The hotel was in an excellent location for accessing everything in town and transportation up the mountains. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were large especially by European standards. Although the room decor was basic, the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was large and modern. Breakfast was simple, standard fare. Overall we were very happy with our choice and would stay at Beau-Rivage again.

Pros: Great communication and friendly staff. The location is central and easy walking distance to main street shopping and the Sunnegga funicular station and the Gornegrat train station.

Cons: This hotel states the rooms are non-smoking, however there are ashtrays on the balconies. When someone smokes on their balcony, it comes right into the other bedroom windows.
And on the topic of balconies, there is only a very low, small barrier between balcony rooms, so anyone sitting out on their balcony can see right into your room, there is no privacy between balconies. It also doesn’t feel very secure to leave your windows open at night (the rooms get very stuffy) when someone could just walk right into your room from another balcony. I feel this could be a simple upgrade for the hotel.
The pillows are very flat with zero neck support, even if you fold them and double up.

You should go to Zermatt!

Excellet!! Great view of the Matterhorn. Staff was very nice and helpful. Location was good. Beautiful, clean, modern room. Breakfast was good and staff were accommodating. If lugging a suitcase a taxi might be a better option from train station but you can walk if u want. Great restaurants in the area. Everyone was very friendly.

We loved our stay at the Beau-Rivage! The staff were incredibly friendly and picked us up/dropped us off from the train station. The complimentary breakfast was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel — they made whatever type of coffee you wanted and will cook bacon/eggs for you upon request. Also has traditional breakfast items as well as full Swiss charcuterie. Great location and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

It was so beautiful and amazing. We stayed in their mount Matterhorn's view room. It was clean and the service was awesome. The guy (owner's son) dropped us to the train station on our way back. We loved the breakfast and the lady there. Everyone was so hospitable and welcoming. Highly recommended and definitely we will come here again soon.

We were only there for one night, but we slept well with the sound of the stream running by, and then had a very good breakfast in the morning with a stunning view of the Matterhorn. Bad experience, and the lesson here is if a room is non-refundable, it’s likely because they know you are going to WANT a refund. This hotel looked nice enough online, but when I arrived, I was given one of the only rooms – 1st floor - directly facing very loud construction taking place over the river. Having no interest in staying I asked to be allowed to check out and not charged - it was only noon, by the way. The owner refused, and insultingly insisted the noise wasn’t a problem. I called Expedia – they could hear the hammering and drills over phone and agreed I should be allowed a refund and tried to call the hotel. Not surprisingly – no answer. They had me to go down to the front desk with my phone to speak with the owner who again refused the refund. I realize it is not the hotel’s fault that this construction is going on, but considering there is just the one room directly facing this and they likely don’t have multiple requests, the ethical and DECENT thing to do would have been simply allow me to leave without a charge. It should be a law that hotels inform guests BEFORE they book a non-refundable room if the room is not as appears on the website, and instead faces something like loud construction. Finally, since this hotel is clearly not up front about things, guests should also know that the rooms that don’t’ face the Matterhorn (except the side one overlooking the construction) directly face a large cemetery – and I’m guessing those rooms are also non-refundable.

Location was ok, be sure to set up a time to be picked up by the shuttle as it’s a walk with luggage from the train station. Restroom was a bit nosy and the rooms we got were across from the cemetery. The bathrooms were pretty cool as they are modern, but just know that the door doesn’t actually close due to the design. Room and bathroom were clean and the view was great. The staff was very helpful and nice! Overall, a good place to stay for a night.

Lovely hotel that is relatively close to train station. If you don't want to walk the 7 or 8 minutes, they have complimentary mini taxi service. Beautiful view of the matterhorn from the balconies equipped with 2 chairs and a table. River runs along side the hotel so you get the beautiful sound of running water while sitting on your balcony. Fabulous staff, fabulous room. Couldn't ask for more.

Nice small hotel 10 min walk from train station. You can hear the small river flowing right outside. Breakfast was simple and pretty good - choice of eggs, cereal, cheese, yogurt, and bread. Shower was a typical glass which only covered 2.5 feet from shower head so water usually came out to floor of bathroom. Small refrigerator was nice but wasn't too cold. Pillows were flat but there were 2. No A/C so have to open windows.

FYI there is taxi to and from hotel. Look for name of hotel.

Beware of the Ownet

I’m only giving this hotel a bad rating because of the owner. We made our reservation with two children and he charged us an extra $60 at check-out. Threatened to call the police, which we agreed was a good idea. Then agreed not to charge us extra. He ran our credit card at the price we booked, then proceeded to charge our card again after we left (unauthorized). We’ll be the ones calling the police now and notifying our credit card company for the unauthorized charge.

The only problem is that major construction was being done to the attached building and there was drilling and hammering from 7:40 AM until 5 PM. The first day we left the area within an hour of arrival it was so loud. But we realize it wasn't your hotel's fault. Just wish it had been quieter during daytime hours,

The hotel and the staff were thoroughly enjoyable. But the highlight of our stay was rhe dinner we had in the restaurant. Our meals were spectacular and the meat was the best we can remember. The servers and the grill maestro were so proud of their work and constantly making sure we liked our meals and we're lacking nothing. Best filet and apple strudel ever. Our splurge was so worth it.

What an amazing hotel!!! I loved this hotel. Will definitely go back there again!! Perfect location. Center of Zermatt. Get a Matterhorn view room, the view is absolutely superb! A lot of people actually come this area to see the Matterhorn. You can see the Matterhorn from your room. A perfect view! Room is very clean. Service is very nice. Stuff are very nice, friendly and accomodating. There's an ebus station right outside of the hotel, it's so convenient. The hotel will pick you up at the HB when you arrive and will take you back when you leave! Everything was great about this hotel!!!!!!

We were able to check in early.. our room was ready at 12noon... the front desk male reception was very attentive and curteous... we got a great view of the mountain the room was of great quality and very clean. When we first entered we did not notice the great view due to many cloud cover. When the sky cleared we had unobstructed views of the Matterhorn, along with a wrap around balcony... my only regret was having our stay of only one day in Zermatt.

This was a last minute choice for our family of four - pre-teen boys - for a three day skiiing break. The family room had plenty of space, really comfy beds, and everything worked well. Breakfast was tasty and a good variety to choose from. Room decor may not be the most up to date but had an authentic southern alps charm to it and was well maintained. Great location with ski bus stop directly outside hotel - a big plus for young families who don't enjoy lugging ski equipment around, and there are a couple of hire shops within a stones throw of the hotel as well.

If you have a room at the back the there is a lot of street noise in the small hours which if it is warm and you have the windows open will wake you up.

The Beau Rivage is a very nice hotel. The rooms are clean and the continental breakfast is better then most. This hotel is centrally located with easy access to the entire town of Zermatt. If I had to give a con, it is that the elevator stops at the second floor even though it's a three story building. What makes this hotel great is the view from the rooms. We had a family room which was very large and included a sofa bed and a hide-a-bed. The room could be separated by large sliding doors. Our room (#12) had a big balcony and we sat outside every evening staring up at the Matterhorn. Looking around at the other hotels, I could see our view was better than most.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. The ski bus is directly outside the hotel making access to the ski resorts extremely easy. You receive a 10% discount on the rental of skis from the shop directly next door.

The hotel has a superb restaurant where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. They are known for their grilled meats and the service is excellent.

Our room was very clean and the shower has lots of hot water and excellent water pressure. So nice after a day of skiing.

It is very close to many other restaurants and shops making it easy to walk and wander around the wonderful pedestrian village.

We would have loved to have stayed even longer and would definitely recommend the Beau Rivage.

P.S. The wifi is also very strong.

Very good location but the room was small and sparse. Decorated throughout with bad Matterhorn art. Most vexing was front desk staff claim that workout room was open 24 hours. Jet lagging, I tried to get into the very small but serviceable gym but the elevator and stairwell were locked up tight until 7:15 am when a staffer finally showed up and let me in. When checking out, front desk staff did not ask if we enjoyed our stay.

Our hotel has a balcony that overlook Mt Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland. The view on the train coming ftm Visp to Zermatt is magnificent but be aware that this is s private train n you will be charge extra. Also everything there is very expensive, Burger is 18.00, mixed salad is 20.00 n dinner start at 30.00 up n you r paying in Euros.
The lift to Matterhorn is 100.00 each n its worth it. I guess the longest u can stay in Zermatt is 2 days. The view is fantastic n u cannot find that anywhere, only in Zermatt, Switzerland. I am very thankful that i was able to visit this beautiful country.

Good location in the centre of the town. Staff were helpful with a can do attitude. Blessed with good weather for most of the time, which meant the views were magical. Zermatt could be a problem in a spell of bad weather.

Great little place

Nice location, family-run hotel. Excellent restaurant! The location was good for summer....10-15 minute walk (with 2 kids...) to the ski lifts, 15 minute walk to the train station in the other direction. The have a little shuttle bus thingy that can take you to/from the train station. Spacious room, view of Matterhorn from the balcony!

Great location at a reasonable price

We were lucky to get a room which had a view of the Matterhorn. The only drawback (this could have been a totally random thing), there was no hot water when I wanted to take a shower at night (after 9 pm). The water was lukewarm.
