I stayed for 8th to 10th Jan 2024 electricity went off around 11pm on the 9th and the rooms were infested with mosquitoes. I remained awake all night using phone light to chase mosquitoes. I bathed using my phone light & moved out as early as 6:42am same time power was restored. I already started malaria medication and will never recommend this hotel

Overall, a comfortable stay with very friendly staff who were always willing to assist us during our stay however necessary. Security was good, and beds were comfortable. Clean accommodations. Could use some updating, but for something we needed to just lay our heads in until we went back out for more adventures, and for the price, well worth it.

Suggestion: as with any international travel, I suggest printing out or screenshotting your reservation, because sometimes it's not communicated directly with the hotel

Don’t go back to what you left behind.

The hotel is good with very courtesy staff. I could smell cigarette smoke in the room I was checked-in but the staff were polite in going about it. Outside this issue, I had a good experience and I would like to add that it is an expensive hotel, so I got very good deal booking with hotels.com.

I had stayed in this hotel in the past, but this time found out that standards have fallen, and services are so bad, but wifi was good, and also the room I stayed in had so much noise from the bar, the music was always so loud, was greatly disappointed.

Big Facility, Poor Maintenance

This is a huge investment but poorly maintained. Originally tastefully furnished and decorated but poor cleaning and maintenance, especially the toilets/bathrooms seem to be bringing down the hotel rating fast.
The hotel has relatively good relationship staff members but I'm not sure same can be said of the maintenance team.
Their Breakfast is rich and if well kept, it's a nice place to stay.

Having a good bit of expierience staying in hotels in Nigeria,I will complement the staff for a friendly and prompt service,Unfortunatly the rooms are in need of some tender love and care ,A lick of paint and the use of a hoover wouldn't go astray.
The wifi was functional but could do with up grading .

Good public areas and terrible rooms

This hotel has a posh name, marbled public areas but the rooms are rubbish. No maintenance of the facilities, very dirty bathrooms with toilet seat not fixed, they can't afford decent shower or shower curtains, towel racks are rusty, towels are dirty and smelly, the carpets are very dirty, the curtains obviously haven't been laundered for years. The staff are there to earn a living not to help customers. For the money I paid, the hotel is a fraud.

Doesn't meet my minimum expectation

The externals of the hotel was pleasing, but quite disappointed with my room. The carpet looked worn out. The bedsheet were well wornout -- thin, varying shades of white across the width of the bed. Curtains didn't look clean; one of the holding bars for the curtain was significantly tilted off horizontal axis. Bathroom fixtures show considerable rust. From a cleaniless perspective, didn't feel comfortable using most of the items in the room. Booked room for two nights, only stayed there for one night. Had trouble making wireless connection. On the plus side, the hotel staff members were very friendly and very eager to help (e.g. with wireless connection). Also, the free breakfast was quite good.

Rating this hotel on the web as 4 stars is misrepresentation. The ensuite wash room was not in 4 stars condition in my opinion. Towels looks disgusting, room service so unprofessional that the tea cup used instead of been replaced in the morning was taking and rinsed from ensuite was room and replaced there and then, never seen something like that before. No water boiler despite leaving satchel of coffee and milk on the table. Booked and paid for diplomatic suite but was given something less. When I complained, I was taking to another so called diplomatic suite to view but was actually worse than where I was.

The room at Hotel De Bently was modern, clean and attractive. The bed was especially comfortable. The room was quiet; the internet connection was unexpectedly fast for Nigerian standard. Good desk and closet space. Pretty good bathroom. Nice accommodation.

Home Away From Home

After a long search in Abuja we finally found this great hotel. The facilities are very comfortable and clean. The Exclusive bar on the first floor is a great place to relax after a long day of hustle and bustle in the city of Abuja. The staff was very helpful with arranging transportation. A superb Experience.

False Advertisement for Superior Room

This hotel is run down...everything needs to be replaced and/or remodeled. I think they will demolish it once they have constructed the new one. Do not bother with the gym...it's a tiny room with only one working machine. Very friendly staff however.

Good hotel at a reasonable rate

Overall, I liked Hotel de Bently. My one MAJOR complaint is that they did not coordinate my online booking. In other words, when I showed up (very late and tired after flying from US), they did not have my room reservation despite booking via expedia and getting confirmation. The staff made me leave a room deposit and said they would look into it, but from previous experience I did not trust this and had to insist on them returning my deposit once I showed them my online booking.

Otherwise, the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the staff was friendly. I would stay again but book directly with the hotel.

Overall, the room was clean and the breakfast and dinner selections were good. As well, the staff was available when needed. On the other hand, I was not impressed with the fact that when I arrived at the hotel to check in, they did not have a record of my reservation. It took about half an hour before they came back to take me to my room. Then they took me to the wrong type of room, which I pointed out to them. Upon arriving the correct type of room, the appearance was not appealing. The was water damage on the wall near the door to the room (on the inside of the room), plus the overall maintenance of the room and hotel as a whole was just sub par.

Staff was welcoming. Sink leaked almost fell twice in bathroom. One evening I used the roll of toilet paper and was told I had already received toilet paper. I began to complaint and a gentleman by the name of Moses came with more tissue paper and apologize for any misunderstanding.

The hotel staff were generally courteous and responsive to my needs. However, the quality of their beds and linens were poor to say the least. The mattresses in the rooms I tried were hard and not comfortable to sleep on. Also,they need to have pressing iron and table as a \"standard\"available in all their rooms to conform with international standards. Their Wifi connection also needs to be upgraded in terms of speed and user friendliness.

Bath was leaking, I asked for help, we waited over an hour for someone to start the yacuzzi, then it was leaking. Eventually we were moved to another room and the same problem occurred with water leaking all over the floor.

A good place for a business visit

The hotel is comfortable; the rooms are spacious and clean with air-conditioning that is effective. The internet service is the best I have seen in Nigeria. very very reliable. The service provided by the staff is of a high standard and well supervised. The hotel has a fine pool, patio with poolside facilities. There is a gym well equipped with weights, treadmills etc. The restaurant is of a good standard, although the menu could do with some occasional updating to give a wider range for those who stay here for long spells. Currently the hotel is undergoing some expansion and so there is some noise and dust from that during the day. However it is probably the nicest place to stay of all hotels in Abuja.

A welcoming hotel in a tranquil location

Found this hotel on Expedia and most of the reviews are right on. Staff was very helpful, not only with reservation but also with arranging car service for pickup at the airport. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, but a taxi stand is right outside the hotel, so that downtown and most other destinations in Abuja are a short taxi ride away. Highly recommended.

the room was ok, the sounding clean and beconing, oozing of class and the interio is also great has a certain class also. the only snack is the bathroom.they need renovating to complement the genaral class of the hotel. the staff are ok but a little on the slow lane.i had an issue with the room they gave me and when i asked to be given the room i paid for it took them longer than i expected for them to change the room.but they are nice generally.

Needs a some love to become great again

I discovered Hotel de Bently in desperation two years ago after abandoning two terrible hotels. Back then the hotel was a breath of fresh air , probably the only OK and reasonably priced hotel other than the hyper-priced Hilton. The Hotel de Bently was either quite new, or recently refurbished. It was clean, fresh, modern, with friendly, helpful staff.

I have been staying in the Hotel de Bently several times since June 2011, and it still has friendly, helpful staff, the rooms are clean. However, I have seen a steady deterioration in the bathrooms. During my visit last week, the bathroom was smelly, and there was no cold water in the bath taps. They sent in a plumber who fixed it quite quickly. Lack of proper maintenance is starting to show in equipment, like in the lifts, which were out of order for 2 days, and the air-conditioner in the restaurant was broken on the last day of my stay.
A new gripe I have is that previously Internet was free, but now you pay several times more than 3G data on a pre-paid SIM. That is a huge disappointment, which is why I'm only giving a 3 for \"value\" in my rating.

Bottom line is that this is probably still the best value for money in Abuja hotels, but the management must be careful that they don't allow this gem of a hotel go to pieces before needing a drastic rescue, as so often happens in Nigeria.

On my trip to Abuja, i stayed in the hotel bently. Very pleased with my stay at this hotel. Very spacious, clean, comfortable, modern and nicely decorated rooms. The food is really good and the service is first class. The hotel has a super management team which makes a point of being available to you for your every need, from getting you a phone card to advising on the best places for shopping... Being on a business trip, I also hugely benefited from the super high-speed internet offered through wifi. I will definitely be using the same hotel for my future trips here. Gets my vote!

One Of The Best Hotels In Abuja

I stayed in Hotel De Bently It is a very affordable Hotel for this part of the world . Staff was very friendly. WiFi internet works very well but for a fee. I asked why the charge for their Wifi. I was told 'if you need good internet service in Nigeria, you have to pay for it'. I think that is quite fair. Rooms are excellent. Very clean. Room service very good. Breakfast included in the room rent. I enjoyed their native food. I looked around in other hotels in Abuja they are very expensive. I will be going again in September I will definitely stay there. You feel very secure 24hrs security. 24/7 electricity & Air Conditioning.

Dont Look Anywhere Else in Abuja

The hotel is very ordinary. I would advise you not to eat at the hotel and rather eat elsewhere. I say this because we had both the buffet supper and breakfast. It seems the hotel caters mainly for the traditional Nigerian foods, and as a westener, I could select very little that I felt comfortable with. I had no intention of having a sleepless night due to food that would upset the status quo.Only use the hotel as a sleepover. I was very dissapointed when I heard that I will have to pay N 2,000 for only 100mb of data. The rooms are spacious and clean, although one of my pillows had a stain.For breakfast my collegue had their only juice on offer, waterlemon, and immediately put it down after one sip. The ommelette was pre made and tasted like it needed salt, the fruit on offer looked old and was wrapped in plastic, so was the cheese. I had toasted bread, ommilette and jam with tea. On the positive:The staff is very friendly, aircon worked and the beer was cold.

I spent five days in Abuja and stayed in the charming Hotel De Bently. It was a peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable stay. The management was super helpful and accommodating, with good amenities, a characterful and well-thought out design and excellent kitchen/ bar. I recommend this highly!

The service was pretty good but could have been better. I booked a room for 2 Adults when I received my itinerary it stated free parking and free buffet breakfast. When we went to have breakfast we were told the buffet breakfast was for only one person in the room we paid extra to eat breakfast. The itinerary was not worded as such and was misleading. The staff got an attitude when we asked to have our food wrapped up so we could bring it to our rooms. They would look over your shoulders whenever you went to the buffet. This happen anytime during the day breakfast, lunch or dinner. They preferred their staff to bring it so they could charge an additional fee. Every time they brought food to room they expected to get naira's. They also inspected food we brought back to the hotel.

The room had a damp odor and they only brought us one towel and one washcloth. We had to request they leave two towels and two washcloths otherwise we would end up using one towel and washcloth for the both of us. When taking a shower the water would be all over the floor.

We also had to keep going to the lobby to have our room key reactivated. The staff was not very professional and friendly. I will not stay at this hotel on my next visit to Nigeria, Abuja. I will be sure to stay at a hotel who go out of their way for their customers to make sure they are happy at all times.

A good place

The place is clean and secured. I found the location ok, not too far/not too close to markets, supermarkets etc... So not noisy and too quiet (I personally don't prefer silent places). Staff is nice -not too bad, however, I found the night front desk staff a bit slow... Also I expected a bigger bathroom. But I had a good time being there, it is a good place.

The Hotel Bently is exquisite architecturally and in terms of decor both in rooms and public areas-all representing this area of Africa. The staff is friendly, charming and efficient; the manager very helpful in suggesting things to do in Abuja. Excellent open roof top sit out bar and restaurant delicious. Great location- safe and easy to get everywhere. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

2nd visit even better

Let me first start by saying we really enjoyed our time here on our previous stay,and again this time.Thanks also to the staff for my request for the same room as last time and them delivering that.Noticable improvements have been made especially with the food.We found this time there was much more choice,more fresh cooking and the food was hot ! Reception has had a facelift and is much fresher and noticably cleaner. .Management more visible but no cause to complain so just said Hi.You will really enjoy your stay here if its peace and relaxation you want.

It's said that people make all the difference - from good to great. Mr. Agbor and team - Ms. Chinyere, Mr. Danladi - You guys made me have the best times ever. The dining was superb, Hotel was extra clean. The ambiance was amazing.

I stayed at the Hotel De Bentlyl during a work visit to Abuja. I had originally intended to stay at another well know establishment and had my reservations about Hotel De Bently. I was pleasantly surprised on arrival. I was offered a welcome drink and my check-in went smoothly. My room was modern and the amenities were of a good, modern standard. There are three bars situated on the premises and i had a drink at the amazing pool bar. The restaurant was excellent and i recommend the chicken wings.
