The property is great. It was my fourth time back, but the receptionist who is there during the day was not friendly or welcoming, and at times she had an attitude.

Amazing hotel, incredible staff everyone is very nice. Hotel doesnt have A/C but it temperatures drop at night. The only thing I would have liked to know is that they shutdown the water from like 11:00 pm - 6-7 am or so.

The staff at Budamar is outstanding. Claudia, the front desk lady will go above and beyond to help however she can. The wait staff always kept drinks coming with a smile. We had the ocean facing room in the top floor and it was the best view on the beach. Fantastic!

I was excited to stay at Budamar and it didn't disappoint. I had the suite #2 right in front on the beach. Check in was fast and easy. I had dinner and the food was delicious as well. The staff was amazing specially Carlos who was super helpful. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the room smelled like fresh paint. I stayed 3 nights and the first 2 was not able to sleep in the room. Luckily the room had a bed outside. When i approached the staff they weren't at all concerned about the smell. They told me it was painted 3 weeks ago but it was obvious it had been a few days. I could tell the furniture was painted and still semi wet. What was upsetting was that the manager didn't show any concern. No one came to check the room or smell. I was not offered anything not even an apology for the inconvenience. Nevertheless I still had an amazing time and would certainly go back.

Excellent location, right on the beach. Pool is refreshing, sunrise and sunset is amaZing! The food and service is great! Front desk guy Andres and other staff members are super nice. Certain rooms facing pool can be loud and sometimes music starts early at 10am in case you are late sleepers. Day beds and cabanas are super nice. No need for shoes or clothes during the stay! Some guests dont care but some cover up while eating at the restaurant (classy!) overall recommend if you want to be on the beach & right by the main street. Great spot to holiday at!

The AC was a nice feature of my room. The hot water was unique to Zipolite. The room amenities were of excellent quality. Some of the towels were like drying off with sandpaper. It was a good location. The staff did not seem to be particularly happy to be at work. The free morning coffee and croissant were enjoyable. The restaurant was never busy and this concerned me so I didn't eat there. The wi-fi was horrible but the internet in this part of Mexico is notoriously bad. Other places along the beach had wi-fi so I don't know what the issue was at this hotel.

Beautiful beachfront property right in the middle of Zipolite beach. This boutique hotel has a great little swimming pool! There are also hanging beds and day beds on the sand all with spectacular views of the ocean.
Rooms were very spacious with good air conditioning but the ocean breeze and the sounds of the waves at night was even better.
On site restaurant but many other dining options on the Main Street which is steps away!
Staff were all very friendly and courteous.
This hotel has a very eco feel which we enjoyed.
Only thing we could find missing was no hooks for towels anywhere in the room.

We originally booked for one week and then extended our stay for an additional 4 days. The management and staff at Budamar are fantastic and Anna helped us out with many recommendations about Zipolite and Mexico. We spent our first week in room S2 which is at ground level and opens directly onto the beach. The final part of our stay we moved up to the third floor in room H7 which is like being in a little private treehouse overlooking the beach. The rooms and food are excellent. Budamar is not the cheapest place on the beach but the value is fantastic. Will definitely be coming back to stay here again.

Charming, little gem on Oaxaca's coast

Location simply could not be any better. Right between Zipolite's gorgeous beach and "El Adoquín" (pedestrian mall) 30 feet away, right in the middle of the bay. It has a restaurant on-site, serving delicious, well-priced food right on the beach. Friendly staff. The only "downside" is that WiFi is terrible... But unfortunately is not up to them. That's the way it is in the whole town. 100% recommended.

Loved it here! Great service - you can use their WhatsApp number as a real-time concierge - beautiful room and bed, and perfect location on the beach! The food at the restaurant takes a long time but that goes for everywhere in Zipolite I came to understand. Would definitely go back, and missing it already! Thanks Ana and Budamar team :)

A very warm welcome and early check in. Lovely room which was very clean. Beautiful appointed. No air conditioner but they provide fans. No curtains and some noise levels but overall good. Restaurant was fine. Service a little slow. There was nobody to checkout but after 20-30 minutes someone came. Overall it was good.

This is a unique property with excellent access to the beach. Our room was very small but clean. The property is different than any other place we’ve stayed. Natural wooden railings, lounging beds, and many unique features such as glass bottles embedded in the structure. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

I'm conflicted. I want to write this review because I want to praise the staff and beauty of the hotel, but I don't want to write this because I want this place to stay my little secret forever. With that being said, the photos don't do this place justice. If you are looking for a fast paced, adventure filled vacation, don't come here. If you are looking to chill out for a week, like literally do nothing, but lay on a beach bed, have food and drinks brought to you by wonderful and friendly servers, maybe buy some peanuts, tamales, cocos, jewelry, or purses from local vendors that walk by, don't mind nudity in various forms (equal mix of naked and clothed beach bodies), and love the constant sound of pounding surf, then this place is for you. I can't explain how much I love this place. There are some other nice hotels on the beach, but Buda Mar has just the right amount of laidback-ness I was looking for and it's right in the middle of Playa Zipolite so exploring the other properties and restaurants on the beach is easy. My partner and I will be returning every year. Many thanks for Ana, Nadia and the entire staff.

I liked the location directly on the beach and very close to downtown Zipolite.

I did not like NO A/C , and NO hot water, and the room I booked had a shared bathroom. I did not know that when I booked the room - otherwise I would have chosen another hotel or room in that hotel

I loved everything about this place, the aesthetics, the food, the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds, the location, the pool, etc., but the best thing about it was the friendly, attentive staff from Anna, the manager on down. I can't recommend it highly enough. I do wish the rooms were air-conditioned, but we were there during the hottest time of the year, so I can't really complain.

Posada Buena Vida, while by no means a luxury experience, was idyllic in its own way. You could tell there is a lot of attention to detail around the property. In fact, many passersby on the beach took note of this as well and stopped by for pictures, drinks, and food as they passed. Even though we traveled during the off season, Posada Buena Vida always appeared open and welcoming, unlike most other properties on the beach.

The staff was helpful throughout and very attentive to our needs. The food and drinks were always good and service was quick. The rooms were cleaned quickly and immaculately each day.

They do have a no outside food or drink policy, which was fine given that they could provide almost anything we needed during our stay and the quality was good. Also, they are located near many of the restaurants off the beach, so there are options outside the hotel nearby.

While their website included they have hot water, there was no hot water in the hotel, nor had there been for 5 days as informed by other hotel guests. We were only there for 2 days. When we told the clerk at check out time, she did not communicate any sense of urgency to address the issue.

Wonderful hotel on the beach

This hotel was in a perfect location and the staff was fantastic. All the food and drinks we had were very good. The room we were in had an excellent view and it was perfectly clean. It was a little small and hard to maneuver our suitcases but that didn’t really detract from enjoying the room. The only complaint we had is that there are no beach chairs for lying in the sun. The sand is too hot really for laying out on a towel so some beach chairs would make the experience perfect! The pool is lovely and refreshing!

After a view of good makeover at puerto Escondido- paved streets , junky hotels rebuilt, drug addicts left - I found where they all went!
Sure everybody is free to do what they wish but 60 yo men whose panniculius is lower than their junk seems a bit of trying too hard. Bongo music in person to accompany the piped in bongo music likewise . Place is in poor repair.
Wait staff too stoned to speak in Spanish or English . Sure I'm a child of the 60s but this region brings back all the bad stuff that
I fotgot.

A great spot to stay. Our room opened out onto the beach. Lots of comfortable seating right in front of our room. The staff are all friendly and make you feel welcome. Very chill and relaxing place. Only drawback was the construction going on near the pool area, but otherwise it was a very quiet place to sleep.

This little hotel has excellent location and wonderful views. It's right in the middle of Zipolite beach, so you can walk to the main street, Playa del Amor or El Alquimista easily. The room I stayed at (H4) was a sea view suite, really small but with a large terrace and decent bathroom. The bed was a king size that took most of the space in the room. It has a table and chair, fan and a small closet and that's it. Staff is very friendly, food is good and they serve coffee and a a chocolate croissant in the mornings to each guest for free.

Hotel was in a great spot.

Close to shops, in a great spot on the beach.

Room was ok, huge bathroom, bed was comfortable, mosquito net was in good condition.

Our room was in a location where we shared a thin wall with the bar and they start early in the morning preparing coffee so if you like to sleep in ask for a quieter room.

The staff was ok. Cleaning ladies were lovely and very good. Serving staff said we hadn’t paid for a few items and they were charged to our room (one was written into the room slip after we’d signed it) just beware. I guess they thought our payment plus tip, was all tip. Just charge it all to your room so there’s no confusion, is my suggestion.

Overall it was a good place to stay. For the $ in Zipolite would I stay again, likely not.

Customer service was amazing, the rooms were clean & the food was great.
The only down side was through out our whole stay the Wi-Fi was not working (towers were down)
Other than that this is a clean, safe location and I highly recommend it.

Leaves a bit to be desired...

Check-in here was not smooth at all. First was told I need to pay the entire amount when there had been a 50% deposit. Next the credit card machine would not work and was told I needed to pay the balance in cash (when it is clearly stated that they accept cards). I refused to pay in cash and they figured out a way to finally charge my credit card. So much hassle gets the stay off to a poor start.

The room was dingy and small. To the plus side, I was glad to have a small safe in the room. The mosquito netting had holes and would be completly ineffective during the we season when the bugs are out.

Parking was is a lot about 100 yards behind the hotel and is NOT at all secure. Fortunate for us nothing happened to the car. We did wind up leaving the beach and going back to Oaxaca a day early.

My husband and I loved our stay here! We loved the quiet location and the view from our room (#8) was phenomenal, both for sunrise and sunset! The room was very nice and quiet too! We didn't feel the need for A/C, as there was an oscillating floor fan at the end of the bed. We loved the easy breakfast here as well, typically we just had their croissant and coffee but a couple of days we had their breakfast and it was very good as well (some great Mexican breakfast options!) We enjoyed the beds every day on the beach, great for reading and people watching! We were able to be in sun or shade, whatever we needed. The beach was wonderful for walking, which we did several times each day. The check in was a little sketchy, I was asked for cash (Mexican pesos) when the email I received said they would take credit card or PayPal upon arrival. They did take my credit card, but it did make me feel uncomfortable at the beginning of our stay! Juan was fantastic every day at the bar, he made great drinks and brought the food we ordered. The day he was gone was not great - no one came to ask us if we wanted drinks and they put a giant speaker out and blasted dance club music, it was not a good day at the beach!! The hotel arranged for us to be picked up at the airport and called for a taxi when we left, that was helpful. We were able to get by with very little Spanish, probably would be better if we spoke some Spanish. The town and beach offered some fantastic dining options.

My stay was a pleasant one. The Hotel is right on the beach has lounge chairs and bed right in front. My stay was relaxing no loud noise only the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep. The staff was great some Spanish is helpful (I have none) there are some English speaking staff if needed . I felt comfortable and safe while there and would return.The Hotel is clothing optional as is the entire beach all tho most guest choose textile the nudity is relaxed and non offensive.

Nice hotel in small town Zipolite

My wife and I spent 2 nights at Posada Buena Vida. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and views are beautiful. The hotel is very affordable and literally on the beach. The only downside is lack of AC which makes sleeping a little uncomfortable at times when it is hot. Just go for a swim, leave the fan on, and leave the doors open. Good wifi reception as well as parking on site.

El hotel es muy cómodo, un concepto muy zen, un tanto básico con una decoración muy típica de le región, sin embargo costo beneficio si es un tanto elevado, cuando hay cerca otras opciones.
No hay habitaciones, no cuenta con aire acondicionado (parte del concepto) son un poco oscuras las habitaciones, las cama es matrimonial.

El lugar es bastante agradable, el trato del personal siempre atento y muy servicial. Me gustó mucho la estancia.

Pensé sería más grande, sin embargo el tamaño del hotel está perfecto ya que lo hace acogedor.

Lo único que si me falló fue el wifi, ya que de pronto era intermitente o no llegaba con suficiente fuerza a todos los rincones del hotel.
