We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Boccaccio in Florence. The room was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The location was excellent for exploring the city, and overall we were very happy with our experience.

The only challenge was arriving by car. The hotel does not have on-site parking, and there is not really a designated area to temporarily stop and unload luggage. As a result, we had to park first and then walk our luggage through the streets of Florence to reach the hotel, which was not ideal after a long drive.

Other than that, everything was great, and we would definitely consider staying here again.

An extremely noisy location as the residents and tourists party until 4AM. Lots of construction and trash vehicles all night long. Very old hotel that hadn’t been updated. However, only a couple blocks from the Duomo and other sites so location was great- if you aren’t planning on getting much sleep.

Pretty sure this is a mom and pop shop so I'll be more generous and forgiving with my review. Overall the staff are amazing, the host who greeted me most days was charming and friendly, others are lovely too, save for one grumpy old man, but I think that's how old folks are. Rooms are clean. My room had a beautiful view. My main issues with the place are the thin walls, meh bed, flat pillow (which was kind of fixed when I asked for a second pillow) and shower temperature and pressure. Also you basically shower sitting on the toilet, which I was ok with. I couldn't get a good night's sleep and my back and neck hurts now. WiFi is a bit spotty on my phone, but fine on my laptop (I was able to stream movies)

Location wise - excellent, can get to most tourist attractions within 15-20 minute walk. I can appreciate the breakfast included (there were croissants, bread, cold cuts, coffee, juice, yoghurt) since couple mornings I'd get up pretty early to visit museum first slots. If you're not a fussy sleeper then I can recommend this place.

Overall place was good. The beds were very firm and the pillows were flat so was uncomfortable sleeping at night. Also the shower was right up against the doorway and you couldn’t adjust the height so was uncomfortable to shower as well. The breakfast was good with options form paninis to yogurts and fruit the breakfast was prob the best part but as far as room I wouldn’t recommend for longer stays.

The staff were great and the rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The hotel is dated but I don't mind, its got charm. The only concern I had is that there is no chain or bolt on the inside of the bedroom doors. This is concerning as a female solo traveller and makes it hard for me to sleep at night without worrying that someone may be given my room key by accident. I want to feel secure that I can lock my room from the inside with more than just a key.

The hotel is on the 4th floor of an old building. There're areas in the room show mold and stains. The bathroom has no separate area for shower so it's a bit inconvenient to keep things dry clothes. Staff are sincere and diligent though.

This is a great property if you are okay with an amazing location, barely away from the hustle, but close enough to walk to everything. It's basic with the smallest bathroom I've ever experienced. If I were larger than 5'10\", not sure it would've worked. The shower was inches away from the toilet (!). But again, great location. Cool balcony and solarium. Surprisingly good breakfast
And really good service. If you're wanting an amazing location and okay without a large fancy room, I can't recommend this enough

Needed to climb a flight of stairs to then access the elevator - difficult with heavy suitcases. Why say there is an elevator when you still have to climb stairs???
Air conditioner extremely loud. Bathroom door did not close properly.
Soundproofing very poor - could hear the neighbours on both sides and windows did not keep out loud noises from outside.

Hotel is basic, well-located & clean and yet quirky. Good for “only sleeping”which many travelers say they want. Baths are tiny! 4-5’ square. I’m leaving some instructions for those who visit after me. : There is an exterior button that no one tells you about to gain entrance to the building. About 6 stairs up for the elevator. Some steps DOWN 5/6 to get to your room. Elevator to the 4th floor is marked Hotel Boldoni. In & out marked “T” in elevator. Must leave your giant key whe going in and out to alert the housekeeping staff. Fresh towels daily. Front desk canneadily call taxi. (You csnnot gkag taxus in Florence.)

Breakfast is free but badic. Anericsn coffee unless you ask for cappucino. Fruit cocktsil, breads & cheeses& juice + yogurt.

Room reserved on Expedia was not available on the 1st of 3 nights. We had a room with one bed instead of two and the shower was in between the toilet and the sink so water was everywhere. The door frame was rotten. The next two days, we had the reserved room with a closed shower. The difference in the price for the room of the first night was never reimbursed.
Other than that, the staff was polite and it is walking distance of all the sites.
Breakfast was very good.

No working AC amid a heat wave!!!

Hotel was good, very well located, very clean, and spacious room. However, the air conditioning wasn't working and we were tricked into believing that it would be fixed, which completely ruined our stay. This was in the middle of a heat wave in Italy and staff seemed indifferent about our room not having a working AC (as advertised).

The hotel is within walking distance of the main attractions, which is very convenient. However, there are some homeless people near the entrance, which can create a sense of insecurity.

The room was clean, but the bathroom didn’t have a proper shower—just a wall-mounted faucet. There were no blackout curtains, and a streetlamp outside kept the room bright all night.

It rained during our stay, and water got into the room. Although we reported it, the staff didn’t believe us and only gave us a few rugs to manage the situation.

The room had no amenities other than the air conditioning, which was very much appreciated during the heatwave.

The breakfast staff was very friendly, though the breakfast itself could be significantly improved.

Disappointing Stay – Outdated, Uncomfortable, and Poor Service

Hotel Bodoni is well-located within walking distance of Florence’s main sights, but that’s about the only highlight.

Reaching the fourth-floor hotel is a hassle due to a tiny, slow elevator that barely fits two people with luggage. Inside, we encountered a pest issue—mosquitoes and flies were present in the room and hallways, with bottles of bug spray left out, raising concerns about cleanliness.

The room was dated and poorly maintained. The bathroom had no shower barrier, leading to a soaked floor, low water pressure, and one night with barely any hot water. The toilet also leaked, making it feel unsanitary.

Service was fine initially but turned dismissive when we raised concerns. The outdated key system added to the frustration, with unclear instructions and a bulky metal key.

While breakfast was decent and the location central, the poor facilities, bugs, and service made for an uncomfortable stay. Look elsewhere unless you’re on a very tight budget.

My sister and I had a great stay at the hotel Bodoni! The staff were lovely and the room is spacious - and the location can't be beat! The only areas for improvement are in the bathroom - there were no hooks or areas to set your stuff down, and the shower stall was a bit of a DIY situation. Overall a really nice place and I would stay there again!

The service was AMAZING. The men working the front desk were SO KIND. The people working the breakfast room were cheerful and pleasant (also very helpful). The breakfast was tasty, the location was great. The room itself was not. The bed was uncomfortable, the toilet wouldn't hardly flush, the shower was awkward, and it all was a tight fit, even by European standards. It was great on a budget, the staff made it so. But i probably wouldnt seek it out again.

Hotel Bodoni is a very quaint, charming, boutique hotel with a historical feel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. More than worth the value as long as you’re okay with a couple compromises. The hotel is on the 4th floor, with only a small and very slow freight elevator to get up. Or the stairs. Took the stairs more than we waited for the elevator lol. The A/C works, but is on the weak side. And the shower, toilet and sink in our room was an all in one situation. So no separator from the shower, no shower door. Basically you had to wait for the bathroom to dry up after using the shower in order to continue using the bathroom. Otherwise worth the value! Would still come back to Hotel Bodoni.

A very slow creaky lift to the top floor to check in then down to 1st floor room. We had to return the key every time we went out and sometimes the lift didn't arrive. Climbing the stairs in extreme heat wasn't good. Staff really friendly and helpful a good breakfast but really do you call that a shower in the room. Otherwise room was clean and comfortable and the blocked sink was mended straight away. After all thie the location was very good for all the main attractions

If you are looking for a quiet, clean place to stay this will do. It kind of reminds me of staying at my grandma’s place. It’s not decorated elaborately, almost like you went back to the 80s but it’s comforting. The staff are amazing & make up for any lack of amenities. The location was good, not far from the main attractions. Staff were very friendly.
However, the bad points outweigh the good. It's on the 4th floor of an apartment block with a very slow small lift.
Our room (21) was tiny and the bathroom was awful. It smelled horribly of drains (I did mention this at reception but it never improved). The shower was a wet room and you had to stand in front of the bidet to use it.
The light in the bathroom broke the night before we left, so I had to use my phone torch (it was too late to report it)
Breakfast was OK, pastries, cheese, ham, bread and yogurts.
There was a nice roof terrace though.
