A case of switch and bait. Drifting sands showed pictures of panorama oceanfront view balcony. However hotel is not beachfront and actual view is of 2 story adjacent buildings. Then staff says if you pay $281 extra, we will move u 2 their second property-ocean house-on the beach that shows the exact panoramic views u originally booked. No elevator -although advertised w/elevator. Inflated resort fees for a towel and self serve drag your own chair-no umbrella. Staff is nice, quiet, beware if you want a view. Beach is not handicapped accessible b/c of man made dune hills makes walking a challenge.

The kitchenette was kinda whack, lights in the room feel really industrial, other than that it was calm. There was a fly stuck in our toilet bowl when we got there and it proved difficult to get out. Nice beach view but definitely get above the first floor or you’ll be stuck looking at just send and the sky.

I really liked this hotel. I had the ocean front panoramic room on the third floor. It was really nice. Room was a good size, king bed was super comfortable, good lighting, new floor, pretty big photo pictures, private balcony, nice “kitchen”area, plenty of storage for clothes. View was so pretty. Fun to watch the fishermen and surfers. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back.

I've stayed here twice during the off season for local events. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is friendly. There is ample free parking on site and an elevator (in the building I stayed at, not sure about the other buildings). I would stay here again.

The property was extremely outdated and clearly in desperate need of renovation and overall modernization. While the staff was friendly and courteous throughout our stay, their kindness unfortunately could not make up for the poor condition of the hotel itself.

The air conditioning in our room barely functioned and never cooled the room properly, even with the fan running continuously, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. The bathroom was also unacceptable from a cleanliness standpoint, with visible urine stains on the walls and a general lack of deep cleaning and upkeep. To make matters worse, the shower curtain completely fell down while my wife was showering, which only added to an already frustrating and unpleasant experience.

The towels and pillows provided felt extremely low quality and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get any real rest. Noise was another major issue, the walls and ceilings seemed paper thin, and you could hear virtually everything happening around the hotel at all hours.

Overall, this was easily one of the worst hotel stays I’ve experienced in a long time. The only real positive was the convenient location, but unfortunately it was nowhere near enough to outweigh the many issues with the property itself.

Clean room well kept . Cold upon arrival but heat worked great. Beautiful view of the ocean even while laying in bed. No elevator doesnt bother me but just know that if you're planning on staying on the 3rd floor. Just stayed one night so not much more to include. Definitely would stay again.

Hotel is a bit dated but if you get a room that faces the ocean the views are worth every penny! Could be difficult for those with mobility issues since there was no elevator in the section that we stayed in. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! Clean lobby and lots of parking. I received two key cards for Room 139; however, neither card worked when I initially attempted to enter. I returned to the front desk, where the staff reprogrammed the keys. After receiving the updated key cards, I went back to Room 139 and was able to open the door.

Unfortunately, this led to a very uncomfortable and inappropriate situation, as the room was already occupied by another guest. Walking into an occupied room is a serious lapse in basic hotel procedures and raises concerns about both guest privacy and safety.

While I understand that mistakes can happen, this experience was extremely unsettling and has left a negative impression. Due to this incident, I will most likely not be returning in the future.

Good location, immediate beach access plenty of parking but no complimentary water in the lobby mini fridge. Also, they charge fee fees for chair, chairs, and towels, and beach badges even though it’s off-season. They should should either not charge or allow a credit for the sundries in the lobby. There’s also a weird clanking noise from what we thought was the air vent on the building. It was really annoying all night long kept us up.

Fantastic beach view! I loved waking up to the sunrise and the sound of the waves! Only thing I have to mention is how even when the heat thermostat was turned all the way down, it was still too hot, and I went late March so we couldnt quite turn on the AC. Besides that, amazing!

The room is not very luxurious, but that is okay because it explodes with shore charm. The oceanside views are spectacular, and there are comfy wooden adirondack chairs to drink your coffee in the a.m. The staff was so lovely, there is a water filling station, and there are beach chairs to use. All in all, a fabulous stay!

Don't stay here if you don't like smell of mold or care about the cleanliness of a room. This room smelled so bad like mold that it hit us in the face when we opened the door. The furniture was dusty and sandy. Carpets were gross and microwave door had what looked like spaghetti sauce on it. Very outdated. The hotel owner was not receptive to our phone call the following day. We decided not to stay the night. Left after our affair. Very disappointed. Buyer beware.

We had a nice ocean front right on the beach room with a balcony. It was on the third floor. There was no elevator. The rooms are old and could use a thorough makeover. The sliding glass doors on the shower were inoperable. The first room we were in had no waste basket. Also, the first room was next to a barking dog. The staff easily and conveniently moved this to the third floor, where they do not allow dogs. The beds were comfortable, and the linen was nice. there are two other buildings in the complex with partial ocean view and no ocean view. Regardless of all the deficiencies the ocean front room was as advertised and would probably stay here again.

We were in the ocean spray building and were thrilled that the balconies all angle towards the beach so we were able to see the beach from our room. On the unfortunate side, it was during a tropical storm the weekend of kite fest 2025 so we ended up leaving Sunday morning instead of staying till Monday. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were very clean and large. I will definitely be staying there again

We love visiting Drifting Sands! Simple no-frills, affordable accommodations … with an outstanding location to beach! Totally worth paying extra for 2nd or 3rd floor Ocean Front with Balcony (note though, those floors in ocean front building are “walk up” accessibilty only (unless I missed elevator; make sure you ask if concerns about that) Beautiful views, feels like being on the beach without getting your feet sandy. Staff is nice, accommodating and efficient.

We got a room in the side building. Our balcony looks out to the beach from the side, which was good. We twice had to ask for clean washcloths and didn’t get any housekeeping on one of the days. Water pressure is light so the outdoor shower was weak. The jacuzzi shower had the wrong shower curtain so there was always water on the floor. Overall, was a nice place but not a 5 star establishment

Stayed many times. This time when booking i even called to confirm the room was end unit. Also sent email but no respinse. When arrived wasnt end unit. Everyday smell of marijuana in stairwell, told front desk. Guests next to us had a young child making alot of noise in early am for 3 hours running up n down outside hall and room had to bang on wall several times. Told front desk. Key card did not work 2nd day had to get 3 new key cards. Did not give us extra toilet paper. No clean towels til 2nd day. Not sure why were paying daily resort fees after laborday. Beaches are free. No beach towels supplied. We brought our own and our own chairs. Why pay for parking pass when the hotel has their own lot. Doesnt make any sense.

If you book an oceanfront room, you can enjoy the waves from the balcony or even from inside your room - perfect if the weather isn't ideal for hanging out on the beach.

I was disappointed to find my hotel room dirty upon arrival, which was not what I expected. However, I appreciate that customer service responded quickly and addressed the issue right away. We stayed in the Oceanfront building on the third floor. Each room in this building has an ocean front balcony from which you could throw a stone and reach the beach. The view from our room was stunning. We awoke to a sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean every morning. What more could you want from a Jersey shore vacation. They also supply beach chairs, towels and beach passes. We will definitely be back.

The only complaint was that it smelled very musty but hey we’re at the beach and that’s to be expected. Only suggestion would be to remove the old carpeting… was the source of mildew odor I think. Otherwise we will definitely be back next summer! Love LBI and staying at the Drifting Sands is awesome right on the beach!

Our family has stayed at Drifting Sands three times, including this visit. While the beachfront and lobby areas are acceptable, our room at the end of the property was disappointing—smelling of mold, with damp sheets, broken faucet, poor water pressure, and no ventilation. When we asked to switch rooms, only one was available, which was unacceptable. Outdoor showers were out of order, and the only working one was uncomfortable due to privacy concerns. We checked out early, requesting a refund, but were refused. This experience has been a major disappointment, and the lack of response from management suggests poor service. We will not return or recommend this hotel.
