The breakfast is served in the restaurant next to the hotel and it offers 4 choices only which include one choice for kids. The location is convenient, which is within walking distance to MRT Shilin station. The room size is quite small. The price is reasonable considering its location. However, I don't recommend it for family traveling with baby due to its small room space.

The location is unbeatable in this part of town. Not too close to MRT, so it's not noisy at night, nor too far away from MRT. We didn't pay for the breakfasts, because there are tons of food options nearby.
The room is big with a living room area, but, unexpectedly, it has no closet, and we had to lay out our luggage on the couch.

Huge Family Room: Actually two rooms combined, very spacious.
Two Full Toilets: Very convenient for a family.
Balcony: A nice addition to the room.
Lovely Design: Rooms had an appealing aesthetic.
Quiet at Night: Despite proximity to the market, the area is quiet in the evening.

Negative:
Poor Wear and Tear: Noticeable damage in the rooms.
E.g. Broken Shower Heads and Broken Shower Door(Replaced with an inconvenient plastic curtain)
Expensive Laundry: Laundry service cost $50 per use.
No Nearby Amenities: 10 mins to restaurants immediately surrounding the hotel.

However with the price tag, it is ok.

Air conditioning worked well, and quite a few English tv channels.

Room a bit small but sufficient for for a couple for a night or two. Small fridge and water available, as well as laundry.

Hotel provides ear plugs in case of noise, but we found it quiet.

Close to the Shilin night market for supper. 7-11 also close by as well as other convenience stores and restaurants.

A couple blocks from Shilin station. Handy for traveling.

Pro: Staff were very nice and helpful. Only a few minutes away from Shilin MRT station. room was spacious and as described in the photos.

Cons: Breakfast although delicious, is the same every day, ( 1-2 eggs, some bread, some potato salad and some leaf fruit salad) maybe some bacon I'f you eat meat. It's OK for a day or 2 but it gets boring for 5 nights as we stayed.
The room is very poorly soundproofed. ( we had to use the earplugs they provided)
On arrival the floor was stained with someting sticky that I cleaned with some alcohol wipes.

Front desk mostly unhelpful. They look unhappy. Only 1 female staff was friendly. I wanted to check in early to visit a family member in the nearby hospital, but all the male front desk staff wanted was extra money for the few hours I was early. I paid more than half the nightly rate to check in early. If you want to be near the Shin Kong Hospital, the location is great. Otherwise, there are much better and cheaper options. No spoons in the room but 2 mugs are provided. Housekeeping is good with no tight time restrictions. Certain room designs are strange especially those facing the forsaken factory. Relatively close to the Shilin Station. Noisy rooms as the windows are not doubled-glazed from noise, so loud cars and motorbikes are clearly heard. Washing and drying facilities are useful and inexpensive. The free coffee from 3-6pm is nice. I would not stay here again unless I need to be near the hospital.

We loved Papersun Hotel

This hotel was so good we booked 4 more nights after the first one. Location is excellent, 5 minutes walk to the famous Shi Lin night markets and the MRT trains. Breakfast was included and was quite nice. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We used the laundry facilities and I think they could do with a bit of an upgrade, although they did the job well. The local primary school was right next door but we could not hear it at all from our room. The view was very typical of suburban Taipei through our wide view windows. We will definitely stay there again next time we need a hotel in Taipei.

Stayed at this small hotel near Shilin Night Market for 3 nights. The room I was in was bright but faced the street so there was a lot of traffic noise. There were a set of ear plugs on the pillow when I checked into the room so this must be a common complaint. The registration staff were very nice & helpful. The included breakfast was great and the restaurant staff very efficient. The location is only a 7 min. walk to Shilin Night Market & Shilin MTR station. The price was reasonable so I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Papersun a total of 3 different times while we were in Taipei. The rooms are pleasant, comfortable and well-equipped. The staff were extremely helpful to us, especially when we were trying to find a car rental firm. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are good. The breakfasts are rather fun, being different on different days of the week.

Recently had stayed there the breakfast is below average. not much of a choice for breakfast. its a fixed set which unable to choose other items except porridge

the housekeeping is the worst. the used glass is there before i leave. upon returning to hotel room the glass is remains intact. think they vaccum, change of bedsheets and towels clearing your bins only.

The only good part is that its economical stay and walking distance to shilin night market and mrt station (Shilin)

Great place as long as the neighbors remain quiet

I really enjoyed my stay at Papersun. The hotel has modern Asian décor with modern conveniences.
Terrific 24-hour staff. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Free breakfasts were enjoyable.
The only drawback was that the rooms are not very soundproof. Fortunately, most neighbors were very quiet. There was one upstairs neighbor--a man who spoke loudly in Cantonese--he kept me awake for 15 minutes.

Love the artsy decor and great customer service at Papersun. We enjoyed talking to the staff and they answered all our questions with kindness and gave helpful information.

Breakfast each morning was awesome too. We were given a different set of breakfast each morning and could help ourselves to the extra bowl of soup such as red bean soup at the self help corner.

The room I stayed in faced the school and I could see students in their classroom on weekdays. It's no big deal as you can use the curtains to close the view. Generally, the room is quiet. There were no sounds from the school but there were sounds from the toilet pipes and people outside the doors once in a while.

And, best of all, though it's hard for taxis/uber to find our hotel as it's along a lane of Fude Road, the hotel is within walking distance to the Shilin Market via Da Dong Lu. We enjoyed visiting the Shilin Market when we were there.

The service was excellent, staff was attentive and even contacted me via email regarding some items that were left behind. Excellent breakfast offering, generous portions as well. Location was great, 5 minutes walk to Shilin station and Shilin Night Market. Only complain is that the pillows were uncomfortable, and that since it is next to a school, you can hear the bells go off in the morning.

it is not a terrible walk from the MRT station to the hotel if you don't have lugguges. The hotel is very close to the shilin night market. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed browsing the street nightly. The staffs at the front desk are extremely helpful. The hotel has coin-up laundry so it's convienient. Breakfast is so so... but there are a lot of things to eat in Taipei so it was not my biggest concern. Although I indicated that I wanted \"light clean\" during my 5 day stay I still would like the bathroom cleaned... they didn't replenish my bottle water and cleaned my sink. I had to remind them I was almost out of toilet paper after the second day. I like this hotel but they just have to pay more attention to little details then it will be perfect.

Thoughtful design and yummy home-made breakfast

Nice apartment hotel tucked away from the busy street and night market. The location is quiet but we felt very safe walking at night. The front desk service is excellent - we appreciate that they remember their guests. The room is adequate - basic like an apartment but comfortable. We like how the property owner/designer added special design details to give guest room a little more personality (less hotel-like). Same with the hotel lobby and dining room - very modern with thoughtful touches here and there. The best part of our stay was the breakfast. Everyday they served a different gourmet breakfast, made fresh in their own kitchen as you enter the dining room. The \"buffet\" is really just the daily soup and coffee/tea, the actual meal is one plate for each guest. It's very generous and we looked forward to it every morning. Overall, we love this little hidden gem. Will certainly be back again in our next visit.

I love the location - next to a primary and secondary school. It is also just a 10-min walk to Shilin night market. The lanes may be dark at night but are perfectly safe to walk back from the night market or Shilin mrt. Lots of other eateries here too. Breakfast is great, different everyday...sumptuous and yummy! Only complaint is that the walls are thin so I can heard my neighbours around and above talking or moving their luggages around.

Weekend break from working in Taiwan. This was a nice little hotel with a super friendly staff. The hotel is located near some old parking structure, but this also makes for a relatively quiet street and not a lot of traffic.

Breakfast was cooked and served when we arrived in the eating area. Excellent.

There is also a washer and dryer on the second floor.

We were only there for a weekend, and it is next to a Jr. High School, so don't know what the noise would be during the week.

We'll stay again.

I booked deluxe twin bedroom but they give me a standard twin bedroom . Actually they don't have the deluxe twin bedroom at all which is bigger size than standard twin bedroom . Its ok if they tell the truth ....but they try to cover and cheat .... by measurement my room size is not the size I booked .

Clean room but dishonest staff ruined experience

Things are good, room is clean UNTIL We intended to call a cab to airport and asked the hotel staff to assist us. She insisted we must book a fixed price private van even we said we wanted a cab with milters. Then we saw the driver bought some food to the staff who helped us call the van...so is she giving preferential treatment to the private van driver over service to customer? The private van smelt of trash and the female driver drove dangerously. we felt cheated and feel that the last thing ruined our experience.

Nice hotel. Beautifully designed. Very comfortable. Front desk staff were amazing and very helpful.

Just a note it gets loud during the day since hotel is right next to a junior high.

Only thing I would suggest is consistency with room clean up or be clear what gets replaced and what doesnt. Ceramic and glass.Cups and soaps are provided but are not changed or replaced. Sometimes teas and coffee is replaced sometimes it isn't. I asked an older lady who was on clean up duty to please take my dirty cups and she rudely said - \"you take them down yourself. You clean them yourself.\" But I don't have anything to clean the cups with and is it really my job? Omg. This happened twice with the same lady.

Nice place to stay in Taipei

The staff is really nice and is really keen to help you. We had the bad luck to stay when the Junior high school, behind the hotel, was re-building one of its wing. But when we asked to switch room, they accomodated us perfectly. The only thing that could be improved, is perhaps the breakfast. Don't get me wrong, again super friendly people, but in a country at the crossroad of flavors where eating is a pleasure, I was expecting a bit more than a hotdog in my plate. And based on the taste of the soup, I'm sure there is a huge room for the cook to express her talent.
Anyway, I still recommend the place. Few minutes away from the subway and, most of all from the Shilin night market.

This is just a regular size room in an apartment? So they called it an apartment? No kitchen and not much extra room however the room and hotel both were pretty new clean and comfortable, free breakfast was good and adequate. The front desk staffs were very helpful. The breakfast was tasty and the waitresses are kind. The room was clean but the cleaning crew kept forgetting to clean the shower drainage and give us clean towels. But if you call the front desk, they would immediately bring it up. The shower gel and shampoo and soap are locally made and smells nice. Very organic. The room was a bit small but overall, it was a wonderful and nice stay. Quiet neigbourhood and the downstairs sitting area is spacious and bright.

Best hotel in Taipei with great price. The price of the room is so cheap, but the servic they provide is even better than the five start hotel. The hotel is 3 minutes away from the mtr, 10 mins walking from the Shilin night market, 6 stops away from Taipei station which you can take bus from airport! Best come back again!

Highly recommend!

The staff were cheerful and welcoming, even at 2am, and were helpful in giving me directions places (in English!). Breakfast was delicious, healthy, sumptuous, and gluten-free! Location was great (direct 30 min. bus ride to Yangmingshan National Park and walking distance to Shilin Night Market and metro to go downtown). I am so very happy I decided to stay at Papersun as it was a perfect place to stay for a relaxing getaway but also offered easy access to the fun and sights of Taipei and to the natural of Taiwan. I will definitely stay here again when I come to Taipei!

Quiet yet close to ShiLin night market

Hotel easily accessible from Shilin MRT station (exit 2). A mere 5-7 mins walk. Because it is situated a distance away from the night market, the area was peaceful and quiet.
Room was definitely bigger than I'd expected. Equipped with all the necessities you'd find in a hotel room. Self service laundry available for 50NT with free dryer service. Receptionist was able to speak basic English.
Very pleasant stay overall.

Impeccable hospitality

Location is great. Just 5 mins walk from Shilin Mrt & 7 mins walk to Shilin night market. Convenience store is round the corner too. Room is smaller than expected but they have a spacious bathroom. Strangely, their sink is placed in the bedroom. Perhaps to make space for the bathroom. Wardrobe can't be open fully to view the mirror due to the door knob. King sized bed which is comfortable but pillows are way too soft. Even after putting two pillows together, our heads sank with the pillows. The best part is the staff. Every single staff made us feel welcomed. They made the effort to greet and smile whenever we passed by the reception area. Also, they took the initiative to give us detailed & printed information when we asked for directions to places of interest. Great team!

Nice and comfortable hotel in Shillin!!!!!

My husband and I only stay there for one night. We both love it!! It's not easy to find this hotel especially at night time however the taxi driver found it very easily. The room is very comfortable, not too big but enough for two people. Decoration is very nice. Wifi speed is fast. Breakfast is included and delicious. The front desk people is very friendly and helpful. One thing very surprised me is there coffee. You must to try it!!! Overall we are very satisfied and defiantly will come back.

Smartly designed and comfortable hotel

I stayed here at the start and end of my trip, was very happy with my stay both times, and would definitely stay here again. The hotel is modern and smartly designed for a comfortable stay. The staff were very courteous, helpful, accommodating, and many of them spoke English well. The hotel was quiet, and I heard very little noise from other rooms or the hallway. The immediate neighborhood is residential, quiet, and safe with many eating options in the nearby commercial streets including the amazing night market.

Great staff and service but very bad soundproofing

This hotel's room are quite cosy, nice furniture, good bed, great staff. BUT, you can hear your neighbours talking just as if they were standing right next to you, it woke me up every single day and prevented me from sleeping. Walls are simply as thin as paper, which is not nice at all. Location and price otherwise are good.

Comfortable and convenient

Papersun is a clean, modern hotel and in a convenient area. The staff is helpful and friendly. Although breakfast is ample and tasty, it never changes and is boring if your stay is longer.

Nice Hotel, convenience location

Walking distance to Shilin MRT station & Shilin Night market. Friendly staff.
This is a apartment style hotel, so they do not change your hotel or bed liner everyday, which i think is good (environmental friendly). But if you need them to change, you can also inform the hotel staff, they will be glad to do it for you. They do clear the rubbish, clean and tidy the room everyday though.

But hotel does not come with any facilities (like swimming pool or gym etc).

Papersun was convenient and comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, but was the same every day and became boring.
