Love this hotel!
The location is one of the best you can find and the vibe is elegant and contemporary at the same time.
The staff is always attentive and reservation must know that I love the same room - ass they always book it for me without requesting it.

Fantastic hotel with a great location. Hotel was fairly central to all famous landmarks and only a two minute walk to the Pantheon. Room was spacious with plenty of room, whilst the bed was very comfortable. Walk-in shower had a good powerful shower head and the provided Aqua di Parma soaps and creams. All in all a great hotel and would definitely return! 5 ⭐️

The staff get a 5* review. Excellent, friendly service. The main receptionist with who we had most contact was first class. The property is well positioned for some of Rome's \"must see\" sites and a short taxi ride (if you don't fancy the walk) to the Vatican. However, it is located along a narrow side street where bags of rotting waste were left in 35* heat for a number of days during our stay causing a terrible stench immediately outside reception. This was not the fault of the hotel but the removal of the bags was obviously not regarded to be a priority. Moreover, the hotel's website boasts of a bar, so you might imagine a teatime beer or a late evening cocktail underneath the stars of Rome - well don't bother, there is no bar and the restaurant is across the street where breakfast is ok (once again, very nice staff) but that's all that it is. The stairwells are very tired indeed; the bedrooms have no drawers (at all - not great unless you're happy to display everything that you own to the room maids...) and the lift is a bit grubby and heavily damaged. At £1800 for a four night stay (an inflated price perhaps because Coldplay were in town) you'd expect better, far batter.

It wasn’t just hotel. it is historic building that you can have special experience of architecture and the original paint at the ceiling. It was totally renovated as modern, simple and artistic. Remote control able ceiling was amazing! But their sounds proof wasn’t that perfect we can hear someone talking on the phone, Baby’s crying ... however still I would recommend to stay there to having a unforgettable memory of historic and modern building. Location and staffs was so nice too.

Great located hotel.

The hotel is in a great position between the Forum and the Pantheon.
Very good staff that were helpful and polite offering advice and assistance.
The room we stayed in was large with high ceilings and an large en-suite. We could here the tram passing in the room early in the morning which could disrupt your sleep. A very clean and comfortable room with a good choice of nearby restaurants and bars.

Liked the location. Cool old building that was renovated and converted into a hotel. Snacks, soft drinks and coffee always available.

Didn’t like: noise at nights. Has a bar across the street which can be noisy at closing time. Also there is quite a bit of noise from the tram. State of the property. The walls look like they haven’t been painted in a decade.

we didn't actually stay here as on our way in the taxi we received a call directing the driver to an associated hotel across the square from the Barbieri -- the Scenario. The reason was \"technical difficulties\" ... The scenario was unfinished, without a restaurant and with construction work ongoing. It was like an elegant factory -- all concrete and high ceilings and minimalist design - so no luggage racks, hooks for towels, etc. It was a strange place with little to no natural light - a crypt.

The room was very pokey and there were very dangerous steps just inside the door. There was nowhere suitable to hang my dresses. The bathroom gad no shower caps. There was no facility to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room.

Awful and insincere hotel staff

Service was terrible. Almost all except one of the receptionists had really bad attitudes and did not care about greeting guests with a smile. At check in we waited so long when there was only one family ahead of us. We asked them to help with restaurant bookings and were met with bad attitudes and impatience and they didn’t even make any of the bookings happen eventually. Whenever we walk past the reception desk they would just look up with disinterest and never bothered greeting us. Any interaction with them felt very insincere. Room wise the decor and place felt impressive at first glance but once you settle in you realize that the room is missing many thoughtful touches that other hotels provide. Overall a 4/5 star hotel with a 1/2 star service. Felt like one of those grand hotels in China with a nice building but terrible and insincere service. Would not return for the price we paid.

Our stay at the Hotel dei Barbieri was wonderful! It is in a great location, the building is beautiful and the rooms are modern and cool. When you check in you are given a cell phone to carry around the city, which is very convenient for directions and international calls. The only downsides were that the bed and pillows were a bit hard and the wifi was lacking. Overall, a great hotel and would stay again.

A lovely and historic building tucked away in a quiet side street. Tastefully decorated and no noise from the outside at all.
The lighting was quite dim which was a shame as there was not a proper window in our room. Also no sockets near the mirror. Hair drying and shaving was tricky without seeing what you were doing!

Family of 5. I loved the combination of modern rooms in an ancient building. We had 2 connecting family rooms. The main room was huge compared to Rome standards and I loved that the boys all had their own single beds in the adjoining room. The Wifi is spotty but that is to be expected. the inclusion of an android phone to use during our stay was a huge plus. We used it as a hotspot while we were out and about in the city. It had a great feature where you can press a button to find your way back to the hotel. We used this feature often. This hotel is in a fantastic location. We were in the middle of everything. It's a little hard to find tucked away in an ally but worth finding. Since this place is only 2 years old it is an amazing find. Make your reservations now before others find it.

Only negative I have is the level of noise from outside and our neighbouring rooms, had to buy ear plugs by the second night but still didn't have a particularly restful sleep.

The hotel was great, location was excellent, however the night before arriving we received a call we would be relocated to another hotel for first night. We were transfered to a much inferior property and received no compensation for this. The hotel did not understand that if you are moved into a less expensive and inferior property we should not have to pay the full price as if you stayed at that hotel that night. We had three rooms booked so the inconvenience was compounded. We travel a lot, so this is not first time this happens, but typically there is a fair type of adjustment done if needed, i was suprised this hotel did not handle the situation fairly. Since this was a big family trip we paid and did. Not let this ruin our trip, but it will be improbable for us to stay here again. Hope no one has to deal with this in the future and if so hopefully the hotel handles your situation better.

Beautiful hotel located in center of Rome!

Hotel dei Barbieri was a beautiful hotel with excellent customer service. They even include a complimentary smartphone that you can use during your stay, which was incredibly useful for us from the US who didn’t have a data plan while abroad. The hotel was extremely clean and very well designed. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful with any questions we had. Overall would highly recommend!

Better options elsewhere

This hotel is not easy to find and has a small door and sign at the entrance, so very easy to miss. Considering that the hotel was completed last year, it was done on the cheap, with thin partitions for the bathroom and therefore little sound-proofing. The bedroom walls are badly marked and in some cases chipped. The shower floor was also peeling. Then there are steps into the room and bedroom without safety strips on them -I fell down them twice. The bed is on the hard side. The TV channels should be expanded, as there was not even an English news channel. There was no kettle in the room, but there is a coffee station on each floor which had tea, coffee, fruit, croissants and biscuits. Unfortunately it was not cleaned often enough and 3 times there were no clean cups. Also, the housekeeping staff just walked in to my room without knocking. On the plus side, the room was clean, the receptionists friendly and close to lots of attractions. I've been in the travel industry for 30 years and feel that there are far better options in Rome and definately better prices, as they were extremely expensive.

The unique thing is that the hotel is in an old mansion. However, what you don’t see online is how bad the in finished parts are. The pictures make it look much better online. There are some cool features such as the room phone is actually a smart phone with all kinds of apps you can use to get around the city. Also, every time we took a cab or an Uber, they couldn’t find the hotel.

The hotel is a great escape from the city, especially when the weather is too hot and there’re too many tourists around. Nearly designed, clean, elegant and secluded with its nice garden area, pool and spa. The junior suite is smaller than expected but spotless like the rest of the hotel.

After much thought and research, I had booked from may 18th to 21 2018, this hotel several months in advance due to its location and style. Upon arrival, I was informed that my booking had been transferred to another hotel due to “flooding”. As I was waiting for more information in the lobby, I talked with numerous guests walking in and out, none of whom had heard of the alleged flooding.
Alexandra and Adriana the receptionists gave me no choice but to be placed in a second hotel Exe Argentina . No refund of any type was initially offered even though the room was noticeably smaller and cheaper than the one I had paid . The receptionist at the new hotel later told me that “flooding” was routinely used as a code word for “overbooked”.
I had placed a complaint through Expedia and the hotel manager lied again by telling their customer service agent that I had simply been placed in a room identical to the one I had booked in the same hotel. After much time wasted on the phone and showing documents to prove my side of the story, the hotel eventually admitted that they were in the wrong. I was given a full refund but at that point it was no longer the money that I cared about.
I would strongly advise others to avoid this hotel which is severely lacking in integrity and basic customer service.

Beautiful hotel in a great area! Very friendly staff that was super helpful. Our only compliant was that the bed and shower was horrible! The bed and pillows were extremely hard which made it difficult to fall asleep. The shower water temperature was never consistent. It would go from freezing to scalding within seconds and continue to do that the entire shower.

Last minute cancellation

Our rooms weren't available because they had a water incident affecting a number of rooms in the early morning (3AM). We were told only when we checked in (1130 AM) and we were told that we've been 'upgraded' to another hotel of theirs.

We were escorted to the hotel and I realised later that they had booked us into another 3-star hotel (keep in mind that we had booked a 4 star hotel on purpose to enjoy our stay) of lower quality.

We weren't fully consulted of this arrangement, we were not given the option to refund nor they tried to reach us earlier despite knowing the problem many hours prior to us checking in. They could have called earlier to discuss and resolve the issue.

We confronted them later and after I pushed further, they acknowledged that the upgrade wasn't really an upgrade. They gave us a free ride to the airport as compensation but that is worth only (€45), a lot less than the price difference between the two hotels. I was tired of making my case and let the matter go - I felt that we were not looked after even though this wasn't our mistake. They conveniently found a quick and cheap resolution that suit them and has the cheek to trick us that we're being upgraded.

If you want a true 4 star service, pray and hope that you don't run into troubles whilst staying here. Otherwise, stay someone else.

We just returned from our stay in Rome for three nights. Prior to booking we had already knew that the rooms were going to be small but let me make this clear, two adults with luggage barely fit. So we were not happy about this. Upon arrival we were asked to show our passports and the man at the front desk takes out his phone to snap a picture of mine and my boyfriends passports to which we questioned what he was doing and he replied that he would be deleting afterwards. SUPER WEIRD AND UNSECURE. Then he proceeded to show us to our room and took us to the actual room, he then proceeded to walk through our clean room with his dirty shoes to show us how to work everything. There has to be a better way to do this, it was extremely off putting as we would’t have done that ourselves in a clean hotel room or even in our home. Then the safe didn’t work for the entirety of our stay even though we had reported this to the front desk. The location and the fresco on the ceiling were the only two things we would give 5 stars. Also, like the other reviews have said. They don’t refil toiletries which makes me wonder why they even use Aqua di Parma products and not just a brand that is nameless. The hotel is a cool concept but they need to close the loop with the little things and make guests feel warm and comfortable.

Absolutely the best possible choice in Rome!

We stayed at Hotel dei Barbieri for the last two days in Rome as it seemed like the most reasonable choice within our budget right before the Easter weekend. It was a pleasant surprise that the hotel was housed in a historic building, with flawless, modern interior and very, very friendly staff. All breakfast is on room service, which was delicious. It is a short walk from all the major tourist spots and is in a very safe location as it is just right off a main road. Last but not least, lovely Acqua di Parma amenities and comfortable bed!

Charming Hotel dei Barbieri

Excellent Hotel, great location almost 10 min walk to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, close to many good eats and the fantastic area Trastevere were you can find a lot of restaurants, grocery shops or any other stores that a tourist might need are only a couple of steps away.
I really liked the cozy modern design, the room is average in size, very functional and the Acqua di Parma toiletry is the cherry on the top. The room comes with a smartphone that has a city guide, tickets, and concierge service, and defiantly you can use it as a hotspot if you pay 5 euros a day (what a smart idea). One more thing I just think that the windows need to be double glazed as I heard all the noises from the street.
The staff are super awesome, very friendly and helpful.
I really had a good experience and defiantly staying at this hotel next time I’m in Rome.
