The room had no sound insulation at all, and I could hear everything from the next room and in the hallway, which was very unpleasant.
The air conditioning, towel warmer and TV in the room were broken and would not turn on. The water pressure in the shower was very weak and all the facilities seemed old and unclean.

Very overrated and overpriced. The rooms are clean and tidy but dated. The gym was pointless as all of the machinery very dated and I couldnt get any of it to turn on.

Interior is outdated and the rooms for sure lack maintenance! For the amount paid for just a couple of day, expectations are definitely not met! We did not have a bad stay but it could've been far better if the rooms were upgraded in a sense that you are in a proper hotel! The bathrooms must for sure be redesigned and upgraded! They were very small and not layout did not make sense..

Nice hotel with great prices right by Little Tokyo

Finding the Asahi hotel it’s pretty straightforward. It is also a boarding house apparently but did not see anyone else staying so perhaps they had a different entrance. The service at the front desk was first rate, Super friendly may check in and check out a breeze. Parking was inexpensive at €15 per day and that covered 24 hours. Parking is assigned and recommend reserving ahead of time. I did not but was still lucky enough to land a spot right by the front door, I will warn you, the spaces are narrow as each spot has a gate of its own. The room was simple as expected for the great price and some of the features could be updated. Took a bit to get the AC working, but it did just fine. The hotel location is near Little Tokyo and a very good breakfast café. The walk to Little Tokyo is a bit sketchy due to panhandlers and drug abusers. My son and I were approached twice in one day and walk past Multiple people passed out from something. Did allow for some talking points with my 15-year-old so there’s that. Overall would stay there again.

From thus user’s perspective, the hotel is well run by competent, friendly and engaged staff (which goes a long way…). The place is also very clean, and the only drawback is that the overall furnishing of the rooms (well, the room I occupied at a minimum) seems in need of an upgrade, more for the looks than for function. The single occupant room I had is VERY small, but surprisingly functional (I.e., sufficient desk space to do some computer work. All this said, I would come back due to the professional and friendly atmosphere overall.

I stayed here for a business trip. The room was entirely clean. It has only few lights and is not bright, so it is quite dark even during the day. But if you just want to sleep, it's fine.

The only one disappointing point is breakfast. Japanese food is very tasteless from me, a Japanese.

- shower head water pressure was extremely hard / not bearable to use on skin at all. Highest pressure ever in my life!!!!!
- upon arrival lot of non-resident guests where partying in the lobby, asked for a quiet room and was given a room on the first floor right in front of the entrance, where the partying people were talking/ singing and smoking. Receptionist was among them, so I guess they invited friends?!
- in the Morning, I was woken by my neighbor who was talking around with high heels in the room for 30min prior to leaving. I went to reception and asked if the guest would stay longer and could be advised that it was extremely noisy. Was advised at reception that customer would check out but feedback will be passed on regardless. Customer didn’t check out and had same problem again next day and had to interact with customer myself for noise to stop.
- was woken on both days once more by cleaning staff who were chatting from 7:30-8:30 right in front of my door with no regard for customers. Had (on both days) ask them to go away and be more considerate. Same staff both days and they had no regard for my request.
- Change your staff and adjust the shower pressure and all is great.

Very nice

Just a single night stay in this modern hotel close to the main train station. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful and the room was lovely with a small separate seating area, a balcony and a Nespresso type coffee machine. The bathroom had a bath and a separate shower plus two wash basins. Everything was spotlessly clean.

It was a reasonable hotel, but did not live up to its 4 stars. The room was equipped with microwave and cooking hob, however no cutlery, crockery or cooking equipment was provided. Limited toiletries were provided and never refreshed once used without having to request them from downstairs. The cups were returned dirty to the cupboard each day. There was a loud air conditioning unit in the room, but it wasn't very effective. Opening the windows was possible, however noise could be problematic

Excellent hotel near train for business traveller

Hotel Asahi is an excellent medially expensive hotel within walking distance from the Düsseldorf train station with excellent staff support for a business traveler.
PROS: When I asked if I could print some files in their business center, they asked me to mail it to the front desk upon which they printed them free of charge. The front desk was super nice and helpful.
The room was very clean with wooden floors and a small rug. The bed and comforter were very comfortable and the shower was super hot and very strong. There was a free bottle of mineral water. The hotel has a bar on the first place and a nice sitting area with an amazing fish tank that seems to be breeding place-like algae eaters.
CONS: I couldn't find a way to adjust the temperature in the room and the shower area was very small and the water from the shower ran into the bathroom floor. Need to put towels down.
BOTTOM LINE: I would stay there again and I highly recommend this hotel.

Error on booking & got blamed by hotel manager!!!!

Stayed two nights with family. Booked two-twin bed rooms (means 4 single bed) but they don't have this kind of room so first day, I got another room as free of charge after one hour waiting at reception at night but on 2nd day, one german manager told me to contact 'hotels' to solve this issue by myself. She said it was not their fault so it's not their responsibility at all. So I was really embarrassed and upset but didn't have other choice. So 2nd day, our family slept with 2 single beds & one small extra bed which was very UNCOMFORTABLE.
If I knew it in advance, I wouldn't pay much higher cost than other hotels around this place.
I will not stay at this hotel in the future.

Nice quiet area very convenient for all publuc transport. Just 3 stops away from old town. Tourist office judt a short walk away. Comfy room snd beds and air con very efficient and quiet. Buffet breakfast was good with good choice to suit all tastes.Best to prebook breakfast to make a good saving.

A great hotel with a friendly reception staff

The local was ok. It is Close to the central station but a bit far from the city center as I thought it would be.
The rooms are very comfortable but the twins beds are a bit smaller than usual
The reception staff were very very friendly
For this I would rate this hotel with a 10 !!!
Mr Ken Pudewell from the reception staff were very kind and helpful to us
he gave us his assistance everything we asked for a taxi because we don't speak German and he always explain the taxi drivers where we wanted to go and gave us all the information we needed

she even gave me the first morning free coffee and free croissants
Because I came down after 10 am looking for breakfast thinking that it was served till11 am.
So overall a very pleasant experience and I can surely recommend this hotel to family and every one.

great room size, excellent bed and duvet, but pillow too soft (the softest i've ever tried, not enough support for neck, very bad for people who have neck problem), and there're no other options provided. breakfast price is outrageous even for european standard, not everyone need japanese style breakfast, it'd be more considerable if they have a la carte or at least simple bread and coffee choice for guests who don't want to pay 24 euro for a breakfast they don't need. service in general is very efficient. bathroom ok, shower very strong, but the glass panel design on the bathtub is problematic, unless you're extremely careful, water will splash out to the floor when you shower. iron and trousers press set up is excellent. the best i've ever found in hotels. room light is too dim, hard to read at night, hope they'll at least provide reading lamps.

Great Location, Fantastic Staff

Location is perfect for walking to all of the major tourist areas, including train station and Altstadt. The staff were as helpful and friendly as any. The hotel is clean and quite functional, though it is a bit dated and will eventually need a refurbishment. Shower was sizable, but not adequately walled in, so difficult to not splash water outside. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is not 4 star. It is a good 3 star. It's the little extras a 4 star has in quality eg my bathroom had no lock (not an issue as only me in the room), empty toilet roll left on bathroom floor after cleaning etc...

However, the staff on reception are very much 4star and more.

What can i say, rooms are fully equiped, safe, minibar, ironing table with iron, bidet, all that is needed. Looks new on the inside with nice furniture and tapestry. Short walk to train station and maybe 10 minutes to Konigsalee. Most of all the staff at the desk was professional and very helpful. Even the cleaning ladies were polite curteous. Hotel was easy to spot. The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming. When we realized we forgot our toothbrushes, the hotel staff happily provided them for free. Spoke German, English, and Japanese. My Japanese wife liked NHK availability on the TV. They have Japanese newspapers for free, but were unfortunately out. All in all a good hotel, though, and would stay again (and may, we make occasional trips to Dusseldorf's Japanese street).

I believe it's the breakfast that saves the 4 stars. Rooms are OK but a little worn down. Convinent location close to the Hauptbahnhof (railway station), with easy access to/from the airport. The receptionist makes a difference.

This Hotel and the price doesn't match up to what they deliver. The breakfast is way overpriced, along with the parking. The rooms are below average at best. The worst part comes if you decide to change your hotel stay. They will most likely keep your money and tell you they will try to get the room re-booked.

I usually staty Hotel Asahi for business trip. Especially I enjoy Japanese style breakfast even though there is not so many kinds. It would be much satisfactory if it is much cheaper. Generally, I like this hotel.

Reasonable is the first thing that comes to mind, not 4*.
Room was big and comfortable. Childs bed provided.
BUT, the bathroom can only be described as a nightmare.
So small you could only use the toilet at 45deg. and the complimentary toileteries were abismal; one soap, shampoo on first day didn't get replaced on second day and completely disappeared on the third.
Location is ok in that it is quiet and has parking, E15/day, but you do need a tram pass to get into town (at least one change of tram)

Internet is not working properly !!!

Internet is not working during 3 days stay.
Sometime is on, but slow, this has to be sorted even eur10 is on top of the room fee as this is business hotel. A lot of guests are complaining I think as I stayed during exhibition period.

It's unique that Japanese breakfast is complimentary but I am disappointed at internet situation as I needed to find internet zone outside which is pretty bad.

Decent place to store your items while on vacation

This place is is decent if you just need a hotel to store your items while you are traveling. If you are working from the hotel room or will actually be spending time in the hotel room itself I would look elsewhere. The beds are small, internet is slow, there really is not a kitchen, and the price is not too attractive as compared to other hotels in the immediate area.

This is supposedly a 4* hotel, but reception offers little facilities - the bar / restaurant was tiny (and empty). The room was on the 12th floor, accessed from the 11th floor then up a set of stairs. The room was odd - like it had been squeezed into a space that was left - the bathroom like a narrow corridor which litterally was 30cm between sink and wall. Half of the bathroom lights didn't work. Its certainly no where near as good as some of the other 4* hotels in Dusseldorf.

This is was my second time staying at Hotel Asahi, and just like the first time I found it to be comfortable, clean and located in a great spot to move around Dusseldorf. While the area around the hotel is not the best, it is not a terrible area either. The main train station is 3 minutes away by foot and restaurants, shopping and other points of interest are all within walking distance

This hotel is located not too far a walk from the main train station, but about a 20 minute walk to the main part of town where it all happens, so consider what is more important to you location wise.

The unlimited free Wifi was great and the service and quality of hotel were great, as was the breakfast with both a continental option and a Japanese option. The wellness centre has a sauna but only very limited gym equipment and limited times.

Overall I enjoyed my stay and it was topped off with receiving a lunch pack on check out which was a great surprise.
