We had a really nice stay at this hotel. The location was great, especially being close to the ski area which made everything very convenient. The room space was a little small, but it felt cozy and comfortable. The hotel had a warm and relaxing atmosphere, and overall we enjoyed our stay. Perfect for a simple and cozy getaway near the slopes.

A good place to stay. Great staff beautiful area friendly people. This was off season so no traffic practically no other tourists anywhere. Rooms had flannel sheets and lots of blankets to stay warm during a cold night unlike most motels. The heater was loud and there was no fridge or microwave in the rooms so if you go off season it’s hard to find a place to eat. Our host made breakfast available to us even though we were the only ones there. We really appreciated his extra care he gave us during our stay. If you rent a cabin or or just go during the prime season you will avoid that problem and enjoy your stay greatly.

Parking lot was huge and no one was in it this time of year; there were NO staff present at all - our room keys were in an envelope taped to the wall when we walked in the front. Also the bed frames need to be replaced. You could not move at ALL on the bed without horrible scraping and squeaking noise - we are talking just to SIT on the bed... Rooms were pleasant and view of the river was nice... even the restaurant was closed on a Tuesday so.... we saw NO ONE.

Got to front desk and check-in to Room 3. Got key card and went to our room but was still being occupied by somebody there. Went back to front desk and was told it wasn't ready and to come back later. We went back at 5pm and room 3 was still being occupied so we finally got assigned to room 11 on the 3rd floor with no river view. Both bed were spring board and squeaks every time you turns. Bathroom door hinge was broken so door wouldn't close and bathroom fan was extremely loud in room 11. Would not recommend or will come back again in the future.

My 2nd stay at the convenient inn. I still like the actual amenities (restaurants downstair) and room (spacious and surprisingly modern bathroom for the traditional mountain inn standard).

However, I had a very frustrating experience with the Strawberry Inn regarding a reservation made through Expedia. Despite having a confirmed, single-room booking on my app, the hotel claimed their system showed a duplicate/second reservation with a payment issue.
Instead of working with their partner (Expedia) to resolve what was clearly a synchronization or manual entry error, the hotel staff contacted me multiple times over two weeks, aggressively blaming me for the \"wrong reservation.\" I spent over an hour on the phone and messaging, caught between the hotel’s demands and Expedia’s confirmation that only one booking existed.
The staff member I spoke with was unprofessional, refused to take ownership of the technical glitch, and threatened to cancel my valid reservation unless I paid for the \"failed\" one. While the hotel eventually contacted Expedia to resolve the ghost reservation, the lack of accountability and the hostile tone made for a very stressful pre-trip experience. If you book here through a third party, be prepared to do the administrative legwork yourself if their systems don't align.

The location is convenient, especially if you’re heading to Dodge Ridge, and having a restaurant downstairs is a plus. However, everything else is pretty subpar.
The room feels very old. The shower definitely needs a new showerhead, and the bathtub is old and discolored. The heater is extremely loud, which made it hard to sleep at night. The bed was also not comfortable.
That said, if you’re just looking for a basic place to eat, sleep, and be close to the mountain, this place does the job. Just don’t expect much beyond that.

Upon arrival we were told that our reservation had been canceled (but no one cared to let us know ahead of time) because \"the credit card was declined\": this does not make sense given that (1) payment was supposed to be made at the hotel and (2) we booked the stay with Expedia. Even more suspicious, the attendant told us that we should book directly with the hotel instead of through Expedia. This was on December 31st and finding another accommodation on New Year's Eve was not possible. We strongly recommend against booking there. In fact, this inn should be removed from Expedia listings.

Being the only “Inn” at little town Strawberry it was a good experience. The lodge is definitely outdated. Room is sparse for the $240+ rate. Wall mount A/C is from the 70s and bed does squeak (as mentioned by other guests). No coffee mugs provided with coffee maker. Host is very hospitable and attended to our every needs. Dinner was delicious although our 1st preference of brisket wasn’t available. Dining room is lively.

We spend two back to back weekends at this lodge. Both stays, the gentleman who checks you in was pleasant and professional. The lady bar tender / waitress who works in the evening as well as the lady that works breakfast hours were both unprofessional and rude. You almost have to feel bad for them because they are over the top angry for no apparent reason and this happened both weekends in a row. I wasn't going to say anything negative because my family enjoyed our stay regardless but this happened two weekends in a row. Otherwise, great location, really spacious rooms, and a great place to stay.

Being an older facility, you can hear some noises from other guests as the walls are not concrete and it is an old property. Also, the beds are old and hard and could use some new ones to help with a good nights rest. Otherwise, a very good experience and we loved the staff.

This is a clean, easy, super convenient location to Camp Blue Lair that is totally fine for what it is. Staff is really nice. Restaurant bar is cool. Price a bit higher but much better than staying in less convenient Twain Harte. In ski season this must be a convenient charmer. I recommend!

On our second night, we woke up to a mouse in our room and it stayed for the night two nights. We were on high alert at all times and had to keep the light on at all times to keep the kids calm. That was the only unfortunate part that I was not prepared for.

OK stay, but unlikely to return

Easy access just off CA-108 highway, just a few minutes away from Dodge Ridge ski resort. Free parking right outside the entrance. Inside the front entrance, the check-in area is not well marked. Turn left, go through the restaurant and a small registration window is found just past the bar.

After check-in, the staff member led us out through the bar/restaurant downstairs through the key-access area to our spacious room. No fridge or microwave, and beds had older, somewhat noisy mattress springs. Should have brought my own pillow from home. Small TV was equipped with direct tv and many non-premium in addition to pay-per-view channels.

The main bedroom window overlooked a nice backyard. Unfortunately, a nearby porchlight was illuminated all night long, and it was not possible to block the light with the horizontal wood slat blinds. That and the in-wall heater/AC unit, which worked well to maintain a comfortable temperature, but which noisily cycled all night, made getting refreshing sleep somewhat more difficult.

Bathroom was average size and clean. Shower enclosure had been updated a few years ago and hot water was quickly available. The side-by-side body wash and shampoo dispensers, however, appeared to have been filled with the same ingredient.

The restaurant had tasty food, though from a restricted menu. Upon check-out Monday AM, there were no staff present. We saw a sign posted outside reading \"closed Mon-Thurs\" and the bar/check-in area was locked.

It was a beautiful location right on the river. We had amazing view of the river from our room. Was a little noisey at night due to resturant above the rooms. The price was also pretty expensive and they do not do canclelations with in 14 days which is weird because if you booked 4 days ago you cant cancle and have to pay full price if you can not make it. That needs to be fixed. Other than that beaitiful location and building.

The noisiest heater we have seen in our entire life. We had to choose between sleeping Vs being cold. I would recommend the owners to invest into a decent centralized HVAC system rather having those horrible individual heaters running the room.

Turns out some rooms have an \"attick ceiling\" which we were lucky to get, and my husband and I kept bumping our heads against it when reaching for nightstand.

Overall cleanliness was fine, but there was an incident with bedding, as once we opened the top sheet we found a wrinkled sheet with hair strings and an eylash. Of course I asked for linen to be changed and a nice lady was very apologetic and provided me with clean linen, apologizing and explaining that there must have been a mix up with a new cleaner that is still in training. Upon opening a night stand the next day... I found things too. So I hope it was a 1 time mix up and that future guests will not suffer. Life happens.

Parking was easy, bar and restaurant available and open late into the night. Food is not good at all. Deserts are decent. Staff are super friendly.

The experience was truly terrible.

The cook checked us in and scanned my ID into their system. When asked he said the scanned ID would remain in their system permanently. We are not even sure that permanent storage is legal given the privacy concerns it raises.

Also the bathroom was not clean. Behind the toilet and next to the sink was dirt and grime. Additionally, the toilet itself was loose so while using it one felt it moving forward which raised a concern of falling off.

The carpet in the associated restaurant was so dirty that it seemed clear it had not been vacuumed for weeks.

This all begs the question if facilities allowed to advertise on the hotels.com platform are reviewed and monitored at all.

Got there and no one around to check in but found envelope with my name and a key. Got to room and it was occupied. Second room didn’t have hot water. Directed to different room and using key to enter found 2 people asleep and buck naked on the bed. Finally got a room unoccupied and with hot water. Hence the poor ratings. A real comedy of errors! Not what it used to be

I wish I could give Strawberry Inn a better review because I've been coming here a very long time and love this place. It is a beautiful setting right by the river and super close to Dodge Ridge. It has a great vibe with quaint and generally comfortable hotel rooms, a great restaurant and bar that serves full breakfast with an excellent coffee bar, and a great dinner menu. We love having drinks and shooting pool after skiing before passing out after a long, wonderful day.

However, this visit was not the magical experience we are used to. The internet barely worked and never up in our rooms. The chef/owner was sick, so no dinner menu - only pizza. This was suitable for one night but definitely not two nights and there are VERY limited options in town. With no microwaves or options for prepping food ourselves, we were pretty much out of luck. The rooms seemed to have gone downhill with mold, lack of cleanliness in the bathroom, and an exceptionally loud heater that we ultimately turned off so we could sleep (but meant we froze at night). The nice lady working there was clearly overworked and had no help.

Where do I begin? Definitely not worth $250 a night. No amenities to speak of. No housekeeping and TV did not work. Granted, it’s a satellite system and the snow can interrupt service. I just wish I would’ve been told about the possibility of both. I was told they have no housekeeping, but can refresh the room like give new towels and take out the trash. We left to go skiing and was gone for about six hours. Room was not refreshed. Shower smelled of urine. Was told they were going to sell the property. I can see why. Several of the staff were rude. Definitely will not ever be going there again!

Property is old but clean and attractive. Mattresses are cheap and uncomfortable. TV didnt work and no one was available to even look at it. We requested maid service. Door sign was flipped from maid service request to Do Not Disturb and no maid service was done. Bar and restaurant staff also seemed to be responsible for hotel. The staff was pleasant, but they work long hours and there were not enough of them.

We stayed in this hotel in preparation for a hike in the Emigrant Wilderness. There are not a lot of choices and it is convenient to the trail head. While the lodge itself is adequate, we found the staff in most cases to be passive aggressive and indifferent to us as guests if not downright unfriendly. Most interactions made us feel like they were doing us a favor by interacting with us at all. For a hotel, the lack of interest in customer service was striking. They were also unwilling to store our bags while we were on the trail, A service we were we have found is almost universally available at hotels and areas where people go hiking. Cellular service is extremely limited, obviously not their fault, but the Wi-Fi service they offer is truly terrible.

The restaurant didnt have any of the food they advertised on the outside of the building. They were handing out the wrong food to the wrong customers. I had to wipe up water that I spilled in the room and afterward the towel I used was almost black. So Im not sure when the last time the floor was mopped. Otherwise its a nice place to stay, its a very pretty area.

In the first room we were given the door did sit flush with the frame and one swipe of a credit card opened it easily. In the second room the TV did not work, the internet, for which I paid $19, did not work, and there wasn’t a top sheet on the bed. The likelihood that this motel is washing bulky duvets after every guest visit is slim. I requested a refund. The person behind the front desk was completely nonplussed and made zero effort to address any of my concerns. The owner finally agreed to give me a refund after arguing about why every problem wasn’t really a problem and was in fact my problem. We will see if it comes through… bottom line is this woman should not be running a business. There is no understanding of customer service and despite the motel charging $200 a night, they act like they are doing you a favor by letting you sleep there. It’s basically a nightmare.

It was off when we came in and the window was open (chilly but we wouldn’t have minded if the unit was usable). We tried for about 5 minutes and then gave up. Fortunately there were extra blankets.

Reviews about the linen were spot on... Didn't get a towel til the second day and we got one even though there were two of us. The bed did not have a top sheet. The rooms are non-smoking, so i guess they figured a broken smoke/monoxide detector was ok. Definitely has a hard time sticking a 3star rating. If it were $100 a night there would be no complaints... We did not get what we paid for

Wont return here ever again. Staff were rude and abrupt. Multiple health code violations were witnessed. Fraudulent property damage charges at checkout related to \"internet Box Damage\" and yet theres no internet box in the room. Extremely disappointed for the price we paid. Go camping or get an Air B+B close by in twain Harte. Not worth it at all. Rooms didnt even have sheets, only a comforter. Staff did some kind of spraying/fumagation across the hall from us. No maid service. Staff weren't wearing masks and they should have been. Even the owner was rude and abrupt. Not sure how this motel even stays in business with its poor customer service. Extremely disappointing. Not worth it.

The Strawberry Inn is a nice rustic lodge. We had a room with a view of the river and could hear the water with the window open. The lodge has a restaurant and bar. We ate breakfast, with indoor or outdoor dining with a mountain and river view. The lodge is well kept, and the staff was friendly.
The only negative I can say, is that they used comforters on the bed, using a fitted sheet only. I didn't care for not having a top sheet for sanitary reasons.

You need to pay for the internet and the connection was not good. My son couldn't do homework.
The room was downstairs and was very noisy above my room. Was little leak in the toilet the floor get wet quick. TV channel not too many to watch. most you have to pay to order them.
