My recent trip to NY for an overnight trip to visit my sister's and celebrate my mom for Mother's Day and her birthday was met with a hotel disaster. I made reservation for a one night stay at Casa Azul. Unfortunately, due to unacceptable room conditions that made the room unsuitable for occupancy.
Upon arrival, I discovered significant issues in the room, including mold concerns and a strong smoke odor despite the expectation of a clean and habitable environment. The conditions were unhealthy and inconsistent with what was represented at the time of booking.
Because of these conditions, my mother and I were unable to stay at the property and had to find somewhere with better suitable accommodations and a feeling of safety. Although my cancellation occurred after the standard cancellation deadline, the circumstances involved health and safety concerns rather than a simple change of plans. Under New York consumer protection standards, guests are entitled to accommodations that are reasonably safe, sanitary, and as described.

At first glance the hotel looked cleaned and maintained once the check-in process was completed the strong smell of cigarette and marijuana clouded the hallways. The smell of smoke was insufferable in the room. We had to request new bedding as the comforter had cigarette burns and the sheet was torn. The staff bought us another that had the same issues. The pillow cases looked dirty and dingy and the pillows flat. We were awoken at 6 am by someone having a conversation right outside our room door and was screaming at the top of his lungs this went on for hours and no staff came to intervene. When we were leaving for check out the man was charging his phone right outside our room door; not sure why since our room had multiple places to charge your phone. 0/10 experience.

This establishment is advertised as a \"Hotel\" on your platform, when in fact it is a \"Motel\". We were scared! The strong smell of weed was always in the air. At 2am a man was banging at doors cursing, looking for someone named \"Arianna\". When he did find the woman, there was cursing of all types of profanities. This went on for more than half an hour. There were people having sex loudly at all intervals throughout the night. People were in and out, with doors banging closed, speaking/cursing all night. Around 4:30am a man was sloshing a large mop cleaning the floors. The bucket rattling through the halls. What hotel cable ties the iron to the ironing board!!?? I have pictures and video. We were forced to check out the next morning. The person at the front desk never apologized for all that went on after she was informed. She said the person that was banging on the doors was drunk, and he was checking out that day. He was NOT a guest there. He was going door to door looking for \"Arianna\". It is not safe there and Expedia is putting lives in danger having this location on their platform. I intend to go to whatever company or agency to get my refund and make others aware of the dangers of this motel.

Terrible experience. Floor smelled like weed. Bug in my shower. Yelling and fighting at 2am in the hall way for over an hour. Made request for an extra pillow never received, made a request for an iron at 6:30am was never received, had to follow up at 8am and still never received the iron. Checked out at 9:30am. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE OVERALL

Parking was the best part of the stay. Room itself was ok, shampoo etc… was partially used, pubic hair on the bathroom floor, towels and wash clothes had stains, very noisy all hours of the night into the morning until about 6am. Sketchy people around.

Was shown 2 rooms, but terrible and smelled even worse, tv was not working, towels are thin and completely worn out. The bed spread had burn holes everywhere, the bathroom was filthy and the pillows were like pancakes. To add insult to injury, I was awoken at 3:30am by a man banging on the door for nearly 20 minutes screaming, I called the desk and there was no answer; the man started banging on the door again and again I called the desk and this time someone picked up, when I asked why is there a stranger banging down the door, the response was “he’s drunk and looking for the women that stood there yesterday” needless to say I had a crappy night at this dump. This place needs to be closed down.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The bed sheets have multiple holes. The bathroom door knob was falling off. The bathroom faucet handle was loose. The toilet bowl lift off the floor with every use. The towels was very very old and had what look like bodily stains. Our room door did not close properly you can see people feet walking around. The whole hotel smelled of marijuana with loud music and people walking around all night. The microwave that was outside the rooms in the lobby was very very old with the numbers erased . Refrigerator door in room was broken. Even the iron and ironing board were broken and leaked. There are so much more wrong with this hotel. I’m not sure how they pass inspection.

Don’t book at this hotel. I’m not a type of person who likes writing reviews, but this was a must. I don’t want people to have a bad experience, the same way I did. First, this place is like a scam, its not described as it was on the internet. The place is disgusting, the room and bathroom overall is very dirty, smelly (most likely weed). I literally breathe during my stays, I booked it from Saturday to Monday, cause I needed to attend a concert at the UBS Arena, and this hotel was the closest. I don’t recommend anyone booking their stays there. Besides of the dirtiness, you hear people arguing strongly and slamming things. It’s not safe to anyone, especially if you bring kids. The environment is not it. If I can rate this hotel to zero, I would. Bad experience overall.

I would give zero stars if I could. The front desk person was extremely rude and unprofessional.
When we arrived, we weren't even allowed to check in or wait-he told us we had to leave the premises because it wasn't yet the 3 p.m. check-in time. We politely asked about the possibility of an early check-in, but he was completely unwilling to help and had a very dismissive attitude.
There was no effort to accommodate us, offer alternatives, or even speak respectfully. This was by far the worst service I've ever experienced at a hotel. Customer service like this is unacceptable, and it completely ruined our experience in this hotel and area. I would not recommend staying here. I felt unsafe with the hostile attitude and behavior and ended up canceling our stay and looked for another hotel.

There was parking. The AC did not work therebwasblargebpaint falling from the ceiling. It felt very unsafe. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The best part was the location to USB Arena. Yhe bathroom was passable upon firt look but upon usage of it it was utterly horrible.

First the price was too high for the location, second it was a $75 cash fee for early check in and no receipt,then you had to ask for extra linens. Microwave was located in the hallway and was dirty,no ice machine on the level where your room was.The pillows were flat as a pancake.

My husband I and our daughter booked this hotel online to go see the NY Islanders the weekend of April 11th and 12th We chose this hotel due to it being close to the arena and stating online it’s a 13 minute walk. Upon arriving to the hotel it looks nothing like the pictures and it is not really safe to walk to the arena unless you want to cross highways, etc. Upon arriving, the clerk at the desk would not even acknowledge us. She was on a facetime or a phone call on speaker because she continued her conversation with this person the entire time. I said we are checking in. The response I got was ID. Then waiting for minutes while she continued her conversation. Then asked you have a car – fill this out this card. Then hands us a room key with the number. The entire time she is in a full blown conversation. Upon entering the room, the smell of cigarette smoke was terrible. We booked a non smoking room but you can tell that the smoke smell was embedded in the room. It was so bad we knew there was no way we could stay 2 nights. My husband went to front desk to ask if we could cancel the room for Sunday night. We were denied any refund. After going to dinner there a male clerk sprayed the room for us but it did nothing. We got up the next day and left as soon as we could drove home 3 hours after the night game and took showers as the smell was in our hair, etc. The next day I had to wash everything in the suitcases and air them out!

When I got there they wanted to extort $75 more for early Check in. The front desk clerk was very rude. When I made reservation they immediately used card on file without confirming it was ok. The room was not cleaned very thoroughly. Some of the outlets did not work. I asked the front desk for help with the TV because the remote was not working, and told them there was a plastic bag taped over the smoke/fire alarm. No one ever came to the room. The bedspread had white stains on it and did not look like it had been cleaned.

The front desk clerk was not friendly or polite. Our key didn't work so we went back to the front desk - twice. Our tv remote didn't work and the front desk clerk made me go find housekeeping on my own. The tv channels wouldn't change and the volume wouldn't adjust. we were stuck for two days watching cartoons. There was no heat in the bathroom. There were hairs in the shower stall when we first walked in. The lobby and hallways smelled like marijuana - for a smoke free hotel. I had chosen this hotel because of the rating on hotels.com - totally misled. If I wasn't going to the hockey game at UBS Arena I would have left.
