We had wonderful 4 days in the honeymoon cottage at the end of our South Africa trip.
The cottages was perfectly equipped in a way we have never experienced before. Rainer, the very helpful and attentive host, thought about everything you might need during your stay. Despite a power-outage due to a cable theft in the community we still enjoyed the wood fire oven, the barbeque and the rain shower. We also want to mention the beautiful gardens and nice hiking trails, one leads to an impressive mine. The breakfast with homemade bread, buns and many other goodies was another highlight of our four week trip. Zur alten Mine was for us a ten out of ten and we recommend to stay there to everyone being in this breathtaking mountainous area.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Zur Alten Mine while exploring the Panorama Route, including God’s Window and the Blyde River Canyon. The location is incredibly central, making it easy to access numerous waterfalls and nearby attractions without long drives.

The accommodation was spotless and serviced daily, which made our stay feel comfortable and well looked after. A thoughtful touch was the provision of firewood, perfect for cosy evenings in front of the fireplace. We were also pleasantly surprised with a lovely Easter gift, which added a personal and memorable touch to our stay.

Overall, a fantastic base for exploring the area. We would definitely return!

Quaint and quiet property on the outskirts of Graskop. Host was lovely and gracious and welcoming, and provided us with helpful insights for seeing the surrounding area and a great recommendation for a bar/restaurant that was off the beaten track (the \"Chubby Pig\").
We had a whole \"cottage\" to ourselves which was more room than we needed but it had nice amenities like a full kitchen and sitting and eating areas. Bed was ok, and we did use the heated blankets! We only stayed one night but it was nice, and we would return. Breakfast was included but we opted to go for the \"famous\" pancakes at Harry's instead. Graskop was a short drive away and so a car would be essential. Overall nice rural property, not fancy but quite enjoyable.

Hidden gem

We had the cottage closest to the dam. It was absolutely perfect, with the most amazing sunrise view from our bed, which the owner told us about otherwise we would have slept through it.
Such a tranquil setting, wish we had more nights than our 2 nights, so we could have had more chill time at the property. Ideal base to explore attractions in surrounding area.

A basic rustic place to unwind

Cool rural place. Not fancy but comfortable. Rustic. We stayed in the cabin with a word burning stove. Basic amenities but clean. Lovely property set back off the road. Lots of monkeys running around.

Perfect Stop before Krueger National Park

Zur Alten Mine is a perfect stop from Johannesburg to Krüger. We had a cute little cottage and heating blankets in the bed for the cold winter nights. The owners, a German couple, gave us plenty of tips for sightseeing along Blyth Canyon and restaurants I’m Graskop. The breakfast was outstanding with homemade bread and jam, cold cuts, fruits and eggs to order. Plenty to eat and a great variety!! A safe stay for families and definitely a place to come back!!

Very nice place away from the city but close enough by car. Our host was very nice and gave us goods tips.
The cottage is nice but would benefit from renovation work. However, the fire place is a big plus. There were also electric blankets.
The breakfast was really good with a large part of homemade breads, muffins etc
Notice that you’ll have to pay extra for internet in your room

Wonderful Scenic B&B close to the Blyde Canyon

Amazing place. Seriously happy with our stay.

The owners are delightful the cabins are quaint and homely and comfortable with log fires and homemade biscuits/cookies in the room and blankets.

The bed was the only thing I'd give a 4/5 instead of 5/5 but it was still very comfy.

The breakfast is a continental style breakfast and delicious. I highly recommend it.

Overall, highly highly recommend.

Super cute little farm / B&B. We stayed in the \"honeymoon cabin\" which was very charming. Had a kitchen, large bedroom with a fireplace, porch with BBQ and large modern bathroom. Hosts were very helpful and breakfast was good. We would stay again for sure!

Halte très agréable après le parc Kruger, l’accueil est très chaleureux et les hôtes très serviables. Le domaine a même un sentier de « randonnée » très agréable entre plaine herbeuse et forêt indigène. Le petit déjeuner était top pour commencer une belle journée dans la région.

Que lugar maravilhoso! Logo na chegada fomos recepcionados por 3 cães carinhosos e amistosos. Logo em seguida, Lin (a proprietária) veio nos receber com um largo sorriso no rosto. Como é bom, depois de 5 horaa de estrada, chegar e ter toda a atenção. Feito o check-in, Lin nos mostrou o chalé que ficaríamos e nos deu todas as explicações necessárias para uma ótima estadia. E por falar no chalé, ele superou todas as expectativas, com ótimas camas, aquecimento dos ambientes, espaços amplos impecavelmente arrumados e ainda algumas amenidades deixadas para nós (café, chá e biscoitos maravilhosos feitos por ela). ZUR ALTEN MINE é um local difícil de despedir, mas a viagem tinha que continuar. Tudo foi perfeito, do início a fim. E, se um dia voltarmos a Graskop, com certeza essa será nossa opção. Obrigado Lin pela atenção e carinho.

Superbe chalet, cheminée avec bois et allume feu, barbecue, vue sur un petit étang. Petit déjeuner complet et frais. Excellent accueil. La ville de Gaskrop n'est qu'une étape en soit, point d'accès au blyde river canyon.

I won’t recommend it for rainy season

The wooden houses are located in an awesome environment, with a lake. The mountain road to arrive could be very dangerous on foggy days, and it was very scary at some points.

Our house was very cold (it is in the mountains and it was very rainy) and had no heating system but a fireplace. It could have been awesome to use it but the wood provided was too wet to burn, unfortunately.

The breakfast was very nice, with plenty of tasty homemade products. The nearest town has a cute restaurant, recommended by the owner of the accomodation.

Unsere 1. Übernachtung in Südafrika hatten wir diesmal bei Walli und Rainer kurz vor Graskop.
Die einzelnen Häuser stehen verteilt in wunderbarer Lage kurz vor dem Beginn der Panoramaroute. Gut ausgestattet mit allem, was man braucht. Super Badezimmer! Auch ein Ofen für kalte Abende ist vorhanden. Morgens gab es ein super Frühstück mit frisch gebackenem Stuten, Eiern, super Aufschnitt! Ein Traum für Deutsche in Südafrika!
Die Lage ist toll, weil man morgens schnell an den Aussichtspunkten der Panoramaroute ist.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour dans cet établissement. Le logement que nous occupions était très propre. Il comportait deux grandes chambres ainsi qu'une grande salle de séjour. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le petit-déjeuner qui était de très bonne qualité. Zur alten Mine est situé à l'extérieur de Graskop. L'environnement est très secure et beaucoup plus agréable que le centre ville. Les propriétaires étaient sympathiques. Nous recommandons cet établissement.

Very nice chalet, clean and very comfortable, with everything we needed in the kitchen and a nice chimney.
It was quite and the view from the hill was beautiful. The little walk to reach the top was very nice as well, we felt like in a magic forest along the stream.
The host was welcoming and friendly, giving us plan and advice.
We would definitely go back there!

Sehr schönes und interessante Unterkunft. Am Abend konnten wir uns ein gemütliches Feuer im Wohnzimmer der Hütte anzüden. Da die Unterkunft abgelegen vom Ort und etwas abseits der Straße liegt, ist es wunderbar ruhig. Wir würden hier wieder unterkommen, sollten wir wieder nach Graskop kommen. Das Personal hatte gute Tipps für uns was das Essen und Unternehmungen in der Gegend angeht.

Schöne Anlage

Rustikale Hütte mit eigenem Kamin war sehr schön. Jedoch war die Überdecke für kalte Tage schon sehr abgenutzt und es hingen einige Spinnweben an den Wänden.
War aber beides nicht weiter schlimm für uns! Wir würden wegen der schönen Anlage wieder buchen. Auch das Frühstück war toll.

Gästehaus in der Nähe von Graskop

Sehr gute Lage für die Panorama-Route. Die Gästehäuser sind etwas älter und könnten teilweise etwas modernisiert werden. Frühstück war sehr gut und ist zu empfehlen. Etwas teuer im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften in der Nähe.
