This is a pretty property, tucked away in a wooded area just steps from the edge of Lake Ontario. It is convenient try located to Brighton, carrying Place and Trenton, but not within a walkable distance. Ambiance is excellent. Every room has a unique cottage feel, with a mixture of antique furniture. With its open spaces, fully equipped guest kitchen, central ‘living room’ area well stocked with games, you can’t help but feel at home. Breakfasts are generous, home cooked meals often with locally coated additions, and the huge variety of jams, again made here with locally foraged items, is amazing and delicious.

Two downsides for our group: we had the top floor bedrooms, only accessible by stairs (no elevators in the building!) which did prove a bit of a challenge for members of the party awaiting knee replacements. The second issue was only evident because of the heavy rains overnight. Courtesy of the super cathedral ceilings, the pounding of the rain was very audible, waking us up and causing a bit of a disrupted sleep for us.

View of Lake Ontario from 3rd floor room. After walking to water's edge could see lighthouse in the distance. Next morning there was a gorgeous view of sunrise over Lake Ontario and birds fishing in water.

This property is large and spacious. The ceiling is high and there is lots of space. We had no problem fitting the cot for our daughter in our room. The parking is ample.
But the person was only at the front desk for a few minutes. Then the desk was empty. I had questions but never saw anyone at the desk again.
The breakfast was just ok. The scrambled eggs were salty. The sliced watermelon couldn’t have been thinner. But the coffee was good.
There was nothing here to really make me want to come back again, except that there re very few hotels in this area.

My room was very clean, nicely decorated to make anyone feel instantly comfortable. There was lots of parking space conveniently located for everyone.
The breakfast became the highlight of my stay, the food was prepared to order and was delicious with freshly baked muffins the first few days and topped off with homemade everything sourdough bagels. Many thanks to the owners and their staff for an enjoyable stay.

We loved the cook to order breakfast with crisp bacon and homemade jams. The bed was comfy and the room was fine. We loved walking down to Lake Ontario and sitting on a bench to watch the gentle waves. We arrived around 8:30 and there was no one at the desk. We went right to our room, which was open. There was no key in the room so we were not able to lock the door when we left for breakfast and a walk. Perhaps leave the key for guests who arrive later? We loved the tall trees and short walk to the lake. I’m glad we stayed here!

Cozy stay with our furbaby!!

My sister and I brought my dog to this resort and had a wonderful stay! The room was clean with a very cozy feeling. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The highlight of the property is the lovely pool that we had all to ourselves because it was a weekday trip. We also loved that we could take my furbaby to the pool side instead of leaving her in the room. We could also take my furbaby to the dining room to have breakfast. So far all the hotels we visited, in the past didn't allow dogs at the dining area. Timber House Resort is super pet friendly! We enjoyed the homemade breakfast. It was very tasty and the homemade blueberry muffins were amazing! There's also a small private beach about 200 meters from the resort which is very relaxing and peaceful to spend some quality time. Lucy and her daughter who manage the resort are very friendly and helpful. We will surely come back to stay in the future!

We really enjoyed our stay, my kids were happy with the pool and the beach nearby.
Breakfast is not a buffet but personalized for each person, fresh and very good and they have a variety of handmade jams that you can try and purchase.
Rooms are spacious (wè were in a room with pool access).
The only inconvenient for me was the no light in the common areas and pool at night but it didn't affect our enjoyment and satisfaction wirh rhe resort

Being our first time at Timber House Resort, overall it was a pleasant stay. A great way to escape the city and have some peace and quiet. Staff was friendly and welcoming and breakfast was definitely a positive and there was great options. From what is being advertised on hotels.com I wouldn't say the restort is directly on a private beach it is a short walk to the beach itself. The only recommendation I have is that it would be nice to have a mini refrigerator in the rooms or possibly as an option to have. There is a shared refrigerator available, I personally think it would be nice to have them in the rooms for those who aren't so comfortable to have items in a shared fridge. Overall it was a nice experience.

It is a homey welcoming place. Needs an update all around. The staff when available were friendly and willing to do anything.
The little beach is very private, clear water and relaxing!
The beds were so, so and the furniture was minimal and uncomfortable in the room.
We never got the correct wifi since we were give two different ones and never got on any of them.
The TV’s are old and only had minimal channels.
The breakfast was nice and had options!
The hot water unfortunately was off but we were promptly compensated upon request.
Over all it is rated at 3~

Third floor was a bit of a hike so would request main level in the future.
Only downfall but the water boiler broke but the managers were more than sympathetic and we received a solution so no fault of their own and we are pleased with the result.

We had a good stay for 2 nights. Like others mention this is more like a larger B&B than a hotel - which we enjoyed. Liked the rural setting and atmosphere.

Our kids enjoyed the outdoor pool. The breakfast was great and homemade jams are yummy. Some tablecloths would make it a bit cozier. They could also add a little ‘menu’ so you can be prepared for the options, it would be easily added to the jam menu that’s provided (but maybe the options change, it was the same both days we were there).

There is coin operated laundry nearby, it’s not advertised or in any info but if you ask they will direct you.

Wish there was info/map/signs that helped direct you to the beach. They say there is one but it’s not clear where. They have a texting system for questions but sometimes it’s nice to chat with someone or even just not have bother asking if info is adequately provided.

A few things could be modernized/refreshed - like the decks and pool fence. Our room door was difficult to open/close and looks like it’s been like that a bit from the look of the door.

A few little extra touches and attention to detail could make it 5-stars.

This is a very ..unique... property. It's VERY isolated and felt more like a (very nice) summer camp than a hotel. Honestly, I felt a little scared being a solo woman on my own because it was isolated and no one was there when I arrived. It's clearly a beautiful space for a wedding reception, but a little odd for hotel. It's far from the highway and restaurants/towns which is fine as long as you expect that. The walls were EXTREMELY thin and I heard all conversations and had to put a noise machine on to try to drown out the guests up stairs that sounded like stomping elephants. Not the hotel's fault but I wouldn't recommend this for light sleepers.
I didn't meet any staff as I guess they aren't really ever on site except breakfast. Sadly, I missed breakfast since I had to leave so early so can't comment on that. The jams looked great!

Overall, just know what to expect. I wouldn't stay again but I clearly didn't understand what it would be like.

Very relaxing quiet stay. We had lots of privacy and our room was very spacious.
We were upgraded to the “bridal suite” at no extra charge without having to ask.
Staff is friendly and accommodating and made us feel comfortable and welcome at the resort.
Nice area for free breakfast in the grand hall that is used for wedding receptions.
I’m sure the grounds are even more beautiful in the summer/fall as foliage just starting to grow at this time. Outside patio/pool would be very inviting when warmer.
The complimentary breakfast was delicious with eggs/bacon/french toast/pancakes all made to order. The fabulous Fresh baked Pumpkin muffins to start were a nice touch while waiting for breakfast.
We loved the Raspberry Lavender jam ( homemade by Lucy) so much we bought some to take home along with Pickled Beets.All the preserves/chutneys etc are homemade with wonderful unique flavour combinations.
We enjoyed our stay so much we booked a third night.
We would recommend Timber House Resort and will stay there again when we visit the area.

This was such a hidden gem for us. I stayed here with a friend and my two small children while in town for a baby shower and the host was truly incredible. Our room was fantastic and so warm and inviting, there was nice low volume music playing in common areas which I loved, many bathrooms scattered throughout which was great, and also a super accommodating parking situation. To be honest though, the high point for us was the breakfast. I have stayed at MANY different hotels/Airbnb/timeshare etc and I've never had such an incredible breakfast just included in the stay. My son and I have dietary needs and they were so easily accommodated which is a very rare thing for him and I to experience. The pancake were the best pancakes I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating, we also picked up a few homemade jams to bring home with us! We are from 3.5 hours away, and I'd make the drive back to Brighton just to stay here for a weekend as a little getaway again. Thank you again!

We reached the property at 8.30pm. The road is dark, the yard is dark and inside only a couple of lights. There was no one at the property and no at the front desk just 2 papers to tell us they couldnt be there and here are the keys. Anyone could have entered and used those rooms as there was no one to monitor. On top of that there were no other guests at the property. We were 3 adults and 2 kids in this big guesthouse alone in the dark middle of nowhere. It is not a hotel. We immediately felt unsafe and scared being alone there, dark and no security. We tried to call them to get some assurance but no response. We took turn going in to check the rooms as we were scared. Our 5 old was traumatized from the place.

We finally decided not to stay there as it really felt unsafe and dangerous. We would be able to close our eyes even second to rest if we did.

Our rooms were on the ground floor. The front door very close to the rooms and it was open for anyone to enter at anytime they wanted and there was no one else on the property. If there were an emergency we wouldnt have anyone to contact as the host was not responsive.

This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. It is simply a guest house style place with limited services. Dont be fooled to book that place. The pictures and what it actually looks like are very different at night.

The place felt very unsafe and unsecure. It was the start scene of typical horror movie.

Not recommended at all especially if you have children.

Truly amazing knowledgable hosts.

Timber house is situated close to the lake in a quiet natural setting. The hosts were truly exceptional starting with a delicious breakfast cooked to order. I loved the carrot muffins and french toast. My car broke down in the parking lot and the host was able to connect me with the help I needed. I highly recommend Timber House for a retreat close to quaint friendly towns and nice restaurants.

We were the only people there which was cool. But I would have thought that as a courtesy we would have been put into a nicer room, given that there were 10 of them. And some much nicer and brighter than the room we were given. Close to the beach to see a nice sunset. Lucy, the manager makes some very good jam and hot chocolate bombs which was a bonus to buy some homemade Christmas gifts. Good breakfast. I think this seems like a great place for holding group functions.

It's a beautiful setting for the property and the room was comfortable, had access to outside through the patio doors and there was 24 hr access to coffee/tea. A full breakfast was freshly made upon your arrival during breakfast hours to the dining area.

It was a lovely, informal setting and the bed was super comfortable. I did not watch any TV but supposedly there was Apple TV as well as regular stations available.

I booked here because my grandson is very. allergic to my dog and found out upon arrival that there were 2 dogs there owned by other guests. He became weazy and had to use his puffers. 😕.

What a gorgeous gem in Brighton. I have to say I was a little caught off guard at first when I realized it was a massive \"house\" with multiple bedrooms but wow, what an amazing stay! I slept soundly in my king room on the top floor and loved having access to the shared kitchen - and don't even get me started on the pool! Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or to just treat yourself, Timber House Resort is a great spot. Plus they're incredibly responsive through their text messaging system so you can ask all the questions you like - just as I did haha! You can't go wrong staying here when exploring Brighton and the Bay of Quinte.
