Lo único que desagrada bastante es las toallas para secarte , están muy desgastadas y manchadas parecen grises en lugar de blancas

Siempre ir a Mocambo es delicioso. Mi familia siempre que ibamos de vacaciones a Boca del Rio, Veracruz, nos hospedabamos ahi. A grand property with great history in Veracruz. The property is in great need of renovations as there are some sections of the hotel and rooms that are worn down. Bed sheets, linens are rather worn as well. Courteous staff. Hopefully, the hotel can be restored to its former glory.

Most of the staff was very friendly. It is a beautiful looking hotel, but it is older and needs a little bit of work. There are also a ton of stairs. Everywhere. The outdoor pool is huge, great for swimming laps. They’re actually two indoor and two outdoor pools. It is walkable to a large modern mall.

Absolute have to avoid if you have any kind of mobility limitation, olders adults and childrens. Property have zillions stairs to move any place throughout the building. The only one floor elevator from the entrance to lobby DO NO HAVE INTERIOR DOORS!! AND EXTERIOR DOORS CAN BE OPEN ANY TIME THE ELEVATOR IS NOT IN THE FLOOR!!
NOTE: Otherwise the property is a historic unique place whit lovely architecture design.

I believe this hotel had his glorious days back in the 50’s , far from today conditions, even that the administration is remodeling room by room , it’s still far from modern days, WIFI sucks, the mattress are solid rocks…. Other than that I would recommend to stay in another hotel if you really want comfort, I found really rude to charge in advance when you do check in……. In this case you will pay what you get….. I definitely don’t recommend it.

- The rooms did not have any kind of small appliances (ie. mini fridge, coffee maker, etc)
- The room were dirty
- The sheets smelled of sweat/dirt as if they were not properly washed
- The bathroom door did not properly worked
- The restaurant was part of the hotel but you could not order from it for room service
- The Jacuzzi/Spa water was dirty
- The \"clean\" white towels were grey
- The bathroom really smell like sewage. It stop working was not repaired till a day later.
- They did not have many extras

What was offered for the price was not really worth it. I would recommend that they better soap for the laundry. Provided proper maintenance to the rooms.

This hotel shows it's age, it's charming and looks nice but it does not feel like the luxury hotel it tries to sell itself as. It feels more like it uses it's claim to fame from the past to justify the \"luxury\".

Next time we visit the area will probably be staying at the holiday inn 5 blocks down the road instead.

As far as a budget friendly hotel near the beach and the city it’s hard to beat. For this I would rate it at 5 stars. The downsides are that the hotel is very dated, rooms and hotel areas are showing wear and tear but everything was clean. The walk over to the beach was close but you’re entering the public beach area. Staff seemed a bit annoyed with my presence.

The property is beautiful. Its beauty and history are incomparable, but property needs repairs. They have one restaurant with very little options and no room service. Location is not very convenient. The lady working the small gift shop is absolutely adorable very nice lady. The young man in the pool area goes above and beyond to make guests stay as pleasant as possible!

Honest review here. For me this property is a paradox. The architecture, fabulous wood appointments, interior spaces and interior pools of the common areas are absolutely beautiful and for the most part well maintained. Likewise with the rooms. The main pool area is dated but the main pool and surrounding mini pools are clean and well maintained. I couldn't help but feel I was in a hotel that was, in it's day, the Crown Jewel of Veracruz hosting Celebrities from around the world from a by-gone Hollywood Era of the 50's. As an architectural photographer I loved walking around the property taking photos of the grand wooden interior halls, columned bathing areas and conference rooms. Walking the exterior spaces is where the reality of this once grand hotel is unfortunately falling into disrepair. The complexity of the grounds is a huge maintainence undertaking and I imagine has suffered from the buisness decision to upkeep other areas of the hotel. I loved this hotel. I am also somewhat sad to see it's exterior decline. I will stay again as long as they maintain the rooms, pools and interior spaces as the currently do. Thank you for keeping this beautiful hotel functionally alive!

This hotel has deteriorated in appearance. Our rooms were way down by the pool so we had to climb a lot of steps every time we left the room. Lots of cracked concrete. The shower had very low water pressure. That took our towels after the first night. We had to call for some more. No hair dryer in the room. We called for ice and it never arrived.

Debes pedir el cuarto detras del hotel para poder utilizar la rampa. Todo lo demas esta MUY BIEN. Art Deco with a Mexican twist. This was a lovely hotel but not ultra-modern,which is fine with me. The staff was friendly and helpful. Easy access to the beach if you can walk . There is a lack of elevators so getting to the beach would be inconvenient if you can not use stairs. Many activities in the area. We had a great time.

Cleaning lady not polite. Harassing my husband and I over a hand towel our last day there. The breakfast lady making the picaditas didn’t seem like she wanted to be there any days we had breakfast at the hotel. Taxis were brought to property in timely manner. We tipped them gentleman every time.

We loved the Hotel Mocambo! It is a beautiful, classic hotel, wonderful for those who want an authentic Mexico vacation experience. Our room was spacious and clean (the a/c worked very well), the staff was very attentive to our needs. The breakfast buffet was amazing, complete with live marimba music, and the restaurant offered a wide menu. The outdoor pool is great, though the slide is super slow (which made it hilarious to watch people try to go down it without getting stuck!), and the indoor pools are nice and relaxing. There is quick access to the beach, but you do have a short walk through a parking lot that is covered in litter and past a shabby, abandoned water park.

Other things to keep in mind: the hotel is terraced on a hill going down to the beach, As a result. there are lots and lots of stairs. I think I counted 86 stair steps between our room and the lobby. Also, the Hotel Mocambo is showing its age (built in 1938, I think) and could use an exterior coat of paint, but for my family, that just added to its charm. There are cheaper hotels in Boca Del Rico. There are also more modern hotels, but the Hotel Mocambo wins for charm and character.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel however I would likely select another option in the area upon seeing the many newer and more modern options. The hotel is clean, the service is friendly but I suspect that the property experienced it’s better days in the past. The one thing which I did not appreciate was that for every little request I had to sign a slip with a value of the item requested in the event that I did not return (second plastic room key card, pool towels, etc.). You really get the feeling that the hotel is managing its resources very carefully or that theft is common.

My daughter enjoyed the pool and the proximity to the beach was nice.

Employees attitude needs to improved- except the breakfast waitress that he was very funny and very helpful. I go to veracruz every year and I used to loved a mocambo - not no more - I checked out and went to AC hotel next door - LOT BETTER! Room AC didn’t work, employees will not care about your needs at mocambo, wouldn’t changed my room and wanted me to stay closed to a building under construction. So annoying! Oh and breakfast is horrible now! Not as good as it used to be.

Nostalgic building nothing else, good buffet but don't ask for something extra because they charge you for it, room big with minimal furniture nothing good to seat on, they had a Rockies chair child size! The bed horrible, to hard to sleep In it without awaking with back ache, big Jacuzzi with a lot of chlorine, 20 minutes in it you will be scratching for hours, big pool and slide to confusing to get to if you stay in the older building, nice garden

Staying at Mocambo is so refreshing. This place knows what it is: storied, classic, and confident. It's an old, old establishment: a well maintained antique. Our view from the top floor was amazing. Watching the sunrise with my book each morning was stellar. Staff is hands down the friendliest and most helpful of all our travels. AC went out in our room and was fixed ASAP. They even checked back in to be sure all was well. Some people travel and expect all of the surroundings of home. Why leave home then? This place provides all of the surrounding of a Mexican home: feeling genuinely welcomed and cared for, good food, and taking time to relax and appreciate what you have. We'll be back.

A classic best-kept local secret

Although Hotel Mocambo doesn’t show up in all the travel books, it really should. It’s a wonderful gigantic old place in a state of pleasantly-decaying gentility. It may not offer enough creature comforts to please the average Costco-shopping, Red-Lobster-loving, TV-watching, driving-everywhere, spoiled-rotten American tourista, but it's a must for anyone who visits Veracruz and who also loves old vintage hotels with a long history. Sprawling, secluded, beautifully-laid-out grounds, courtly, old-would gracious staff, it was wonderful. WE LOVE HOTEL MOCAMBO!!! It is impossible to see how anyone can make money on a place like this; it looks like it needs constant care because it’s so old. But it is beautiful. We stayed in the Lara suite and we had a very large terrace with COMPLETE privacy, with a lovely ocean view. (Oh, and Mocambo's WiFi was better than Hotel Emporio's...)

Good but different to what you might be used to

This is a very old traditional style hotel, we stayed in a Suite with an ocean view, the room is clean comfortable and very spacious, it also has a big balcony and a separated area with a couch, a minibar, another TV and a table and chairs. If you are looking for something different this is a good option, if you are looking for something more \"american style\" the Fiesta Americana Hotel might be a better choice for you. I have taken the children to both and they loved this one better, bigger indoor pools (good for the crazy heat during the hottest hours) and nice shadow in the big pool in the afternoon, plus it has a slide and the children loved it. The people and the service were very nice, the included breakfast was very generous and the drinks have reasonable prices. The internet in the Suites is very good but I understand there are different networks for different areas so I don't know how it is for the other room areas.

We will definitely stay there again.

The staff very friendly and nice local people. The service in the restaurant was great. We enjoyed a lot the breakfast buffet, local and traditional meals. Delicious and Sundays there is a marimba playing nice music. We had a great time, we enjoyed a lot. My kids had lots of fun in the pool.

Coming from USA, I enjoyed the hotel experience very much. Not too many hotels can compete with the ambiance and decor of this place. Quiet and relaxing stay. Although we did experience a blackout in the hotel our last night of the stay. It wasn't that big of a deal and still were very pleased with everything. OH! Their breakfast buffet is great stuff too.

This is almost an 80 years old hotel, a piece of Mexican history. You can pretend the amenities of a new and shining 21 century hotel. But it has an incredible charm, staff and a delicious cuisine. The price is also pretty OK. Wifi signal could be better.

We have stayed at the Mocambo three times over the last 15 years. It is a beautiful old place with charaster that cannot not be found in a modern hotel chain. The old hotel needs a facelift but nothing can reduce the charm of this jewel. In time I have seen the area swallowed by modern buildings. I hope that the Mocambo can compete for many years and not fall to the wrecking ball.

Mocambo is SUPERB
It's an old hotel with all the amenities of a resort of the 1930's. The tiling on the walls of beautiful pictures and the stain glass windows were lovely. There is an indoor ballroom and an outdoor ballroom, a movie room, gift shop, indoor pool and sauna and spa and outdoor pool with water slide and nice chairs and atmosphere. The beach was not cleaned, and that is the only upgrade they needed to do. the room was large with a nice ac unit that didn't blow on the beds! The staff was excellent. Spanish was necesssary to make your stay more comfortable, but that was Veracruz. No Americans for 10 days. There were some English speakers at the desk and we got along OK with a little Spanish knowledge..The public bus service was good and the town was about a 15 minutes ride along the malecon.

La estancia en el. Hotel de maravilla, lo. Único que sugiero es que si la habitación la recibe uno a las 3pm de mínimo se entregue a las 2 pm y no a las 12 pm para disfrutar de más tiempo de las instalaciones.
La habitación limpia, colchones cómodos, la alberca de súper lujo, el temazcal padrisimo y la accesibilidad para las plazas bastante bien.

La alberca estaba limpia, el hotel ha mejorado su mantenimiento, la atención fue buena en general, solo tuve un detalle, pero no afectó la experiencia, la habitación fue excelente, la vista al mar desde la habitación, lo mejor es poder disfrutar de los espacios dentro del hotel durante la noche. Sin duda volveré.

Fue una corta estancia, sin embargo es un hotel que vale mucho la pena el hospedarse ahí, lleno de historia, el primer hotel de playa, con más de 80 años de vida, es toda una experiencia, si arquitectura te asombrara, al igual que sus albercas e historia.
