Fabulous and gorgeous property. We stayed in May, and the views were outstanding and the food and service were excellent.
You can see the sunset and sunrise from the exact same spot on the view deck. That is big the view is.
It is a 30+ minutes from the airport. Free valet and free self parking.
The nearby town has nightlife and lots of good restaurants.
There is no public hot pool or tub, but some of the rooms have one.

Amazing, luxury hotel with amazing views surrounding the whole hotel. We went towards the end of September so it was quieter and the weather was still great.

Food at all the restaurants, including the breakfast and dinner buffet was amazing, some of the best we’ve had whilst away. Food at the restaurants can take a while to come, but it is because the food is freshly made and you can taste the difference.

The only downside and why I gave 4 star instead of 5 star is because of the lack of accessible free drinking water on the hotel. To me this is a basic human need especially whilst in the sun and should not be used to make money. On the hotel site it’s self you can drink small bottles of water in mini bar which are €3.50 each, or in the hotel shop there were only a few small bottles for €0.90. Please just make it easier for people to drink water. We walked to the supermarket a 5 minute walk away every day to buy big bottles of water.

We stayed in the luxury private pool seafront room which was incredible, waking up everyday to sit on our terrace with views of the beautiful beach and have our own pool overlooking it was very special. The beach was lovely, there is a small bit right in front of our room near the Elemis restaurant that is sandy and you can swim in.

Nice lobby and nice staff. Good breakfast. That’s where the good ends. The hotel itself is quite old and in need of good renovation. There are some signs of limited updates, but overall the facility is showing its age. Overall, it feels like an old all inclusive hotel in Cancun that have seen its better days. The worst part is how the shower and sink and toilet are played out. Insanity. We wouldn’t pick it again if we were in Crete.

Rude managers and half board mess

The staff, especially the managers are very rude. When asking them questions, they act like they don’t want to talk to you. We booked half board and no one knows what is going on with it so it causes lots of arguments and tension between the guests and staff. Me and my husband stayed in a room and they only left one towel. They also left bin bags in my room. For the price , I was expecting a 5 star experience and it was far from that.

Beautiful hotel with great facilities, super friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast a real highlight, one of the best buffet breakfasts we have experienced. Delightful not to experience any of the usual sunbed challenges around the pool. Super windy weather made shade quite difficult though as staff stopped us putting up umbrellas and the access to the beach/sea was quite difficult. Games room was a great asset but could do with some love & attention as wasn’t a place you wanted to dwell in. Would highly recommend Abaton.

The resort was absolutely stunning, amazing views and such a relaxing stay. Sunrise and Sunset were always perfect. The facilities were great and the staff were very welcoming at reception with a welcome drink. The room was reasonably clean and they changed the towels every day which was great, as well as provided both morning/evening cleaning. The cleaning wasn’t very thorough as I noticed in the toilet there were a lot of hairs behind the door/toilet that were easily wiped up with a tissue.

The gym had great air con and open anytime of day. I thought that the massage treatments were very expensive at €90 for half an hour, it could have been more reasonable.

The biggest let down was I felt the staff at the Buddha Bar were very rude unless you were spending a lot of money and the service was extremely slow. I also found it strange that even though you had already paid for the hotel, some beds (the ones in the water) were an additional €150 per day.

We decided to go outside of the hotel for dinner to Hersonissos or Koutoulofari (old village on the hill) which were much more reasonably priced and only 20-30mins walk or 5 minutes taxi

Spent 4 nights here with my wife as part of our Honeymoon in Greece. It was absolutely splendid. Such a peaceful, wonderful resort with great amenities. The pool side is absolutely breathtaking and so relaxing. There is a great pool bar nearby and the servers bring you drink and food in very timely fashion.

I had originally a sea view only room and they upgraded us to a shared plunge pool room for free. This was an awesome upgrade. We used the plunge pool a bunch and its basically your own private pool.

The room is super comfortable. Don't mind the key-powered room because once you get and put your card in then turn on the AC, massive vents cool the room in minutes.

The breakfast buffet was always excellent with so many tasty options sure to please anyone. We ate at the Cretan restaurant they have there and it was so romantic. The food was extraordinary and among the best we had had on Crete.

There are a lot of awesome picture and video taking opportunities on the resort too. Sure to make your friends and family jealous.

Some cool local beaches nearby with great views and clear waters - just ask the staff there and they will tell you the options.

Only 30 min from the Heraklion airport - no need to deal with the huge journey to Chania if you are not so inclined to go there, can have just as much of a great time at Abaton.

Highly recommend! We will be coming back!

Fantastic! We went on a honeymoon here. We really can’t wait to return. We’re a gay couple and we felt incredibly safe and welcome. Food and drinks were amazing. Sushi at Buddha bar was awesome. And the drinks, Melon Crush and Abaton Spritz were lush. We had a joint shared private pool which was the perfect option for us. We ended up making friends with our neighbours and we went for some after dinner drinks with them one evening. The whole atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. We can’t wait to return.

The reason for the lower markings on some areas are:

Our reservation was for 3 people (2 adults, 1 child) and we were only provided with accommodations for 2 (towels, bedding). We had a Loft, with a pullout couch for the child. The pullout did not have bedding (pillow, sheets, blanket). I called the reception multiple times (4) to have them send some to our room, and they were not delivered until late in the evening, after the 4th call. For the towels, I had to call reception at least once per day for the first 3 days, to have an extra towel provided so we all had a towel for showering.

Cleanliness, overall we were very satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, however, one of the decorative throw pillows was very badly stained (looked like it could possibly be blood), we left it out and visible for housekeeping to replace it, but every time we returned, the pillow was still there with the stained side turned over so it was not visible again. There were also 2 occasions when the clean towels provided were stained, or not cleaned. They had brown colored stains and marks on them in some areas, which weren’t noticeable until the towel was unfolded.

Overall the stay was very pleasant. It is a beautiful resort with much to offer. The staff were very friendly, and seemed to go above and beyond to provide an overall great experience. They even allowed us to check in 1 hour earlier.

My stay at this resort was memorable. From the moment we arrived the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their attentiveness and hospitality made our trip easy and seamless.

The property was always kept clean. The architecture of this resort felt elegant, you can tell it was carefully designed. The breakfast buffet had a variety of options, and the convenience of being able to book cabs and excursions directly through the hotel made things stress free.

The resort had a peaceful ambiance. Even in busier areas it felt calm, I felt relaxed during my whole stay.

On our final day, my partner and I enjoyed a couples spa massage treatment it was worth every penny. The right way to end our trip.

I genuinely loved everything about this resort and will definitely return. Highly recommend.

My second time visiting in less than a year! Absolutely love this hotel. The service is incomparable and the food is exquisite. Our favourite options were the traditional Cretan restaurant Elemes and the Seafood restaurant Bony Fish. The service and the cuisine were star-worthy in both. My advice? Take the staffs recommendations on dishes of the day. Lots to do in the hotel's complex such as shopping ( I spent too much money here!) and snorkelling in the sea. The spa stocks brands like Davines which thoroughly impressed me as it is a sustainable B-corp brand that I love. The most incredible sunrise and sunset views! Already dreaming of our next visit. My only minor comment is that I would have appreciated a later check out option. Currently late check out is only available until 12pm and I would have preferred to be able to spend a few extra hours in the room by our pool rather than waiting to leave.

We had an amazing four days, the property is beautiful the staff are very sweet and helpful, the food is really good had so many varieties in the buffet. Our room had a problem with the AC and the staff offered a new upgraded room.
On the other hand we didn’t feel like our rooms were properly cleaned during our stay. We had a half board in our reservation although we had to pay for water during dinner which felt weird. Other than that it was a perfect holiday

Abaton is a stunningly beautiful hotel. The restaurants offer a great selection of food and drink with something for everyone. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The Buddha bar and the housekeeping staff were excellent.

Our Thalasso sea view room was spacious and exceptionally clean, with housekeeping attending twice a day. The hotel, gardens and beaches are very well manicured and maintained.

The hotel is on the outskirts of town so it’s a thirty minute walk into the main town or a taxi ride.

We had a wonderful relaxing time and wouldn’t hesitate in going back again.

It was my first trip to Greece and I can’t fault it at all. The views were stunning no matter where you were on the resort.
Whether it’s a chill out day, spa day or activities, it’s a one stop shop.
Also, walking distance from the city so extremely convenient.
All staff were incredibly helpful, you were always met with a smile, and no question was too much.
Overall, a perfect stay and I’d definitely go back.

If you want a 5 star top notch resort away from the bigger city tourist trap, don't think twice and book this hotel. You will not regret your decision. The food is excellent and on par or slightly lower than you would pay in Los Angeles or other large cities. There is a small town Stalis 1.6km or 1 mile away with great bars and restaurants all along the beach with little shops, and markets, which offer a nice change of scenery and break up the routine from the resort a bit to go grab a local greek dinner. The resort staff is very friendly grom check-in to the beach team to the restaurants.
This area of Crete is best for folks wanting to relax and stay close to the resort in my opinion as the other main attractions in form of the famous southern island beaches are over 3.5 hours away and the next bigger city Chania is also about 2.5 hours away. For people wanting to go to those cities and places a hotel closer to those spots is better.
However, the Abaton is modern and a rare find and in a class of its own and truly makes for a nice relaxing vacation with its own small sand beach, with plenty of sunchairs, the lively Buddah beach bar and huge pool that easily accommodates the people at the hotel with grrat music and the backdrop of ocean waves and wave sounds. Super happy with the hotel and worth every penny. Great and many different room size and layout choices. Book it !!!!

We had a two week stay May2024 and I have to say, we had a fantastic stay.
We arrived just before the beginning of the season and it was pretty dead to be honest which was really nice to spend the first few days to relax.
We mainly stayed by the pool most days and was very well looked after by Claudia who is a real asset to the team. She’s relentless in making sure you are well looked after.
My main frustration is the rule around the use of the sun mattresses (yes that’s not a typo) around the pool being €150 a day.
That’s ridiculous and there were only 1 or 2 being used, mainly after a certain time in the afternoon when things start to wind down. Personally, this is the one thing that needs to change as that’s a silly price.
The food and booze is excellent although on the expensive side, you do get what you pay for so make sure if you don’t have all inclusive, you bring some cash.
Everything else was brilliant, all of the team at the front desk and buffet breakfast should get a massive shout out.
If we ever had an issue, it was sorted pretty much immediately.
The hotel is situated 10 minute walk from the main town and you will find some brilliant local tavernas around there to complement your stay.

Very large property. Chic resort, with an “all inclusive” resort feel. Definitely not intimate, if you are looking for that feel.
Nice beach inclusions along the property.
The food was very average and higher price point. Our service and food at Buddha Bar, which has a lovely view, was not good and no awareness to the food not eaten.
The room had an awkward layout, open concept, with the shower separate and right at the door.
Our suite had ants all over the bar area and outdoors sitting space.
The rooms are temperature controlled by the door being opened and closed - hard to regulate. Very warm and then too cold.

It’s a nice enough resort and property. But very overpriced for what you get. I don’t see this Iine as a 5 star hotel.

The linens and beds were great. The gym very nice. I found the rooms to be tacky for my taste. I would not stay here again especially for the price. I got a two story room. The service was great. The staff friendly and helpful. But when I think 5 star and this price I think four seasons and other type brands. And this is not there. Not even close.

Service second to none, nothing was ever too much trouble. hotel very clean. and the food was fine dining even round the pool. only criticism is that rooms with a hot tub have no view what so ever, all you get to look at is a painted wall. so please bear this in mind if you book one.

We had such an amazing stay at abaton island, the hotel is beautiful, the restaurants are incredible and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. If we have one tini tiny complaint it would be that the steak restaurant on site seems to restrict what you can buy, we went 3 times as really wanted a particular cut and on each time we went they said it was out of stock and the same cut of meet each time was the only one available , on the 3rd attempt we made it a little more clear of our disappointment as we booked the opening time reservation to make sure we could have it and it was the same story. Then the waitress went to the kitchen and said it was actually available. I’m not sure the reason for this maybe for stock control or something but it was a little frustrating , but we did end up finally being able to order and it didn’t disappoint. Just a shame we had to try 3times to get what we wanted … but other than that honestly can’t recommend this place enough.

This hotel was pure luxury, the pool was beautiful, food amazing. A very romantic place.. not really for families and more for couples..
Would recommend, on the beach and resort not too big. Rooms are beautiful!
Only negative would be about the reception staff, they gave us very confusing Information about where and when to get the tests, I also added someone to my booking and extended my stay over the phone however the reception staff didn’t have any record of these conversations and nothing had been actioned Xxx

Beautiful hotel and rooms can’t fault anything about them, it’s a shame for such a lovely hotel it doesn’t have a beach. The service isn’t quiet to a 5* standard, Whilst the staff were very friendly the service at breakfast was very slow and everyday we had an issue with the wrong order being brought out or you would order a coffee and they would forget to bring it to you. We ordered food to our room one evening and it arrived with no cutlery or napkins and no glasses, we waited so long for the food to arrive which was cold by the time it got there that we didn’t bother to phone back to reception! We also used our coffee cups in our room one morning and the dirty tray and cups stayed there all week they never replaced any of it and for a 5* hotel things like this should be basic stuff.

Phenomenal hotel/resort, every detail is taken care of, the staff were all amazing restaurants are incredible, the poo, rooms and the gentleman’s bar, when the pianist is playing and the sun is going down outside is simply magical.

Newly build property with excellent decor ideas keeping with the Greek/ Cretan theme yet modern. Attractive, bright, warm and inviting. It has a relaxing atmosphere allowing you to feel serene. Situated on a beautiful cove where you can have moments of seeing the waves excitingly crashing against the rocks but mostly hearing the calm sea.

The Best Hotel I Have EVER Stayed In.

Our stay at Abaton was absolutely incredible! This was my second stay and it was just how I remembered: The hotel is just breath taking, all of the staff are so genuine and kind and no ask is ever too big. You are made to feel so special and will feel so relaxed after just one day at Abaton. We were upgraded - this hotel was a big expense to us and so the fact we got upgraded just blew us away. We were there for my boyfriend's birthday and I notified the hotel of this - a cake arrived to our table after our dinner and was then sent to our room for us to enjoy - such a lovely touch and put the biggest smile on my boyfriend's face. I honestly cannot fault this place. This was my 2nd trip and most definitely will not be the last - I think I shall be back again next year for an even longer stay. Back home now and struggling to get back to reality. We bought a diffuser of the scent of the hotel - sat in my living room imagining i'm still in Abaton!! Would 100% recommend.

Excellent resort, we'll be back!

Our stay honestly exceeded our expectations! The facilities are all new, clean, modern and gorgeous. The restaurants are all good as well, some better than others, but overall great food and service. The entire staff of the hotel is extremely nice and helpful, service overall is some of the best we've seen in a while! Really really recommend this hotel, which is also not so far from Heraklion airport which makes its location very convenient as well. You could stay the entire vacation only at the resort and relax, or take a half hour trip to the \"city\" as well. We will be back!

The service at this resort was amazing. The staff treated me like I was a guest in their home. They wouldn't allow me to carry my own luggage. I had a long drive bc I booked my flight through the Chania airport....so after my unexpected 3 hour drive I just parker the car outside the resort gate, because I wasn’t really sure where to park and was just sick of the journey. The security guard told me to park inside once I passed him. I declined. He carried my bag to the lobby even though that is not his job. Then instead of checking in at the counter they took me and sat me down and asked for my documents and went and took care of it for me. Then a waitress showed up with some tasty drink on a tray for me. I felt very well taken care of. The spa is amazing. I had Mary. She was the sweetest. I did a 90 min deep tissue and she did a mini facial at the end. My skin was glowing. If I go back I will definitely do more services at the spa. The restaurants were very good, the service exceptional. The only downside was the Wi-Fi was a bit spotty, but I just hotspotted to my phone when needed and it was fine. Also who needs wifi when you have that amazing view and beach! That’s another thing that was great the pool and beach area were not crowded. You didn’t have to fight for a space which was very surprising to me. I don’t go back to a lot of places I visit, but I would consider returning to Crete to stay here. An exceptional value.

Abaton hotel is truly one of the best I have stayed in, from the look, the rooms, food, staff and overall atmosphere it is worth every dollar, fantastic resort and I loved our time there.
