I had to change room twice with a hot water problem, then the order room had no water at all from the night when I get to the room until I left the next day at check out. The hotel was nasty and rusty. I don’t recommend this hotel to anybody. Unless you must sleep somewhere for the next day. Everything is old and disgusting. It’s not worth any money.

Expectations Exceeded! A Hidden Gem in the Area.

I booked with some hesitation due to mixed reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised! This is a fantastic option for the area. The staff was consistently friendly and attentive. The room was squeaky clean, the sheets were noticeably fresh, and the hot water for the shower was perfect. While I only had coffee, the breakfast was decent and offered great essentials, including mangu, eggs, fruit, and fresh juice. I would absolutely stay here again!

Great staff and was very nice and tried everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. However, the hotel was not what the pictures portrayed. Everything is out dated. Lights not working, air conditioning stopped working, bed was uncomfortable, pool deck damaged. They changed our room 3 times due to multiple issues in the rooms. Rooms were clean. They had to fix the door jam that was broken. Table lamp has no on/off button, furniture drawers so old they stick and hard to open. No soap dish in shower. Water fell on floor and was slippery. Couln't open closet door without great effort. No ironing board and iron. Bathroom door opens into shower. Loose toilet seats, missing bolt and nut. Ripped and torn towels. Tiny paper basket. Breakfast was decent. At night there were no outdoor lights. Very dark entrance.

So since I had to work online, I asked about it, and Joanna at the front desk kindly allower me to change rooms up to the 4th floor for the very fast internet

A classic old school hotel with a huge room, good a/c, our room had a fridge, essential for our needs to store medicine. Pool looks clean and clear, but swim hours end at 6 pm, so no time to get in. The elevator stopped working, but they got it working the next day. Room had a great shade to keep street light out at night. Staff super friendly. But the best: the super fast internet so we could work on zoom without stress.

They should improve the waiting time... I arrived at 1:45pm and they didn't give me the room until 5:42pm... They kept me there without anyone informing me why the delay... In fact, I had to make an international call to find out why... Now my phone company charged me $18.00 for the 33 minutes I was on hold... It wasn't fair to leave me there for so long... AJP

The personal were very friendly. The property looks very bad under construction and maintain. Doesn’t look very nice. The breakfast was mango, eggs, and coffee. Juice and sandwiches wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad. The pool wasn’t very bad condition. The pool deck very bad condition. The Bar didn’t open I don’t recommend. Only the staff was very friendly Location is close to everything.

My experience was excellent; the room and bathroom were both tidy and well-maintained. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. The hotel is conveniently situated near numerous historical sites. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the airport, and obtaining an Uber is quick and easy. The breakfast offered was satisfactory. The hotel possesses significant potential and would greatly benefit from various updates and enhancements. I believe it would be wise for them to invest in these improvements, as it is a charming property that truly requires modernization. Additionally, there should be electrical outlets located near the beds instead of having to traverse a large room to charge a mobile device. The pricing was very reasonable, and I would certainly consider returning.

I recently stayed here and I have to say, the experience was less than satisfactory. The hotel is severely outdated with the pain peeling and the structure chipping away. The most frustrating part was getting locked out of my room multiple times due to the door lock jamming. It often took 2 to 3 staff members to come up and try to open the door.

The breakfast spread was very limited, offering only fruits, eggs, ham, and a single provision. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and helpful, which was the only redeeming aspect of this hotel. Additionally, the location was convenient, within walking distance to many supermarkets and stores.

Overall, I spent just one night at here and that was more than enough.

Extremely Disappointing Stay at Golden House Hotel & Restaurant

I had the misfortune of staying at the Golden House Hotel & Restaurant during my visit to the Dominican Republic, and it was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the property was in serious disrepair and poorly managed.

First, the door to my room was severely damaged, leaving me feeling unsafe during my stay. The lock was not properly functional, and you could see where it had been poorly patched up. As if that wasn't enough, there were exposed electrical wires in the room! This is a serious safety hazard that should have been fixed immediately, but it seems the hotel has neglected basic maintenance.

The bathroom was no better. The toilet didn’t work properly, causing endless frustration. On top of that, the sink was filthy, making it clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. There were leaks, and water pooled on the floor, making the bathroom unusable at times. It’s absolutely unacceptable for a hotel to provide such conditions.

As for the towels, they were old, torn, and had multiple holes in them—definitely not something you would expect from a so-called \"hotel.\" The linens in general were in poor condition, further adding to the overall sense of neglect.

To add insult to injury, when I requested a room change, I was charged extra as if it was an \"upgrade.\" This is absolutely absurd considering the state of the original room.

The room was clean very comfortable.

The hotel is walking distance to shopping and groceries.

Large group stay: 6 rooms.

Less than desirable property. No hot water. Breakfast was poor. Locks on doors malfunctioned: Guests were locked out of and sometimes locked inside of rooms. Some locks were torn off the doors. Staff knew of the problem and would accompany us to/from the rooms. Some doors would not fully close. Property is next to a trash dump. Switches on lamps were broken so lighting was not good in the rooms. Property felt unsafe. Advertising makes it look much nicer than it is. The online photos are deceptive.

I loved that the staff was friendly and polite. Very helpful and courteous. The bed was really good and cozy. Supper clean in the room and in the hotel dispute the area. Check-in was good, however the restaurant part of the hotel needs more professional structure. The chefs cooked well and the food was presentable. Room and bathroom were clean however; the shower needs to be leak proof and contained; preventing a wet floor. I feel there needs to be more bilingual interaction as well as more invitation to guests who don't speak Spanish.

After the complaint hey send someone to clean but it was still in bad shape, they put a toilet cover that was smaller then the toilet and when my son sits down it broke, luckily my son didn’t get hurt. Worst hotel experience.

They Hotel was not bad but there was a weird smell and it was probably due to the humidity. The original room that I was in was too stuffy and was not as clean as it should have been, there was dust in the dresser and there were no wash cloths in the bathrooms. The hotel had a pool and free breakfast which I did not take advantage of but it was nice that it was included. Overall not too bad with a little more maintenance and upkeep the hotel would be much better. The hotel is nearby all major stores i.e. La Sirena, Jumbo, Plaza Lama, Bravo and there are a number of places to eat nearby. Good location! Four miles away is the Malecon of Santo Domingo.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was really nice and so are the the guests. Breakfast is included with your stay. Not just a cereal and pastries. I had an egg, mashed plantains, and sausage. Another guest helped me order. I do not speak Spanish. I am an American. They are very welcoming.
