Stokes Bay, and thus the cabins, is isolated. Situated on the cliff face, looking north, one is surrounded by silence and peace, mixed with dozens of kangaroos and even some sheep.

Nearby is the only restaurant, sadly open only till 5 pm; so bring your own food or consider a drive to Kingcote (sadly with roo-danger for the nightly return.

We stayed three nights to have a holiday… make daytime excursions and enjoy evenings at the cabin.

Highly recommended, but not if you expect action!

Paul, Katja and Poppy made us welcome from the moment we arrived, and the experience was more than we expected. The cabin we stayed in had spectacular views and an abundance of wildlife visiting us at the cabin. A great experience. Highly recommend anyone to book a few days if you want to get away, experience nature, relax and enjoy the surroundings, including a beach cove. Its also a great place to access all attractions on the island or if you want to just have a spot to stay and relax. We will definitely be coming back. Rob & Cindy A

What a great little hideaway from reality! The nature and surrounds were just incredible. Great little cottage although our stove and oven didn't work well or at all on some occasions, and this proved a little difficult as there are no surrounding cafes or restaurants. I completely understand its been a tough few years for all though. We would definitely return. Many thanks Katja and Paul, you are wonderful hosts.

What a stunning experience! I loved waking up to so many kangaroos and dragonflies each morning, walking down to the beach and having a coffee at the rockpool cafe. Paul & Katja were great hosts and the self contained unit was just perfect for our needs. I would definitely recommend!

We liked it very much for the location n wanted to give 5 star as everything was so ready/provided. But 2 issues I have to mention, the toilet lock was not working/ in useable and the windows blinds- all are broken . The towels are very old too, Need to change ASAP. And the second issue was the smell from the swears. We stayed at number 7 and the bio swear system is just 30 metres away… every evening probably all the units using the shower and toilet then the smell comes out. Please don’t stay at number 7.
Other than that all the cutleries, pots , pans , plate , glass everything is Perfect.
Giving 3 out of 5 but we Will come here again.

Lovely piece of paradise

We stayed at a 3 bedroom cottage as the single rooms were all booked out. The cottage is large and more than sufficient for our needs. The living room and dining areas are very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is even a barbeque grilll on the patio outside.

The owners, especially Paul, were very kind and was a great help to us when our power adaptor died on us and we desperately needed to charge our phone batteries.

But the best thing is the wildlife and beautiful scenery that surrounds the place. The name Waves and Wildlife describes the place perfectly. We received nightly visits from the possums and are greeted every morning by kangaroos. The view is lovely, especially at sunset and sunrise. Worth waking up early for. And do visit the beach and the rock pool. The water was so inviting, we would have jumped in if not for the cold. It was the perfect break for city slickers like us.

Just be aware that the place is quite remote, so the internet connection and mobile phone lines are quite patchy and may not work at all in the cottage. But we were able to get a signal on the hill in front of the cottage and we could use the phone provided in the cottage to make landline calls within Kangaroo Island.

We would definitely stay here again if we return to Kangaroo Island.

drive to ferry is 88kms however if you have an early boat 8.30am drive carefully as animals on road like threading through a minefield drive slowly or take later ferry

Comfortable Stay, great view!

Little bit out of the way of major attractions on the island but that is part of the appeal, only saw people twice while we were there. But the roads were sealed most of the way, maybe 1km not at the end.

Plenty of wildlife around, kangaroos during the day and wallabies at night plus we saw a possum :)

Decent size unit for the price, but the bedroom is a little cramped with only a small wardrobe. The rest of it was better with a good size kitchen and full fridge which was a big plus.

Spent 2 nights after last minute booking. Bottle of wine and jar of honey to greet us. Got a meat pack from the office to barbecue on the deck - perfect!

Great wildlife and wonderful view

Lovely location and the kangaroos were beautiful. The cottage needed some tlc and maintenance work. We did manage to find someone who was standing in for the owners and report some problems but not even the basic things like changing the light bulbs happened over the next 2 days. It maybe a bigger problem but hopefully not an electrical one as the fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling.

The Wildlife Getaway

It was great to stay away from the regular hotels/motels and find somewhere to forget about all the technology and simply sit and relax. We both enjoyed the wildlife being so close and although not tame were;t too timid to be within a couple of metres. The vast number of Wallabies and Kangaroos was a treasure to the owners Paul and Katja. And as you sat and watch the possum, goannas, echidnas all were to be seen.

Absolutely loved it.
Was close to the centre of the island which made travel easy.
As we got there we were greeted by a huge number of roos that surround the property, which made us feel as if we really staying on an island of kangaroos.
As the night wears on, the roos are replaced by wallabies which were just as cute.
Neither animal is scared of humans and were not spooked if you got too close.
The property is just down the road from the beach, which looks like a rock beach at first, but a quick wander through a cave path and you're on a sublime sandy beach instead.
The owners were more than helpful and while not there all the time, were just a phone call away and happy to help with anything we needed.

Arriving late in the day after a hiccup we were greeted by the owners parents who were very helpful. The cabins are in a top spot over looking the ocean and are clean and tidy with everything we needed.The little extras were a great touch [bottle of wine jar of honey and chocolates on our pillows ] great place to stay if you like space and kangaroos we had plenty of both .Loved it could not fault it just remember to bring your food with you.Would go back any time...absolutely stoked..
