I have stayed here many times in the past. We often stay closer to Alcala if we are traveling with people who want to shop and do sight seeing activities every day. But for a relaxing, stress free time in Oaxaca there is nothing like being a little separated from the bustling downtown, elevated above the city with panoramic views, a great bar, restaurant, room and pool service, and easy parking.

I loved my 5 night stay at the Hotel Victoria. Staff was lovely, responsive and helpful. The rooms were cleaned daily. The old world charm and the grounds were wonderful. The pool is big and beautiful and chilly at this time of year but swimmable on gorgeous grounds.

We had a great stay at this hotel. The view from our room overlooking the city was incredible and definitely one of the highlights of our visit.

What makes this tell my favorite are two things: one is the beautiful outdoor large swimming pool; and the other is the great view and the peaceful setting and it's only a 15 to 20 minute walk down into the center. Thursday through Saturday nights they also have live music at the bar which also has a great view.

Room had a clogged and dirty shower head so we asked ti be changed. Carpet quite dirty and old. Restaurant and bell boys have great attitude and helpful. The reception service is awful!! Pool was freezing. I will seek other options if visiting Oaxaca.

The grounds and pool area were well maintained, the room was spotless, the food in the restaurant was excellent, and all the staff were so friendly and attentive. Parking was near the room, pool was cold for my own taste but that would depend on the time of the year you go, I went in January so it was to be expected.
Traveling near the zocalo was very easy.
There is no shops near by since the hotel is on a hillside so get your stuff before you get there. Overall I love the hotel and I would stay there again.

I think the Hotel Victoria is a grand older hotel that needs a facelift such as new carpeting. The staff are fantastic and the property has a beautiful pool and view. Their food could definitely be improved. Their room service food was better than the restaurant.

The room was very spacious and the location is less busy than what you would get downtown, but heavily dated. AC won't work and several hazards around the rooms such as nails coming out of the ground or walls. Views are great but rooms are priced similar to higher end hotels in downtown.

If I had qualified based on the treatment during check-in only, my first impression was very bad because they told me if I had booked directly instead of using the platform, we would have been able to give rate options. Later, during the stay the experience was excellent treatment in the restaurant, high quality fpod, spacious room and quiet atmosphere, it made us feel comfortable. The hotel has a convenient location, walk distance to Oaxsca center, and private bus transportation.

I enjoyed my stay staff was super friendly and very helpful. A few downfalls are not close shops or food. Restaurant onsite is pricey but great service. They have a shuttle to town but only a few hour a day on certain days. Taxis are available but gets costly and limit 4 per cab so family if 5 needs 2 cabs. I woul stay here again. Pool is nice but only 9 lounge chairs.

Our main concern was that the water was dripping directly onto an electrical outlet, which we felt was a serious safety hazard. We took videos each time it leaked as evidence, in case any damage occurred. Overall, our experience was frustrating, stressful, and disappointing. We lost sleep for multiple nights, were exposed to a potential electrical hazard, and had to repeatedly chase after staff for help that never came — until the very last night.

It was a gorgeous hotel. It’s definitely older, but it has amazing views and architecture that make you feel like you’re in a location that has been paradise for lots of people before. The staff were so friendly and helpful for anything we needed, like calling taxis. They also went the extra mile to help me locate an item I left in the room. This hotel is a paradise few minutes away from busy Oaxaca Center. We had the best of both worlds. It is an old hotel (well maintained) therefore, rooms are VERY quiet and spacious with a wide view of the city and mountains. The gardens are gorgeous. All members of the staff were friendly and making sure everything was perfect during our stay. The restaurant has a wonderful breakfast buffet. Delicious. We did not look for other options. The hotel has taxi service and a also an evening shuttle to the downtown area. We drove. It was a 5 mins or less drive to the downtown area. We are hoping to go back soon.

We stayed for 3 nights, NO INTERNET the entire stay, this was an inconceivable to us since both my husband and I work remotely. The staff did not seemed to care you needed access to the internet. We asked if there was somewhere we could go and use internet nearby and they said they did not know of any. We had to wait exactly until 3pm to check in(which is fine), but restroom was dirty (shower had dirt inside), small spiders crawling outside the shower, hotel needs updating. Would not recommend!

Outside is well maintained but the interior of the building need major remodeling. The building is old and i don't think the building been remodeled ever since it was made. But it's clean and the staffing are excellent.

Hotel Victoria is off to the corner. It is a very big property and it has a lot to offer on site but there is nothing really near it. However, downtown is about a simple walk but it's about 20 minutes. Everything is in downtown. But if you want something quick like a convenience store or a quick eat there are no options nearby.

The price is right when you stay here - you do not feel like you are in the middle of the city. The views of the city are amazing! Some updates are needed - the rug in the room was patched and the amazing huge pool has many tiles that need to be replaced.

Keep in mind that this review is based on a pretty economically friendly room between $50-$75 a night. The place was huge, so there is a wide variety of how nice the room can be. Our room was just right for the two of us as we didn’t spend a lot of time in there mainly just to sleep and store our stuff. However, the view that we got was amazing, but that was really sheer luck as some of them were not as good.
Overall, the stay was really nice. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Nothing here is super fancy and you can see the wear and tear but the staff are super friendly and it feels like Mexico. The restaurant had just OK food nothing great same with the drink but was highly convenient and the view from the upstairs bar was breathtaking.
DO NOT DO LAUNDRY HERE!! They sneakily charged me 1400 pesos for one single load of laundry even though I asked them what the charges would be. Literally more than an entire night at the hotel... Really ruined the good feel about them and is the only reason I wouldn’t return. You can do it down the street for 20 pesos.

I think what I’d say is that this is a good affordable place that isn’t directly in the city center, but close enough that you can walk or take a taxi for five dollars. Besides the one laundry altercation everything about the day was really nice.

The hotel is very dated. The beds were very comfortable, but the bathroom was old and needed attention. It did the job, but wasn’t particularly pleasant to be in. No fridge in the room to keep water cold.
The staff were friendly, breakfast was ok, but I didn’t need crickets in my omelette! But when in Mexico and all that!
The grounds were spotless and the pool was lovely. A great bonus after a day in the city. You need transport or taxis to get in and out if the town. I the evening they do have a free bus to take you into the town.
