Lovely three day stay in Menaggio where we really enjoyed the hotel. The property sits on the water and a sweet square, full of life, dog walking and beautiful views. Hotel Du Lac is like an inn, with a small coffee cafe restaurant on property. Everything we had there was wonderful, and the view of the lake and activity on the walkway was lovely. Special thanks to employee Faisal who was patient with me when I called being\"lost\" at another property of the same name in another lake town. He was kind, got us on the right ferry and welcomed us when we arrived at the front desk. He also was our server for a quick lunch upon arrival, and we felt well taken care of. Overall a quiet little town, not as crowded as some of the more known towns, and we highly recommend the town and Hotel Du Lac.

We stayed here for 2 nights in early October 2025. It’s not the fanciest hotel but it has a great location. The bed was hard. Pillows were good. Great shower with hot water! Loved that our balcony opened up with a view of the lake. Lovely shops and dining all around. If you want more of a budget friendly stay in a good location close to the ferry then this will work well for you!

Just wow! So many things we loved about this charming hotel… the fantastic location across the road from the lake , a first floor balcony that overlooked the town square and a view of lake, clean room and comfy bed. Easy walk to ferry terminal and all the dining options. One of the highlights of this hotel was the infinity roof top pool - we spent every afternoon taking in the view from this wonderful spot. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return next time in Italy. Thank you 🙏

I paid 200 euro per night at 9.30 PM, but they have the latest check-time at 7 PM as that's mentioned on Expedia. Consequently, i was not able to enter the room. I was waiting for 5 hours for a manager coming. It's not acceptable. Poor level of communication with that manager as well.

This was a nice little town away from the hustle and bustle of Bellagio and Varenna, but also an easy ferry ride to either. Our room was in the annex building which was a little difficult to find as it was getting dark. Had a nice little balcony overlooking the town. Room was simple, but clean and had everything we needed for a one night stay. Breakfast is not included, but they do have a cafe where you can eat. Only had coffee so can't speak for how the food was.

The staff/owner is not very welcoming. We had two reservations and one explicitly for a family room with two adults and child. He insisted on billing for an additional guest - until we showed the reservation made which proved we had booked and paid for three. Leading to the next point- this was a ‚book now, pay later‘ reservation but the hotel pulled the full amount without any communication or approval several weeks later. Lastly, one room had low and slanted ceilings- in bedroom and bathroom which lex. To multiple head collisions with the ceiling. The hotel also attempted to double charge the garage. One last point, the advertisement/promo photos are deceiving. Very disappointed. I am a gold member and this is a first.

We loved our stay at Hotel Du Lac! We really enjoyed being in Mennagio and the location right on the main square was wonderful. We had easy access to restaurants and the main waterfront area. Our room was clean and our balcony looked right out on the square and the the lake. We were even treated to a local concert on our last night which we could listen to from our balcony. The air conditioning was a welcome relief from the hot summer days/nights and the hotel was located very close to the ferry dock so it was easy to get to other places on the lake that you would want to visit. I would definitely reccommend staying here! We can't wait to return!

If you are going to Como, stay in Menaggio! Not as crazy busy as Varona and Bellagio. The Hotel was in a perfect location above a square, right on the lake, with cafe's and restaurants and shops. Beautiful views of the lake! Great service, super friendly staff. We had a lake view room, it was spacious and comfortable and clean, and great AC! The rooftop pool is tiny but a nice addition for a quick dip on a hot day.

The hotel pre-charged us for the whole stay on the morning of our visit long before we arrived which was not expected. They charged a different credit card to the one i wanted to use but they did refund us and charge us again on the correct card when we complained.
The car park is 100m away in a secure car park.
The room was very basic for the price of the room compared to other similar hotels and therefore disappointing. The bed was hard and the bathroom old fashioned. There were no tea and coffee making facilities and no availability when we asked. Apparently some damage had been done in the rooms when they previously provided them but they were available in the hotel opposite. Every drink and item of food bought in the hotel cafe was expensive. There appeared not to be a mirror in the bedroom and when I queried this with reception they said it was on the wardrobe door but it was apparently inside the wardrobe on the door which we hadn't opened.

We stayed 4 nights for our honeymoon. The second to last night it rained and our rooom (403) had major leaking from the balcony above. Our bed was soaked as were we. In the morning we told the owner and he said he didn’t have anymore rooms and we had to stay in the same room again. When we got back to the room the nightstands were moved and the bed pushed up against the wall. The chandelier that also was dripping water was still above the wet mattress that had new sheets on it. The other solution was the bath towel carpets they placed. It rained again overnight and we got wet again. Not the best honeymoon. The owner also had the nerve to joke that it’s the first time we got to shower in bed. No discount, no free bottle of $5 wine, nothing. The view was nice and that’s about it. The walls are paper thin also, when people closed their doors it was like they were slamming it in your room. The cleaning station is outside the rooms too and she comes around 7am slamming all the cabinet doors and wakes you up.

Avoid, worst customer service I've had in my life. 35 days before checkin my wife and I endup in the hospital with a life threatening condition that requires surgery, I call to the hotel offering to pay them extra so that they postpone our reservation for a month or two. First they wouldn't even respond to my calls and messages, after one week I managed to get through to somebody called Luigi, he told me it's not their problem and even though I was calling them 35 days in advance it was not in their interest to accommodate my ask.

Lake front location and at the heart of Piazza Giuseppe.
It is a small hotel with a great view of the lake and it has that old Italian vibe that I like. If you are looking for a modern hotel, I don't think Lake Como is the place that you want to visit because it is a provincial area filled with rich local Italian scenery and most of the hotel have the same concept.
It is a walking distance to a local grocery store called Conad. I do recommend to visit their local bakery- Il Fornaio because the pizza and the freshly made sweets are all DELICIOUS!
There's a lot of restaurants and Gelato places near by. If you want to visit the other provinces in Lake Como, you can take the ferry and it's not that far from the hotel.
We really enjoyed our stayed in Menaggio and I am convinced that I left my hear there.

Note: Saturday they have a live band performing at the Piazza.

I liked having the bar/ restaurant downstairs, and the location was perfect for everything. I didn’t like that the hot water spigot screeched when turned on, and that the elevator was noisy going up and down. You could hear it from our room. I also liked that the AC worked well and the glass in the windows kept the outside noise quiet.

The hotel was of a very good standard. Our room was in the annexe as expected. The room was in an excellent state of decoration with plenty of wardrobe and storage space. The bathroom was large and modern. Everything worked - there were no problems. The room was on the 2nd floor served by a modern lift. The hotel is well situated in the town square by the lake. The cafe on the ground floor sells a good selection of food at reasonable prices. The parking is in a seoerate garage nearby. It is very tight when full but worth the 12 Euro per night as parking is difficult to find in menaggio. The location is also near the ferry dock with services all around the lake. It’s best to leave the car and just use boats.

The location of the Hotel is wonderful as you are in the center piazza of Menaggio. It’s lovely. There is no real service other than cleaning from the staff as they operate out of a restaurant but they are very friendly and kind. They are helpful with information primarily. The bus stop is a 5-10 minute walk from hotel. Boat rides to Bellagio are a short walk away.

I cant say enough good things about this charming hotel..The staff were extremely pleasant from check in to check out...everyone from front desk to waiters in the cafe. The location was perfection. Close to everything in town and the boat to other villages. The view was spectacular from our room. The hotel is an old building but the bathrooms are renovated and the beds comfortable so you really dont need much else. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We treated ourselves to a hotel right in town on this visit to Menaggio and were not disappointed. We had a funny little attic room on the 4th floor, which was spacious enough. The double bed we had requested, was actually twin beds, but staff made them up into a double for us on request. The best thing about our room, was that it opened onto the roof terrace. We had a little section that was ours, but the whole terrace was only used by other guests once in our 3 nights - so was basically ours with a stunning view. Nice to sip a wine out there and read in the early evening before the mossies arrive. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel bar, preferring a local patisserie that had great coffee too.

Brilliant location

Everything about our stay was fabulous. The staff were very helpful. The room was comfortable and ample for two day stay. It was in a great location, right on the beachfront surrounded by other restaurants. The hotel provided paid parking in a nearby safe location. There was an open air deck to sit on at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The view from the deck was spectacular.

Would come back here in a blink!

Loved! Loved! Loved! this nice hotel right in the middle of Menaggio, a beautiful little town on the water. The hotel is located right on the square, service is great, our room was impeccable, everybody was super friendly. We had both a view of the town square and of the lake. Very comfortable, has a great little mini-bar, beds were cozy, a/c worked just fine. No complaints!
