The esthetics of the hotel are fine, the room looked clean, it didn't smell to clean however it looks fine. The heating was not working, the bathroom is not practical as is open and you have to clean it after having a shower as it gets everything wet, they even put the tools to do it, so they are very aware of the issue. The hot water was intermittent so I didn't enjoyed the shower at all. Breakfast has variety, however low quality, microwaved eggs, and other things that taste like plastic. On the website the breakfast was announced for like €34, on the desk they asked me for €21, too expensive for what they offer. Not really my cup of tea. Happy to share pictures but I don't see the option to add them.

Clean large room with terrace with a great seaview love come back here in the summer for walks and bike riding. Lovely area not been here for over 40 years since I left the Netherlands.
Highly recommend this hotel for a longer stay, originally only booked for one night with booked another night straight away.
Amazing for water sports.

The room had a ver foul sewage smell, stained bedding and carpet. The shower was moldy, toiletries provided were empty when I went to use them. Tried opening window to let in fresh air and spiders were everywhere behind curtains. I did ask to be moved to another Timm and the front desk did accommodate me. Next room was a bit better but similar condition in the bathroom. The condition of the rooms are very old, damaged and needing a complete upgrade. Lobby and restaurant looked nice. I did not eat onsite as restaurant was closed early upon arrival.

Nice location on the beach. Room was nice, perhaps getting somewhat aged but that was reflected by the price. A bit longer walk in to Makkum itself, but doable and safe. We picked it for the water view and easy access to laundry facilities, right nearby, for the midpoint of our trip.

Steel mattress springs no topper

The mattress springs were harsh I am still limping around from the ache in my hip. My back aches and my shoulder is sore. II slept on top of the comforter to add cushion. It helped some. Very nice people and service but I ache and now need a massage to enjoy the rest of my vacation.

Overall, a bit basic but it was an okay stay for one night in the winter. Mostly just the lack of transparency, as the hotel reception charged triple the amount of the 'additional fee' than what was listed on the Expedia site when booking. Otherwise fine for what you pay - thank you!

We checked into our room and it was so barebones it was unbelievable. The room was dark, the bedding looked very worn, and there were no pictures on the walls. It was stripped bare of everything. It was so bad we left the hotel and went to Sneek and stayed at another hotel. When we left we told the person at the reception desk we were leaving, and why, and they acted as if they could care less that weren't satisfied with the room. We would really like Orbitz to consider a refund to us as the hotel would do nothing.

On the sea in Makkum

Really liked many aspects of this hotel. I was there in the winter for a visit to one of the many yards that calls Makkum home. Restaurant and service was two highlights and the view from the room was great. Bed and bedding, not so much, the team would need to switch things up for me to sleep well with both feeling dated and bedding not fitting well to the bed.

Great location. Great restaurant. The hotel itself is just outdated and basic. Dirty floors, and walls. Beds are single and not double which isn't the best. Also, it's overpriced for what you get. We paid through this site and we're required to pay extra for breakfast and an extra bed (even though we booked for the extra person). We didn't want breakfast but they said we booked it and had to pay the extra cost for it.

The restaurant has a really good cook and team, excellent cuisine and that in The Netherlands ..
Rooms are dated but they build new and should be ready soon. Hopefully they get rid of the cigarette smokers because that’s a health hazard and gross too, yak.

My colleague and I arrived at 8:15 in the evening, we had both done a long days work and were hungry. We were then told that the restaurant was closed, and that the hotel could not serve us a meal not even a sandwich! When I complained I was told that they were under a COVID lockdown, I knew that perfectly well but that is no excuse for not providing a meal on a tray to be taken off to the bedroom.
If I wanted to stay in a motel then I would have booked such but I booked and paid for a Hotel precisely because I wanted food included.
Along with all essential workers I am well aware of the rules around Covid but if I were to use lockdown as an excuse not to work then no one would have any power.
We were able to order a take away but this was not something that the staff were able to assist with we had to sort this out ourselves.

All was good in the Hotel, except the internet covered is extremely bad. Since I stayed for a business, the internet was crucial for me. But during the weekend, they couldn't help me with it. So that wasn't very pleasant. All staff members were amazingly helpful, but some of the receptionists.

Check in was ok although it took ages for someone to come to receptions. Asked to reserve a table for dinner but that wasn’t possible and had to be done thru the reception. The room was pleasant over looking the water - unfortunately the restaurant extraction fans were beside the room so blew out kitchen smells noisily all night.
The vanity mirror is set for someone over 6 foot. The bathroom light is on a timer so u end up showering in the dark. They didn’t give us WiFi info at reception and there’s no number in the room to call reception so I used my phone to call for an outside line. The same receptionist spelt out the password .. it didn’t work - I spelt it back to her pheonetically - that didn’t work. She couldn’t bring up the writtenpassword so I went down - turns out she doesn’t know the dif between a and e ... she laughed it amused her. Personally o found it annoying and her lack of help u professional. Dinner was good. Breakfast was ok. There’s no where to plug Hairdryer by a mirror ...

We had a nice stay at the Beach Hotel de Vigilante. We had lovely meals in the restaurant and breakfast was great. The Family Room fit our needs well but I was disappointed to find quite a bit of mould in the shower 😞. I also felt that the room really could have benefited from a small mini fridge.

Good Location, nice Lobby/Bar area - nothing else.

We had a room for two persons, the carpet was dirty & old, there were only big curtains but no light ones (means during day time people could stare into your room). The bed sheets weren't changed within the whole stay.

The reception employees couldn't answer questions about things to do in the area (3 different people were asked).

The breakfast was VERY simple for a 4 Star Hotel. The worst part was the coffee machine - you had to stand in line for minutes to get one little cup if coffee. The employees during breakfast didn't see if the guests needed them. Each guest had to actively go to them and ask for things needed.

Bike renting was nice, they offer high quality bike.

Service at the bar in the evening was helpful and friendly. Lobby and Bar area looked nice and modern (not the room).

everything looks fine, breakfast, friendly staff, location, and beachfront location. There are good restaurants around. It is lovely but there are some minor negative feedback like water in shower gets cold and hot repeatedly and it makes it a bit unpleasant to take a shower. Besides, the beds are not so comfortable for us. they were a bit too soft. But, it is just a matter of preferences.
I would recommend this hotel for family and leisure visits.

De voorbije Krokusvakantie verbleven we twee keer met het gezin in het strandhotel : Familiekamer en Familiekamer Deluxe. De kamers zijn geweldig: zéér ruim, mooi en praktisch ingericht - een absolute aanrader voor een gezin. Bij andere hotels moeten de kinderen op een klein hard zetelbed, maar hier heeft iedereen een heerlijk zacht volwaardig bed! Ook het linnengoed en kinderbedje is goed en degelijk.
Het ontbijt is met één woord te omschrijven als fantastisch! Zowel voor volwassenen als kinderen: ruime keuze, warme en koude opties, gezond of mindere gezondere (kindermuffins!) variaties! Iedereen ging ruim voldaan van tafel en veel blije gezichtje!
Kort samengevat: voor ons was het verblijf een onverwacht pareltje en dus een absolute aanrader voor het gezin!

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
wir möchten uns bezüglich unseres Aufenthalts in Ihrem Hotel beschweren. Am Abreisetag wurden wir von einer Mitarbeiterin vor allen anderen Gästen darauf hingewiesen, dass wir angeblich kein Frühstück gebucht hätten. Diese Aussage war jedoch falsch – das Frühstück war in unserem Aufenthalt inbegriffen, und wir haben an den vorherigen Tagen auch ganz normal gefrühstückt.
Die Art und Weise, wie die Mitarbeiterin uns angesprochen hat, war in keiner Weise angemessen. Sogar andere Gäste (niederländische Urlauber) haben uns darauf angesprochen und mitgeteilt, dass sie die Situation als sehr unangemessen und erniedrigend empfanden. So etwas erwartet man insbesondere in einem 4-Sterne-Hotel nicht.
Darüber hinaus möchten wir anmerken, dass laut unserer Reisebestätigung lediglich 8 € in der Unterkunft zu zahlen waren, wir jedoch 16 € berechnet bekommen haben. Wir bitten um eine Überprüfung und entsprechende Rückmeldung.

Warnung vor Zimmer 112. Es erwartet einen ein absolut widerlicher, fischiger, fettiger Geruch der einen die ganze Nacht nicht schlafen lässt. Die Küche befindet sich nämlich direkt darunter. Balkontür aufmachen bringt Nix, dann wird es sogar noch schlimmer. Zusätzlich sieht das Zimmer abgewohnt und ungepflegt aus. Der Balkon hat noch nie eine Reinigung gesehen, die Möbel sind fleckig und lösen sich auf. Insgesamt ein Zimmer einer Jugendherberge als ein Zimmer in einem 4 Sterne Hotel. Frage mich, wer diesem Laden die Sterne gegeben hat. Können die sich nur selbst aufgeklebt haben. Zimmertausch nicht möglich, da angeblich nichts frei. Das Personal war über meine Beschwerde nicht überrascht, also gehe ich davon aus, dass das Problem bekannt ist, aber schlichtweg ignoriert wird. Denn der Standort des Hotels ist wirklich gut. Direkt am Strand. Ist anscheinend immer noch gut genug gebucht, da muss man dann nicht daran arbeiten, dass die Gäste sich wohlfühlen. Kommen ja genug die man dann betrügen kann. Zusätzlich befindet sich die Wäscherei ganz in der Nähe des Zimmers und selbst wenn man den ekelhaften Geruch ausblenden könnte kann man nicht schlafen, weil die Waschmaschinen die ganze Nacht laufen. In sämtlichen Lampen und an den Wänden sind Spinnengeweben und das Badezimmer ist absolut nur zweckmäßig statt einem guten Hotel entsprechend. Das war das schlechteste Hotel was ich in meinem ganzen Leben besucht habe. Wir sind nach einer statt nach den 2 gebuchten Nächten gefahren

Das Hotel ist modern eingerichtet, das Personal ist mehrsprachig und immer sehr freundlich. Parken kann man kostenlos direkt beim Hotel. Das Frühstücksbuffet war im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels überschaubar aber trotzdem ist für jeden etwas dabei.

Udsigten fra balkonen virkelig fin - og området helt i top! Gode lade- og parkeringsmuligheder.
Vi havde booket (og betalt ekstra) for superiorværelse med køleskab og kaffemaskine. Køleskabet virkede ikke og receptionisten mente ikke man kunne gøre noget ved det: men vi kunne få opbevaret ting på køl i receptionen. Efter lang snak, fik vi dog et andet værelse. Her virkede kaffemaskinen så ikke. Ærgerligt, når man betaler for “lidt ekstra” og ikke føler man får det.

Lidt små TV og meget lydt mellem værelserne.

War mal 4 jetzt eher 2 Sterne Hotel

Parkplatz ist vorhanden und hab immer einen gefunden. Der Check in war super schnell und unkompliziert. Alle Angestellten sind sehr freundlich. Die bar sieht sehr angenehm aus und auch das Essen war super. Die Bedienung war leider nicht so motiviert, ich habe über 10 Minuten auf mein Getränk gewartet ( jedes mal). Die Türen der Zimmer sind sehr abgenützt, es wirkt alles altbacken und man merkt, dass schon lange nichts mehr investiert wurde. Das Badezimmer ist rudimentär ausgestattet. Die Dusche war in einem schrecklichen Zustand, Fugen war verschimmelt und viele Teile der Dusche verrostet und nicht vollständig. Tücher waren extrem abgenützt. Die Lage ist Super mit Blick auf den Strand.

Locatie van het hotel was top, met een goed restaurant .
Vriendelijk ontvangst door het personeel.
De kamer was ruim maar kan wel een opfrisbeurt gebruiken. (Schilderwerk, gordijnen etc.)
Onze kamer grensde aan een bouwplaats, maar gelukkig verbleven wij in het weekend dus er waren geen werkzaamheden .
Dit hotel is zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Wir sind leider trotz unserer 3 Nächte-Aufenthalt inkl. Frühstück bereits nach einer Nacht wieder abgereist. Wir konnten die ganze Nacht nicht schlafen, weil es keine Klimaanlage gab und wir die ganze Nacht trotz Fensteröffnung geschwitzt haben. Es war gefühlt kaum Sauerstoff in diesem Zimmer - schlecht gelüftet. Wir würden trotz der schönen Lage und des freundlichen Personals leider nicht wiederkommen.

Hotelkamers zeezicht is heel mooi, kamers gedateerd, maar prima schoon. Openingstijden hotelbar matig, als je op zaterdag in hoogseizoen bar al om 22.00u sluit.
Parkeerplaatsen auto is prima, Hotel is niet te bereiken met OV. Je moet eerst 45min lopen tot eerste bushalte ( bij Jumbo) in Makkum. Misschien handig als service hotel kleine pendelbus van hotel naar Makkum.

Hotel liegt direkt am Strand. Man kann dort super im Wintergarten mit Blick aufs Ijsselmeer sitzen und schön entspannen. Haben dort nur was getrunken. Zimmer groß und sauber, leider zur Parkplatz Seite. Personal ist nett.

Een tegenvaller voor deze prijs 3 kamers geboekt en voor de “ luxere” kamer gekozen .. veel achterstallig onderhoud geen 4 sterren waardig dunne handdoeken van 1 kamer ging de schuifpui niet open ( bloedheet op alle 3 de kamers ) scheur in een van de wasbakken schoonmaak kan beter .
Het restaurant ziet er mooi uit ( ook schoonmaak kan daar beter ) prima ontbijt maar niet al het personeel is vriendelijk en spreekt niet allemaal Nederlands ..
nog best wat verbeterpunten nodig !

De locatie van dit hotel is echt geweldig, zo aan de boulevard van het ijsselmeer. De kamer daarentegen was minder. We hadden een familiekamer, met landzicht geboekt. Dat bleek te betekenen: kamer met uitzicht over de parkeerplaats, met het balkon recht boven de ingang en waar de motorrijders hun motor parkeerden, of nog lang stonden na te praten. Het laat zich raden hoe dat gaat. Ook het gebrek aan ventilatie was jammer. Zelfs toen de nachten rond de 16 graden werd, kwam de temperatuur in de hotelkamer niet onder de 25 graden. We hebben de schuifpui open gezet maar dat hielp niet. We hadden alleen 1 tafelventilator waar we het mee moesten doen Toen we vanwege de warmte beneden in het hotel een drankje wilden doen, werden we weggestuurd. De hotelbar was tot 22 uur open. (Zaterdagavond he?) We hebben 4 blikjes drinken bij de receptie moeten kopen, 17 euro. Niet normaal. We hebben na de eerste nacht aangegeven dat we niet blij waren met de overlast en de locatie. Maar daar werd schouderophalend op gereageerd. Het ontbijtbuffet was de volgende ochtend prima. Het restaurant het strandhuis is overdag ook goed om te lunchen en wat te drinken. De dame die daar overdag rondloopt weet wat gartvrijheid is. De jongeren s avonds en in het hotel zelf kunnen daar nog wat van leren. Dus het was dubbel. Van sommige dingen echt genoten, maar de kamer was ondanks door de ligging en hitte een dikke tegenvaller. Net als openingstijden.

Freundliches Personal aber für 4 Sterne sind zu viele Spinnenweben auf den Balkonen, klemmt die Flurtür im zweiten Stock zu stark, fließt das Wasser der Dusche nicht ab (Neigung der Fliesen falsch) und es fehlt eine Klimaanlage ODER Fliegengitter. Preis Leistung war OK, da im Januar günstig gebucht!

Wir waren von dem Hotel enttäuscht, da die Zimmer weder über eine Klimaanlage, noch am Fenster über einen Fliegen-/Mückenschutz verfügten. Aufgrund der vielen Fliegen und Mücken war es sehr schwierig ordentlich zu lüften um die Temperatur im Zimmer zu senken.

Auch die Parksituation am Hotel war unbefriedigend. Das Hotel verfügt zwar über einen eigenen Parkplatz und hat dort ein Schild aufgestellt, dass der Parkplatz nur für Gäste ist. Da das Hotel am Strand liegt und die Parksituation dort auch für Tagesgäste schwierig ist, wird das Schild ignoriert und es gibt auch für Hotelgäste nicht genügend Parkplätze. Hier sollte das Hotel konsequenter vorgehen. Ein weiteres Problem für uns: Auf dem Hotelparklatz gibt es zwar 8 Ladesälen für E-Autos. Auch diese wurden rücksichtslos von Verbrenner-Autos zugeparkt und wir mussten daher zum Laden unseres E-Autos immer in den Nachbarort fahren.

De omgevingen van het Hotel was perfect. Het hotel opzicht was minder het is zeker geen 4 sterren hotel. Badkamer was wat verouderd en jammer dat er geen koelkastje op de kamer was wel een kastje waar hij in kon.
In het naast het hotel strandbar Thuishaven kun je heerlijk eten .

Un hôtel ne méritant absolument pas ses 4 étoiles
Les chambres sont grandes mais nécessitent d’être refaites complète. Salle de bain vieillotte sans produits d’accueil hormis un savon microscopique. Si on parle de microscopique, je peux également évoquer la taille ridicule de l’écran TV dont la réception satellite est erratique . Nous avions séjourné dans cet hôtel il a 7 ans. Aucun travaux ne semblent avoir été fait depuis tout ce temps
Tout juste un 3 étoiles… le fait qu’il soit le seul hôtel sur la plage explique peut être cet état de fait

Superieur kamer, lekker groot, aparte zithoek met 2e tv, goede bank en fijn groot bed , als de spinnewebben aan het plafond nou ook weg waren was het uitstekend. Meubilair was wat beschadigd, badkamer ptima, fijne douche.

Op zich prima hotel. De receptionistes waren aardig en het restaurant was heel goed. Eten tegen een redelijke prijs en goed eetbaar. De kamer was heer ruim maar outdated. Er zat een groot gat in de vloerbedekking. Het bed was aan de onderkant versleten.

Good service, rooms average (dirty carpets). We changed rooms because of a strange smell. The reception acted right away, without discussion, and give us another room.

Weekend weg en ontvluchten van de carnaval. Hier was het goed vertoeven in de lounge en avondeten en ontbijt waren top geregeld. Badkamer is wat verouderd, maar bruikbaar en netjes. Kamer algemeen was heel netjes.
