The hotel is an antique relic of yesteryear and with it comes a lot of charm and ambience that i personally enjoyed… so that made up for no elevator…having to lug my luggage up the stairs was an ordeal, the room had one bed tiny and lumpy but when you’re tired, who cares! The floor creaked …it was warm but they provided a fan and we cracked open the windows and were serenaded by rain all night (quite charming if you ask me). The hotel was close to the park so it was perfect we dined at their restaurant twice because it was that good… the wait staff was helpful in providing information about the park so whatever amenities the Belton Chalet lacked it made up for it in location and charm … i would stay there again. Oh and there was no TV but there was WiFi.

The Belton Chalet is an adorable, cabin-style hotel full of historic charm. Built in 1910, the building has maintained much of its original character, creating a warm and authentic atmosphere. We especially enjoyed our balcony, which was the perfect spot to relax with a nightcap while taking in the beautiful views.

The only downside was the creaky, noisy floors, which made it easy to hear people walking around. However, that seemed to come with the character of such a historic property. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and appreciated the unique ambiance of this charming hotel.

The hotel was quaint and had an historic charm. The \"continental breakfast\" advertised was a small plate of store bought muffins, apples, and watery coffee. It was better than nothing but not worth advertising as a true continental breakfast. The provided white noise machine was very helpful with drowning out the very frequent train noises throughout the night. It was very nice as an hotel for staying the night only but there isn't a very good daytime hangout location. I would stay there again for an appropriate price.

The front desk was amazing going above and beyond to answer questions about the area and make recommendations, especially Hailey. They set out pastries and coffee in the morning which was nice though they don’t replenish when they run out. The rooms were a bit old but in great condition and the shower had great water pressure. This was the perfect place to call home during our hiking trip. The train was surprisingly quiet but they provided ear plugs and a white noise machine.

- [x] This place is quaint, has some nice features, but is not equipped for the handicapped person. Initially we were placed on the second floor; no elevator; I walk with a cane so I was not happy with the arrangement. The desk clerk was quick to pick up on that and moved us to a room on the first floor. There was no TV, but I did not care about that. The sink for the bathroom was in the same room as the bed (again I didn’t care). The shower and toilet were in the same room ( barely enough room to turn around in). Nice Kerig type coffee maker, very very strong coffee! Nice ‘back woods ‘ type place. Not recommended for the handicapped person . Also, the place is across the street from active train tracks. There are ear plugs provided to mitigate the noise.

We stayed at the historic chalet for a couple of nights in early October. We had a wonderful room with balcony on the main floor. Room was very clean. The bed was great.

The view from our balcony was amazing. The trees were changing colors, and it was so wonderful to sit outdoors to enjoy the view.

We had read some reviews about the train noise, but we were not bothered at all. The room was well insulated.

Front desk employees were kind and helpful. Pastries and coffee in the morning were delicious.

Beautiful hotel! We would choose to stay at the Belton again!

Poorly trained, obviously uninterested in their job or their guests, clearly did not have an inkling of how to deal with guests at a unique hotel like this. motel six has better front desk staff- with some minor upgrades and major staff changes. This could be a truly great hotel.

Restaurant on site 100% one of my favorites. Kort was our waitress and she was amazing! Just remember this is not a new/renovated facility. Meant to be kept historical! Quite the unique experience!

The Belton Chalet is located just outside the west entrance to Glacier. The bed was comfortable. The staff were wonderful. The restaurant was excellent too. We loved the mushroom pappardelle with elk sausage and the bison meatloaf.

Make sure you understand that the rooms are very tiny and have limited room for suitcases or bags and no dresser or closet or way to unpack. Also wish there was coffee service earlier or better yet a fridge and way to make coffee in the game room downstairs. This makes it really tough to get an early start in the mountains...

First, the positives: classic, 115 year old hotel. Beautifully maintained, small but quaint rooms. No air conditioning, and it was August hot. The biggest problem is basically unsolvable, the railroad track and highway 2 is right next to the hotel. 10 freight trains at least went through there the first night, very noisy, and highway 2 is a main east west route. We tried to keep the window open for cool air but the noise made it impossible. We will not stay here again and would have passed if we had known about the issues.

It's one of the Classic Hotels in Glacier, a must do at least once in your life. We enjoyed our time at the Chalet, the fireplace and coffee and muffins were a nice treat in the chilly mornings. Make reservations for dinner, also excellent food and drink!

If you want to stay in a historic early 1900’s destination hotel this it. Lots of atmosphere. If you want modern amenities, look elsewhere. Small rooms with creaky floors, no TV, no AC.
Pleasant staff, clean and you couldn’t be closer to Glacier.

We really enjoyed the historic aspect of Belton chalet. It certainly reminded me of my grandparents home from the 1940s. The personal note was very special and certainly a keepsake. The guests are like-minded people who were mostly that we met traveling for hiking at GNP.

The complimentary coffee and pastries was wonderful. We had an enjoyable visit with other couples in the lobby.

The parking is not adequate. We had to park our car across the road on gravel. It was dangerous crossing the highway, dark, exceedingly inconvenient.

The staff was excellent! However, finding the check-in desk was very frustrating. We walked into the restaurant at the lower level. We walked into the lower level of the actual lodge building. And finally behind a bush, we saw a sign with an arrow that said check in. It was hard to see, and we spent probably eight minutes walking around, trying to find where the check-in desk was located.

There are many negative reviews. Which are subjective. This is a beautiful historic hotel that has maintained its charm. If you are only happy with modern box hotels this probably wont be for you.
We had a top floor back of the hotel room. Never heard floors creaking aside from our own and couldnt hear any trains. I slept like a baby.

An okay at The Belton Chalet

We stayed at the Historic Belton Chalet for 3 nights in order to explore West Glacier. Our room was smaller and a little more rustic than expected; although it is a historic lodge so we weren't surprised. Be aware that the trains don't just come in twice a day, or twice at night, they come through A LOT.
And they're loud. They do have ear plugs and noise machines in the rooms so just keep it in mind if you're a light sleeper. The free coffee in the morning is fairly weak, but they do offer one free small pastry each morning. We enjoyed sitting outside on the concrete picnic tables and benches in the evening to play cribbage. Belton is within walking distance to Freda's restaurant which we enjoyed breakfast and lunch at. All in all, our stay was comfortable, but more expensive than what we feel was offered.

Super convenient to Glacier National Park. The staff clerks were less than friendly (just doing their job, basically). There was a note on the bed that said enjoy this welcome box but there was no welcome box. I asked the girl when we were checking out, she said oh yeah, we were missing one item so we didn't put them out - then don't leave a card that says you did! Anyway, the room was comfortable, pretty small but we were just looking for a place to sleep. It wasn't the quietest place we stayed either but again, it is literally right outside the park entrance.

We appreciated being able to stay at a historic hotel. It was small, rustic and a step back in time. I spent time imagining travel to that area when it was first built. It reminded me of a smaller version of Wildwood Springs Lodge in Steelville, Missouri. We stayed for one night and were happy to be away from the crowds in West Glacier. You can hear the trains, but they didn’t bother me and my husband and the fresh mountain air (no ac) was soothing. Pack light as the rooms are small. Having a tasty restaurant on site was the icing on the cake. Make reservations! The salad with smoked trout was a work of art! The staff was lovely and it was a charming experience overall!

The Belton Chalet is a beautiful, old hotel. It has lots of character. There are many great sitting areas. Landscaping is great. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Rooms are pretty small and do not have TV's. Since it is an old building the rooms have character, but the floors and squeaky and the walls fairly thin. This makes them sort of noisy in the mornings as neighbors leave early for nearby Glacier. The train also rumbles through regularly pretty close by. The Chalet is a 5 minute drive to West Glacier and the park entrance. There aren't too many breakfast spots close by. Good coffee and pastries are provided each morning.

We very much liked our stay here. Travelers should know that this property is \"quaint.\" Our room was very small with little room to stow our luggage. With wooden floors, it's not perfectly quiet and people are not always mindful about their voices. There is also a train that comes by regularly, which is part of the property's history. No worries, they issue ear plugs! The train never bothered us. If you like quaintness and historical properties, this one is for you. If you prefer amenities and more of a hotel-like atmosphere, you might want to think twice. The staff is amazingly helpful. We would stay here again.

The restoration of the property was done very well. They also had a cute welcome gift and handwritten note. The beds were so comfy! The coffee and pastry in the morning was much appreciated.

Since my bedroom was on the back side of the property, the outside noise was quiet. Some hallway noise could be heard under the door from the other guests, but I guess that’s why you were provided with ear plugs.

This was probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in at this price point. The bed was more a hammock than a bed. The Restaurant is not attached to the hotel and don't serve breakfast. As a gift they give you ear plugs and let you know there is a \"white noise\" machine in the room due to the freight trains that feel they are outside your room all night.

No tea/coffee or any other amenities in room, apart from ear plugs!

The proximity to the West entrance to Glacier Park, about 1.5 miles is really only plus.

Overall very uncomfortable with little else to offer. Not up to present day standards.
