Where to begin. My stay was in one of the rooms with an on suite bathroom, most of the rooms in this hotel have shared bathrooms just so you know.
The beds are extremely comfortable, the linens and pillows are exceptional. Everything is kept spotless daily. The hotel is small, but beautiful. There are sitting areas and flowers gardens to delight the eyes. Even one of the terraces you can have your meal on and way off in the distance you can see one of the volcanoes erupting erupting smoke while you enjoy your breakfast.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are buffet style and more vegetarian themed, but the one day we couldn’t be there for breakfast they supposedly had bacon.

Had a really pleasant stay here. The staff were very warm and welcoming and went out of their way to help us book onward travel. Stayed in the private room with en-suite bathroom and it was perfect for our needs. Quiet and peaceful at night, comfortable bed, nice hot shower. Ideal!

We really enjoyed our stay at yellow house. They helped us organise 2 tours during our stay and held our suitcases while we were at thee lake overnight. The breakfast was very tasty too! The rooms can get a little stuffy, but we kept the door open while we were there and the fan was great at night.

El único inconveniente fue que luego de hacer check out, dejé mensaje esa misma noche y llamé al siguiente día para solicitar del servicio de limpieza de cuarto, una buena camiseta de fútbol que dejé en la esquina de la cama, pero desapareció, o sea, me indicaron como que no estaba.
Estoy segurísimo que la dejé y en donde la dejé en el cuarto entre las frisas de la cama, pero nada que hacer. Tuve que comprarla de nuevo. Por lo demás...el lugar es conveniente.

Staff super friendly, nice view of volcano from upper patio area. The room was a bit small with the 3 beds, but it was no problem as the beds were comfortable. No parking on site, but a parking lot close by. You can walk around to the grocery stores and the Market but Central Park is a bit further. The taxis charge about $5 to take you to the park and the tuktuk drivers about half that but can only take you to within a block of the park. The free breakfast is great, eggs, fruit, beans, bread or tortillas and breakfast potatoes along with coffee or hot chocolate. Don't forget to leave a small tip for the servers! The area was quiet for the most part & the hostel is also a travel agency, so many excursions around Antigua and further can be purchased through them. We would definitely stay again!

We really liked the view from our door of the cathedral and the mountain. You could also sit and watch volcan Fuego erupt at night. I really miss waking up to that view. I wish that on two of the days of our stay we didn't miss breakfast, but we had schedule a tour and had to leave early on our last day.

This place was just okay for us, nothing special. The room was pretty tiny but had cute, minimal decor. Shared (cleaned) bathrooms located on the ground floor so makes it inconvient if you have to go in the middle of the night. Breakfast was the best part, staff was nice. We got discouraged when asking for a better rate as we were leaving at 5:30 a.m and wouldn't be having breakfast. They didn't negociate at all so we decided it wasn't worth it (too bad because we also ended up buying our transport tickets from somewhere else instead of here). Ended up finding a way better place for half the price so I guess it was a blessing in disguise for us.

We actually stayed here twice, before and after a trip to Lake Atitlan. The staff are amazing, so helpful. We booked all our shuttles with them and they had a lot of other tours offered. This place is constantly cleaned, even the bathrooms. The breakfast is huge and varied and you can eat on their roof terrace with a view of three volcanoes. The beds were comfortable and each room we stayed in had a fan and screens in the windows. The rooms on the roof seemed to be brighter and nicer compared to the first floor rooms. The bathrooms are on the first floor, but the stairs are lit at night.

This hostel has everything you need. The staff were the friendliest ever. Breakfast is excellent with fresh fruits, eggs, beans, pancakes, real coffee and hot chocolate. The room was small but very nicely decorated with a comfy bed and gorgeous views. They helped us with booking transfers from the airport and to Lake Atitlan. We would definitely stay here again.

We really liked the location which was very convent to explore Antigua. The staff were very personably. The had a great tour of the Alfombra's preceded by a workshop in which we worked with them to create an alfombra of our own. It was very fun and we all were made to feel like part of the family. The staff were also super helpful with booking tours and departure plans. The kitchen / cleaning staff were excellent. Our room was immaculate after we would return each day. The breakfast in the morning was super delicious.

yellow house is a great budget hostel in antigua, with well-decorated rooms, kind staff, a great terrace, and delicious breakfast! there was a bit of noise as we stayed in the room right across from the terrace, but it quieted down around midnight. the breakfast is fantastic, and the property was very clean! the only real unfortunate thing is that we had to cut our reservation short (travel plans forced to change) and hoped to move one of our paid nights to a slightly later date, but were unable & just lost that money. otherwise, a wonderful place.

Had a wonderful stay. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and can help with planning tours and transportation. It was great that they were able to help me by speaking English. The upstairs rooms are quiet and have a nice view of the mountains and town. The one I stayed in even had a television. The hostel is not a party hostel (which was great!), but there are drinks for sale and a nice cozy common area upstairs if you want to relax and chill out. The shared washrooms and hot showers were kept very clean and cleaned throughout the day. The entire hostel was actually kept very tidy and clean. The breakfast was really, really good (pancakes, fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, fruits, beans, etc.). Very happy with my stay.

I love Yellow House and have stayed here many times over the past few years. It is absolutely the cleanest place I have ever stayed. The bathrooms are cleaned several times daily. The floors are constantly being swept. Breakfast is great, but note that it ends at 9am. I highly recommend a room on the roof/terrace. I don’t recommend the dorm room, which is a bit crowded and can get loud.

My husband and I spent some time at the Yellow House Hostel, and I cannot recommend it enough. The staff at the front desk are so helpful with recommending things to do and booking tours for you. The cleaning ladies make a great breakfast every morning and keep the place very clean. I think they clean the shared bathrooms like 30 times each day. Everyone was very friendly and it is in a great location. You can walk from here to just about anywhere you want to go in Antigua.

We stayed here 3 nights in the \"orange tree room.\" I liked this room because it's at the end of the hall so people don't go back and forth in front of your room. The walls are thin however so be prepared to hear your neighbours a bit. Thankfully ours were quiet :) Bathrooms are shared but rarely seem to be full. Staff are very helpful. Breakfast is great. There is an open air lounge area with a couple hammocks and some comfortable chairs.

Very nice hotel, about 10 minutes walk to main square. Our room was on the second floor at the back and it was fairly quiet but rooms at the front would probably have been quite noisy. Very good hot shower, kept very clean - staff always seem to be cleaning. Nice breakfast included. Highly recommend.

We had a private volcano view room. The view as amazing. It had its own terrace area outside with a table and chairs to enjoy breakfast. The hot breakfast was great - freshly prepared omelettes with other hot items and coffee. The staff where helpful in arranging transfers and providing advise on what to do and see in the local area.

The staff, the laundry service, trek reservation, breakfast, cleanliness, perfecto. Things to improve: it’s called the Yellow House: please paint the outside Yellow so we can find it. Please light the stairs at night. No bano on top and going down at night is dangerous. More pillows in the community area. Those chairs are hard. Give the women the larger shower banos. We have makeup! Thanks for considering.

Pros: Very friendly staff who all speak English, extremely clean, delicious included breakfast every morning, close to all the major attractions & restaurants, hot water for showers, beautiful terrace.
Cons: I stayed in the dorm room which faced the main road, and while it's not a big deal for me, I feel it's worth mentioning that it can be very loud with people and cars going by frequently. Ear plugs are a must if you need quiet to sleep.

My first time in Guatemala and as we arrived to Antigua, we had the private room located on the top floor with our own little lounge area. Check in was smooth, Cecelia helped us plan an itinerary for the rest of our stay in Guatemala. Marisol helped arrange tours for us. Both were super helpful, sweet and great to talk to.

The room was nice, the hostel was at the edge of town, but nothing is too far in Antigua, you can walk from one end to the other very easily. The breakfast was freshly made. Unfortunately my room was across the corridor from the kitchen and laundry and I was woken up quite early in the morning.

We loved our stay here, the staff at Yellow House helped us organise a tour to Acatenango and Semuc Champey/Tidal, it was so well organised and all the accommodation and transport was perfect. A good budget choice and as described in many reviews. We found the double room with view to have a very comfortable bed although it is very small so you have to be organised with your stuff. Super clean everywhere. Nowhere to do your laundry yourself however but laundry services provided. Beware of the deals the staff organise as these are not always the cheapest option; we shaved Q100 off a quote for a taxi to Guate airport by shopping around. Respectful quiet clientele. Beautiful view of El Merced from outside our room and the bells wake you in the morning.

I recently stayed at Yellow House with my family for Semana Santa last week. This was my first time staying at a hostel and I wasn't sure what to expect but Yellow House was quite impressive. My family had 4 private rooms and the accommodations and service are a great value at this price point.

Excellent place to spend a night, very good value for money. Staff are friendly and booked transfers for us, they speak English. Be aware the rooms are small and bathrooms are shared- no problem for us as no queues and everyone very respectful of noise levels so got a great nights sleep.

Been there a few times, and it never disappoints. Their breakfast is EPIC. The rooms cozy (a bit small maybe if you have a lot of luggage). The view great. The common area very comfortable. The staff is incredibly nice. Bathrooms are constantly cleaned. The wifi is fast. Also, their rates for shuttles are cheaper than some that we've seen in other places. It may be slightly more expensive than the same hostels in the same category, but it's worth it!

I returned to Yellow House because I was so impressed with my last visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful with organising tours/activities. The whole hostel is spotless, especially the bathrooms which is a massive bonus. The breakfast is famous from Peten to Monterico:) only slight criticism is the lack of space and storage in the private rooms. Would definitely stay here again

We stayed in the hotel just one night and took an early morning shuttle to the airport. The rooms and shared bathrooms are very clean. However the rooms are not very well decorated and are of block construction giving the feel of being in a bunker. There is also a noise issue because the block construction, which is common in Guatemala, does not block external sounds and conversations and footsteps in other rooms are easily heard.

I'm not a fan of shared bathrooms and hostel type accommodation and have to say our private room was great. And the bathrooms except for one occasion were always remarkably clean! The grounds were washed even after they cleared away breakfast! The plants and comfy seating was great. The internet worked mostly and at times was slow to upload pictures. Bring your own towels otherwise you have to rent them! Shuttle prices and bottled water was competitive and they have free water if you have a container. There is hot water in the showers. Great place to chat with other travellers. Ended up with a great vegan breakfast as they had enough options which was much appreciated!

Keep in mind this is a hostel and not a hotel. Expect shared baths (but never a long wait for a shower and always hot water) and budget travelers. Staff was VERY helpful at the front desk. Great breakfast each day. Our room was small but we didn't spend a lot of time in it. Our room was toward the back and fairly quiet; I'm guessing those facing the street had quite a bit of traffic/pedestrian noise. It was a little further out from the main plaza but near lots of restaurants, shopping, and La Merced Cathedral and a short walk to anywhere. We never felt unsafe in the area.

The Yellow House is nice. Friendly guests, good breakfast, nice views, relaxed atmosphere. The room was small, but yet comfortable. The downside is no bathroom on the second floor so at night you have to navigate narrow steep stairs. The staff were helpful. There wasn't much in the room for storage or to unpack. Wouldn't stay too many nights. There are better places for the price with nice closets and private bathroom.

This was my second stay at Yellow House Hostel and I have just rebooked to stay again! Even though the bathrooms are shared they are kept spotlessly clean! And there's always a fresh clean towel to dry your hands. The top terrace is perfect for views of the mountains and Volcan Fuego and hanging out in a hammock. Breakfast is good and changes a little each day, although service can be a little slow if you have to catch an 8am shuttle. All the reception staff are very friendly and welcoming. They also have good knowledge of English. It's a great place for a quiet night's stay on 1a Calle with just a few mins walk into the center of Antigua.
