed signs of wear. None of these things ruined our stay, but they did make the space feel a little dated rather than truly luxurious.

The biggest disappointment was finding out upon arrival that the restaurant and bar were not serving alcohol because of an inactive liquor license. This wasn’t mentioned when we booked, and given the high nightly rate (over $600), it was frustrating to miss out on that part of the experience.

Overall, this isn’t a bad place to stay—the setting is lovely, and we still enjoyed our weekend. But guests should know that while you’ll pay luxury prices, the property and amenities don’t fully deliver a luxury product at this time.

Grounds are beautiful. Almost every room has a fairly open view of the ocean. There are plenty of chairs spread around the grounds for relaxing with a glass of wine. The rooms are tastefully done and have very comfortable beds and linens. The restaurant attached to the property has a somewhat limited menu but everything we got tested great. Hope to come back again someday!

We had a very bad stay the cottage was very poor quality, no telephone, no closets, had to put our clothes on the sofa. Bathroom was tiny and sink did not work, had to use the kitchen sink. I have taken a video and would like to post it. We were unprepared for such a bad facility. It was supposed to be the ultimate in luxury and it was just the opposite. It was a log cabin and we paid $800 a night for it. Please have someone call me as I’d like to get my money back.

The location is to die for! So beautiful, clinging to the cliffs. Our room had a wonderful ocean view. The included breakfast was delicious, fresh. The room was well stocked with coffee (reg and decaf) and creamer. Our room had a large spa tub, overlooking the ocean, a wonderful spa shower, heated floors, confortable bed. The room was clean, the linens plush, the soaps smelled so good, and the view was unblievable. The only reason I did not give it \"5\" for everything is the spa. We made arrangements, had a confirmation and a calendar invitation for services. When we showed up, my service had been \"cancelled\" and my husbands was never even on the books. It was disappointing. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it... just don't make arrangements for the spa online!

The Pacific coast is one of the most beautiful places in the world and The Heritage House allows you to experience all of it’s beauty. We not only enjoyed our walks around the property with our dog but enjoyed being so close to many hikes, be it on the beach or in the Redwoods.
Our room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were very good.

This is by far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. You cannot beat this view and it's dog friendly. Our dog Louie absolutely loved it. This is a gorgeous property, overlooking one of the most scenic spots along the Mendocino coast. The rooms are cozy and romantic, and our sunset room had the most incredible deck with a view over the ocean.
They went above and beyond in a busy holiday weekend, we had to split the stay over 2 different rooms since there was no availability of the same room for all days at time of booking; however once on the property they managed to let us stay in the same room without having to check out and back in in the new room.

One minor thing, they used to have a la carte breakfast, now they switched to a buffet which is overall ok, but for a place of this level I'd prefer a more elevated experience with made to order dishes.
Also the restaurant was sadly closed for lunch.

We had a beautiful, relaxing time at Heritage House Resort and Spa. Our space was beautiful, clean and so comfortable. We did not ask for an \"ocean view\", but could certainly see it from our side window and porch up on the hill. It is located on a beautiful hillside overlooking the ocean. The free breakfast was very substantial and a highlight each morning. State Parks are all around and we took advantage of that for some wonderful hikes. We stayed mid week so the property was very quiet and peaceful. Staff was always helpful and pleasant.

The property is in an unbeatable location. Even though we visited in the summertime (hello fog!), we really enjoyed the view. We also saw deer and a blue heron from our room (which really was a cabin). The staff were extremely friendly and gave great recommendations on food options in the area beyond just the hotel restaurant. Overall, a very clean, safe, and beautiful location. Highly recommend for the area for a quiet get-away!

This is our second time staying at the Heritage Resort and Spa. Loved it. It a great place to go if you want solitude, ocean views and air, and pleasant updated facilities. Its a really quiet place to get away from the city. The breakfast buffet which is complimentary really good, which a great variety of hot and continental dishes. We will come back again. Another nice touch, if your a chess or checker player is the large number of wood tables with a built in chess board. So you can drink wine and play chess by the ocean.

Give yourself this treat!

A peaceful getaway to enjoy the northern coast of California. I had never been, and this adventure exceeded my expectations. We enjoyed the peace of the beautiful property, complete with an incredible breakfast, wildflowers everywhere, hummingbirds, and a really serene beach on which to watch the fog roll in. We were so incredibly happy with this stay.
