Family trip for a few days to travel around the area and Dolomites. Great stay location wise, the hotel were great at providing us with local information (e.g. free travel on buses, trains and cable cars) - they were great. The pool is a great size for a splash after a busy day.

Very nice and clean place. Well maintained. Expensive for what you get. No coffee machine or refrigerator in the room. For coffee you need to pay for a very expensive buffet ($22) or drive to the next town. Virtually no soap in the room. Need to press the dispenser a lot to get any soap. Owner was untruthful with me about dinner. Told me the only option was a four course meal also expensive but very tasty. After I received my meal I started seeing other diners (locals) getting different dishes than I was offered. My meal was really good but I would not have opted for the $30 dinner. Beautiful hike and bike trail walking distance from the hotel.

Super place for any visit

Andreas and his wife are excellent hosts. Caring, passionate and dedicated. Ready to help with any issue. The entire place has a \"home\" feel to it, the atmosphere is super friendly, the rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. Excellent food and drinks. Highly recommend!

What a great find. Nice quiet hotel with a pool in amongst the apple orchards in the valley. The host and his wife were fantastic and very accommodating. Great food at the hotel and also a nice pizza restaurant a few min walk away. Would definitely recommend and will surely stay there again

Brilliant service by the pool, the bar and breakfast. The pool was a welcome refreshment after a week of hiking across the alps and the hotel staff were amazing. Breakfast was full of local delicacies and the coffee was servced individually, which was great after a week of filter coffee in Germany/Austria.

Nice little hotel!

This is a nice little hotel. I had a large room, the decor was a bit outdated, but it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Plenty of TV Stations. Staff was very nice and courteous and breakfast was very tasty. I would definitely stay there again!

It's really a 6 score across the board. :D

Two things make the Hotel Sparerhof: staff and location. Honestly, they are the nicest family and go out of their way to recommend things and make your stay comfortable. This is 10' from Merano, without the Merano prices and parking madness. Wine country is also about 10' the other direction. It's ideal and you should go! :)

A real gem would reccomend for work or leisure +++

We found this hotel to be friendly, comfortable and a welcome change from the bigger chain hotels we normally stay in on business trips. It is very conveniently situated for Bolzano and you can be there in 5-10 mins by car but I believe there are other transport links (train/bus). The food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced and I believe there are other restaurants nearby. The rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable. The staff speak perfect English and are willing to help with any queries you have. The surrounding area is stunning and I will be returning for a holiday next year. There is also a lovely swimming pool and bikes free to use. The best Cappuccino I had on my trip!

A beautiful little hotel nestled in a rustic Alpine town. Charming lobby, bar and restaurant. Gracious friendly staff...family owned and operated. Provided us with very courteous service with personal attention and help with tourist information and restaurants. Amazing hotel with superb hosts

The hotel owners were friendly, smart, and fun. They are perfectly suited to this calling! The swimming pool was refreshing, they let me use the computer when my smartphone wasn't working, and the room itself was comfortable. What was most memorable was the style of the outdoor patio where we had dinner--a pergola, flowers everywhere, and a fine meal with excellent wines that were produced locally. The dining room where we had breakfast was sophisticated--the pictures on the wall, the curtains, the furniture--all very classy and the breakfast buffet had many delicious things to choose from. It was a totally wonderful experience.

Don't miss a chat at the bar with Andreas!

We stayed at Hotel Sparerhof for few nights and loved the place. The hotel has character and the people are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is good and the free bikes were really cool, quite a few bike paths in the area.
The location is good, 5 min walk from the train station and lovely surroundings.

Going the extra mile service

We stayed at the Hotel Sparerhof for two nights on our way to North East Italy from France. The hotel is in a convenient location in between Merano and Bolzano and great as a base for exploring the surrounding area. Andreas was a truly excellent host and went out of his way to book us a tour of the local winery (Cantina Terlano - highly recommended!) driving us there and back. We ended up eating here on both nights as the food is truly excellent - don't bother eating outside of the hotel! There is a lovely pool outside as well. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Thank you again to Andreas and his family for a memorable stay.

Memorable stay

Great hospitality. Family owned and run hotel. Attention to detail was second to none. Restaurant offered great food, try the menu of the day. Lots of different areas to sit. One of us needed to see a doctor and Andre had this organised within a couple of hours, onsite visit, and then drove us to terlano to the chemist. You don't get that kind of service at many places. Bikes were available for us to use and were in very good condition. This area has a mild climate but we struck a very hot week.... 35 degrees for several days. It would have been good had there been a fan in the room. Would recommend this hotel to those who want to be out of the busy towns or cities. Access by train and bus was easy. Having stayed in nearly 20 three and four star hotels over the course of six weeks, this place ranks amongst the best.

Comfortable Family Run Hotel

We found the Hotel Sparerhof a very comfortable hotel. The owner, his wife, his father and staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly. When I needed help in bringing in our heavy luggage they insisted that one of there staff do it. The room was bright, airy, clean and large. The breakfast buffet was expansive and delicious. Location was close to the Dolomites and in the apply orchards. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Sparer family offered a friendly environment with personal attention. It was a pleasure to stay here and have a fine, relaxing meal following a day of hiking and sight seeing. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when we return to this area, which we will.

A treasure in the Tyrol

The Sparerhof has several outstanding features. Foremost amongst these is the high level of personal service offered by the hosts Andreas and Gabi and Andreas' lovely parents. The cuisine is exceptional. The evening meal was stunning and breakfast was a delight. There is an excellent bar, a lovely pool area and plenty of shady nooks. So why is this a 3 star property? There can only be two reasons. The hotel is located in a pretty, South Tyrolean village so there are no town attractions on the doorstep. Proximity to the highway and a train station make it ideal for the business traveller. The tourist can enjoy the delights of Bolzano and Merlano as well as the spectacular mountain scenery. The rooms are small but adequate. They do, however, lack the refinements required of the higher rating. Install ceiling fans, Andreas, and I will give you an extra star. We had a great stay and will try to find a way to steal a weekend for the winter markets.

Just off the autoroute, the alps on your doorstep, this is a great staging point for exploring the area, it even has a lovely wee smimming pool. Whats not to like?

This hotel is as-advertised; clean and worth it. It's about 10 minutes from Bolzano and tonly 1 minute away from freeway. They speak English, Italian and German there. There's ample dining in the area and a grocery store only 1 min walk away. Only negative is the beds are very firm. Overall a good deal.

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here as there was nowhere available in Bolzano, and I'm glad we did.

we had a wonderful warm welcome and shown all the hotels excellent facilities. Following a quick bite to eat, prepared by the owner we went for a short walk up to a beautiful waterfall to stretch our legs, although the hotel would also have lent us bikes if we wanted. The view from our room was incredible and the room itself was very comfortable.

The proprietors were extremely hospitable and even brought out a complete breakfast for us from the kitchens after we got up too late in the morning, which I greatly appreciated. They also gave us a free beer in the evening!

This was a lovely stay in a very nice spot and I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

I picked this hotel largely because of the glowing reviews that it got on this website, and they weren't wrong. The hotel is bright, clean, and lovely, with a charming little restaurant, bar, garden, and pool, in a quiet town just off the train halfway between Bolzano and Merano. The real high point, though, is the staff. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I concur with all of the other good things that people have said. This one is worth the little trip off of the beaten path.

A memorable vacation

We loved our stay at Sparerhof! We stayed for two nights, and despite our intentions of testing some local restaurants, we ended up eating at the hotel both nights, and the meals were excellent! The pasta is fresh and made in the house, superb vegetables and meats and fish, and a true espresso coffee...what else do you need?
The room was at the second floor, very large with plenty of space in the wardrobe to accommodate a longer stay as well. The bathroom was spotless clean and very large too. The windows opened to the most breathtaking panorama of the mountains...just what you want to see when you get up :)
The hosts were so very helpful and kind, not to mention very entertaining - it helped that they are all multilingual there, so we could switch all the time between Italian, English and German.
If we are going back to the Stelvio Pass (what a road!) this is the hotel we're going to stay again!

Hotel Sparerhof Via Nalles, 2, Vilpiano :(

When originally booking this flight, me, my wife, and son were returning from Venice going back to Germany, when my wife thought it'd be really nice to stay overnight and have breakfast with the beautiful mountains and apple orchards, and it was. It was everything we imagined it but the staff ruined it.

Although we notified them ahead of time, they gave away our infant bed.

we werent allowed to eat breakfast on the patio

2 minutes past checkout and the gentlemen called and was very persistent that we leave immediately because they dont want to pay the cleaning staff more money.

Our stop in this area was most enjoyable made more so by the hotel owners and staff. This property is easily accessible from the train and also offers bicycles which was a fantastic treat.
Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Two Apple computers in the lobby are a nice convenience for looking up area information.
We were provided great recommendations touring about the area.

A fantastic little hotel just outside Bolzano. Peaceful and quiet. Perfect for visiting the town and surrounding mountains - by car or near-by train. Owner very cheerful and helpful, and multilingual. In the same building there is a comfy little bar for relaxing after a day of hiking or Ötzi-visiting. Do have your dinners here if you're staying in the area! We'd say it is worth visiting here just to eat! Absolutely marvelous food - and we are quite picky.... Our little girl is even more picky, but there were no problems in producing dishes that even she enjoyed thoroughly. Overall, very highly recommended - both hotel and restaurant. We will return, if our travels bring us to South Tyrol.

A place in the hills

I would rate this hotel at 4.5 if the system allowed it - in all the 4's I have listed above. The hills and mountains around the area are fantastic. Had a magnificent lunch in one of the villages up high. It was easy to find too. had a great pool, 3 lovely outdoor dining areas and a great breakfast. The dining rooms were well set up and the wine selection excellent. The food was good but selection for my needs was a bit limited since I can not eat fish.

An Experience to Enjoy

My wife and I visited Hotel Sparerhof on a one night stopover during our silver wedding anniversary motorcycle tour, and we were absolutely delighted with our experience.
Our Host, Andreas Sparer, is a real live-wire, making jokes and generally engaging with guests, he speaks 4 languages, his personal attention was most welcome, his staff were equally attentive.
He offered to lock our motorcycle away safely overnight, but to be fair, I don't think there would be any problem with leaving it in the car park with the keys is, it is such a lovely setting.
The room was impeccably clean, the only reason I haven't given the room 5 stars is because the pillows were not great, although we probably could have asked for more had we thought.
The food. Ah! The FOOD! Home made, using the local in season produce, was superbly cooked and presented, and at only 19 euro for a 4 course fixed menu, was also super value. The wine which we let the staff choose was also excellent.
I would have no hesitation in returning to Sparerhof, indeed, we met one of the hotels regulars, a very charming German lady who has been going there for over 40 years and loves it every time. Not many hotels have guests like that these days!

A VERY PLEASANT SURPRISE

We were going to visit Bolzano and were looking for a place to stay and ended up at Hotel Sparerhof because it had the best rate. When we arrived we were greated by Andre and from that moment on the mood was set. What a wonderful stay (albeit short) we had. Andre, his wife and his father made our stay so pleasant, they were very friendly and helpful. The view from the room was beautiful as was the location of the hotel. It was convinently located for our needs (we had a rental car).
My husband and I would have enjoyed staying longer but unfortunately we couldn't. Next time we'll plan better!

This is a family run hotel, comfortable and clean. Host speaks four languages. Breakfast well presented, varied and tasty. Decoration of hotel appealing - fresh, attractive furnishings. Location is in small village, about 20 minutes from Bolzano. Quiet location with good restaurant close by - hotel restaurant does not operate during winter. Not a good location if you are looking for city entertainment.

A great experience in Italy - Hotel Sparerhof

Hotel Sparerhof is a family-owned hotel located in a small town outside of Bolzano. If you don't necessarily want to stay in the middle of a large town, I highly suggest staying here. It has a great small-town feel and is located very near several restaurants and a grocery store. I enjoyed the fact that most people knew each other and the hotel was located in a quiet area. Views on all sides of the hotel are spectacular. All accommodations are well above what I expected and the staff couldn't be more friendly. My hotel room was spacious and very clean. I was able to easily drive to Bolzano, Merano, and a few towns in the mountains all within 15 minutes. WiFi and breakfast were included, which is more than what most hotels offer. Also, the hotel has it's own cafe and bar so you don't need to go \"out\" if you just want a drink. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Chilly when temps are cold but not freezing

Our room was colder than normal (around 60F). The owner would not provide heat unless the outside temperature hit 32F. This is not explained on the website. They would not provide a space heater, or refund for unused nights had we wanted to move to a hotel willing to provide heat. You should not have to confirm with the hotel when you book that heat will be included for your stay. This should be disclosed at the time the room is booked. Calls to the owner did not produce satisfaction. I cannot reccommend this hotel for spring or fall stays where the temperature may reach the low 40F's or upper 30F's. It would seem to me that if you are in the hospitality business, the comfort of all of your guests would be of paramount concern to you as an innkeeper. This was an egregious lack of hospitality, in my opinion. Otherwise, the hotel is clean, well kept, and conveniently located, and the owners are agreeable people, this one issue aside.
The free high speed wireless internet in the rooms works very well and is a big plus. Food is reasonable and well prepared.

While I cannot say that Vilpiano has much going for it, if you find yourself there this is definitely a nice little hotel with reasonable rates. The rooms are modern and clean. The staff is very friendly (and the proprietor has a great sense of humor). The meals available in the hotel are also a good value considering there isn't much else around.

Nice familie run place - great for hiking trips.

This is a good place with a great familie running it - fluent in english, german and italian. Located in Vilpiano this is a quiet place - but a good location for hiking trips around the area; you can get to the mountain 1.000 meters higher in less than 15 minutes with the nearby cable car.

Breakfast is extensive and good, and every evening there is a new 4 course menu you can select from; you can also get some custom (pasta) dishes if needed. Few selections - but quality is high and good.

I would recommend it to anyone in the Bolzano area, and would go back - great place to stop over for a few days if you are driving more south into italy.

Very Spacious Rooms, Very clean

We all enjoyed our stay at this hotel. the staff is very friendly, they speak great English, the bar offers inexpensive drinks, and the pool and outdoor lounging area is very very nice. I really enjoyed it. The only thing I was not too happy with was the restaurant menu, which was rather pricy for small portions. However about 800 meters down the road going towards Merano there is a pizzaria and bar that plays great music, also offers inexpensive drinks, and serves excellent and inexpensive foods.

Great eye for details

Once again such a great stay! Charming surroundings, the most accommodating host and wonderful food - they have such a great eye for details wether it be the right recommendation of wine, the idyllic decoration of the back yard or the hand written notes on the breakfast buffet. The morning swim in the pool surrounded by palms and apple trees with a view to the mountains doesn’t make it bad either :-) We really enjoyed Thais stop on our trip home from Toscana.

Super dejligt ophold! Værterne var enormt søde og gæstfrie. Vi kom allerede kl. 08.00 og selvom check ind først er kl. 14, sørgede de for at vi fik værelset med det samme. Vi følte os ikke til besvær selvom vi havde to mindre børn med, der fyldte lidt på det lille hotel. Den lille by var også rigtig hyggelig og vi fik både set vandfald, spist lækker italiensk pizza og købt lokal æblejuice. Alt i alt en skøn oplevelse.

Var forbi dette hotel med behov for bare en enkelt overnatning inden rejsedagen forsatte dagen efter - fandt det ved en hurtig og \"tilfældig\" søgning på Hotels.com - et super fint og hyggeligt hotel - fik en fantastisk velkomst og sikke en betjening - hotel ejeren stod selv for indtjekning og betjening i restaurant/bar - og hold da en en ejer - han havde tid og lyst til at snakke, lytte til vores og dele sine egne historier om og fra hverdagen.

Kommer vi forbi det område igen - på en ferierejse - så skal dette hotel besøges igen og så håber vi at Andreas stadig står i receptionen og restauranten/baren.

PS: 150 meter fra hotellet får man få \"verdens\" bedste pizza - også anbefalet af Andreas.

Angenehm und behaglich

Ein sauber und ordentlich geführtes Hotel mit ebenso gepflegtem Aussenbereich und Poolbereich. Wir fühlten uns bestens aufgehoben auch mit leckerem Frühstück. Ergänzend sei noch erwähnt, dass der Zugbahnhof und die Bushaltestelle fussläufig erreichbar ist.

zeer aangenaam en vriendelijk koppel dat altijd klaar staat om je te helpen. Ook als je op zoek bent naar een leuke activiteit doen ze goede voorstellen, geven je wat folders en geven tips betreffende de drukte van het verkeer.
hotelkamer prima in orde, netjes, evenals het sanitair.
ontbijt is uitgebreid. normaal gezien in buffetvorm, maar vanwege corona kan dat eventjes niet. de gastvrouw zorgt er echter voor dat het je aan niets ontbreekt.

Posizione ottima poiché a metà strada tra Bolzano e Merano, raggiungibili entrambe in 15 min. di auto! Hotel accogliente, caldo (anche troppo 😀) e pulito!..Unica nota dolente la moquette a pavimento che io personalmente odio!...Il titolare molto simpatico e disponibile!..Consigliato sicuramente per visitare il Trentino senza spendere un patrimonio per dormire!

Atendimento incrível, lugar maravilhoso!! Uma experiência que não tem preço! Fomos atendidos pelo dono do hotel que observou que era aniversário do meu amigo.. Exatamente a meia noite.. Estão conversando no no bar e fomos chamados com urgência e a surpresa era uma fatia de bolo e espumante com direito a parabéns 🎊. Isso não tem preço!

Viaggio di lavoro a Lana

Ho soggiornato due notti in questa struttura per una trasferta di lavoro e devo dire di essermi trovato davvero bene. Unico appunto è che in questi giorni a cavallo tra luglio e agosto fa molto caldo durante il giorno e la camera rimane calda anche alla sera. Tutto sarebbe stato perfetto se solo ci fosse stato un condizionatore d'aria in camera. In ogni caso ho dormito benissimo, poichè il materasso del letto era molto comodo e di notte la temperatura scende a valori gradevoli, per cui basta lasciare le finestre aperte per rinfrescare la camera durante le ore notturne. L'arredo non è modernissimo ma funzionale. Il bagno è nuovo e tutto funziona alla perfezione. Mi è piaciuta molto anche la colazione, a buffet e con prodotti di qualità, servita in una bella stanza tranquilla. Ultimo ma non ultimo per importanza, il personale è gentilissimo ed efficente.

Die Hotelchefin war super freundlich. Der Chef war freundlich aber hektisch veranlagt, hatte aus meiner Sicht zuviel Nebenjobs. Das Frühstück war ok. Das Abendessen aus der Sicht von meiner Frau und meiner eigener Beurteilung gut, jedoch überteuert.. 100 Meter entfernt gab es das Hotel Vilpianerhof mit einer super Speisekarte mit Preisen um ca 30 % weniger. Da im ganzen Hotel wenig Gäste eingebucht waren , glaube ich es gibt noch weitere Gäste, die dieses Hotel, so wie wir, nur einmal buchen.

Hotel non nuovissimo, ma molto curato e soprattutto pulito! Accoglienza dei proprietari e del personale di altissimo livello. Posizione ottima per i mercatini di Natale di Merano e Bolzano, ma non lontano anche da Vipiteno, Bressanone e Lago di Carezza.

Ich war nur eine Nacht hier. Team war sehr nett. Frühstück ausgezeichnet und sehr reichhaltig. Nur 15 min von Bozen entfernt. Schönes Hotel. Lage an Hauptstrasse ist kleiner Wermutstropfen
