We choose this property because it was close to the train station. It was plain and without frills or amenities but the air conditioning worked great and the rooms were cleaned. Staff said we qualified for a free city bus pass and said they would email it but never did.

A very basic room which did the job for one night. Quite aged and could do with a refresh. They also asked for a deposit for an adapter which I thought was not very good. The location is close to the main station and walkable into town (down a steep hill).

Hotel a 10 minutos a pie desde la estación de buses, a 8 minutos a pie de la estación de trenes y del fonicular que te baja al downtown. Personal amable, habitación limpia, pero sencilla. Solo cama, baño y TV pequeño. No café, no plancha, no blower. Tiene aire acondicionado, ascensor, agua caliente en el baño. Solo estuve 1 noche y ofrecio justo lo que necesitaba. Parada de autobuses al frente del hotel. Área y pueblo seguro, buses puntuales y habitantes cordiales.

The room was very small. When we arrived there was no one at the reception and we had to wait several minutes. The car park was a narrow street with almost no place to leave it. It is not a car park. Everything was clean. The bathroom is ridiculous, it does not have a shower, it is a bathtub without a curtain and with a shower that you have to hold in your hand. Impossible to take a proper shower.
They promised to give us the tickets for transportation and we never received them.

It was good, but I can't give more than 3 stars because it was not quiet at all during the night. Some people were screaming in the corridor. Also, we came at 9 AM to eat the breakfast, but there was no food anymore. Finally, the shower head was very bad.

It was literally less than 5 mins away from the train station . The bus around Lugano and the funicular to the old town was free . The property was a perfect location . It’s clean and well kept . But small rooms and beds . Which is not a big issue for us . The service is superb . The receptionist came and picked us up at the train station personally .

It was a 3 minute walk from the train station, but was a very quiet and nice location.

The free funicular from the train station dropped us right into the center of town in 3 minutes where shopping, dining and the lake were very accessible.

Very close to the Train station. I picked this place so that I can walk to the train station with all my luggages early in the morning. You cannot get any closer than this ! Facilities are good, clean room. The only inconvenience was the bathroom had an old fashioned ( but very good condition) bath tub- so you need to take a shower with extra care to make sure that you do not to spread water all over.

We love this hotel. The staff are very friendly. The hotel has old finishes but very well maintained, and CLEAN! It is just next to the train station and the downtown shopping area is jut steps away. They also provided us transportation tickets for free so we could just jump onto bus or train anywhere. Love the hotel and Lugano!

Very basic hotel. Paid for a double room and was given a basic room. Couldn’t move in it for two people. Complained to front desk and they moved us to the double that we paid for. Make sure you request a balcony if you book or you will not be given one. Very tiny balcony but nice view overlooking the city. Free tickets for the funicular to the main part of town. Was only provided with a single sheet which only covered half the bed. Disappointing and uncomfortable bed and room.

My stay at Hotel Besso was a wonderful experience. The employees were gracious, thoughtful, and hard workers. Shout out to Cristian simultaneously working the front desk, making sure breakfast was in order every morning, and answering any question that guests had (in 4 different languages)

The hotel is quiet, clean, and in a convenient location in front of a bus stop and 5 minute walking distance from train station. There is also a good pizza restaurant around the corner.

A full breakfast (muesli, cereal, cured meats, croissant, fruit) costs 10 CHF per person and is filling, delicious, and a valuable meal option considering the high cost of living Switzerland is known for.

I highly recommend this hotel and would only stay here if I ever return to Lugano.

We paid double for the room because we were four people. The room was a bit bigger but they just squeeze 4 full sizes bed. The bathroom was nice, but just a tub with no curtains so if you don't want to water the entire bathroom you need to squat. It says there is parking but it is really limited and they said because we booked through expedia we had top pay for it. The location is great and close to downtown. Overall it is ok for one night

A lot Better Than Expected

I used to live in Lugano and have walked by this hotel many times. It is not super cute or particularily nice looking from the outside so i didn't expect too much. The lobby is what I expected, very simple and made for utility not aesthetics. However, the room was so much cuter and comfortable than I expected. The views were incredible, and everything was super clean and comfortable. Loved staying there! Would definitely stay again.

The hotel staff was wonderful in helping us find the bus connection to Varenna. A nice breakfast was offered for a small charge. This hotel is very close and behind the train station so don't make the mistake of the funicular bus that goes down the hill! There is an elevator but no AC, however a fan in the room and nice big windows were fine in June. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Clean room. Basic amenities. The shower did not have a door, just a curtain. The hotel is on a busy street, but they do have parking on the side of the bldg (they have to buzz you in to park and take the car out).

I appreciated the hotel letting me check in early and my flight arrived at 8:30 am.

It was a terrible stay. Staff was not too friendly and you can hear the elevators going up and down all night. All rooms are smoking and no breakfast included. When getting to our room, the hall way was unlit and we had to use a flashlight. Very pricy for what you get.

The staff is very friendly. The room was clean and it had everything I needed, wireless, a clean big bathroom, air conditioner, flat screen TV and a comfortable bed (actually I was given a large three-bed-room although I originally asked for a single). It had a big balcony overlooking the busy street going to town center, a distant half view of the lake.
It is an old building but taken very good care of. Even if they might still delay a total interior renivation; they certainly need to have new window fences and sealings to block the occasional street noise; it was the only downside I could see. I recommend this hotel to families and business travelers alike; if you nightsleep is carefree.

Not what I expected

Room had a bad odour,decore was like it came from a second hand shop. It was more like a cheap back pakers accomodation than a hotel we paid alot of money for. We booked a double room which was 2 single beds placed together with wafer thin pillows.The hotel is a 10 min walk up hill from the train station so its not suitable for disabled or elderly folk. Lugano is a beautiful place to visit but i would not stay here again.No breakfast included in expensive price but they can provide it at a cost in the dinning room. The hotel reception asked you to leave your room key on a shelf with all the room numbers with hooks on it. For security reasons we asked why, as we thought any one could then enter your room as they knew you where out, the reply was incase we lose the key!!!! Its thier policy that everyone leaves thier room key on the shelf. We found this strange as anyone could come and get the key...it wasnt safe. We took our valuable out with us. The front entry has steps which made it difficult with suitcases as well as a bus stop directly at the front of the enrty which teens would sit on the steps waiting for thier bus. Wifi was slow. If you want to go into town its all down hill, but coming back is uphill. There is a cable car in Lugano that will bring you up to the train station again and then you walk up hill from there.

Looks like a convenient location, but it really is the wrong side of the tracks, with the town proper being 10 mins away downhill. The hotel and decor is very dated - for about 120 quid a night, it's not unreasonable to expect a lot better.

The best part of this hotel is it's location, literally 3 minutes from the train station. Unfortunately it is incredibly expensive and really not worth it for the price. It is very old and outdated decor- although very clean. It's also very noisy at night due to being next to a busy road, so definitely bring ear plugs!

The location is perfect, directly near the train station and just a short walk down into the city. However since the bus stop is directly in front of the hotel entrance, it makes it very difficult to enter or exit as people stand directly at the entrance. Unfortunately the hotel was under renovation and even though I had a room with a balcony, it was not possible to use the balcony. The staff however was very friendly and helpful.

No dia seguinte à minha chegada, fui fazer uma solicitação a um funcionário da recepção, que só chegou após às 10 horas, e ele foi muito grosseiro comigo, a ponto de eu lhe pedir calma. Muito triste!!

Die Lage passt und ist gut mit der ÖV erreichbar - Preis/Leistung stimmt nicht. Zu teuer für ein doch schon sehr in die Jahre gekommene Unterkunft wo von 23 bis 07:30 Uhr kein Personal anzutreffen ist - heisses Wasser für Teekrug ist bei einer frühzeitigen Abreise nicht zu bekommen, da auch kein Wasserkocher auf dem Zimmer.
