Our stay at Sunny Side Hut was great. It was our first time visiting both Japan & the snow but it was hassle free because of the exceptional service. We (myself & daughter) had a blast. The facilities & location are good. The service is exceptional.
Pros:
- Exceptional service. The owner couple were willing to drive us to where we wanted to go to make our stay pleasurable. Decent understanding of English & western culture.
- Great food. Plenty of variety in provided meals. Good mix of Western & Japanese styles.
- Excellent for families. The family that own the place are very welcoming. Plenty of board games & fun to be had.
- Rooms are tidy and include housekeeping.
- Everything you need to hit the snow. There is a room for snow equipment, a dry room & owner's can assist organise lift tickets & equipment hire.
- Private bathrooms!
- Plenty of food & services (pharmacy, convenience store etc.) around within walking distance. Some night life also exists.
- Great value for money. I almost feel like I should have paid more.
Cons:
- There are closer places to the snow resorts however there is ample transport & the lifts we received from the owners made this mostly non-issue.
- Rooms & bathrooms are a bit small, but I think it's pretty standard for Japanese accommodation.
