Terra Rica is a private estate of 400 hectares in the Alentejo countryside, one hour south of Lisbon and 45 minutes from the Atlantic beaches of Comporta. The estate is set in cork oak forest, olive groves and open grazing land, with a private lake at its centre.
There are no near neighbours. Horses, donkeys and sheep graze the fields, and the surrounding landscape is one of the quietest in southern Europe.
Accommodation is in four self-catered houses and two secluded wooden lodges, sleeping from two to twenty-four guests. Casa Oliveira has three en suite bedrooms and a private jacuzzi.
Casa Rosmarinho has three bedrooms and its own private pool. Garden House has two bedrooms and a private garden.
The Studio has one en suite bedroom, a fireplace and a courtyard terrace. The two Nature Lodges are wooden chalets set apart in open country, each sleeping up to four.
Every unit has its own kitchen or kitchenette, living space, private terrace, air conditioning and WiFi. The whole estate can also be taken exclusively, opening three further en suite bedrooms in the main house, sleeping up to twenty-four across twelve bedrooms.
Guests have use of the estate throughout: a swimming pool, padel court, covered pickleball court, private lake with canoes and paddleboards, yoga deck, walking trails and a private chapel. Equipment is provided.
Terra Rica is entirely self-catered. There is no restaurant and no daily meal service.
Private chefs, wellness practitioners, wine tastings and day trips can be arranged on request. Nearby are the beaches of Comporta and Praia do Pego at 45 minutes, the UNESCO city of Évora at 45 minutes, the Almendres Cromlech at 30 minutes, and several of Portugal's leading wine estates within an hour.
Alcácer do Sal and Grândola cover practical needs within 30 minutes. Lisbon Airport is approximately one hour by road.
A car is recommended. The final approach is a short unpaved road.
