Beautiful setting, easy to access cabin and you can park right beside your cabin. Kitchenette with all cutlery/dishes. TV had reception first night but the the 2nd night. Tea towels and dishclothe would be nice to have. Heat didn't work, and heated towel rack not work...would have been nice to dry washed under garments. Otherwise comfy place.

They never sent me an access code to get into my room. The phone # provided to get help. just hung up on me when i called. There was another guest with the same nightmare. We lucked out because an employee just happened to show up and she had to look us up on her phone to give us codes. The cabin was stifling hot, and there wasn't any way to change the room temperature. I had to open the wibdow which made things very loud and windy. The television didn't work. The only plus was the bed was comfortable

It was actually okay. We received an email prior to arrival which told us the number of the unit we were in incl the code to get the key. It was a rainy, ten degree centigrade summer day and the unit was really cold, heating worked only kind of. Otherwise it was alright, a little pricey though.

Communication during check-in was unacceptable. There is no formal in-person process; you are instructed via email and onsite signage to call a phone number—a phone number no one answers. We had to wait nearly an hour before we received a pod number and code for the key. The pod itself was overpriced for what it was; water pressure was low, there was no WiFi, and the bed was small and without a frame.

First of all, I had read the reviews about getting a hold of the owner to get your pin code and room and anticipated some difficulty doing the same. They had two numbers listed on the wall outside. I couldn't find a free phone to use, but I was able to message the 2nd number on Whatsapp and get an immediate response (I tried to call the number a few times and didn't get an answer so messaging them was the way to go). The little cabin is beautiful and has a lot of nice features but the bedroom is really small. We saw the northern lights outside however it would be awesome if the owner would consider turning off the very bright outside lighting on two of the structures. It made it extremely difficult to take photos without the lighting interfering. On another note folks were coming in and out of the property at all hours of the night. So be mindful of this as well especially if you are sleeping with the windows open. We did find something in the floor of the bedroom, like a residue from something. So it could be just a bit cleaner but perhaps this was just a missed spot when last cleaned because otherwise the cabin was clean.

Not safe to stay in this place

we arrived around 4:30pm and called the phone number many times without answer. There were two other guests waiting behind us, waiting for check in. After about 30 minutes someone finally arrived and gave us the room# and code to open the lockbox which had the key. No shampoo, conditioner or body wash at the shower room. We booked two nights and the next day when we returned we found the door was unlocked, lockbox was left unlock with the key inside, window was opened, and curtain was open. Fortunately we did not lose anything. We did not feel safe staying in this place at all and hope to get out of this place as soon as possible,

Quiet and clean staff nice small kitchen well stocked with pretty much anything you would need. Check in was easy. Beautiful scenery. We weren't able to enjoy the geothermal pool based on mixed reviews on line. It was nice having our own space. It seems to be well maintained. Staff provided fresh towels and cleaned up a bit, we only stayed 2 nights and really didn't expect that. Would definitely stay again.

First, we never got a promised email. We showed up and had to ask someone staying what we had to do to get the code. It is silly when you are using a code and key box to limit when you can check in. As others have mentioned, the linens where torn. The beds are soft and just foam beds. The shower leaked out into the bathroom. What more to say, I would never use this property again unless they fix things.

The cottage itself was perfect! Clean and quiet. Contacting the owners to get into the cottage is another story. The will not email you the check in information 24hrs in advance, as stated. And do not expect a response until after 1600h on the day of check in. There is minimal/no wifi and also no cell service so you have to sit outside the hotel area and wait for a response as to which cottage you're staying in and what the code is. Wifi in the cottages is spotty at best, and didn't work at all for a good portion of our stay.

There is no one at reception, we walked in and had to call a number on a phone - which was ok - only that no one answered. I found another guest that told me I need to just keep on calling until they answer - so I did. Finally a woman answered the phone who was a bit rude - made me feel like I'm bothering her with wanting to check in (at 7pm). I finally got the keycode and got it. Place was ok, a bit too cold (it was July and probably one of the hottest days for the area - but I was cold there).

Beware!! Like other reviewers, we never received the email with check-in instructions and address, despite calling and emailing the property over 20 times. We were unable to check in and Expedia had to find us another hotel last minute. Wasted hours and hours of our trip trying to reach this property and almost ended up with nowhere to stay-would avoid at all costs. They never got back to us. The pictures look great but like others noted, this was a horrible experience for us.

Guesthouse with poor communication, no Internet

Stayed in this guesthouse for 3 days during my Icelandic trip. The guesthouse is located in the middle of Selfoss and Vik. To shop for things you need to go to a nearby town. My main complaints are:

1. Receiption is non-existent. The hotel management did not respond to my email inquiries; they only responded to one text message and ignored my subsequent requests. If you missed a short window of their phone call availability (4pm-9pm) you will not get the key code to enter the room.

2. Horribly spotty Wifi and cell phone signals. The WiFi routers are located 70-200m away from the guesthouses. They got overloaded when many people are using at the busy hours. You don't get any luck with cell phone services because it's so remote. Forgot about staying connected while staying here.

I would love if the hotel can procide guidance to nearby attractions. The swimming pool shown in the hotel listing is ancient and now closed to public access.

Absolutely loved my stay here - the holiday home are based in such a picturesque location with the dramatic mountains surrounding you. Although the bedroom was a little on the small size, the bed was big enough and was perfect for me and my partner to settle into after a long day of driving.

The holiday home had a lovely bathroom (with heating flooring) and a fully functioning kitchen providing a microwave which was very handy.

We were due to receive a confirmation email 24 hours prior to arriving at the hotel with our own individual code to access our key to our cabin. However, I did not receive this code which meant I had to ring the contact number. Nevertheless, once the phone call was completed everything ran smoothly.

I would highly recommend staying here as it was one of my most favourite locations during our travels around Iceland.

My flight was delayed for 7 hours, and the owner did NOT answer my calls or send me the email 24 hors before with access information as they SAID THEY WOULD DO. So because my plane was alreasy late, and I spent 2 hours on the phone with expedia trying to FIND OUT THEIR ADDRESS,I missed their 9pm deadline to check in. When I called to get the code to get in I was told my reservation had been cancelled due to a credit card issue. There was no way for the property to reach me so I found out as I was driving there. Fortunately there was plenty of availability so we could rebook for the night, although they cannot do it on the phone so I had to go find somewhere with internet reception to be able to do it. Not ideal but it worked out.

Once we got in, it was worth it. The cabins are fully equipped and very comfortable. The location is beautiful and each cabin is situated to make the most of the view without obstruction.

I highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a private and easy to reach, place to spend the night.

I'm not very happy with the check in process. I waited till few hours before our arrival, still no check in instruction. Then I called, the receptionist was rude and didn't even want to listen to me. I booked 2 cabins, one was ready, and another one was occupied. I used all contact methods, phone call, email, whatsapp, text message, NOT able to reach the property until I use the landline inside the hotel. I was led to another cabin, no explanation what happened.
I hope they can improve the communication to reduce the stress from check-in.

The cabin was AMAZING. So was the location. Unbelievable. It was also really nice to be able to cook dinner.
However. Getting there was not easy. In the emailed confirmation, there was an email to contact with questions. A few days before our stay, I emailed to ask for confirmation on what address to put in the gps. I never heard back. We got lost, which is fine, though this hotel has multiple names so that doesn’t help. In our confirmation email, our directions were to call from the free phone on the property to get the code to enter the cabin. The email didn’t say where the phone was. I found it in a building that happened to have an open door. The phone didn’t work; no dial tone. So. After trying to unplug and plug it in, etc, I asked some people who were outside their cabin. One of them pointed to another building, saying that is where the manager stays. (By the way, our cell phones were not working). So I knocked at this random house, hoping I had the right building. I did, and he and his wife were wonderfully nice. They really helped us feel better about the whole thing, calling the … owner I guess? … for the code themselves. Long story short (too late) this could have been avoided with better communication from the beginning.

Fantastic, self-contained cabins in an absolutely stunning location. On one side, the southern plains and ocean; on the other, mountains. The bedroom is a little tight (just enough room for the bed, making it hard to get in or out of the side farthest from the door) but that's a very minor quibble. The bed's comfortable; the bathroom was clean and modern, and there's a nice TV room if you get tired of the view. The cabin has a kitchen, and there's also a solid restaurant a few minutes away.

Everything was perfect but I had difficulties when I checked in. It’s so dark in that area, and it’s hard to find where my cabin is. There’s no map, no lights. Besides that, I might say that this cabin makes the best value for the price in the world. You can use whole cabin, make some food by yourself, very cozy, quite nice view, and everything travelers wants.

We stayed for one night during a tour of the South Coast. Like most other accommodation, it's self check in and is simple and easy. The cottages/huts are clean and have great views out from the main living area. Our only downside was the awful (sewer/drain) smell in the bathroom, which was immediately apparent when entering the cottage. This was our only issue with the accommodation and was fine for one night if we kept the bathroom door closed. I don't think we would have been so 'accepting' had it been for a couple of nights.

We loved staying here! We booked an hour before arrival and even though there is no front desk, we called the number provided and spoke to someone who quickly gave us the code to our little tiny home. I wish these tiny homes were everywhere around Iceland!
They're cozy, with GREAT views, private, and also cheap! This place was the cheapest accommodation we stayed at during our 10 day trip and it was also better than most of them! Do yourself a favor and book here!!!
Only bad thing: when you shower the water gets all over the bathroom floor since the floor is all flat and there is no separation of the shower.

Lovely cabin in South Iceland

We really enjoyed staying in the little cabin at Welcome Holiday Homes - it had great self-catering facilities and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was lovely. I expect it would be a great place to see the Northern Lights but it was cloudy when we visited. The only issue was the extremely inflexible check-in time. It was self-check-in with a key box, but the check-in had to be between 4pm and 9pm (with absolutely no exceptions), which is ridiculous considering it was just a box with a code. I wouldn't book this accommodation if there was any chance of being delayed (eg, if coming straight from the airport). Otherwise really lovely though!

At Icelandic prices, it is the best value for money place we stayed at. There are no restaurants right nearby (it's a 5-10 min drive to Skogar) but we cooked in the kitchen. Nice views of a big glacier. There is not much service- it's self check in, and the daily clean appears to be just emptying of bins and provision of new towels, but it was enough for us.

Having a Tiny House is somehow cool. Convenient location. The communication was great - we arrived shortly before 10pm, and the code still worked (works until 11pm they say). So check-in after 9pm is possible! The house itself is nice - enough space for two people. Bathroom was surprisingly good. Kitchen too. The only thing we missed was a little bit of decor - some small standing lamp in the bedroom would add more coziness. And the sofa in the \"living room\" should be replaced by a more good looking couch. But all in all: we would book it again!

Property was clean and check in was easy - we received an email with directions to access our unit well before arrival. The location has a beautiful view. Parking is available right outside each unit. The only negative was the comforter and pillow cases were not soft.

Clean. The living room space fine but the bedroom was so small, one could hardly move in it.
Bathroom good and lovely shower.
The towels shabby, fraying edges and no bath mat or hand towel.
Pillows and pillow slips poor, comfortable mattress.
Coffee maker but no coffee, no pepper and salt.
Disappointing for the excessive price we paid.
Easy parking next to cabin.
No one to greet us and couldn’t get onto the manager.
Overall a disappointing experience.

Nice cabin buy very difficult to contact staff

After we arrived we have to call the owner of staff to get room number and password. There is a telephone at the lobby. However, there's no instruction to use. Only pressing local number was not working so we have to call by our own phone. So you need a local sim card.
The room is clean and cozy and have almost everything you need for a short stay. However, the heater couldn't be open and there's no hair dryer. We keep call and whatsapp to the staff several time with the contact number they provided on the wall but no one pick up the phone and answer whatsapp. So we had a cold night and I couldn't wash my hair.

accomodations were great with excellent amenities including full kitchen, stove top and fridge. appreciated fresh towels for our 2nd night. independent units with no reception but communication was always prompt. would recommend for travellers.

Nice waystop, frustrating check in.

The room was nice with a view of the ocean. Very close to a couple of beautiful waterfalls and not too far to picturesque Vik. Unfortunately no one answered the phone so we could check in, so it took over an hour of trying until I finally sent an email and got a reply. Once we were in, everything was great.
