Place was very nice, clean and confortable. It was confusing to find the right address but once you are in the right door you must ring the bell for the Hotel to het the door open. It is at the 4th floor and there is not an elevator. Is the only down side, otherwise the breakfast was the surrounding are excellent. You have easy access to any thing: shopping, restaurants, terminal, transportation.

This property fit our needs as it was within walking distance to the Duomo and other sites. The breakfast was nice and adequate. We loved the view from the rooftop. Our room was clean and comfy. The service was good and he even carried our luggage up/downstairs for us. Overall satisfied. Only recommendations is they need new pillows as they were really flat and if you don’t like stairs there is no lift like most buildings in Italy.

Be forewarned that you have to walk up 69 steps to reach the B&B. No elevator, no porter. The parking was quoted at 21 euros per 24 hours. We were there 36 hours and was charged 76 euros.

The staff were very friendly and the history of the building was what drew us to stay at this B&B. It is also in a very good location with the Mercato Centrale and duomo close by. The wifi was not great in our room- not allowing us to connect at all and unable to find someone to help us after hours. It can be a bit noisy at night with the nightlife of Florence and I could hear also the guests next door using the toilette while laying in bed.
I would keep it mind that the building is on the 4th floor with no elevator, but the staff are very helpful with carrying your bags if required.

Great location, despite the major infrastructure project going on out in front of the hotel (looks like sewer replacement). Hotel owners/staff were lovely and very helpful, including transporting of luggage up and down multiple flights of stairs (Yes, no \"lift\" in this hotel!). Ample breakfast, very clean, and gorgeous view of the Duomo from the rooftop terrace!

Despite its convenient location, my stay at the hotel was unsatisfactory overall. Situated on the third floor (which would typically be considered the fourth floor in the US), the absence of an elevator made it particularly challenging, especially when dealing with heavy luggage. Throughout our two-night stay, we encountered the inconvenience of no advertised 24/7 front desk service. Upon our arrival around 8:00 PM, the front desk attendant promptly departed after our check-in, leaving us without assistance. To our dismay, there was a shortage of essential amenities such as toilet paper and room supplies on the first night, and we struggled to locate any staff for assistance, exacerbated by the absence of a telephone in the room. Despite attempting to contact the hotel via WhatsApp using a provided barcode at the entrance, our messages went unanswered. Additionally, the water temperature in the bath was insufficiently warm, with no staff available to address the issue. Moreover, accessing our room required passing through a breakfast area, although the service from the breakfast attendant was commendable. However, I found myself wishing for a more comprehensive and attentive level of service throughout my stay.

Staff here are very friendly and welcoming. They will do everything to make your stay comfortable, just have to ask! The rooms are on the 4th floor and there are no elevators so be prepared to work those calves! Breakfast was stocked with a variety of pastries and you can get your espresso or cappuccino made to order. Rooms were clean and comfortable and it is centrally located in Florence. Most attractions (e.g., Uffizi, Academia) are just a brief 15 mins walk. Will definitely return to this B&B for our future visit!

This small hotel is in a perfect location for walking to major attractions of Florence and it is just 10-15 minutes walk from the train station. We were able to leave our bags in a locked area for most of our last day in the city. This was very convenient.

Tge fact that there isn't a lift and the rooms are located on the third floor of a building should be prominent in the advertising of this property. It was also difficult to find due to the obscure numbering system of the street, the external and internal bells didn't work so it took a long time to gain entrance. Luckily, a resident went out of the building so I walked up 6 flights of the stairs to find the entrance door looked, rang the bell and only managd to get a response by telephoning the listed number. The man on reception helped with getting the suitcases up the stairs and back down on departure as we were touring Italy for 3 weeks. The room, air conditioning, rooftop balcony, breakfast and staff helpfulness was good. The evenings were noisy until about 2 a.m. as Room 4 faces onto the street, viale Guelfa. If you are not fit or in good health this may not be the place for you. A lift and ground floor reception would have given a higher score.

This was a great place to stay. Clean and comfortable. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It's in a nice area, minutes from the market, great coffee and bakery shops and restaurants and walking distance to the train. There is no elevator, so be prepared to walk up the stairs a few flights. Percy is awesome and will help you with your bags. We loved staying here and would stay here again.

The staff are perfectly nice in showing us city spots while checkin.
Breakfast variety is okay but optimal. The staff greet us every morning in breakfast area and serve with coffee! It is more warm than hotel can serve.
Shampoo, air con, TV are good! I cant imagine such a nice hotel at low price. I will rate it highest Performance-to-cost ratio!
Most important is - tax fee via credit card finally succeed here. Luck.

We had a really pleasant stay at Locanda dei Guelfi. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. You can tell they put a lot of care and effort into providing a clean and comfortable stay. It is on the top floor, which may be tough for some, but the reward comes with the view from the roof top terrace. We really enjoyed that space as a quiet reprieve before we hit the town. It is conveniently located just a short walk to all thing Florence. Great place to stay if all you need is a resting place and a yummy breakfast.

Amazing one night stay at this hotel, the location was perfect, it was a 15 min walk to everywhere in the city, including the train station. The rooms were beautiful and really comfortable. The roof terrace, accessible to anyone staying at the hotel was beautiful, one of the highest buildings meaning you could see over the rooftop for miles.

We arrived at around 1am due to flight delays. Nevertheless Percy was expecting us and Quickly showed us to our room and left formalities to the morning.Our room was in the roof space so had vaulted ceilings and was spacious with a kitchenette and separate bathroom with modern amenities.Breakfast was adequate and served in a small dining room with terrace views of the Duomo,although you’re surrounded by a variety of cafes & restaurants if preferable.overall a well situated ,pleasant & comfortable guest house. Percy was always helpful and arranged taxis when required.only downside is that the hotel os situated on the third floor with no lift, so six flights of stairs to climb and descend! However, the staff are happy to carry bags up or down for you.

Stayed with my family for several nights as we used Florence as a hub for our trip. We had three big luggage (24\" - 26\") and the property does not have a lift. But!.....the service and supports we received from the hosts (Percy/Henry/Enrico) were unbeatable and in fact this was one of our best experiences in the entire 18-day trip. I must thank Percy once again for all the supports he gave (booking of the tickets for Uffizi & Accadamia, missing cash refund from the gasoline station, luggage handling, etc). The room no.3 that we stayed was large, clean and perfect, the stunning view of the Firenze duomo from the dining room balcony on 3rd floor and the roof terrace is unforgettable, and the breakfast was great too.

The owners of the hotel were extremely accommodating. My husband and I were early, like 9 a.m. early for check in and they had our room cleaned within an hour. This small hotel is great. Persi from the hotel Staff is amazing at making your stay pleasant.
The hotel is very close to Santa Maria Novella Station (7 minutes walking) and its 10-20 minutes from main city museums and attractions.
Firenze is a lovely city and the hotel has great food options nearby. It has a amazing Little rooftop terrace with an amazing view of the Duomo.

Great B&B with friendly staff and great breakfast

Great location and extremely friendly staff. The breakfast is also excellent! The host made us top notch coffee every morning and had plenty of other continental breakfast options. The only issue we had was that there was a smell coming from our sink pipes; we mentioned it to the host on our second day and he did his best to address it as soon as we mentioned it. The hotel has some incredible views from the roof terrace and from the breakfast area. The hosts are very friendly, the rooms are clean and the location is in a very nice neighborhood which is close to the center and has a lot of restaurants nearby.

A gem in the heart of Florence

This hotel is perfectly located for seeing Florence. Very comfortable, a wonderful breakfast and an amazing rooftop balcony with a view of the city. There was a slight issue with the plumbing (a strange smell) and the power (easily went out), but it's an extremely old building so should be expected. We will book again for our next visit to Florence.

A nice, clean, good location hotel

The 4 of us (2 adults, a 4.5 years young child and an infant) stayed here for 2 nights.
The location is great, crossing Via Nazionale, which is sort of a main street, full of restaurants, supermarkets and shops.
Just a 2 minutes walk from San Lorenzo, the central market and a 5 minutes walk from the duomo.

The hotel itself is nice and tidy, the staff is welcoming and friendly. There's a nice continental breakfast.
Only problem is the lack of elevator, which made me work hard on the first and last days of our stay.
The stroller we came with was left regularly on the ground floor (Entrance door to the building is always closed).

No lift to the third floor would be a bit tricky for some but once there a very comfortable stay. Within minutes of the central market and Duomo and within easy walking distance of other attractions in Florence. The surrounding neighbourhood was great for eateries and supermarkets too.

A Great Base To Explore Beautiful Florence From

This is a gem of a hotel in a great location and is available at a very reasonable price. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we got a good nights sleep overall (woken a couple of times by a bit of street noise, but it's nothing much and we were soon off to sleep again).

The breakfast was great and the hotel staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.

This is not a hotel to choose if you don't like stairs, as it's 59 steps to the hotel level and there's no lift. You also need to be prepared to accept a few quirks that come from staying in an old historic building.

The water pressure in the bathroom for the shower and toilet was at times quite weak, although we always got a nice hot shower.

The view of the Duomo from the breakfast room is great, and from the roof top balcony it is spectacular.

Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been a nice addition.

Overall this is a lovely little hotel to use as a base to explore beautiful Florence and is highly recommended!

A week discovering Tuscany

This hotel is a great little find. It is in a good location as not to far from the train station and also the city main square is a 10min walk away. You need to paid attention to the warning about access been via stairs to the 3rd floor. This was no problem for us as we fit enough to climb them. The couple that own the hotel are very friendly and helpful. They provide for any requests you make of them. Looking for a good quality hotel but a decent budget price this is the place to stay. Florence is a wonderful city to explore both sides of the river. Plus transport links are good to other Tuscany cities for affordable prices.

Definitely worth coming back!

I stayed for 4 nights, price was reasonable and the breakfast was great (especially the croissants, not too buttery). The only upside is that there's no lift so u will have to carry your luggage all way up to the third floor. But the housekeeper is very kind to help us out so there's isn't too much work. Room was tidy and spacious so it was all good.

We can recommend it to anybody who does not need a 4 Star hotel but wants it to be clean and has polite and friendly staff.

Great place for families with teens

Family of 4 including 2 teenagers and fit fine. Not a large room but adequate. Up a few flights of stairs so must be able to handle that. Staff/owners are very kind and helpful. Location is wonderful and the rooftop terrace has fabulous views of the Duomo and much of the city. We will definitely stay here when we return (since we rubbed the boar's nose, we are assured to be back!)

We stayed for 9 nights in October 2013. I want to point out that this B&B is on the 4th floor (American 4th floor) of an apartment building, and it's a walk-up; no lift. If you have a tough time with stairs, this is not the place for you. The manager helped us with our luggage and was very nice. Every room is different, different size and furnishings; don't expect exactly what you see on the website. There is no lounge or living room area to hang out in. The place is immaculately clean, the breakfast room has a nice view over the rooftops to the Duomo. Breakfast is simple but sufficient (no hot cooked-to-order food). There is no tea or snacks available after breakfast hours (it would be nice to be able to make tea later). There is a laundromat around the corner. It's a short walk to the Santa Maria Novella Train Station, and about a 20 minute walk to the Piazza della Signoria, but it's not in the thick of the touristy area.

A quiet place with great hosts

We had a fabulous stay at this site thanks to great hosts, Percy, and his wife. Rooms are comfortable and located within walking distance from the train station and 2 blocks to the market. Breakfast is included and they made the best cappuccino I tasted in Italy. Our hosts were very accomodating and promptly helped us with any request we had. I would highly recommend this hotel though it may have a few limitations for some. Rooms are located on the 3rd floor and because it is a heritage building there is no elevator. When you arrive, Percy is quick to meet you at the door and haul your luggage up and down. Our bathroom was large and clean, however, we did share with 1 other guest room which wasn't a problem for us. Overall a nice place to stay and a great view of the city from the rooftop patio.

You enter the building through a hard to find door and are faced with 66 steps (and no elevator) to the \"lobby.\" The stairwell is filthy, stained, and with peeling paint. The \"lobby\" is actually just a desk and enough room to move in and out of the entry door. The room, actually, was OK; nothing special, but OK. There is an advertised rooftop terrace, but you need to climb a winding staircase another 16 steps or so to get there. I am 6', 180 lbs; if I were any bigger I would not have fit in the stairway! The breakfast (included) was rather meager, but fresh and certainly adequate.
If you are not in shape, don't consider this place. Hauling 2 suitcases up 66 steps is no picnic. There was no help available coming or going. I would not go back at any price.
