We have stayed here before and as last time, it was perfect. Charles is a wonderful host and when we turned up late on a Sunday evening with few local dining opportunities, he created a delicious platter of cheeses and meats for us, including an aged Brillat-Savarin that was just divine. He helped us get away for the channel crossing on time by accommodating us a bit early for breakfast. The room (Reims) was very comfortable, with a shower and bath. Highly recommended.

An interesting and grand villa. Lovely secluded grounds with private parking. Large very comfortable bedroom.
The management and staff were delightful, friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was great, just a shame that dinner wasn't being served the night before (not that this was promised). We would definitely stay again.

A 'wow' experience of sleeping in a 'chateau'

An absolutly stunning property with lavishly (traditionally) decorated rooms. The hotel is a treasure of a building. To gain entry is confusing, someone has to meet you at a locked gate. You are then guided through another entrance. But once over this obstacle then it is all plain sailing. My room had a bath AND a seperate shower (i hadn't had a bath for years..!!!). The bed, very comfy with big cushions and pillows, i had a really good, undisturbed sleep. The breakfast was very good, but was extra to the cost of my room, that said i'm writing this at 19:00 having not eaten anything but the breakfast.

Beautiful French Chateau

We had an excellent stay from the minute we arrived until the time we left. A very warm welcome, beautiful room, with a very comfortable bed. We had the garden room and were even able to have tea on our own private balcony.
This is a typical French Chateau, furnished to a very high standard with an eclectic mix of interesting artefacts. Secure parking, great breakfast, and although we didn’t have dinner it was only a short stroll to one or two places to eat. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Fantastic one night stay to break up long journey. Will definitely return. Secure parking, glad of this when car is packed. Dinning is limited as low season but food we had was fantastic as was the wine!!! Great find to relax in a really beautiful house for the evening and staff were so lovely and very attentive. Didn't go into the town as we wanted to relax but even though low season and mid week there were still some restaurant options if we had wanted to venture out. 3.5 hrs from Channel Tunnel only few minutes off the A26

The building is lovely & the bed was very comfortable, however, this is NOT A HOTEL and should not be advertised as one. It is a bed and breakfast.
It does not have a restaurant but does serve breakfast.
No only does the villa not have a restaurant there was only a Pizza joint open at which to eat in the whole town.
I feel greatly let down by Hotels.com, not by Charles, the host who was very nice but I was mis-sold two days in inappropriate accommodation.

Lovely Chambre d’hote in a beautiful building which is strangely in quite a suburban spot (it’s not in the country side). Had dinner which was nice and a very reasonable bottle of champagne. Be prepared to spend time with strangers at pre meal drinks or at dinner. Charles the owner was lovely and hugely accommodating but may consider giving guests more a bit more space to enjoy his lovely home.

We stayed in the little building next to the main villa, which was described as an upgrade. The stairs to upstairs mezzanine floor with double bed were very steep and I don't recommend it for a family with children or any mobility issues.

The room layout was bizzare, interior design very random and the tiniest bathroom and toilet I have ever used, not very comfortable.

When I asked if there is a possibility of a check in half an hour later (we wanted to grab dinner on the way), I got a call and text asking to cancel the booking asap, even though the host was around at that time.

The town doesn't have any good food options, so unless you decide to eat slightly overpriced food at the villa, you'll end up with pizza or kebab in town.

The breakfast was OK, not a great choice for vegetarian, the baguette and croissant were fresh and 'eggs' ordered turned out to be a single fried egg, scrambled not available.

Overall not a great choice and we will not be returning. We booked the stay for the villa, ended up in a another building, which didn't feel safe for our family.

A wonderful period property with a rich history. Elegant rooms and original sitting rooms make this one of our favourite places to stay when driving through to the Alps or visiting the Champagne region. Home cooked dinner taken in the rooms with favourably priced champagne is a real treat! For us, breakfast is also a must. Will be staying again.

Gorgeous old villa, the manor house for an old brewery destroyed during the war, (being) renovated as an excellent B&B, near Troyes. Beautiful spacious rooms, lovely antique furnishings, wonderful clawfoot bathtub; bounteous buffet breakfast; charming host and hostess. Now on my list as one of my all-time favorite B&Bs; we will be back sometime to explore more of Troyes and the Champagne area.

What an amazing experience staying here!! Beautiful hotel and gardens. The lady who met us was welcoming and friendly and when we had a small issue as we brought our dog and on the Expedia website it isn’t clear how to add a pet (maybe something to think about) they sorted it very easily and in such a lovely way - after a long drive from the UK that day the place was exactly what we needed relaxing and perfect! The breakfast in the morning too was fantastic. Thank you very much for the stay we will return!

A beautiful and unique place to stay

A completely unique and delightful place to stay, full of character and beauty. Parking is secure although the access through the gate isn't ideal for vehicles that typically sit lower to the ground. A bit of careful driving is needed here. The owners were fantastic, friendly and accommodating and breakfast in the morning was worth every penny with fresh local bread, cheeses, hams plus cereals, juices and coffee.

Stayed in the family building with my 3 children (all under 10) and wife and mother-in-law (total of 6).
Everything was great, the main house was incredible, with its detail and design. We were very pleasantly greeted upon arrival and attention was given to make sure we were all settled.
Also the separate family building was great, it had a full kitchen, and full sized refrigerator - the only issue i have, was that we traveled during high-summer, and it was sweltering outside 35-40deg, and there was no fans or air-conditioning available, so it was quite uncomfortably hot in the house, making sleeping difficult. That may or not may not affect all persons, but for me, it was tough. I hoped the owners could consider buying some portable fans to setup when this kind of weather occurs.
Second issue was there was no wifi in the family building, we had to go over to the main building to get within range. Small issue, but still an inconvenience.
However, despite these two issues, my family did really like our stay at Villa Primerose, and we would definitely stay again - just not during July or August :-)

Villa Primerose is conveniently situated for an overnight stop if travelling to south of France, Switzerland or Italy, for example. We stayed on the way down and way back. One thing to note is that not much is open in the little town on a Sunday evening so very difficult to get an evening meal. Breakfast very good at Villa Primerose. An enchanting house.

If you like warm and friendly retro - antique and unique - experiences, Villa Primerose won't disappoint you. This wonderful old building could be on the set of a Ms Marple or Agatha Christie movie. Slightly art nouveau/art deco, with friendly staff, comfortable rooms, lots of hot water, and a magnificent dining room, Villa Primerose is a great place to stay, whether you mean to explore the area or are travelling though to/from Switzerland or the South of France. Stay and enjoy!

Handy location but a town a bit dead.

Location not far from motorway was useful. Most local restaurants only seemed open on a Saturday but you need to make special arrangements to check in after 630. Breakfast nice and fresh but a bit limited. Our 4 year old enjoyed a run around the garden after a long drive.

The manager pointed out and resolved an error from hotels.com who did not pass on the correct ages of our children, hence initially being overcharged for breakfast.

We stayed as a group of four in the 2 bed gate house apartment separate to the impressive main building which was lovely. It's modern in furnishing and is outside the reach of WiFi. Be sure to confirm arrival time with them ahead of time even if you arrive within their regular check in period. We had a short talk on the history of the building when we arrived and were made to feel very welcome. A great place to stay on our road trip.

We received a warm welcome from the host. Our room was on the top floor with a balcony. It was spacious for our family with a large bathroom. There was no evening restaurant service so we visited a pizza restaurant nearby, which was easy to walk to and find. After selecting to pay the hotel instead of prepaying, my credit card was charged five days before our stay which was not what I was expecting. The continental breakfast was fresh with a good selection. The preserves were very tasty. The price of the breakfast reflects the surroundings and the effort made by the hotel. Champagne was served in our room as requested (additional cost), which was vey enjoyable to enjoy on the balcony.

Fabulous hotel.

This beautiful old building has been carefully converted into an excellent small hotel. The room and the furniture were full of character and yet the cleanliness and facilities were the standard of a modern hotel. The owner met us on our late arrival and he was charming and helpful. We had two showers and the room was large and airy with a balcony and a separate seating area. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. All in all one of the nicest places we have stayed, full of charm and a true sense of history in the setting.

I told my wife I'd booked a Formula 1 so she was pretty surprised and very happy when we arrived here. The kids loved it too. Both the staff we met were really friendly, super helpful and smiley. Charles gave us some history of the place and showed us around and he's so obviously enthused about it all. We didn't stay in the main house so didn't see the hotel rooms but we were in the apartment which was lovely. Recommended. We'll definitely plan to stay again.

We picked this by fluke as a pit stop to Italy, and just wished we could have stayed a few more days. The hotel really gives the classic French feel. It is dripping with history, having been built and owned by a 19th century family who owned a large brewery (looking at the pictures). We slept with the windows wide open all night and could only hear birds and owls. Will be going again but for longer than a night. Dining room and food was also amazing. The host Charles was extremely welcoming and took time to make us feel comfortable, he spoke very good English!

We stopped over for a night on our way to ski, and what a lovely stay! Charles was a wonderful host, sharing with us some of the interesting history of the house and of Arcis. We ordered Champagne which was delivered to our room while we were at dinner. The restaurants in town are within walking distance, just a few blocks. There is a kids suite if you are traveling with family. One of our favorite stay experiences in Europe!

One night stopover en route

This was a beautiful, old (in a good way) hotel. We stayed for just one night on the way back to UK. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great value too

Beautiful victorion mansion

Wonderful place to stay, only regret was we only had a one night stay. Huge room well appointed and modern bath. No AC but had a terrace and cross ventilation from the windows. Great atmosphere.

Great Vintage Hotel at Good Rate

Beautiful hotel from the 1890's and well-preserved inside and out. Like how everything is in its original form except the whole bathroom is new and modern. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to stay at somewhere with more substance.

Note needless to say, there is no elevator and you will need to carry you luggage upstairs yourself.

French manor house b&b.

One night stop-over, booked from the photographs and supplied data.
Can not recommend highly enough. The building is an old manor house and has been restored very sympathetically, parking is off-road and secure, the gardens are attractive and large and the host is very attentive.
A very enjoyable stay, well worth a visit.

Great little hotel

This was a really nice hotel with fantastic character. The staff were lovely and the room was very pleasant, despite us taking the cheapest one available. The breakfast was really good too. The only downsides were the bed, which was very hard, and the lack of things to do in the immediate vicinity (though we had a nice dinner in the only open restaurant in the town after we checked in). Recommended for a short stay if passing through but not a destination in itself.

Beautiful and relaxing

A really lovely place, shame it was only for one night. Friendly staff, lovely breakfast, comfy bed, beautiful setting with nice gardens for children to play in and adults to relax in. The town was lovely too, will definitely be going back.
