Honestly, the east wing was three stars max, rather than 4 as listed, even Holiday Inn would have been a better option. The property was quite outdated — furnishings, fixtures, and overall condition all showed significant wear.

One of the biggest issues was the temperature. The room was uncomfortably cold, and the air conditioning system did not provide heating at all. This made the stay quite unpleasant, especially at night. When I reached out to the staff for assistance, they were unfortunately unable to offer any effective solution.

The plus side is that the place is very conveniently located near a subway station. But I can think of a lot more downsides to go with that, like the terrible soundproofing and tight spacing of the room.

Given the condition of the facilities and the lack of proper climate control, I would not choose to stay here again, nor would I recommend the place to others unless being really out of options.

Hotel under renovation with a very helpful team

The hotel is currently under renovation. Most of the facilities has been modified due to the following. As a result the hotel is missing the gym, restaurant etc...
My initial room suffered from bad AC and poor internet connectivity. After failure to fix the AC the hotel team decided to upgrade me to a better room. The new room was excellent. I've enjoyed the remaining 5 nights a lot.
Note- the hotel's breakfast is served in a temporary location in 5th floor. That breakfast is okay but not similar to the fabulous breakfast usually been served by that hotel. I hope the renovation will end before my next stay in that hotel.
OCT Town is really cool place with clean air, a lot of green area and dinning places. It is very convenient for running or walking.

I have stayed at the Seaview hotel many times since 2006. Back then it was quite a decent hotel and the service was good, but now it is very clearly showing its age and desperately in need of renovations. The staff are still helpful, although their English language skills have declined. The rooms are now very worn and the carpets are quite dirty.

This hotel does not provide transportation from Airport. As your standard verbiage states. They suggested taking a taxi which is 80-95 RMB. Since it is in China there is no way to confirm or contact hotel until you are in China without a China phone. which we were unable to acquire.
This picture doesn't do it justice. A better one would be the grand entrance with the circular driveway with water fountain and the grand staircase as you enter. Great location for tourist.

Hotel is good value for Shenzhen all the comforts you would expect for a very reasonable price. The only thing that lets the place down is breakfast finishes at 10am. I arrived at 10:01 and the staff cleared everything away like a precise military exercise, not a croissant to be seen by 10:05!

The area is very nice. The hotel condition is not the best especially the bathroom.

Fabulous location!!

The location is excellent, surrounded by greenery and big theme parks and big avenues, 4 mins from the metro. 10 min walk to a huge upmarket shopping centre which is opposite another big theme park - Windows of the World. Absolutely loved our stay, will be back!!

Convenient for metro travelers. Breakfast is good. But after few days it is boring. They don’t change the menus. Buy breakfast when you book it. It is much cheaper that way. Internet is not reliable. Often it does not connect. rooms are clean but small. Beds are harder compared to US hotels

Very close to OCT subway station, however, due to loud fireworks across the street, it was a bit noisy during evening time.
Didn't try any of the hotel's restaurants, although the breakfast was included with the stay, but there are plenty of dining options just behind the hotel.
Lobby was much better than expected, but the room itself was average. Nothing special.

We reserved a room for two with breakfast. When I checked in, I was told only one breakfast was paid for and the other would cost around $20! I of course was forced to pay and the breakfast was decent but not worth $20. I would recommend selecting one of the many other hotels in the immediate area.

Nice hotel in a quiet, convenient location

Lobby was nice and airy. Staff took us to the tower next door. The parking lot and building materials (?) lying around scared us a bit, but the tower turned out to be a nice, clean place as well, with a beautiful room carefully designed for comfort. Enjoyed the stay. There is a shopping plaza literally connected to it and food was abundant. The hotel was facing a metro exit 100 yards away so you really cannot ask for more.

Safe city, safe area. New and vibrant. Will definitely visit again.

Okay hotel in a convenient location

This hotel is located at a very convenient location, right next to subway stop.
The room (in east wing) was clean, yet furniture and carpet show some wear and stains, and could use some upgrade. The breakfast buffet was really good. However, the expedia website states "breakfast included in rate" before booking, yet for two person staying in the same room (king bed), only one breakfast was included. Hotel staff was rude when being inquired about this. The booking instruction should make it clear.

I stayed for three nights, the bed was a little too firm, the access to east wing is a little complicated. The tap water was good, not too much chlorine. The breakfast buffet was awesome, the best I have seen in 4-5 star hotels in China. Taxi drivers had some difficulty finding this hotel at night.

Very nice and relaxing hotel. No need to bring your computer as all of China blocks most western websites. Yes, they have free wi-fi, but what's the point when you can't connect to your sites. There is a work-a-round in that you could use a VPN service. BUT, you need to have all software downloaded and the service activated BEFORE you arrive to mainland China.

CHECK-IN:
Found the place with a little effort from the car service, and checked in perfectly fine at 2am. The desk person didn't speak English, but it's China - why should they? Room was located in a different building, which I had to walk outside, through a parking lot past what looked like a residence building, in the rain, to get to... << Big reason why NOT a 4 star hotel.

ROOM:
Again, located in a different building that I had to walk outside to get to. Also, the room was unusually small, cramped, with low quality furniture. I've stayed at plenty of places in different places in China, even on this trip, and this was the worst of the "4 star" hotels. It was comparable to a Marriott Courtyard. << More comparable with a 3 star hotel chain.

BREAKFAST:
The breakfast was fantastic. Kimchee, pickled radish, great omelette station, fruits, veggies, breads, oatmeal, etc. << 4 star breakfast buffet.

LOCATION:
The place is right next to the metro, closer to the airport. Take the Luobuo line to key parts of Shenzhen. You can take it all the way to Luohu to transfer to Hong Kong, too. There's also some happy park within walking distance, and other nice parks with paths. Other than that, the surroundings of the hotel are pretty blah. << Close to metro.

Nice hotel, convenient location

The hotel was clean and pleasant. Location was just across the street from China Folk Village, very near a subway stop (Green Line, OCT Overseas Chinese Town exit, then take Exit A from the station). Maybe 25-50 steps from exit to the hotel entrance. Walk to the China Folk Village by a pedestrian overpass or through the subway station, either about 5 min.Bed, shower, amenities were all comfortable and in good shape. WiFi confusing at first but then worked well. Many shops and restaurants nearby, from Seven-Eleven to some interesting looking Korean restaurants that we did not have time to try. Our room was "town view" not "sea view" but evidently some have that view. The Green Line runs from the Lo Wu crossing at one end (where you enter from HK) to the Shenzhen airport at the other end. Convenient!
Recommendation: take the FERRY from the HKG airport -- get on the ferry before HK customs (do not go through HK customs!), enter PRC customs at Shekou with virtually no waiting. The subway from Shekou (Shekou line) connects to green line. Have some RMB 5 notes in advance for the subway tickets. There was no currency exchange when we arrived rather late so I cannot say if there are any there at all. I had some left over from the last trip, or you can exchange at HKG. The most effortless entry through HK into PRC I have ever made. The ferry folks will even go collect your luggage.

This is a standard 4-star hotel with a relatively old housing structure. The location is perfect for tourists to Shenzhen. The major attractions are all located within a 2-mile radius around the hotel. Will definitely come back to stay next time in SZ.

Great location many places locally to eat and shop

This is a nice, clean hotel in a very convenient location. There are many parks, restaurants, a Wal Mart and the Window on the World mall/theme park within walking distance and the taxi ride from the Shekou ferry terminal (for access to Hong Kong airport or Central Hong Kong) is around 20-25 mins. The room rate included wireless internet as well as breakfast. The breakfast buffet is extensive with Western, Korean and Chinese options. My only complaint is that on the second night of my stay, I think the hotel did some work in a room above or beside the one I was staying in and I endured sounds of moving furniture, banging and what sounded like a carpet cleaning machine until around 5:30am. I've been to many hotels around China and this is by far the best place I have stayed in for the price.

Profound hospitality with not so good food

We stay there for two nights at the East Wing with cleaner facilities. The room is well equipped even with an independent room-wide router that you can connect to Internet with no rushing to other's traffic. Also even sometimes the router doesn't work, you can connect to neighbour rooms with same password pattern. All services are good, except the breakfast is not so decent the same problem like other middle level hotels in China.

This hotel is close to the airport and the city and has a Metro station 50 metres from the front door. It is also located next to the Chinese Cultural Village (walking distance) and one Metro stop to "Window to the World"

The bars and restaurants are good and the staff speak good English and are very helpful.

I had a king bed in a very large room here at this comfortable hotel which is situated in artsy OCT district. About a block from the Wal|Mart and across the street from the folk life village this is a good area to stroll tree lined street and visit small restaurants and cafes. The hotel breakfast is excellent. All in all a very nice hotel at reasonable prices. Stay here for sure.

The room was not clean. The air conditioning in the room was not working and it was uncomfortable to be in the room most daylight hours. The staff did not understand enough english to understand my A/C complaint. When I asked to move rooms, I was told that the rate would double. The fridge did not keep water cold, and the laundry ruined two of my shirts.

I had an extended stay at the hotel, 16 nights. The staff was amazingly helpful and always available. The hotel and grounds were constantly maintained. I would recommend this hotel to anyway with short or long stay plans.

The staff working there make this hotel outstanding; helpful, friendly and courteous.
Great location across the street from the O.C.T. subway station entrance. 5 minute walk to Splendid China, one subway stop from Window of the World.

I will be staying there again on my next trip.

For family and couples alike, great place to stay.

A really good experience. Nice rooms, good staff, good food. There are a large number of good restaurants just behind the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel offers western food as well and is reasonably priced. The hotel is right infront of the OCT train station so transportation is super easy. Walmart is a 5 minute walk. The hotel offers currency exchange at a good rate, arranges shuttle services for you.
